Snack hacks: the secret to eating well on the road

It is amazingly easy to travel these days, and so much more affordable than it used to be. You can find great hostels and camping sites online, and you can even buy plane tickets from your phone. There are even online forums where you can meet strangers to travel with if you’re looking for companionship on a long trip.

People are definitely traveling more, and every time they do, they ask one question: “anong baon natin?”

Pinoys are well-known for their love of snacking. For Pinoy travelers, packing for a trip is never complete without food for the journey, and for good reason. Packed food is easier on the budget than convenience stores and restaurants, and you’ll be able to get to your destination faster if you don’t have to stop every time someone gets hungry.

We want to share a few tips to our fellow explorers on how to eat well on go so you don’t go hungry on long trips.

Here are our fave snack hacks for packing good, satisfying snacks you can eat in the car, on a boat, or even on a plane!

Pack with portions in mind.If it’s possible, buy small, pre-packaged snacks. Super Delights Brownie Bites are a good example of this, which are available in a string of perfectly portioned packs. Each pack keeps its freshness, preserving the brownies’ fudgy, chocolatey goodness.

This technique is great for when you’re traveling with friends. Not everyone gets hungry at the same time, and nobody wants to eat stale brownies or soggy chips when someone else has opened the package.

Resealable containers are your friend. If you want to bring small portions, don’t use single-use resealable bags. They add so much trash to our roads! Instead, buy snacks in bulk and pack them in small, resealable containers.

You could also pack larger containers to share. Something like a barkada-sized portion would be fun to share on the beach or around the campfire. You can fill a large resealable box with mixed goodies to enjoy—Brownie Bites, peanuts, marshmallows, tiny pretzels.

Mind your moisture.Part of enjoyable travel is staying hydrated, so make sure you get enough water in your system. The best way to do this is to have a refillable water bottle for each person traveling with you. Either fill them with ice or fill them halfway with water and pop them in the freezer the night before your trip. Fill them the rest of the way with water and wrap them in a towel before you leave the house. That way, you have cool, clean drinking water for a few hours.

Airlines won’t let you carry water into the airport to check in, but bring your refillable bottles and refill them at drinking stations after checking in. You may also want to pack a few fruits. They’re nice and juicy and contribute to your hydration on the road.

Bring something sweet. This is especially important if you’re traveling with kids. A treat will always be welcome for children, and it’s a great way to beat back their boredom from being trapped in a car.

Sweets are also a great energy boost. Feed your designated driver some Super Delights Brownie Bites on the long stretches of roads when they need a little pick-me-up.

5 budget-friendly snacks to keep hunger pangs at bay

In case of an attack of the munchies, it’s convenient to have something in your desk drawer you can snack on. Not enough to make you full, but just enough to keep hunger pangs at bay.
But snacking is a habit that can get unhealthy, or even expensive.

The trick is to snack smart. Here are a few suggestions we have:

Brownies
The ultimate treat, brownies pack a punch as a snack. They’re comforting and soft and sweet, and it’s easy to chow down on a whole plateful at a time. But to snack smart, choose pre-portioned packs like Super Delights Brownie Bites. They are individually wrapped, with each perfectly-portioned serving kept fresh and ready to enjoy in a pillow pack. They also pair well with that most common of office beverages, coffee.

Nut packs
A small dish of nuts can be nutritious, tasty, and just distracting enough to free your mind from the stress of a task you’re trying to figure out. They’re great for sharing, and they are mess-free. Just make sure that you reseal the bag or box when you’ve had enough, because opened snack packs might attract ants and other pests to your work station.

Biscuits and crackers
These stiff little breads are perfect for a quick bite. They can be anything from sweet to savory, and you can find all sorts of biscuits in different flavors. They also often come in individual portions, so it’s easy to watch how many you eat. They’re also available in healthier options such as low-salt and whole wheat, so if you’re on a diet, these are a great snack option.

Dried fruit
While fruit is great and can sit on your desk for a while, it does tend to be a little messy. The solution? Grab some real dried fruit or fruit leathers and pack them in a zip lock bag to slip into your drawer at work. They keep for a couple of weeks, and they provide nutrition, fiber, and an extra zing of sugar to keep you going.

Bread
From plain buns to muffins to the beloved mamon—bread makes a great filling snack.  You can get them in single packs or in bulk for you to exercise your own form of portion control. You can choose to go whole wheat if you are looking for a healthier option, too. However, be sure to consume these snacks soon, because bread goes stale quicker than most snack options.

With all the snack options available to you, there’s no reason to go hungry during a long shift at work! So stock up your drawers and feel free to nibble away as you work!

Super Delights Brownie Bites is made from premium, high-quality ingredients and is available at leading groceries and supermarkets nationwide.

Best Valentine gifts for your coworkers

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for lovers. It’s the one day when you can show friendly affection for everybody you have formed good relationships with: friends, family, and even coworkers. This upcoming Valentine’s day, bring some heartfelt feels to the office and show your appreciation for the people you spend most of your weekdays with by giving them small presents to show you care.

Stumped on what to bring to work on the day of hearts?

Here are a few easy-to-accomplish suggestions that are guaranteed to make your recipients feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

1. Put out some pizza. This works for a smaller team, or even bigger teams if your budget can afford it. While it could potentially be a splurge, it’s also a particularly nice treat for your teammates. Bonus team bonding experience points if you could all gather around the pantry and just hang out, too!

2. Ease the day’s stress by having a ball. Every day has a little stress mixed in with the tasks, and a little squeezeable cutie by your side makes everything a little better. So why don’t you provide your work mates with a little relief and pass around a basket of stress balls on Valentine’s for those who might really need them? Even when your day isn’t completely crazy, these soft, cute balls will remind people that there’s a reason to smile.

If you can’t find stress balls to your liking, there are many little puzzle games that provide helpful distraction from the day’s worries. There are also cute mouse pads that double as wrist rests and ease the stress of working on a keyboard for extended periods of time.

3. Perk them up with their favorite drink. Start Valentine’s day right and offer to go on a morning coffee run for the team. To make sure you get each person what they want, take orders the night before. Not only does this gift start everybody’s day off on a high note, but if you write each person a nice note to go with their coffee, it can boost more than just their caffeine levels. Take it a step further and provide filling, sweet treats that pair with their brews. To avoid breaking the bank, avail of budget-friendly treats. Super Delights Brownie Bites, for example, are great for this purpose. They’re fudgy, chewy, and individually wrapped, so you can pass around a heaping bowl of these fun treats and everyone can just help themselves.

4. Stock up on stationery supplies. Another thing nobody can get enough of at the office is stationery supplies. And while every office might provide standard pens and paper, where’s the fun in that, right? A quick visit to a school supply or an art supply store easily yields a wide selection of affordable sticky notes, page markers, pencils, magnets, and even paper clips that range from stylish to cute to quirky and even sassy. Tie up a few with a simple ribbon and leave a heartfelt note, and there’s a good chance your recipients will smile a little every time they use them.

5. Say it with brownies. Who doesn’t love to sneak a little snack in the middle of the day? Show your coworkers you support their snacking habit by slipping several pieces of Super Delights Brownie Bites in a cute bag and leaving them on the desks of chosen co-workers. Delicious and affordable, these treats come in easy-to-bring-around packs that hold a single fudgy serving at the peak of freshness until they’re ready to be enjoyed. A prime example of responsible snacking, a pack of these can easily last a colleague with a sweet tooth an entire week.

It only takes a bit of time and effort, but these little gifts will make your office environment sweeter for those who share it with you. On the one day when people are either taken or single, take the time to remind those around you that we’re all in the same boat after all.
