Be proud of being an online seller, says Skin Magical owner Ghie Pangilinan

Bulakbol yan nung college, naging housewife at ngayon online selling ang ginawa.”

Those were the words that were planted in Ghie Pangilinan'mind when she started her own online business. Her skeptics did not believe that she was going to succeed. That was in 2013. Seven years later, Pangilinan overcame all obstacles and is now the Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Skin Magical, one of the best distributors of beauty products in the Philippines. To date, Skin Magical had over 200 distributors and over 50,000 resellers nationwide and even abroad.

My business has really grown and I am proud to say that I started as an online seller,” Pangilinan related. “I started by selling almost everything online from toys, bags, dresses, t-shirts and even gadgets and this was also the time when I started selling my first line of skin care products.”

Pangilinan recalled that she would offer her wares by sending out private messages to her friends. None of them responded to her messages. When she decided to start her first skincare brand, she decided not to sell her products online.

“What I did was that I would come up with FB posts about my skincare products and I did that on a regular basis,” she said. “I worked really hard to look for buyers for my products and it even reached the point that I would stay awake until early morning just to reply to all the inquiries that I received.”

She said she encountered a lot of difficulties when she was still starting out. This, however, was her motivation to push herself to work even harder to achieve her dreams. Pangilinan added that she also wanted to remove the notion that online selling was only for housewives.

“I remembered meeting up a friend back in 2015 and I asked her if she would like to be a reseller of Skin Magical products,” Pangilinan said. “My friend said she was not interested because she had a full- time job abroad. She told me to instead ask another one of our classmates who happened to be a housewife in need of extra income.”

Pangilinan only managed to earn the respect of her skeptics last year when they found out that she was able to build her own company, Skin Magical, and travel abroad. This time around, her skeptics were asking her for tips on how to succeed in her line of business.

“If you are a housewife and an online seller, you should be very proud of yourself,” she said. “You should be proud that you are working hard for the sake of your family. Everyone should work hard to achieve those dreams and we all can succeed. Online selling is for everyone.”

Since then, Pangilinan has appeared several times on ABS CBN’s “My Puhunan” with Karen Davila to inspire and empower women to go into the online business and to make them believe that it is possible to get rich and be beautiful at the same time. She even managed to get actress Dimples Romana, well known for her role as Daniela Mondragon Bartolome on the teleserye “Kadenang Ginto,” to be one of Skin Magical’s many endorsers and influencers.

“I believe that education and having a degree is important but it does not guarantee that you will be successful,” Pangilinan said. “Even if you are very intelligent but you have no direction in life, you will not succeed. For you to succeed in your chosen field, you need to work hardpersevere and to have faith.”

Ghie Pangilinan opens 2020 with successful “Skin Magical Learn and Earn Caravan” and Skin Magical Cares

If there is one person who knows how to start the new year with a bang, it is Ghie Pangilinan, the CEO and the woman who has grown Skin Magical to be the best distributors of beauty products in the country in a period of four short years.

On the second day of 2020, Pangilinan kicked off the First Skin Magical Caravan in her hometown of Morong, Rizal.  About 150 people took part in the caravan where they learned about Skin Magical, how they could start their own business and how online selling works.

“I really want to share this business with as many people as possible,” Pangilinan said. “I give them tips on how to succeed in this business and I always tell them that they should treat their clients as friends, that they should focus on this business and that they should remain loyal to the brand.”

Pangilinan added that she will never get tired of sharing her story because if it were not for Skin Magical, her husband Jerry might still be an overseas Filipino worker.

“It takes perseverance, determination and a lot of hard work to make it big in the online business,” she said. “You also have to be honest in all your dealings with your partners and clients.”

The highlight of the caravan, which also took place in Quezon City, Bulacan, Pampanga, Caloocan and Laguna for the month of January, was the Live selling portion titled “Gandang Palaban Reseller.” The participants showed off their selling skills and the winners were awarded reseller packages.

The second wave of the Skin Magical Caravan is currently ongoing. For the month of February, the caravan has already made waves in Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Tarlac and Bataan.

