Best Places to Work says that Amway PH delivers outstanding work experience for its employees

Amway Philippines has been hailed as the top workplace in the country in 2022 by Best Places to Work, a prestigious international certification program that’s considered as the “Platinum Standard” in identifying and recognizing top workplaces around the world.

According to Best Places to Work, Amway Philippines—the local affiliate of Amway, a leading entrepreneur-led health and wellness company and the number 1 direct-selling company in the world—ensures that their “employees are happy, healthy, and enjoy coming to work”. In fact, Amway also emerged as the program’s fifth best place to work in the world in 2022 for “demonstrating excellence in the workplace by creating differentiated employee experiences and inclusive cultures that lead to stronger, more sustainable business results”.

The international organization pointed out that despite the global challenges of increasing employee turnover and declining engagement level, the average level of engagement of the Amway Philippines and the seven other top employers in the Philippines is at 84%.

“This achievement not only demonstrates the ongoing commitment of those employers to building and sustaining an open and transparent work environment, but also their efforts in keeping business engagement firmly rooted in trust, ethics, and behaviors,” Best Places to Work underlined.

To determine the top workplaces in the Philippines for the year, Best Places to Work deployed a methodology that aims to understand how well organizations engaged their employees and demonstrated best human resources or HR practices. Every year in Philippines, the program also partners with over 50 organizations across different industries to help them measure, benchmark, and improve their HR practices and use data-driven insights to add value, enhance agility, and increase organizational effectiveness.

“This recognition from no less than a prestigious international body is an affirmation of Amway Philippines’ longstanding commitment to our employees’ overall wellbeing. We believe that organizations where employees feel valued can provide the best level of service to their customers and stakeholders,” said Leni Olmedo, the Country Manager of Amway Philippines.

“This belief is founded on The Founders’ Fundamentals and Values which are deeply embedded in our corporate culture globally and remain unchanged since the company’s inception in 1959. These values of partnership, integrity, achievement, personal worth, personal responsibility, and free enterprise have guided decision-making at all levels, and for this reason, there is a great sense of belongingness and cohesiveness within the organization. This achievement will further inspire us to work harder to sustain and strengthen our employee engagement and workplace culture.”

Here's the secret to good health!

The pandemic hit hard last year and got everyone rethinking their health habits in fear of catching the disease, that’s for sure. But the secret to good health is and has always been within reach, according to retail giant Amway Philippines.

“You achieve good health by taking care of yourself and keeping a balanced diet, giving your body the nutrients it needs and the love it deserves,” says Leni Olmedo, Country Manager of Amway Philippines. “A well-balanced plate has a lot of colors – lots of fruits and vegetables.”

Despite the Philippines being rich with lands and farms full of fruit and vegetable crops, a colorful plate just isn’t a common sight in Filipino dining tables. Good thing Amway’s plant-based health supplement brand Nutrilite is launching its new flagship product, the Next Generation of Nutrilite Double X, which can help color in these gaps in Filipino diets.

The food supplement contains sophora japonica, turmeric, rosemary, and a special blend of berries among other carefully selected fruits and vegetables. Jampacked with vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients, this supplement is actually a level up of the company’s previous flagship product of the same name. The original mutivitamin had phytonutrients that took reactive defenses against excess free radicals in the body – which is known to accelerate ageing. In the upgrade, the phytonutrients take proactive defenses by eliminating excess free radicals in the cells themselves.

“Our hearts have always been centered on helping our consumers lead healthier and more empowered lives,” Olmedo shares. “So we are constantly finding ways to innovate and improve. That’s why we were able to make our best supplement even better.”

Nutrilite boasts of having its own certified organic farms where they plant and source majority of their ingredients. This has allowed the company to make supplements that are traceable down to the very seed of its ingredients so consumers can be confident that their vitamins are pure, safe, and effective. For Nutrilite™ Double X, over 90% of its botanical ingredients are sourced in these farms.

“It’s not just about creating products and selling them. It’s about finding the best solutions and going the extra mile to ensure that they live up to their promise, and that’s what we do in Amway,” says Olmedo.

