McDonald’s PH opens its fifth flagship store in Nuvali

QSR giant McDonald’s Philippines, owned and operated by Chairman & Founder Dr. George T. Yang, and President & CEO Kenneth Yang, celebrates another milestone of the Golden Arches in the country with the opening of its 700th McDonald’s Store in Nuvali—its fifth flagship Green & Good store in the Philippines.

McDonald’s Green & Good initiative is the company’s commitment to do better for the environment by equipping its restaurants with sustainable restaurant innovations with its use of green building and utility-efficient solutions like solar rooftops and lampposts, grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, a rainwater harvesting tankvariable refrigerant flow (VRF) Aircon System, among others, that help in the reduction of emissions.

McDonald’s Philippines 700th Store opens in Nuvali

McDonald’s Philippines Master Franchise Holder and owner, Dr. George T. Yang, President and CEO Kenneth S. Yang, Ronald McDonald House Charities Ambassador Cindy Yang, and Santa Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas officially opened McDonald's 700th store in the country last December 23. The milestone store located in Nuvali, Santa Rosa is also a Green & Good store. Green & Good is an initiative of McDonald’s to do better for the environment through the use of eco-friendly and sustainable solutions in its restaurant construction and operations.

McDonald’s newest Green & Good store in Laguna also hasbike-friendly features that include a Bike & Dine facility and a dedicated Bike Repair Station to cater to the needs of the growing cycling community of Nuvali—Ayala Land’s largest eco-estate and one of the country’s premier biking destinations.

“McDonald’s newest Green & Good store in Nuvali is another step in strengthening our commitment to environmental sustainability. Our goal is to continue to test and learn alternative solutions in how we operate our restaurants. With every Green & Good store that we open, we can determine and integrate better green building and utility-efficient solutions in more of the restaurants that we will open in the coming years,” said Kenneth S. Yang, President and Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s Philippines.

With the opening of its 700th Store, McDonald’s Philippines will end 2022 with 45 new stores in different areas across the country.

“This 700th store milestone not only shows our growth over the years, starting with our first restaurant in Morayta in 1981, but it also represents our commitment to the future. As we introduce innovative solutions that elevate the customer experience and create positive impact to communities like Green & Good, we are excited to be a better McDonald’s for many more years to come,” Yang said.

With the growth of McDonald’s store network, every new McDonald’s store provides between 80-100 jobs for residents of local communities and neighboring municipalities through its direct hiring practice; keeping in step with McDonald’s commitment to provide employment and career opportunities for Filipinos.

McDonald’s 700th store is located along Nature Road, Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Other McDonald’s Green & Good stores include McDonald’s UN Del Pilar (Manila), Shaw Boulevard Wack-Wack (Mandaluyong), Mambugan (Antipolo), Delos Reyes (Tagaytay) and Sta. Monica (Commonwealth Quezon City) opening on December 30. McDonald’s Nuvali is open 24 hours daily, and is open for Dine-In, Take-out, Ride-thru, McDelivery, McCafé and McDo Parties.

McDonald's treats riders by giving them time to spend with their family

I’ve always had a soft spot for all delivery riders. Lalo na when the rider arrives and I find out na naka-bisikleta. That’s parang double the effort pa.

So I always make sure to give them tips or juices/drinks, chocolates , biscuits or anything na makakain nila. Lalo na ngayong rainy season and I see them na nagsisiksikan para di maulanan. As a mother myself, ramdam ko yung pagod ng trabaho nila.

Lalo na at pandemic pa they need to earn while keeping themselves healthy.

So, eto na nga napanood ko ‘yung McDo video, bigla na lang tumulo luha ko without realizing it. Tama ako sa naisip ko na paano yung mga pamilya nila.

Nagkikita pa kaya sila or nakakapag usap after a day’s work. And unlike those na regular ang jobs they don’t have a fixed day off and most of them work 7 days a week pa.

Thank you McDonalds for this video, for treating our dear riders and giving them time to spend a day with their family. Makikita mo yung totoong saya nila—walang katumbas—instant good vibes.

Para tuloy gusto ko din magorder sa McDelivery para masurprise din ang family ko.

Chicken McDo? My favorite McSpaghetti? Cheeseburger? Lahat na kaya weekend naman!

Check out the super heartwarming, feel-good video HERE and order via McDelivery to make your family time all the more precious and to show your support for your riders!

McDonald’s Flavors of Asia brings you the best of both worlds of Japanese and Korean flavors!

The main thing that crossovers have taught us is that they are always exciting, out of the ordinary, but most of all, rare. It’s not always that we get to see our favorite music artists partner for an epic duet; and it surely never gets old when we witness crossovers in superhero movies.

Now, McDonald’s is jumping into that crossover world with the most satisfying and delectable collaboration of flavors and cultures possible – with the Flavors of Asia, bringing you the best of both worlds of Japanese and Korean flavors!

Flavors of Asia also actually serves as a comeback – fans of Japanese cuisine will remember McDonald’s Flavors of Japan, served all the way back in 2019; while McDonald’s served a treat once more just last year with the Taste of Korea. But to make things oh-so-satisfying, this exciting crossover is here to let everyone enjoy the best of both worlds.