The Skin Magical team took a break from its caravan activities when Taal Volcano erupted last January 12, 2020. Through Skin Magical Cares, the team led by the Pangilinan couple, responded to those in need by conducting relief operations in the towns of Bauan, Tanauan and Alitagtag, all in Batangas. More than 400 families benefitted from the relief operations.

“We know how it feels to be down and out and taking part in relief operations is our way of helping our fellow Filipinos to literally rise up from the ashes of Taal,” Pangilinan said. “There is only one way to go for those who are already down and that way is to go up. We are just doing our share to help them overcome this calamity.”

This year, Pangilinan is scheduled to launch her own book and Skin Magical brochure to be published by ABS-CBN Publishing.

“Please watch out for the launch of my book because I will share with you tips on how to make your own Skin Magical business a success,” she said. “We will keep you posted.

Skin Magical COO and Founder Ghie Pangilinan wins big in 2019

2019 is indeed a fruitful year for Skin Magical CEO Ghie Pangilinan whose hard work and perseverance to carve a niche in the beauty and skin care industry have been recognized by various award-giving bodies. Her nonstop innovation to make the Skin Magical brand a top choice among Filipino consumers has made Ghie truly deserving of all the accolades.

Last November 19, Ghie bagged the Influencer of The Year award at the Leaders Asia Awards held at the Rizal Ballroom of Makati Shangri-La Hotel. The lady entrepreneur also walked away with the trophy for Start-up Company of the Year for Skin Magical.

This year’s Most Influential Female CEO in the Field of Cosmetics and Skin Care trophy was handed to her during the 18th Annual Gawad Amerika Awards night in Los Angeles, California.

Ghie felt doubly happy when swamped with messages of congratulations from family and friends after being named the Most Influential Entrepreneur of the Year at the 14th Gawad Pilipino Awards Night. The awarding ceremonies was held last December 5 at the Tanghalang Pasigueno inside the Pasig City Hall Complex.

Also included in the awards list are Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, Ali Sotto, Jessica Soho, Atom Araullo, Mike Enriquez, Malou Mangahas, Gretchen Ho, Joyce Ruelos and Arlene Navarro.

Organized by Dr. Danilo Mangahas and EuroTV, the Gawad Pilipino Award is an annual event that aims to recognize the excellence of individuals, organizations and companies from the academe, entertainment, public service, business and NGOs through their passion and work ethics that greatly affect the Philippine culture, traditions and society for humane innovations.

Furthermore, Ghie was also given the Outstanding Contribution in Micro-Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Motivator 2019 by the Philippine Honorable Queens (PHQ Events) last December 15 at Crimson Hotel in Alabang Muntinlupa City. A video tribute called as “The Butterfly Sisters” was also presented to honor her struggles and success with her sisters Joyce Ruelos (who was also awarded tht evening) and Ruffa Gel Garrovillas (who has passed on in 2018).

PHQ Events appoints nominating bodies from all over the country to select Finalist for both Honorable Queens and Finest Woman.

“The awards and nominations I’ve received with Skin Magical served as great reminders for all the hard work and persistence that I and my husband Jerry have done to be successful in beauty and skin care business.
"Each award makes us even more passionate in creating, innovating and sharing skin care products that are effective and safe for all types of skin,” Ghie said.

Ghie shared how she and Jerry strove to become successful and learn new things about running a business. Her husband was a still working as a seaman when Ghie, who was then an online seller of various products, took the advice of her friend to create her own brand. With only an initial capital of P7,000, Ghie was able to start selling through online her own skin care brand, called Skin Magical, with rejuvenating papaya soap, lotion and toner as introductory products. Eventually, it became popular that her husband stopped working and came home permanently to help her in the operation and distribution of the products. They also expanded the business by offering not just papaya soaps.

Many of their loyal customers became Skin Magical distributors “because the products worked on them,” said Ghie who also attributed the success of their business to the loyalty of their employers, resellers and customers.

Until this day, Ghie never tires to share a tip or two about entrepreneurial skills to Pinoys who also wish to succeed in their business through mentoring sessions with them in Go Negosyo. Soon, Ghie will be releasing a book to be published by ABS-CBN Books.
