BRIA Homes focuses on expanding in Visayas and Mindanao

For the past decadesFilipinos had perceived progress as Manila-centric, with their vision and goals aligned with this mindsetMoving to the national capital region, where employment and business opportunities abound, was the dream-come-true.

Times have changed, howeverWith continuous economic growth in regions outside Metro Manila, Filipinos are choosing to stay in the towns and cities of their birth, confident that they can give their families a better life without the need to uproot themselvesAnd as if to affirm this, longtime metro residents are going back to their home provinces, as well.

Quick to ride on the momentum and wanting to support progress in regions outside the capital, BRIA Homes continues to build residential projects in various towns and key cities away from the metro.

In fact, BRIA Homes is resolutely expanding in Visayas and Mindanao to meet the demand for affordable, sturdy, and stylish homes for Filipinos, both locals and migrants

The figures say it all. BRIA Homes, the fastest-growing mass housing developer in the Philippines, now has more than fifty mass-housing projects in the country, with a large number of developments located in the progressive south.

In the Visayas, BRIA Homes can be found in Samar, Leyte, and Negros Occidental. In Mindanao, BRIA has builtcommunities in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, South Cotabato, and North Cotabato. All these, plus more developments in the works, were built to meet the need for secure, safe, and easy-on-the-pocket residences for Filipinos in Visayas and Mindanao.

To date, BRIA Homes has provided homes for a lot of Filipinos with the help of its winning formula: Affordability (Mura) + Superior Quality = a beautiful BRIA Home for Every Filipino.

This formula has enabled Filipinos to own a BRIA unit for as low as P1,897 per month, offered at convenient payment schemes such as PAG-IBIG and bank financing.

Aside from the affordability of its homes, BRIA takes pride in its communities’ strategic location. Residents of BRIA Homesare always near key destinations such as schools, hospitals, business districts, commercial establishments, and major roads and highways.

Filipino families living in BRIA Homes also take delight in its amenities such as eco-friendly spaces and basketball courts. Guarded entrances, 24-hour security, and perimeter fences also ensure their safety and security

To cater to the varying needs of its future residents, BRIA communities offer condominium units and house and lot packages in different sizes and designs.

To be sure, Filipinos who choose to work and raise their families in Visayas and Mindanao will savor ‘the better life’ once they move to a BRIA home.

Gabay Guro pays homage to Philippine teachers through the Grand Gathering and launch of a new app

Gabay Guro, PLDT-Smart Foundation’s flagship advocacy program for teachers, recently celebrated its 12th anniversary with a prize-filled and all-star Grand Gathering, along with the launch of the Gabay Guro app on September 22 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

PLDT-Smart Foundation President Esther Santos, Alexandria and the Centers of Wisdom Corp. (Philippine Distributor of XSEED Education) Chairman John B. Echauz, Maricel Bustillo of Las Pinas National Senior High School, CAA Campus, winner of brand-new house and lot and Gabay Guro Chairperson, PLDT SVP & Smart CFO Chaye Cabal-Revilla

This year’s event, Gabay Guro gathered over 20,000 teachers from all over the country to experience a historical Teachers’ Tribute, which was headlined by the country’s biggest stars such as Aegis, Angeline Quinto, Christian Bautista, Eat Bulaga’s Jose and Wally, BakClash and Broadway Boys, Erik Santos, Ian Veneracion, Jaya, Jay-R, Jayson Dy, Jed Madela, Jona, K Brosas, Klarisse De Guzman, Kyla, Kuh Ledesma, Martin Nievera, Moira dela Torre, Ogie Alcasid, Piolo Pascual, Pops Fernandez, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Zephanie Dimaranan, and Gabby Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta, who were reunited by a performance on-stage after a very long time. In support for the Gabay Guro, talent managements Cornerstone Entertainment Inc. and Eat Bulaga enlisted their celebrity talents to perform for the Grand Gathering as volunteers.

In addition to all the artists that entertained the teachers during the event, Department of Education secretary Leonor Briones also graced the evening with her presence.

Many prizes were given away to the attendees, but two lucky teachers won the event’s grand prizes—Mary Jean Libot of Mother Divine Providence School won a brand new Foton Gratour van, while Maricel Bustillo of Las Pinas City National Senior High School – CAA Campus won a new house and lot.