Combining the fan favorite Japanese and Korean-inspired meals together, bite into Flavors of Asia’s savory flavors of the Ebi Burger, boasting a tempura-coated shrimp patty paired with tangy Thousand Island sauce and lettuce (and the perfect Lent-friendly choice!); and the K-Chicken Burger that lets you enjoy a crispy chicken filet with creamy cheddar cheese and served with kimchi and gochujang dressing that will surely tickle and satisfy your tastebuds, with both burgers housed between black and white sesame seed buns.

As with all epic crossovers, your burgers need partners, too – pick among their Shake Shake Fries coming in the Nori variant, for those looking for a sweet and salty, seaweed-flavored twist, and Honey Butter, suitable for those craving a sweet take on their World-Famous Fries; and finally, cool down with Flavors of Asia’s Strawberry Banana Sundae drizzled in sweet strawberry banana syrup, and the Matcha Sundae for that delectable green tea-inspired taste!

Can’t decide whether you’re looking for Japanese or Korean flavors? Have both in a snap and never have to choose! Experience the best of both Japanese and Korean worlds with McDonald’s Flavors of Asia, and get your flavorful treats through Dine-In, Take-Out, Drive-Thru, and McDelivery while it’s still available!

Moving forward with McDonald’s M Safe

As the country slowly eases restrictions after the pandemic’s recent surge, the health and safety of everyone remains to be the top priority of McDonald’s.

The newly released M Safe video“We feel good when you feel safe at McDonald's” shows a couple making their way to a scenic McDonald’s restaurant. Upon reaching their destination, McDonald’s crew and managers are one step ahead in making sure minimum health standards are followed, allowing them to experience feel-good moments while feeling safe, as they snack on their favorite McDo meals.

People as top priority. For 40 years, McDonald’s has been committed to the safety of its employees, who in turn, keep their  customers safe. The newest M Safe campaign aims to assure and promise to continuously provide

safe, feel-good moments worth sharing.

“Two years into the pandemic, we have learned a lot in navigating this crisis. At this point, we need to change our mindset and move into treating covid as an endemic. We need to ensure that we keep ourselves and each other safe so we can go back to the things we have missed doing and move forward without fear but with cautious mindfulness. At McDonald’s, safety remains of utmost importance for our employees so we can deliver a safe experience for our customers in our restaurants and channels. We strongly encourage more people to do their part by getting vaccinated and following all minimum health and safety protocols. It is only by embracing this responsibility for ourselves, and by working together that we can contribute to the recovery of the country and move forward safely with our lives,” says Kenneth S. Yang, President and Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s Philippines.

Moving forward with McDonald’s M Safe

To date, close to 100% of all McDonald’s employees nationwide have been fully vaccinated. Their next goal is to have all employees boosted by the end of March or April.

McDonald’s restaurants are also acquiring Safety Seal certifications. Close to 500 stores nationwide have passed all requirements and have been provided with a Safety Seal.

For customers to have more safe options to satisfy their McDonald’s cravings, the QSR giant launched its Bike & Dine facilities. With Bike & Dine, bikers can mount their bikes safely on a ledge which doubles as a table. This initiative aims to provide cyclists a dining space after they ‘Ride Thru’.

‘Ride Thru’ is another initiative of McDonald’s that encourages all types of vehicles, not just 4-wheeled ones, to order food via the drive thru lane without leaving their vehicle.

“Whether dine-in, delivery, or ride thru, our customers are assured that their food is safely prepared through our stringent global food quality standards and strict safe and healthy protocols placed,” added Yang.

McDonalds opens its newest Green & Good store in Shaw Boulevard Wack Wack

In time for Environmental Awareness Month, McDonald’s Philippines reinforces its commitment towards using environment-conscious and climate-friendly restaurant solutions as it opens its newest Green & Good store in Shaw Boulevard Wack Wack, Mandaluyong City. McDonald’s Green & Good stores allows the QSR giant to test and learn sustainable practices with its green building construction and utility efficient solutions. The first Green & Good store was launched in UN Del Pilar Avenue in Manila City in April 2021.

The Green & Good store in Shaw Boulevard Wack Wack is the first McDonald’s store in the country to adapt a modular system with its prefabricated prefinished building construction. Compared to a traditional brick-and-block approach, each module is produced off-site and installed together with other modules on-site. This enables faster work in a controlled environment and promotes sustainability through reduced waste and impact of on-site construction activities.

The store was also built with repurposed and recycled material such as reclaimed wood, eco- pavers, and eco-bricks. Concrete fiber was used as an alternative material to steel rebars on slabs, pavements, and driveways. Even smaller details such as paint used made with low volatile organic compounds were prioritized with less environmental impact.

The Green & Good store also includes solar lampposts and photo and motion sensors as part of its utility efficiency solutions, as well as eco-friendly air conditioning for less energy consumption. Rainwater is also collected in a harvesting tank to be used for cleaning the store’s exterior.

