IKEA Brings Christmas Cheer Early with Its Affordable Holiday Shop

September has arrived, and with it, the first stirrings of holiday excitement in the Philippines. The -ber months mean we’re in that magical season when Christmas is approaching and everyone is planning for this year’s holidays—the home décor, food, parties and gifts.

Knowing Filipinos’ unique enthusiasm and love for the holidays, IKEA Philippines officially opened its Christmas Shoprecently at both IKEA Pasay and online at IKEA.ph. The store launch brought holiday cheer to the crowd as the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Rodel Colmenar, played Christmas carols with Gian Magdangal.

IKEA has also permanently reduced the prices of 400 must-have items. Its Christmas Shop is offering the same low-price designs, this time for the holidays. Shining bright are two collections that make it the go-to destination for early holiday decorating, gifting, and home solutions: VINTERFINT and STRÅLA collections, both designed to capture the magic of Christmas while staying true to IKEA’s hallmarks of functionality, style, and affordability.

“Our IKEA Christmas Shop brings together design, affordability, and sustainability in one place. Every piece is festive and joyful for the home while being kinder to the planet,” says Ricardo Pinheiro, IKEA Philippines Country Retail Manager. “You’ll see this in our VINTERFINT jolly Santa Claus figures for your tabletop, made from 100% recycled polyester, and priced from only ₱129. To decorate your hallways and tables, we have artificial wreaths, hanging bouquets and potted plants, also crafted from recycled polyester and combined with recycled PET and polyethylene plastic, starting at just ₱49. Shoppers can mix and match small accents with bigger pieces like our artificial Christmas trees.”

Pinheiro adds, “With so many products in the Christmas Shop, IKEA makes it exciting for Filipinos to be creative with their holiday decorating and gift-giving while keeping it sustainable  and, just as importantly, to stay within budget. We have designed our pieces  to be easy to clean, easy to store, and ready to bring joy to many more Christmases to come.”

The VINTERFINT collection comes from the Swedish words "vinter" (winter) and "fint" (nice or fine) to mean “nice winter.”The 179 designs in the range draw from beloved Swedish traditions but add a fresh, modern twist. Think playful tree ornaments from traditional red balls to translucent glass, candy cane, tear drop-shaped and candy wrappers. To decorate your tabletops, you can scatter different sizes of Santa plushies, stylized reindeer in birch veneer, tabletop Christmas trees made from recycled paper, and artificial trees that go from 150 cm (five feet) to 210 cm (seven feet).

The VINTERFINT kitchen is all about holiday fun and cooking for and with the family. Products such as cookie cutters and festive molds, cheerful coasters, disposable napkins, and serving pieces give the table the warmth that matches your anticipation for the shared laughter, stories, and meals that define the Filipino Christmas.

IKEA’s Christmas Shop makes gift-giving effortless with everything you need to choose and wrap presents in one place. Choose paper wrappers with fun patterns and designs; or gift bags from large to small ones for the 25 days of Advent gift-giving from December 1 to Christmas Day.

The STRÅLA collection, on the other hand, derives its name from the Swedish word that means “to send out light or rays in many directions,” much like a star or a lamp.

Pinheiro explains, “Sweden has a Christmas tradition of ‘plucking’ stars from the night sky and placing them in our windows. With the STRÅLA collection — lit by energy-efficient and long-lasting LED lights —  everyone can bring that same magic into their homes to make the season bright, cozy, and merry.”

The STRÅLA range is composed of about 40 lighting pieces including star-shaped lamps in Scandinavian, minimalist style. There are also fairy lights to string on your Christmas tree or rest on your dining table; snow globe and gift-shaped lamps; and battery-operated candelabras—all to light the way from the beginning of -ber months to Christmas Day.

Both collections promise everything families need to transform their homes into warm, festive havens where personalized celebrations can unfold, one carefully chosen decoration at a time.

The IKEA Christmas Shop is now open. Discover the VINTERFINT and STRÅLA collections at IKEA Mall of Asia andonline, and let your holidays begin with inspiration you’ll want to bring home.

IKEA Brings 93 New STOCKHOLM Collection Pieces to Manila—A Tribute to the Great Indoors

Filipino design lovers have a new and exciting reason to visit IKEA as the store brings this personal and purposeful collection to the Philippines, a celebration of the great indoors where real life happens.

Some pieces don’t just fill a space—they tell a story. They become part of our great indoors, the spaces that we shape and shape us. They’re not just furniture, but silent witnesses to the extraordinary and everyday moments we build around them. They echo morning rituals, Sunday gatherings, reunions with friends and quiet nights with the family.

For 40 years, IKEA’s STOCKHOLM collection has done exactly that, bringing warmth, simplicity, and Scandinavian soul into homes around the world, and transforming our indoor spaces into places of comfort and meaning. As the beloved collection marks its milestone anniversary this year, it returns with its most expansive and expressive edition yet—93 thoughtfully designed pieces that celebrate the beauty of natural materials, timeless design, and the quiet luxury of living well.

