Cool DIY scrapbook layouts at the Instax and Crafts 2016 Campaign

I have never been a "scrapper" for I know I dont have the creative juice to go with the hobby, but with the right materials like washi tapes, instax pictures, stampers, embellishments  and instax printer,  I was transformed into "scrapper beginner" mode.  Funny, at first I didnt know what to do,  staring at a blank space and pictures, but after some observation around and with the help of the professional scrapbookers,  I started tinkering, clicking, stamping, putting on washi tapes and labeling using different color markers. It was fun and addicting, just remember to scrapbooking only your very favorite photos and keep the rest in a box so that if you have the time and the vibes to scrap it, you know where to get your materials or better yet get an Instax mini to capture the best times of your life.

FUJIFILM Philippines Inc. launches “Instax and Crafts” at SMX Aura, SM Aura Premier in Taguig February 23. The event was hosted by Ms. Janeena Chan and celebrity guest Ms. Jasmine Curtis Smith. It is a fun afternoon of crafting with acclaimed TV-movie actress Jasmine Curtis Smith and Craft Manila who shared tips on how to make the most of your Instax memories.

Scrapbooking will never go out of style. It is a hobby commonly practiced in many parts of the world. It is fun, creative, and brimming with nostalgic memories. Aside from preserving memories, scrapbooking is a great way to make friends, expand your network, and create bonds.

Hobbyists, known as “scrappers” or “scrapbookers”, get together and scrapbook at each other’s homes, local scrapbook stores, scrapbooking conventions and just about anywhere.

There are, in fact, many creative ways to design and display your Instax photos including DIY calendars, photo books, and accordions.

Cute and compact, Instax cameras come in two types – the Instax mini series that are ideal for daily use and Instax WIDE series which are perfect for shooting group pictures. Instax is designed to produce pictures of high quality on the spot.

It comes in a variety of colors and styles and even the film you use comes in different eye-catching designs. There is also Instax Share printer that enables you to print out shots from your smartphones.

Instax camera is truly cuteness overload packed with basic photography settings you can play around with. And Jasmine Curtis Smith is the best person to join scrapbooking hobbyists as they take photos using Instax cameras as well as download and print the photos from their mobile devices, create their most beautiful scrapbook from their printed photos of families, travels, and even pets. Jasmine is bubbly, lovely, and fun, the embodiment of youth, talent, beauty and energy at its most beguiling.

Instax and Crafts ushers in Instax’s 2016 Campaign within which period a series of DIY sessions are going to be held nationwide. The roadshow will begin in Manila on April 2 to be followed by Cebu on April 16, and Davao on May 7.

Summer will definitely be delightful with the launch of Special Summer Packages for Instax mini 7s (Php 3,699), mini 8  (Php 4,999), Hello Kitty (Php 5,999), mini 70 (Php7,499), WIDE 300 (Php 7,499), and Instax share printer (Php 9,990).

Super Heroes faced off against each other in “BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE”

Born one year apart in separate runs of DC Comics, Batman and Superman have leapt off the page to become cultural touchstones across the globe, embraced by generations of fans through decades of social and political change. One orphaned by crime, the other by a dying planet; one shaped by his thirst for vengeance, the other by the values of his human family.

Their legends have fueled adaptations in every new medium under the sun, including landmark graphic novels and more than a dozen movies between them. But never have these two seminal Super Heroes faced off against each other on the big screen … until now, in Warner Bros. Pictures' epic action-adventure “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

The stage was set for their epic face-off in Snyder’s earlier foray into the DC Universe, “Man of Steel,” when Superman tears through Metropolis like a ballistic missile to defeat the alien enemy, General Zod, in an airborne battle that destroys Wayne Tower – and everyone inside it. In “Batman v Superman,” we’ll see that moment again, but this time through the eyes of Bruce Wayne as he runs into the billowing clouds of dust to search for survivors. Eighteen months hence, the scars are healing in Metropolis but not in the heart of the dark vigilante stalking the mean streets of nearby Gotham City.