“We are committed to provide a better and more environmentally sustainable McDonald’s for our customers and the communities we are a part of. We recognize that there is a lot more to be done but through our Green and Good platform, we are a step closer towards finding innovative ways to keep waste out of nature and drive climate action.” said McDonald’s Philippines President & CEO Kenneth S. Yang.

With the growing community of cyclists, the new store includes a Bike & Dine area where cyclists can comfortably enjoy their McDonald’s favorites without having to worry about the safety of their bicycles. The store also has a Bike Repair Station that has the tools cyclists would need to carry out basic bike repair or maintenance.

McDonald’s also partnered with Meralco to provide access to e-charging stations. The Green & Good store in Shaw Wack-Wack is the second store to provide their customers with Meralco E-Sakay's e-Charging stations for e-bikes and e-scooters. Customers can simply plug-in their e-bike and e-scooter for a minimal fee of PhP1 for one-minute worth of charging.

Customers can also enjoy their food with the use of reusable packaging for dine-in such as reusable rice bowls, utensils, cups, and wooden stirrers.

Stricter implementation of solid waste segregation in the dine-in, kitchen and prep areas will be in place. McDonald’s Philippines aims to significantly reduce waste at sanitary landfill by conversion of paper waste to fuel, food waste to fertilizers and plastic waste to repurposed goods, as well as conversion of Vegetable Oil to biodiesel.

McDonald’s Shaw Boulevard Wack Wack is now open for 24 hours to serve customers via dine-in, take-out, ride-thru and McDelivery. Under its M Safe program, McDonald’s ensures the safety of its employees with close to 100% of its crew and managers in NCR now fully vaccinated. Along with the constant acquisition of Safety Seal Certifications, now in more than 60% of all restaurants nationwide, the QSR giant assured that they will continue to offer safe, feel-good experiences for customers whether through Dine-in, Ride-Thru, or Delivery, through crew and managers who are protected/healthy and working in a safe environment.

Be updated on when the next Green & Good store will open by following McDonald’s PH on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

McDonald’s Philippines partners with the National Task Force against COVID-19 (NTF) to provide free COVID-19 RT-PCR testing for its store employees

Quick service restaurant giant, McDonald’s Philippines, has partnered with the National Task Force against COVID-19 (NTF) to provide free COVID-19 RT-PCR testing for its company owned and franchised store employees in NCR as part of the company’s continuous focus on health and safety under its M Safe program.

This partnership of NTF with McDonald’s reinforces the collaboration between the public and private sector for testing and isolation programs.  The community testing initiative aims to ensure a safe workplace for its employees and dining experience for its customers. McDonald’s has also recently committed to implement the StaySafe.ph app in its restaurants to improve contact tracing protocols.

McDonald’s Philippines master franchise holder, Dr. George T. Yang, opened the first McDonald’s store in Morayta, Manila in 1981. Since then, McDonald’s in the Philippines has been a strong and relevant player in the country’s quick service restaurant industry, having grown a store network of over 640 across the country. McDonald’s Philippines continues to elevate its community relevance through Ronald McDonald House Charities and McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen in response to COVID-19 pandemic.

“The safety of our employees and customers has always been at the core of our operating culture. It is because of this that we continue to explore and partner with the government and the private sector, to keep the public safe. We believe that more than ever, we have to come together to fight this pandemic to re-start the economy safely and protect the employment of more Filipinos,” said McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO, Kenneth S. Yang.

Beginning September 28 in Palacio de Maynila, one of the Mega Swabbing Facilities set up by the NTF, employees of the company have started to get tested. The company aims to test over 19,000 of its crew and managers in four identified Mega Swabbing Facilities at Mall of Asia Arena (Pasay), Philippine Arena (Sta. Maria, Bulacan), Lakeshore Bicutan (Taguig), and Palacio de Maynila (Manila).

McDonald’s will also be donating three (3) testing booths to one of its long-standing community partners, Pasig City, to support their testing initiatives.

McDonald’s employees will be properly guided and assisted by the company from scheduling, conduct of testing to the release of the results. To limit exposure of the employees and to ensure that the restaurant continues to operate smoothly, only a limited number or crew and managers are scheduled per day. Members of the restaurant management team arranges for the transportation going to the Mega Swabbing Facility, provides assistance on-site for the testing and coordinates the release of results.

Should an employee test positive, McDonald’s will remain in compliance with all the government mandated protocols and will support its employees until they are able to go back to work.

“Through this expanded testing program which we are launching today, you shall not only be ensuring the health and safety of your employees, but also their families and those they come in close contact with every day,” says Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr, Chief Implementer of the National Action Plan Against COVID-19 (NAP COVID-19).

“As we combat the virus, we are very grateful for proactive partners in the private sector such as McDonald’s. Their initiative to test their employees significantly helps strengthen the government’s testing and contact tracing program. We encourage other businesses to follow suit in helping to safely reopen the country’s economy,” says NAP COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Secretary Vince Dizon.

Since the announcement of the enhanced community quarantine, McDonald’s Philippines has been reinforcing its commitment towards safety of people. Under its M Safe program, the company introduced new protocols such as dedicating a safety manager in all its stores and implementing a no-touch policy for Drive-Thru and McDelivery services to ensure employee and customer safety.