Amway Philippines partners with Department of Education (DepEd) for the EaseKul launch

Amway Philippines, together with long-time CSR partner Department of Education (DepEd), has donated used laptops to public schools to enable continuous learning amid the pandemic. The partners are also launching EaseKul (pronounced as “iskul”) – a project that will provide trainings on health, beauty, and agriculture to help augment the incomes of displaced parents and teachers in these trying times.

As classes resume and shift to digital platforms in the middle of a health pandemic, the direct selling company and DepEd started the Oplan Balik-Skwela project: kicking off with a donation of laptops to 10 public schools last August 17, 2020. During the turnover, several school representatives received the laptops, remarking on how the donation will be of much help. “Simula po nung dumating ako sa school, wala pa rin silang laptop,” Roger Malawit, Principal of Magumbali Elementary School North District in Pampanga, gratefully expressed. (Ever since I started teaching in the school, they had no laptops.) Aside from Pampanga, other areas selected for the donation include Malolos, Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, and Mandaluyong.

“Meanwhile, EaseKul is part of DepEd’s Learning Continuity Program (LCP) and hopes to extend learning opportunities to stay-at-home moms and dads and displaced teachers so they can gain new skills to help augment their income,” says Leni Olmedo, Country Manager of Amway Philippines. “We’ve always offered trainings on agri-farming, livelihood, beauty, and health and wellness among our direct sellers or Amway Business Owners (ABOs) to help build their skill sets. Now, we are extending those training modules to others, but we have modified them to better fit our new audience.”

Donation turnover in Amway’s office attended by DepEd officials Usec. Tonisito Umali, Esq., Partnership Director Edel Carag, and Partnership Officer Carol Labrague, and Amway representatives: Country Manager Leni Olmedo, CSR Lead Owen Rea, NCR Volunteer Team Leader Michael Padre, HR Manager JM Federico, Sales Manager Edmund Guinto, and Marketing Manager Christine Valmonte

DepEd’s LCP includes webinars that are held via Facebook Live. While most of these are on disaster risk management, adjusting to the new normal, and addressing psychological needs, EaseKul is changing the game by offering skills-based trainings that parents and teachers alike can use in their daily lives and to find additional sources of revenue especially during this crisis.

Tonisito M.C. Umali Esq., Undersecretary for External Partnerships, stated during the laptop donation turnover.

(Despite the current situation, we have hope that we’ll be able to improve the quality of education for all with the help of partners like Amway Philippines.)

EaseKul will start late October, with over 300 participants to be identified by DepEd and issued a memorandum regarding the training.

Amway Philippines: Consumers don’t just want healthy, they want healthier

The current pandemic has caused increasingly health conscious consumers to reevaluate their lifestyle and demands, and these changes were noted by direct selling industry leader Amway Philippines as they monitored the sales of their health supplements.

“Even before the lockdown, there was already a surge in demand for immunity-related products such as our Nutrilite health supplements, especially our own vitamin C, Acerola C, and B Vitamins,” recalls Leni Olmedo, Country Manager of Amway Philippines. “Though there is no specific supplement that’s been found to prevent catching illnesses, consumers continue to take these to support their balanced diet in hopes of being less vulnerable.”

As per Euromonitor, Amway’s plant-based health supplement line Nutrilite is the only global vitamin and dietary supplement brand that grows, harvests, and processes plants on their own certified organic farms. “We monitor the entire process from seed to supplement and this level of traceability is what drives customer trust and confidence in our products,” Olmedo reveals.

Organic has a healthy connotation to consumers since pesticide- and chemical-free are considered to be safe and more nutritious. Recent research by Ecovia Intelligence show that organic and sustainable food retailers all over the globe are also experiencing significant increases in sales amidst the health crisis, and that the demand for these products is expected to remain strong post-COVID-19.

“Many will keep to these healthy eating habits to help protect themselves, so this amplified awareness and these demands on health and wellness will surely continue to be relevant in the future,” Olmedo adds.

The country manager further shares that this crisis has taught them that consumers prefer brands that are purpose-driven, and that they form strong relationships with companies that they can trust. “Our traceable process ensures consumers that what we offer is pure, safe, and effective, so we are able to secure the loyalty of our local customer base especially during the pandemic wherein health is a major concern.”

She concludes, “During these uncertain times, Filipinos will remember brands that are able to service them well and meaningfully.”