The launch of the Innovations pillar

The highlight of this year’s celebration was the launch of Gabay Guro’s seventh pillar: Digital Innovations, which highlights the newly-launched Gabay Guro app. The Digital Innovations Pillar takes its place among the original six core pillars established in 2007: classroom donation, scholarships, teachers’ training, livelihood programs, Connectivity and Computerization, and the Teachers’ Tribute.

The new Digital Innovations Pillar of Gabay Guro aims to reinforce the digital transformation for Filipino teachers, school leaders, and stakeholders by equipping them with new modes of teaching and the latest technology that will enable them to create, grow, and evolve their craft for the benefit of their students.

Backed by this new learning pillar, Gabay Guro introduces an application for teachers that will provide e-learning content and interactive technology and ready-to-use online tools that are aligned with the DepEd and CHED curriculum. This will provide teachers with the latest and easily accessible educational resources right at their fingertips. The new Gabay Guro app will be launched before the end of the year.

“Gabay Guro continues to develop innovative programs for our teachers and our partners in nation-building,” Gabay Guro Chairperson Chaye Cabal-Revilla said. “Every year, it is our great honor to be able to give back to our teachers through a grand tribute and we always look forward to continuing this mission and empower them through Gabay Guro’s previously six and now seven core pillars of learning.”

This coming October 24, Gabay Guro is bringing the program closer to the teachers in the Northern part of the country. A regional Teachers’ Tribute will be staged in Ilocos Norte, to bring quality entertainment and to give away a lot of prizes to the Ilocano teachers who did not make it to the Grand Gathering. It is one of Gabay Guro’s ways to show its sincerity in giving back and being inclusive to all the teachers all over the Philippines.

She loves it so much because she can put what’s in her mind on paper.

Created to create
We believe that our students need a goal or a purpose to work on lest they do art out of routine, then wane in their passion after a while. This competition was a channel where through which young artists and their teachers are motivated to practice more, learn more, and be better than they are, year after year,” Saw shared.  “While the event teaches students determination and independence, it is also during healthy competitions like this that students’ horizons are broadened.”
Art with a heart
Global Art Philippines is a unique art school where toddlers, kids and teenagers are encouraged to unleash their creative potential through world-class art enrichment programs. These activities and programs give kids the opportunity to develop their appreciation for art and hone their intrinsic gifts of exploration, self-expression, logical thinking, self-esteem, imagination, and creativity.

“Most values our students learn in class have positively impacted their personal lives. They are taught that the world is a big canvas and it’s up to them to leave it blank, or start living their lives in full optimistic colors,” Saw concluded.

A company founded in Malaysia in 1999 by Mr. Mahair Goh, Global Art teaches children not only how to copy a drawing but to create their own artwork, design and interpretation through different techniques. Aside from South East Asia where it first opened (it has branches in China and India), art schools can also be found North America, Australia, The Middle East, and Africa.

NeoStrata helps you turn back time

To age gracefully there isnt just one secret. It takes a collection of products that will help you restore, protect and regenerate one's skin. In my experience, I have tried all the skincare that is available in the market. In fact,  one set of a famous anti-aging skincare went plateau on my skin for 5 years of continuous use. That's why I am always changing skincare products every now and then and still on the lookout for that one anti-aging skincare to help me turn back time.

For a skincare that can help correct the signs of aging while preventing future damage, look no further with Neostrata. I'll be trying out their samples this week and will let you know.

FINOVATION 2019: Stakeholders generate relevant solutions for increased financial inclusion

Staying ahead of the innovation curve, leading online financial marketplace eCompareMo.com, through its parent company C88 Financial Technologies, Inc., partnered with global consumer credit reporting company Experian in 2018. This tech-driven collaboration has allowed eCompareMo.com to evolve from being a product-focused price comparison website to a customer-centric underwriting marketplace.
(L-R) Richard Lauder, Senior Vice President for Finance, C88 Financial Technologies Inc.; Ched Limson, COO, eCompareMo; Stephanie Chung, Co-Founder & CEO, eCompareMo; Benjamin Diokno, Governor, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas; J.P. Ellis, Co-Founder & Group CEO, C88 Financial Technologies, Inc.; and Patrick Chua, President, Snapcompare Corp.