From statement sofas made to last to handwoven wool rugs, chandeliers and mouth-blown glass vases, STOCKHOLM showcases IKEA’s commitment to a design philosophy that makes life better for the many.

It’s no accident that the collection is named after Sweden’s capital city. For over 40 years, STOCKHOLM has grown alongside the changing needs of homes through eight distinct editions, each unique but sharing the same defining characteristic of modern Scandinavian design at affordable prices.

In its latest and largest iteration, the collection offers a diverse range of furniture, textiles, lighting, and accessories across the home. Taking center stage are materials that were carefully chosen for their quality and how they age and interact with one another. Solid woods are paired with tactile surfaces and natural fibers, linen, and leather to create unique expressions in sturdy wood furniture, handwoven wool rugs, mouth-blown glass, and handcrafted rattan pieces. The STOCKHOLM range also includes two glass chandeliers with a retro feel, accompanied with white gloves to wear during assembly.

“The purpose of the STOCKHOLM collection has always been to prove that high quality doesn't need to come at an intimidating cost,” says Karin Gustavsson, Creative Leader for STOCKHOLM. “We have worked to create a no-compromise kind of collection where every piece tells a story. Craftsmanship is at the heart of this project, where traditional techniques and hands-on methods have resulted in durable and beautiful design pieces that stand the test of time.”

IKEA Philippines Country Retail Manager Ricardo Pinheiro adds, “The new edition of STOCKHOLM was thoughtfully designed with the elements of quality, affordability, sustainability, form and function in mind to ensure the collection is accessible to many real homes. This is why it feels both global and deeply personal—warm, welcoming, and made to last—perfect for Filipino spaces, whether it’s a condo or a spacious family home.”

Highlights from STOCKHOLM 2025

Three Swedish designers with different but complementary design languages created a collection that is cohesive while ensuring that unique pieces shine on their own.

True to its namesake, the inspiration is deeply rooted in the city of Stockholm, reflecting both the urban and natural landscape surrounding the city. Rich earth tones play against natural woods, and textiles reflect scenes and colours from nature.

Two distinctly different sofas were first designed as centerpieces to guide the collection as a whole. Designer Ola Wihlborg’s wide modular sofa, offered in four colors including a deep turquoise velvet, was born from his frustration with sofas that constantly need the cushions fluffed.

Ola says, “I wanted to create a high-quality sofa that maintains its shape and looks the same even after you stand up from sitting in it. Something that prioritizes comfort without needing extra pillows.” After developing over 30 prototypes to find the perfect shape for everyday comfort, the result is a sleek, generous sofa with modules that can be used on their own as well as connected to create the desired length.

The second sofa, designed by Nike Karlsson with a solid pine wood frame and white cushions, serves as an exploration into design without foam. Made from natural materials, the sofa uses woven fabric, natural latex, and coconut fibre, delivering a sofa with exceptional comfort and timeless appeal.

Rattan was a focal point of STOCKHOLM 2017, and Nike’s iconic rattan cabinet became a sought-after favourite. In the new collection, Nike introduces a sliding-door cabinet featuring a surface woven from rattan fibers, tied, bent and shaped by hand. Rattan is also used in the backrest of one of the dining chairs, while the lounge chair is built around a robust rattan frame and topped with a deep cushion in a light Bouclé.

“You’d think with the name STOCKHOLM, the pieces would have a big city feeling, but we went outside the urban setting, to the nature and islands around it. This allowed us to lean into the Scandinavian materials, including working with a Swedish pine supplier to source the highest-quality pine. People often think of pine as a budget material, but when you go for the best and apply smart, efficient design techniques, its beauty is undeniable,” Nike says.

The raw nature of the materials shines throughout the collection, where chairs, bookshelves, and dining tables showcase detailed craftsmanship and smart construction — achieving sleek, clean designs that remain strong and durable. The bentwood chairs are crafted using a traditional technique where the beech wood is soaked and carefully bent by hand to form soft, rounded arches in arms and back.

The forest is a central character in textile designer Paulin Machado’s pieces, including lampshades that are adorned in leaf and mushroom prints and colour combinations pulled directly from the Scandinavian seasons. Handwoven by master weavers, her collection of 100% wool rugs brings nature inside, with woven birch tree patterns, available in shades of green as well as a gray scale, in black and white. Merino wool blankets and pillowcases in multi-coloured patterns add pops of drama.

As Paulin puts it, “Nature is the best designer — every color matches beautifully in the natural world and you can see how we have tried to capture the hues of Sweden’s seasonal shifts.”

For dining, the collection offers tableware in ceramic and porcelain, including glazed stone plates and bowls, and a series of glasses. A selection of large vases stands out as beautiful centerpieces, with two mouth-blown and one ceramic black amorph, so each one carries its own character.

STOCKHOLM is all about living well where it matters most—the great indoor spaces that shape our lives. It’s a great representation of IKEA’s Democratic Design principle, which is at the core of every product and collection.

What is IKEA’s Democratic Design Principle?

