How to Find the Perfect Bikini at SM Woman Coco Cabana

Its summer again! Probably the best time of the year to take a break, go on an adventure and spend time with the people you love and have some fun.

I enjoy walking out in the sun, but am disgusted when I perspire and get that icky sweaty feeling.

Im thrilled about having a reason to shop for new wardrobe, but am afraid at how expensive it can be. (Just like how much you love wearing those onesies or those rompers but abhor having to take them off when its time to pee)

But just like a lot of women, I have this love hate relationship with the sunny season—I  love going on trips, but hate when I have to plan everything.

And most of all, I love the thought of being able to wear a swimsuit and flaunt it in the beach but hate all the hard work that it takes just to get in shape for them.

Good thing you don’t have to starve yourself to lose those pounds and tone down in time for that beach trip. You just have to know how to choose the right kind of swimwear for you!

In time for Women’s Month, SM Woman and Coco Cabana held a fashion show at the SM Makati to showcase their vast collection of swimwear which is designed to fit any kind of body shape.

SM Woman  Coco Cabana's 2018 Summer Collection features stylish swimwear, resort wear, hyper botanicals, fun and flirty ruffles, classic black and white suits, sleek and sexy metallics, and suede numbers.

So whether you are reed thin, a bit on the chubby side, voluptuously sexy, flatchested, pear shape, or afraid of showing off you thunder thighs, all you have todo is spend a little more time in the fitting room to find the best swimsuit for you.

I admit most of my one piece suits are in black. Because we all  know that black looks good on everyone and gives of that illusion of slimness right? But after seeing all those models show off SM Coco Cabana's collection and pair them with some cover ups. I’m pretty excited to explore some new colors and try on those playful prints.

When choosing swimwear for women here are a few things to keep in mind:  Swimwear material; know what the swimwear is for or where you are going to use it; and of course you should also be aware of your body type. So go on and get in front of a mirror.

If you’re going swimming in pools you are probably going to be exposed to a lot of chlorine. This will bleach your swimwear over time and cause it to become baggy. Check the label or look for for swimwear that advertises chlorine resistance and shape retention, and that dries quickly.

Now if you are going to spend more time by the pool instead of in it, look for high UV resistant swimwear.

If you have a bodily feature you like to showoff go for bright colors to highlight it, use solid colors to hide a less loved feature.

Dark purples and navy blues are good for pale skin. Bright colors are better for darker skin

Next is to know what the swimwear is for. If you are going for a lot of swimming forget a string bikini unless you plan on going topless after a few minutes. Go for a one piece sport swimwear if you plan on doing some water activity and change to a bikini when its time to shoot those IG photos.

Now for the most important part knowing your body shape. Ensuring you have the right swimwear for body shape is vital. It’s important to be honest with yourself—otherwise you are only going to fool yourself.

If your body is short in proportion to your legs, you will want a swimsuit that gives the impression of litheness. Try a bikini with a halter-top to emphasize the bust and shoulders. Pair this top with bikini bottoms that sit low on the hips.

To give the impression of long legs, try a one-piece swimsuit or bikini with high-cut legs. High-cut legs shorten the torso and lengthen the legs.

Pear shaped? Don’t be scared, go for an eye-catching bikini or tankini top with subdued bottoms in a dark color. This type of swimsuit will draw attention toward your more appealing characteristics.

If you are gifted in the bust area, look for a straight across cut at the top of your swimsuit with wide set straps to minimize your bust. Also, be sure to try a bikini top with a hidden underwire for extra support.

Feeling a bit flat? Add curves and subtle cleavage by going for a bikini top with triangle-shaped cups and a tie-front. These features will add shape and the appearance of size to your small bust.

If you are a plus size you will want to look for swimsuits in darker colors, as these colors will have an overall minimizing effect. But like I said you don’t have to limit yourself to black. Deep reds and blues will have the same effect and are a bit more appropriate for summer fun.

Now if you have the curves and want to show them off, accentuate them with a fitted swimsuit with a defined waist and a high percentage of Lycra/spandex. A high-cut leg will also slim your legs and hips.

Got a Flabby Stomach? You can still wear a bikini with pride just choose a loose tankini instead of a bikini or 1-piece. Bikinis totally expose a jiggly belly, and trying to squeeze into a one-piece will not slim your stomach, only emphasize it.

So now that you know how to choose the right swimwear all you need to do is head over to SM Stores and find the perfect one for you!
