Puregold CinePanalo 2025: A New Wave of Filmmakers Takes the Spotlight

Puregold CinePanalo 2025 is once again shining the spotlight on Filipino filmmakers, especially the next generation of storytellers. This year’s festival is a celebration of passion and creativity, offering student filmmakers the chance to showcase their incredible short films on the big screen. These young creatives didn’t just tell stories—they brought them to life with raw talent and authenticity. The actors in these films have truly left a mark, proving that the future of Filipino cinema is bright.

Seven full-length film projects were also selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants, further elevating the festival’s prestige. The filmmakers and their projects were recently introduced at a press conference held at the Artson Events Place in Quezon City. Riding on the success of last year’s event, Puregold CinePanalo has quickly become one of the most anticipated festivals in the local film industry.

Representatives from the Mowelfund Film Institute joined the press event, expressing their support for this year’s roster of filmmakers. With millions of pesos in production grants up for grabs, the festival provides substantial support to these creative minds. For the 2025 run, eight winning filmmakers will receive ₱3,000,000 each, while twenty-four student filmmakers are awarded ₱150,000 each to bring their stories to life.

Puregold CinePanalo continues to be a vital platform for Filipino talent to shine, showcasing the limitless potential of local cinema and inspiring a new wave of storytellers.

Representatives from the Mowelfund Film Institute came out to show their support for this year’s line up of filmmakers. 

With Puregold CinePanalo once again raring to provide millions in production grants to select participants, aspiring new filmmakers were spurred to craft more uplifting stories with the theme, “Mga Kwentong Panalo ng Buhay”. 

 

At the press conference, Puregold CinePanalo proudly presented these worthy participants to attendees that comprised festival organizers as well as representatives from the festival’s various partners such as the MTRCB, Gateway Cineplex 18, Mowelfund, Terminal Six, CMB Films, and MFP Rentals.

 

Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, senior marketing manager for Puregold, spoke enthusiastically about working with a fresh batch of filmmakers. “After an intensely competitive application period, these directors came out on top of the heap,” she said. “We know they will produce excellent, gripping work and we can’t wait to share these with the viewing public at the upcoming festival.”

 

The Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival will forthwith showcase directors and stars of varying experience and acclaim within the industry, with the star-studded 2025 edition highlighting the filmmaking domain’s rich reserves of talent.

 

Mes de Guzman directs Sepak Takraw, starring Enzo Osorio, Nicollo Castillo, Ruby Ruiz, and Acey Aguilar. JP Habac’s Olsen’s Day will feature Khalil Ramos, Romnick Sarmenta, and child actor Xander Nuda. Tara Illenberger helms the film Tigkiliwi starring Ruby Ruiz in her second Puregold CinePanalo feature, Gabby Padilla, and Julian Paul Larroder. Dynamic duo Christian Paolo Lat & Dominic Lat are directing Journeyman, starring JC Santos and Jasmine Curtis-Smith.

 

TM Malones will be working on Salum with stars Allen Dizon and Christine Mary Dimaisip. Jill Singson Urdaneta’s Co-Love will showcase KD Estrada, Alexa Ilacad, Jameson Blake, and Kira Balinger. 

 

Meanwhile, Baby Ruth Villarama’s Food Delivery: Fresh from the West Philippine Sea will mark the first-ever documentary to join the Puregold CinePanalo line up. Another historic first sees noted producer Catsi Catalan making her directorial debut with the film Fleeting, starring Janella Salvador and RK Bagatsing.

After weeks of building anticipation and dropping hints on their social media platforms, Puregold has finally unveiled the music video to the new song “Nasa Atinang Panalo.”

Released this past May 25, the video is a must-watch for Pinoy pop fans. It serves as the ultimate collaboration of four of the country’s most sizzling musical acts: SB19, BINI, SunKissed Lola, and Flow G.

“These four artists are the powerhouse acts in Philippine music today. SB19 Joins Puregold's Stellar OPM Lineup!

Puregold engaged in Tree-planting activity

 

On November 25, 2023, some 250 Puregold team members traveled from Manila to Barangay Maragondon in Real, Quezon, and trekked to the mountains to engage in an organizational tree-planting activity. 

Held as part of Puregold’s contribution to global sustainability efforts, the event kicked off the first phase of its tree-planting program, which started with the adoption of a 70-hectare forest land in the heart of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. Bearing the theme of the Department of Natural Resources {DENR}’s banner National Greening Program—‘Tayo ang Kalikasan’—Puregold aims to help attain the four key objectives of DENR’s national greening efforts: poverty reduction; providing food security; contributing to environmental stability and biodiversity conservation; and enhancing climate change mitigation and adaptation. The estimated 41,000 trees to be grown in the area will include indigenous trees, coffee and cacao plants, and other fruit-bearing trees.

 

The laudable program is under a tripartite agreement between Puregold, represented by its President Vincent Co; DENR-CALABARZON, represented by Regional Executive Director Nilo Tamoria; and people’s organization Samahan ng mga Magsasaka at Mangingisda ng Pinaglapatan (SMMP), represented by its Chairman Jimmy Versoza. 

 

The key feature of the agreement is to spur SMMP to nurture, maintain, and protect the planted area in the next five years to ensure the proper growth of the seedlings until they are fully stable. Additionally, the forest products expected to be harvested from this expansive reforestation effort, particularly cacao and coffee, are poised to become sustainable sources of livelihood for the organization and the community.

 

Puregold President Vincent Co expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "Our tree-planting initiative aligns with our commitment to environmental sustainability and community empowerment. By adopting 70 hectares of land in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, we not only contribute to reforestation efforts but also create positive impact on the lives of our brothers and sisters in Maragondon."

 

Puregold’s resolve goes beyond Luzon. The company intends to replicate this project in Visayas and Mindanao to fulfill its target of planting at least 100,000 trees in the next three years—part of its broader vision of promoting sustainability and conservation across the entire archipelago.

 

Meantime, the activity last November was highlighted by the planting of 3,000 narra tree seedlings, narra being declared as our National Tree, and 50 Palawan Cherry Blossoms, locally known as ‘Balayong,’ to create an inspiring foliage in the area for forthcoming generations.
