Disney Asia Pacific Unveils an Exciting General Entertainment Slate Heading to Disney+

The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific today unveiled its highly anticipated global general entertainment slate for 2026 at the Disney+ Originals Preview. The star-studded event was held at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, and featured top talent from the U.S., Korea, and Japan -- underscoring Disney’s creative momentum and its deepening commitment to bold, award-winning storytelling on the streaming platform.


 

At today’s preview, Shōgun star and executive producer Hiroyuki Sanada, along with series co-creators Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks, took to the stage to discuss the spectacular storytelling that defined Season 1 as they prepare for production to commence for Season 2. In 2024, Shōgun broke new ground and made history with a record 18 Emmy wins in a single season.

The event also offered an exciting preview of upcoming global general entertainment titles on Disney+, featuring new seasons of fan-favorite series such asParadise (Season 2), FX’s The Bear (Season 5) and Percy Jackson and The Olympians (Season 2). There were also sneak peeks of all-new, star-studded original series and documentaries including Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, the festive special, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie and Pole to Pole with Will Smith - a new series that follows Will Smith as he travels across all seven continents in 100 days.

 

Additional highlights included the news that Alien: Earth will be returning for Season 2, as well as a preview ofThe Testaments, a gripping spin-off series that takes place a few years after the events in The Handmaid's Tale. There were also APAC previews of FX’s The Beauty, a highly-anticipated global drama series from acclaimed producer Ryan Murphy; and Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, a fresh installment in the beloved “Descendants” franchise introducing a new character, Chessy the Cheshire Cat, and a first look at Season 2 of the Australian Original, The Artful Dodger, an irreverent follow-up to Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist exploring his adult double life in the far-flung penal colony of Port Victory, Australia.

 

With its creative momentum on full display, The Walt Disney Company today also unveiled bold new stories from Korea and Japan that will soon debut on Disney+. Global and regional senior executives shared insights into Disney’s content strategy, emphasizing how APAC Originals complement the platform’s award-winning global general entertainment lineup – all part of the company’s continued commitment to deliver unparalleled storytelling.

Global General Entertainment Titles Highlighted at the Disney+ Originals Preview:

 

  • A Very Jonas Christmas Movie – In A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, and Kevin Jonas face a series of escalating obstacles as they struggle to make it from London to New York in time to spend Christmas with their families. A Very Jonas Christmas Movie premieres November 14, 2025.

  • Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 – Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is based on the second installment of Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series titled The Sea of Monsters by award-winning author Rick Riordan. In the new season, Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 premieres December 10, 2025.

  • Descendants: Wicked Wonderland  The latest installment in the Descendants franchise explores what “happily ever after” really means for Red (Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe (Malia Baker) following their time-traveling adventures in the 2024 hit film Descendants: The Rise of Red. Set primarily in present-day Wonderland with a host of new and familiar characters, this sequel delves into the warning at the end of the previous movie: There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time. Descendants: Wicked Wonderland premieres in 2026.

  • Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember – In this intimate and uplifting documentary, Chris Hemsworth turns the spotlight away from himself and toward his father, Craig, who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Determined to help, Chris designs a therapeutic “road trip back in time,” revisiting key places from their past to explore the powerful science of social connection — a crucial but overlooked tool in protecting brain health. Along the way, Chris uncovers surprising research showing that connection isn’t just good for the soul; it can also reduce the risk of dementia, slow cognitive decline, and even prolong life. This emotional journey across Australia becomes a chance for Chris and Craig to deepen their bond, relive memories, and discover how love, community and nostalgia can be potent medicine. Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember premieres November 24, 2025

  • Pole to Pole with Will Smith - National Geographic’s new series follows Will Smith as you've never seen him before. Setting out on an extreme journey of exploration, the series sees Will travel across all seven continents in 100 days on an incredible voyage of discovery and experience firsthand what it is like to live in some of the most amazing and extreme landscapes on the planet. Pole to Pole with Will Smith premieres in 2026.

  • Paradise Season 2 – Paradise is set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world's most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs, and a high-stakes investigation unfolds. Paradise will return for Season 2 in 2026.
     
  • The Testaments – The Testaments is based on Margaret Atwood’s Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name, which was published in 2019 and takes place in the dystopian theocracy of Gilead. Years after the events of The Handmaid’s TaleThe Testaments is a coming-of-age story that finds a new generation of young women in Gilead grappling with the bleak future that awaits them. For these young women, growing up in Gilead is all they have ever known, having no tangible memories of the outside world prior to their indoctrination into this life. Facing the prospect of being married off and living a life of servitude, they will be forced to search for allies, both new and old, to help in their fight for freedom and the life they deserveThe Testaments will premiere in 2026.
     
  • The Artful Dodger Season 2 - Jack’s back! Dodger and Belle’s forbidden romance is under threat and a murderer stalks Port Victory. The Artful Dodger will return for Season 2 in early 2026.

  • Only Murders in the Building Season 6 - From the minds of Steve Martin, Dan Fogelman and John Hoffman comes a comedic murder-mystery series for the ages. Only Murders In The Building follows three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth. As they record a podcast of their own to document the case, the three unravel the complex secrets of the building which stretch back years. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell one another. Soon, the endangered trio comes to realize a killer might be living amongst them as they race to decipher the mounting clues before it’s too late. Only Murders in the Building will return for Season 6 in 2026.

     
  • FX’s The Bear Season 5 – A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family. The Bear will return for Season 5 in 2026.

  • FX’s Shōgun Season 2 – An original adaptation of James Clavell’s novel, FX’s Shōgun is set in Japan in the year 1600 at the dawn of a century-defining civil war. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him. When a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village, its English pilot, John Blackthorne, comes bearing secrets that could help Toranaga tip the scales of power and devastate the formidable influence of Blackthorne’s own enemies — the Jesuit priests and Portuguese merchants. Toranaga’s and Blackthorne’s fates become inextricably tied to their translator, Toda Mariko, a mysterious Christian noblewoman and the last of a disgraced line. While serving her lord amidst this fraught political landscape, Mariko must reconcile her newfound companionship with Blackthorne, her commitment to the faith that saved her and her duty to her late father.