J.P. Ellis, Co-Founder and Group CEO of C88 Financial Technologies, Inc., highlights this partnership as he discusses their new digital onboarding family of products at Finovation 2019: Real Problems, Real Solutions.

Held last September 25, 2019, at the Rigodon Ballroom of the Manila Peninsula, the annual fintech forum gathered key stakeholders from the banking and insurance industries, regulators and policymakers, cooperatives, and fintech players. Finovation facilitated thought leadership to generate relevant solutions for increased financial inclusion, focusing on improving credit access among financially underserved Filipinos.

Digital onboarding: a pioneering effort
Through its partnership with Experian, eCompareMo.com enables digital applications, onboarding, and decisioning for banks and financial institutions. This covers basic identification, verification, information gathering, and documentation, making a full online application possible.
Finovation 2019 Keynote Speaker, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Benjamin Diokno

Believing that Manila is a prime hub for digital transformation, Ellis believes that digital onboarding is a perfect fit for the country, bringing in a variety of benefits for both consumers and issuing financial institutions. “Digital onboarding represents the next generation of our platform,” says the group CEO in a media interview during Finovation. “It is a sequence of fintech steps through which financial institutions can acquire customers, validate, score, and underwrite them.”

Likening the process to Lego blocks, Ellis explains that digital onboarding can be constructed depending on either the customer’s profile or the product being acquired. The process, he emphasizes, makes the customer experience more native and convenient; on the other hand, expediting financial transactions digitally helps curb costs and processing time for financial institutions.

Government support and partnerships for fintech
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) actively supports initiatives like digital onboarding, recognizing fintech players as key partners for financial inclusion. In his keynote speech for Finovation, BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno emphasizes that the country’s central bank adopts an open and flexible approach to financial innovation. The governor notes that fintech plays a crucial role in strengthening inclusion, an agenda in line with the BSP’s policy objective of building an accommodating financial system for more Filipinos.
J.P. Ellis, Co-Founder & Group CEO, C88 Financial Technologies, Inc,talks about digital onboarding for financial services.

Taking on a forward-looking approach, Diokno raises the challenge of promoting fintech while simultaneously planning regulatory procedures for upcoming innovations. In this way, the digital financial ecosystem of the future becomes a safe, secure, affordable, and convenient mechanism that addresses the needs of a diverse market. Complementing existing and emerging fintech initiatives, Diokno shares the National Retail Payment System (NRPS), the BSP’s flagship program for digital finance.

“The NRPS is built on three core principles: interoperability, inclusiveness, and ‘coopetition,’” Diokno shares. “Through the NRPS, regulated institutions are required to adopt transparent and fair market pricing of electronic payments, transition from exclusive bilateral to multi-party clearinghouse agreements, and provide electronic fund transfer facilities in all available channels, among others.”
Jaime Garchitorena, President and CEO, Credit Information Corporation and Ira Paulo Gozon, Chief of Staff, Anti-Red Tape Authority discusses about Future Forward: Regulators’ Projects and Platforms.

The governor notes that the NRSP and the payment ecosystem envisioned to arise from it are positioned to become crucial platforms for further innovations. Through these, he says that industry players can utilize fintech solutions and provide services within an organized, commercially viable, and efficient retail payment system.

Looking ahead: the future of fintech in the Philippines
With strategic collaborations and government support at hand, eCompareMo.com moves forward in the digital sphere with confidence. Now with over thirty-five financial institutions fortifying their inventory of financial services, the comparison portal wishes to consistently make its clients feel fulfilled as they make major financial decisions through their website.

“Apart from giving them access to an ever-growing number of digital consumers, we have been providing technology solutions to financial institutions, among which digital onboarding is arguably the most significant to date,” says Stephanie Chung, Co-Founder and CEO of eCompareMo.com. “Our experience as a digital sales agency enables us to develop efficient, effective and compliant workflow systems to capture and process customer credit applications online. Our suite of solutions caters to financial institutions of any size, including cooperatives.”

“There is a lot more to do and we are looking forward to sharing and celebrating these future milestones with everyone in the industry at the appropriate times,” Chung concludes.