Democratic Design is IKEA’s approach for designing, developing and evaluating the company’s home furnishing products. It ensures that the products integrate good function, beautiful form and long-lasting quality, with consideration for social and environmental impact and a low price. Democratic Design brings the IKEA business idea to life and guides its designers to offer products that meet the home furnishing needs of the many people at prices they can afford. Democratic Design helps IKEA make things better, such as a better life at home and a better planet, by making better things.

It always starts with the low price in mind and aims for the lowest cost throughout. The interaction between the dimensions adds value and creates a low price with meaning.

Form: Beautiful products that people love.

Function: Meaningful solutions to everyday needs.

Quality: Products that last for long-term enjoyment.

Sustainability: With consideration for social and environmental impact.

Low price: Truly affordable for many people.

Take home pieces from the new STOCKHOLM collection now to experience IKEA's timeless collection and Democratic Design.

Pieces from the STOCKHOLM 2025 collection are now available at IKEA Philippines in Mall of Asia and online.

IKEA launched today its sustainability products

In support of its vision of creating a better everyday life at home,IKEA today launched its sustainability range—a wide variety of affordable, quality home furnishings that will help the many Filipinos achieve a sustainable life at home.

While the concept of sustainable living is often viewed as challenging, unpractical, and expensive, IKEA simplifies it. “For us, a sustainable life at home is affordable and attainable through small actions that will eventually create a big impact on home life and on our Earth,” said

Georg Platzer, Store Manager of IKEA Pasay City. “At IKEA we believe that sustainable living cannot be a luxury for the few. It must be affordable for the many.”

With more than 2,000 products that help people save energy and water, reduce waste, conserve resources, or settle into home furnishings made from renewable and recycled material, 57 solutions were specifically chosen and designed for Filipinos.

A practical, affordable, and sustainable life at home

Anchored on the principle that anyone can live sustainably, IKEA presents simple solutions so that the many Filipinos can make small, affordable, but still very meaningful actions that have a positive impact on the environment:

·       Furniture that lasts longer. IKEA presents furniture that grows as a family grows. Rather than needing to be replaced, pieces can be supplemented with modules as needed. Products that can adapt as needs change are even more useful. For example, the PAHL desk, an adjustable table that helps avoid the cost and hassle of buying a new desk as your child grows.

·       Products that use less resources.  A pressure compensating aerator is standard across the whole IKEA range of taps and showers. This reduces the amount of water coming out by up to 50% but keeps the flow at the desired level. LED light bulbs are also standard across all IKEA products. Those use up to 85% less energy—this makes them planet friendly—and lasts 20 times longer than incandescent bulbs.

·       Products that help reduce wasteThe world is using and wasting resources more than ever. By practicing some small and smart changes at home like adhering to a waste sorting system, we can help the world’s waste problem. For instance, the SORTERA recycling bin allows you to recycle and compost, significantly reducing waste at home.

·       Reusable products. From the trusty and durable FRAKTA bag to the IKEA 365+ food containers, IKEA products are meant to be reused many, many times. Something to look forward to is the STORSTOMMA, a rainbow-colored version of the Swedish retailers’ bestselling carrier bag, coming very soon.

Plant-based foods. Plant-based foods have a smaller environmental impact than meat and dairy products. The problem is plant-based food often comes at the expense of flavor and texture. That’s not the case with the HUVUDROLL plant ball, a plant-based alternative that’s just as delicious its meat counterpart. The HUVUDROLL is fast becoming a favorite of Filipinos, so be sure to grab them right away because they sell out real quick.

·       Products made from natural and responsibly sourced materialsWood is durable, recyclable, and renewable if grown and used responsibly—It also looks great. Bamboo is another sustainable raw material used in IKEA products. Its strength and stability provide possibilities for construction with thinner elements and boards, resulting in reduced use of material. This saves natural resources and increases savings during transport. Bamboo also filters carbon dioxide, produces oxygen, and has a high growth rate making it extremely sustainable. Aside from wood and bamboo, all the cotton used for IKEA products comes from sustainable sources. In fact, 60% of the IKEA product range already uses renewable materials.

·    A collection inspired by the surf lifestyle. Since 2019, IKEA has partnered with the World Surf League, a leading global sports organization for surfers, to develop a new collection inspired by an active lifestyle that’s close to the ocean and conscious of the planet. The KASEBERGA collection, which will be in IKEA Pasay very soon, offers a range of practical, beautifully-designed products that champion sustainability. It was developed with a focus on including more renewable materials like wood, and materials from recycled sources such as polyester.

Much like how its products are catered for the many people, so is the concept of sustainable living. IKEA makes sustainable living at home easier and more affordable than ever with practical and simple solutions that any Filipino can do.

Another way IKEA commits to sustainability is through its Circular Shop. “No visit to IKEA Philippines would be complete without dropping by the Circular Shop where you’ll find returned items, floor samples, end of the range, and discontinued pieces, all at a fraction of their original price. We’re dedicated to giving every piece we make a long and useful a life as possible, and this is one of the ways we’re making sure we do that,” added Platzer.