This Batman has a score to settle, and both behind the mask and in the persona of Bruce Wayne, the character being brought to life in the film by Oscar winner Ben Affleck is older and far less idealistic than any we’ve seen thus far on screen. He’s facing off against a Superman who, while not as seasoned, has grown more confident in his powers and his place on this planet than the reluctant hero of “Man of Steel,” and after delivering the goods in that film, Henry Cavill is now fully owning both the role of the hero and his human identity, Clark Kent.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the film also stars Oscar nominees Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White; Oscar winners Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter as Senator Finch; and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.

Snyder directed from a screenplay written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer, based on characters from DC Comics, including Batman, created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, and Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Opening across the Philippines in 3D, 2D, and IMAX 3D theaters on Black Saturday, March 26, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Converse Jack Purcell Signature CVO re-introduces a classic Converse Silhouette

I love Converse Jack Purcell  next to my Chucks, most especially the new Converse release Jack Purcell Signature CVO, with its modern style, comfort and durability, the best badminton design of all time. With the white sneakers being the fashion trend today among girls and women. I might as well purchase this one before the summer begins, the black one is best to rock with jeans and top studs for that rock star vibe though.  Its best to upgrade with these new pair

The Spring/Summer 2016 seasons introduces the new Converse Jack Purcell Signature CVO featuring a durable 2-ply duck canvas upper. Additional features include a seamless toe construction; original two-pieced smile; an OrthoLite footbed (that is lightweight, has anti-odor properties, high-level of breathability, moisture wicking and long-term cushioning) and Zoom Air technology, as well as a herringbone outsole for traction that was first introduced on the Signature model last year.

Leni Robredo Remembers People Power-Inspired Love Story with Jesse

Liberal Party (VP) vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo can’t help but remember her love story with the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo every time the country commemorates EDSA People Power I.

After all, Leni and Jesse crossed paths days after the Bloodless Revolution inspired both of them to return to Naga City and start a career in public service.

“Ang love story namin ni Jesse ay produkto ng People Power. Bumalik kami ng Naga ni Jesse para manilbihan,” Robredo said.
Jesse returned to Naga City in 1986 to assume the position of Program Director of the Bicol River Basin Development Program (BRBDP), where she met Leni.

Back then, Robredo was a fresh economics graduate from the University of the Philippines and was applying for her first job. It was also Jesse who interviewed and hired her.

“Kaga-graduate ko pa lang sa UP ng Economics, umuwi po ako sa amin para magtrabaho. Iyong pinakauna ko pong boss ay ang aking asawa. Doon po kami nagkakilala,” Robredo said.
One year after their meeting, Jesse and Leni got married.

In 1988, Jesse won as mayor of Naga City while Leni pursued her dream of becoming a lawyer, completing her law degree at University of Nueva Caceres (UNC). She passed the bar examination in 1997.

After passing the bar examination in 1997, Robredo worked as lawyer for the Public Attorney’s Office and later as a free legal aid lawyer for Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Pang Legal (SALIGAN), a non-government organization dedicated to empowering members of marginalized sectors.

For almost a decade, Robredo spent her time as lawyer doing pro-bono legal work for farmers, fishermen, abused women, urban poor and indigenous peoples.

"Risen" Just in time for Holy Week

SM Cinema presents a cinexclusive entitled “RISEN:” an action, mystery, and drama film as told by a roman soldier commanded to disprove rumors of a risen Messiah in order to prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.

RISEN is the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius (Joseph Fiennes), a powerful Roman military tribune, and his aide, Lucius (Tom Felton), are tasked to solve and refute the mystery of a “Messiah’s” resurrection in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to avert a revolution in Jerusalem. Following the directive of Roman prefect Pontius Pilate who had been urged by the Pharisees and scribes to seal and guard the tomb of the supposed “King of the Jews,” Centurion Clavius was forced to resolve the conspicuous investigation of a tomb found empty three days after the Messiah’s execution. Initially speculating the involvement of the Christ’s disciples in stealing the body of Yeshua (Jesus as referred to Hebrew name in film), Clavius finds himself on a road of self-discovery, on who Jesus Christ truly was, and possibly why the mighty Roman Empire had felt threatened.

RISEN features renowned stars Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), Peter Firth (The Hunt for Red October; “MI-5”), and Cliff Curtis (“Fear the Walking Dead”).

Have a Holy Week at SM Cinema and enjoy “RISEN” beginning March 2, 2016. Visit your nearest SM Cinema branch or log on to www.smcinema.com for more details.

