I cant eat without condiments of chili, vinegar and sweet chili sauce. I have come to realized that I cant eat without spices. I have loved Thai food eversince Thai restaurants sprout everywhere in Manila. Then comes, Sweet Chili Thai Fish and Noodles Restaurant, owned by Gerry's Group of Restaurants.

We import some of our key ingredients so that you taste nothing but real Thai cuisine," adds Apolinario who opened Gerry's 17 years ago.

"Food is good for sharing at very affordable prices. Excellent meals need not be expensive. We never compromise on taste- and value for money," says Apolinario.

Sweet Chili hopes to open one more branch before the year ends. Their menu includes the mouth watering and delicious must- try items such as the following;

Catfish lightly breaded, fried until crispy, topped with sauteed bell pepper and fried garlic sauce

Marinated boneless chicken thigh wraped in pandan leaves served with sweet chili sauce

Grilled pork liempo topped with fresh bellpepper served with lemon tamarind sauce

King Fish deep fried until golden brown served with choice of sauces

Sauteed thai rice noodles with shrimp, tofu, bean sprout in tamarind sauce, wrapped in egg

Phad Thai wrapped in egg

Flavorful stir fried chicken in herbs and spices mixed with basil leaves

Fresh shrimp, squid and fish in authentic Thai herb soup

My personal favorite is their Seafood Tom Yum, the spiciness is tolerable, that goes right with the ingredients (vegetables and seafood) and broth. Second is the Chicken Pandan, with a little tinge of spice, its soft,  chewy,  and delicious, that comes around with the sauce, dont forget to dip your chicken into it.

SANDARA SENDS SHOUTOUTS TO GERRY’S

Korean superstar Sandara Park, known as Dara or Sandy to thousands of fans, named Gerry’s as her restaurant of choice. Recently, Sandy who was in Singapore visited Gerry’s at Cuppage Road and on her Twitter account wrote: “Ang sarap talaga ng Gerry’s!”

Dara, who became popular in the Philippines via Channel 2’s Star Circle Quest earlier posted on Instagram: “That’s (Gerry’s) my forever favorite restaurant!” While in the Philippines, Dara brought his Korean friends including members of the K-Pop group Big Bang to feast on Pinoy favorites.  

Refashioning itself with a cozier, homier ambience Gerry’s is set to open in Cauayan, Isabela; Fisher Mall in Quezon City, Robinson’s, Tuguegarao, SM Centerpoint in Sta. Mesa, Manila; Star Mall, Cebu, Aseana Mall in Paranaque City. Earlier this year, Gerry’s opened branches at the Ayala-run Fairview Terraces Mall and Iligan. The homegrown restaurant currently has more than 60 branches nationwide, with five in three locations abroad – Singapore, Qatar, and the U.S.

AT GERRY’S ART AND BOOZE MIX

Gerry’s Grill Union City in California, USA recently hosted Paint Nite, a new concept of blending two timeless pastimes – artistic painting and drinking cocktails.

“Paint Nite is about making art accessible to people who don't consider themselves artists or creative in any way. It is about fostering a fun, low stress, non-judgmental environment that inspires everyone to enjoy the process of creating something from nothing. Gerry’s Grill was the perfect place. We’re glad they hosted us,” says Sean McGrail, general manager of Paint Nite.

The two-hour painting parties are a two-hour event held in local bistros around the U.S. with at least 25 adult participants in attendance. Absolutely no painting experience is needed, Paint Nite take cares of all supplies - acrylic paint in primary colors and a 16”x 20” canvas.

“A master local artist will walk you through step by step during the course of the event  - though creativity and individuality are always welcome!” beams McGrail.
While the participants are busy creating their masterpiece, a waiting staff goes around to pick up empty glasses or ask for refills. Paint Nite also has its own mood music, played when the artist is not giving instructions.
“At the end of the two hour session your inner Picasso has been unleashed and you get to bring home your own masterpiece,” says McGrail.

Paint Nite hopes to embark in an international expansion in the Philippines and Singapore, adds McGrail.
Gerry’s Grill management said it is open to host their parties in both countries. Overseas, the leading grill restaurant in the Philippines has two branches in Singapore, two in the U.S. and one in Qatar.
Prime Pacific Grill Corporation (PPGC), operator of Gerry’s Grill recently announced the opening 8 more branches during the first half of 2014: Robinson’s Place in Tugegarao, Cagayan; Iligan, Ayala Terraces in Fairview, Quezon City; Meycauyan in Isabela, and Star Mall in Cebu City. Company-owned branches are Fisher Mall in Quezon City, SM Sta Mesa, Manila, and Aseana City in Paranaque.
