Empowered Women Rule on TikTok

March is National Women’s Month in the Philippines, a special occasion celebrated in honor of International Women’s Day. During this month-long event, we recognize the achievements made by notable Filipinas and women worldwide, as well as the steps they have taken to promote change and raise awareness for issues that truly matter.  

In recent years, social media has become a platform for many of these empowered ladies to spread their advocacies. Through this, they have found a way to get their messages across to a wider range of people. Social media has also allowed them to build and nurture online communities that uplift and provide support for other women all around the globe. 

Indeed, there is no limit to what an empowered woman is capable of doing. This Women’s Month, in honor of all the strong, inspirational females we look up to, we’ve rounded up some of the best videos from empowered women on TikTok. Confidence is power

One common trait possessed by every powerful woman is confidence. Having a strong sense of self, and faith in their own abilities enables these women to rise up and pursue their dreams. Two stellar examples of women of confidence are Zozibini Tunzi and Catriona Grey, who have both worn the crown of Miss Universe. 

Being beautiful inside and out, their self-assurance shines through as a perfect complement to their physical beauty. These women are queens in their own right, who have used their time in the spotlight to break boundaries, and advocate for equality, inclusion, and women’s rights.

An empowered woman embraces her quirks

There is beauty in imperfection, and a woman who is able to embrace her quirks can definitely be considered empowered. A positive attitude like this can uplift others, and inspire them to accept and love themselves as they are.

Local celebrities like Jodi Sta. Maria, Bela Padilla and Isabelle Daza are not afraid to show their quirky self online, making them more relatable and endearing to their followers. Their videos on TikTok show that these women have the ability to not take things too seriously, and remember to enjoy life amidst any challenges they might face.

A talented woman is an empowered one

When people use their talents for good, they are able to make an impact on others, touch lives, and even drive positive change. We see this clearly in actors, musicians, athletes, and personalities who have gained global recognition in what they do, and are considered to be role models. These empowered individuals help shape the future by inspiring the youth to aim high and reach for the stars. 

Two examples of empowered and talented individuals are artists, Donnalyn Bartolome and Alicia Keys. Their music has made waves in the local scene and abroad, and both women are true icons who bring joy to their fans.

The Voice Season 12 exclusively returns to Star World

Star World, FOX Networks Group (FNG) Philippines’ number one female-oriented general enter-tainment channel announced today the return of the well-loved and three-time Emmy winning talent show, The Voice. The Voice Season 12 exclusively premieres in the Philippines on February 28, 2017 (Tuesday) only on Star World with live telecasts every 2:00 PM and primetime replays at 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM respectively.

Exciting turn of events are in-store for the viewers on the latest season of The Voice as we continue on the search for the next best voice that will shake the music industry to the core. The season premiere of The Voice marks the sweet return of Gwen Stefani as she once again secures her judging spot, rounding up the girl power action on the competition up against Adam Levine and once again reunited with her partner, Blake Shelton.

The latest season of The Voice boosts a bigger, better and more engaging experience than it has on its previous season by bringing in the biggest and most recognizable names in the music industry as adviser to the coaches, making everything a match made in heaven; Celine Dion joins Gwen Stefani as an adviser taking the femme fatal action to high roads. On the other corner of music, five-time winner of show, Blake Shelton is joined by Luke Bryan — a tandem easy on the eyes and easy on dynamics as the two have worked together before to co-host the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Adam Levine pairs up with a legend, John Legend that is. These swoon-worthy gents collaborate to take ordinary people to the next level while keeping their dapper in check. Running on her second season for The Voice, Alicia Keys, is all about winning as she teams up with award-winning hip hop artist DJ Khaled, and everyone sure knows, that all he does is win no matter what.

Alicia Keys New Song "Its On Again" on "Amazing Spider-Man 2 "

“AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2” TO INCLUDE ALICIA KEYS' NEW SONG “IT'S ON AGAIN”

  Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that the highly anticipated motion picture “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will feature “It’s On Again” by Alicia Keys featuring Kendrick Lamar, written exclusively for the film by Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, and Kendrick Lamar produced by Pharrell Williams.

The song will also be included on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, the musical companion to the film, which arrives in the U.S. on Tuesday, April 22, and will be released by Columbia Records and Madison Gate Records. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will be released in Philippine theaters on April 30, 2014, and in the U.S. on May 2, 2014.

Commenting on the announcement, Marc Webb, the film’s director, said, “We were looking for just the right song to close out the film – a song that would be upbeat and exciting, but also contain a note of foreboding. Alicia’s song, ‘It’s On Again,’ is the perfect end note. For the overall score, I’m so amazed by what Hans Zimmer and the Magnificent Six were able to achieve with the music in the film. Every director wants his movie to have a unique sound, but this is beyond unique. It’s completely unlike any movie score that’s come before.

Keys added, “I'm very excited to be a part of such a powerful collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams and Hans Zimmer. This is the next chapter in the Spider-Man legacy and we really feel ‘It’s On Again’ captures the experience, the story—and most importantly—the meaning behind the film, which is that we all have the potential to be extraordinary. There’s a little bit of a Super Hero in all of us.”

Zimmer said, “When we came together to form a band to create the music of this film, we did the opposite of what composers usually do – we wrote songs, and from the songs came the themes. We embraced a rock-and-roll ethos on this movie, and it paid off.”

Williams said, “Hans has created an iconic score theme and it was exciting to collaborate with him again on this song. When I was making the song, I knew Alicia and Kendrick had to be on it. They take the song to a whole new level."

The film’s epic score was composed by Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Hans Zimmer and The Magnificent Six, which features Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr (of The Smiths, Modest Mouse), Michael Einziger (of Incubus), Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski, and Steve Mazzaro. The soundtrack also features new songs exclusive to the film performed by Pharrell Williams, The Neighbourhood, LIZ, and Alvin Risk. In addition, Phosphorescent’s “Song for Zula” is also featured on the soundtrack.