UNIQLO partners with ABS CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation for the "Upcycling Project"

What happens to the excess denim fabrics from alteration processes in UNIQLO stores in the Philippines? Everyday, UNIQLO collects denim fabrics from the customers who have their jeans altered. The scrap pieces of fabric are virtually unusable on their own, but UNIQLO Philippines and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation (ALKFI) found a way to use them and do some good.

Dubbed as the ‘Upcycling Project’, UNIQLO and ALKFI are providing an economic opportunity for disadvantaged women to support their families. With some creativity and on-site instruction from UNIQLO’s sewing takumi (sewing experts), these women have designed beautiful and functional bags from the alteration fabrics, which in turn were purchased by UNIQLO.  After several months of hard work, the first lot of 1,000 ‘upcycled’ denim bags is now complete.

“UNIQLO not only tries to make life better for our customers through high-quality products. We also want to support communities like the ABS-CBN Foundation’s Bayan ni Juan project in Calauan, Laguna,” says Katsumi Kubota, Chief Operations Officer, UNIQLO Philippines. “We want to give back to the community by providing training and an opportunity to empower these talented women.”

The women are from families who used to be an informal settler and lived along the polluted Pasig River in 2009. ABS-CBN Foundation’s Bayan ni Juan project relocated them to a community in Calauan, Laguna.

UNIQLO is committed to give back to communities and make the world a better place through the power of clothing. In 2006, UNIQLO began All-Product Recycling Initiatives globally, and from November 2015, the company also runs a special recycling campaign called ‘10 Million Ways to HELP,’ to collect lightly used UNIQLO clothes and distribute them for refugees and others in need worldwide. In addition, UNIQLO Philippines has its own unique program to help local communities, like the Upcycling Project.

“Through our Upcycling Project, we hope to restore the dignity among people and the environment, evenin a small way,” Kubota adds.

These upcycled denim tote bags will be distributed to consumers as novelty items during UNIQLO Philippines’events.

Apotheca helps you achieve your health goals

The first thing that comes to mind when you say "compounded medicine" is what is it and why is it necessary and what's the difference between the two (from the medicines that we buy in a local pharmacy and compounded medicine).  I had the privilege of attending the Apotheca Integrative Pharmacy event last February 12 at Legaspi Village Makati. and enlightened about what compounded medicine is and where to buy if your doctor prescribed you the medicine for compounding.

Pharmacy compounding is the art and science of preparing personalized medications for patients. Compounded medications are made based on a practitioners prescription in which individual ingredients are mixed together in the exact strength and dosage form required by the patient. It comes in the form of capsule, cream or gel, liquid or IM. It is often made in small quantities for the patient to be consumed, and you could wait or either pick it up provided you have the prescription for your medicine to be compounded.

Apotheca integrative Pharmacy the pioneering specialty compounding pharmacy in the country officially launched its wellness space that offers a wide variety of products that promote wholesome wellness and local goodness.

What I love about Apotheca Pharmacy is that aside from compounded medicines,  you can buy your hard-to-find organic products in their store, like the Human Nature products, green teas, chia seeds, organic veggies and fruits,  nutritional energy bars, juices, green teas, essential oils, and anything organic and is healthy, non gmo, gluten free products. While waiting for your compounded medicine, you can shop around and sip your coffee or buy that chia seeds for a healthy nutritious meal

Truly, this is the time for wellness and healthy living, to take proper care of our body.

“Apotheca is the destination for health and wellness. The brand of service that we will sustain to interact with our clients will be focused and personalized to help them achieve or refine their health goals,” said Richard Lista, President of Apotheca integrative Pharmacy;

Lista added that Apotheca specializes in custom compounding and advocates the strong communication and accountability between Doctor, Patient and Pharmacist, ultimater providing individuals a holistic way of choosing paths that support their wellness and healthy lifestyle. ‘

Apotheca is dedicated to high quality medication, superior service, personal relationships & smart product selections. it’s first wellness space is located at the Ground Floor of EuroVilla 4 Building, 853 A Arnaiz Avenue, Legaspi Village, Makati City. Apotheca is open from Mondays ti Friday 8:00am — 5:00pm; Saturdays 8:OOam — 12:00nn .
