Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” will be the first film to use the new IMAX/Arri 2D Camera that will add “incredible scale to it,” according to co-director Joe Russo.

The IMAX/Arri 2D Camera is designed to complement the high-resolution capture technologies that achieve the highest level of digital image. IMAX has been very selective as to who utilizes its cameras, limiting it to Zack Snyder (“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”), Brad Bird (“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”), Christopher Nolan (“Interstellar”), and J.J. Abrams (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”). The newest addition, the IMAX/Arri 2D Camera has been christened by the latest installment of the Captain America franchise.
