Cebu Pacific brought back its “Fun for Little Juans"

It was a day for fun and shrieking as Cebu Pacific and AHA Learning Center brought 100 kids to experience thrilling rides and games at the Star City.

Cebu Pacific brought back its “Fun for Little Juans” – a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) engagement – and this time partnered with the AHA Learning Center for its first face-to-face community engagement.

AHA brought 100 kids and 50 guardians from a sponsored community in Tondo, Manila to have a day of fun and learning at the Star City.  AHA, which started in 2009 as a free after-school program in Makati, now directly supports more than 300 public school students in the National Capital Region.

Employees of Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ leading carrier, volunteered their time and energy to help organize the event and play with the kids who had a grand time at the theme park.

“This is the most fun activity we’ve had since the pandemic. Nothing beats the joy of seeing children happily playing and taking the carnival rides, after being cooped up inside their homes during the pandemic. We, at Cebu Pacific, enjoy sharing our time and resources with deserving Filipino communities,” said Carmina Romero, Director for Corporate Officer at Cebu Pacific.

Apart from enjoying the rides in the amusement park, the kids were also given snack, vitamins and care kit loot bags from sponsors such as Universal Robina Corporation, The Generics Pharmacy and Pascual Laboratories.

"Having a day like this means so much more to our students after the year they've had.", said Jaton Zulueta, AHA President and Founder. AHA Learning Center always highlights the milestones that their students have reached and this kind of celebration is a big win for everyone. Zulueta adds, "Today is a day that they will definitely never forget."

Founded in March 1996, CEB is the largest carrier in the Philippine air transportation industry, offering low-cost services to more destinations and routes with higher flight frequency within the Philippines than any other airline. Stewardship for its people, the environment and creating Juan Community are the airline’s major pillars in its sustainability journey. CEB currently offers flights to 34 Philippine and 18 international destinations, spanning Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

Sagip Babae Foundation is a newly created organization dedicated to offering safe spaces for women

There's no magic words to heal someone from sexual harassment or abuse. Its a lifetime scar that would leave a mark to those who suffered from these sexual misconduct. I know, I have a friend from college who underwent the same.

It would take a process to heal and eventually forget. We can all be supportive by listening and get access to a foundation that they need for healing.

Sagip Babae Foundation launches its operations on July 29 at Bondi&Bourke in Makati. The  launch marks the start of Sagip Babae Foundation’s online Facebook community for women survivors of abuse, giving them access to various activities and resources that may prove beneficial in their journey towards healing and recovery.

Sagip Babae Foundation is a newly created organization dedicated to offering safe spaces for women who have suffered from—and survived—domestic violence, sexual harassment, and abuse in its myriad forms. Because such experiences can have severe short- or long-term effects on victims’ mental health, Sagip Babae will stress on granting aid and relief for these women in the aftermath of their ordeal.

The foundation’s launch couldn’t have come at a better time. The overall socioeconomic effects of the pandemic have created situations that render women more vulnerable to abuse. A recent study by the Commission of Population and Development (POPCOM) found that 25 percent of surveyed Filipino adults consider violence against women one of the more citical issues during the current health crisis.

Melissa Rina Profeta draws on her own personal experience as inspiration to help other women process their trauma

The deleterious effects of abuse likewise resonate with Sagip Babae founders Francesca Fugen and Melissa Rina Profeta’s own life experiences. They cite their personal trauma, as well as those of women they have helped, as their inspiration for starting Sagip Babae. Fugen and Profeta hope to provide—from the get-go—comforting assistance to women victims, aged 18 and above, from all over the country.
@lola_lamon To those who suffered from sexual abuse and domestic violenxe. You can go to Sagip Babae Foundation for support and healing. Check them out at FB Sagip Babae Community. #sexualharrasment #healing #rapevictims ♬ original sound - Lou Sv

Sagip Babae Foundation’s Facebook community will hold webinars and bi-monthly group sessions, and offer self-care strategies, wellbeing education, as well as more information on meditation and holistic healing. It will seek the best possible path of recovery and healing for beneficiaries by carefully matching them to the appropriate partner experts and practitioners. The foundation will shoulder all expenses for therapy and medication within their first month of participation, as well as half of the costs in the second and third months.

The foundation will have a dedicated counselor for the initial session with beneficiaries. Core team members, along with volunteers for the foundation, have undergone mental health first responder and psychological support training to ensure that each beneficiary receives competent treatment during their time with the foundation.

Sagip Babae commits to providing mental healthcare through its partnership with experts in the field such as Mr. AJ Sunglao, a licensed psychologist and mental health advocate, and Ms. Charlene R. Lucas, a registered psychologist and international clinical traumatologist. For a more extensive approach, Sagip Babae has also consulted with Third Eye Wellness, a provider of holistic healing services, and Ms. Jenny Umali, a life coach and Reiki practitioner.

To show their support for Sagip Babae’s cause, a slew of mental health professionals, officials from relevant government agencies and organizations, and influencers attended the launch. These include Ms. Carmen Reyes Zubiaga, an advocate for gender equality and chairperson at Angat Persons with Disabilities United 2030; Ms. Angel Dei, a social media content creator and women’s advocate; Ms. Cassie Uyoco, an influencer who advocates for destigmatizing mental health; Ms. Joyce Pring, a TV presenter and podcaster; and Cheris Faustino, a social media content creator and mental health advocate. A recorded video message from Senator Bong Go will also be shown at the event.

Sagip Babae hopes to forge lasting partnerships with these attendees moving forward in order to better serve their future beneficiaries. The foundation will endeavor to reach out to these women and offer them vital resources for safeguarding their mental health in the days ahead.

Triumph led the Inspiring ComforTalks on FB Live with comfident Filipinas Melissa Benipayo and Patricia Bobadilla

Comfort and confidence are key to living a happy life as shared today by two women Melissa Benipayo and Patricia Bobadilla as they talked about their everyday battles on official Triumph Philippines Facebook Page. The ComforTalks is hosted by Issa Litton.

When I think about the word comfort. It means freedom and a sense of security, and when you are comfortable you have the confidence to do your thing everyday.

Confidence is not something that you simply have. It takes a lot of work, it can take a long time to build, and there are days when you’re suddenly feeling blah and your sparkle just goes down the drain! But one thing's fore sure — the moment your confidence arrives is when you are comfortable inside out. This is why women come forth to comfort.

Heritage lingerie brand Triumph led this conversation with comfident Filipinas Melissa Benipayo and Patricia Bobadilla.

Just like many of us, these women didn’t have it easy because of the pandemic. Mel shared how she struggled after leaving her corporate job to become a stay-at-home working mom. Pat also described how she had a hard time putting her health first because of her 6-day workweek. Having to give up working on yourself because of a demanding schedule is surely something most women can relate to!

So how did they triumph over these? They conquered everyday battles through comfort. Pat learned this the hard way, as she’s used to giving up comfort just to look good. But what both of these ladies discovered from their experiences is that confidence is an “inside job”, and you can start by investing in a perfect underwear that will embrace and support you every day. “The right bra makes all the difference. You’ll feel comfortable and supported and ready to tackle whatever obstacles lay in front of you.", Mel added.

When it comes to this, Triumph’s selection of Non-Wired Edit Bra gives them the perfect, invisible fit that feels oh-so-comfy! "the Invisible Inside Out bra vanishes in the necklines and underarms with totally smooth edges. Even for my white shirts for casual wear, it is modestly covered.", Mel said. This invisible, breathable bra is perfect for girls who hate that “bakat” feeling especially with the unpredictable weather!

As a woman who’s uncomfortable with wires, Triumph’s Aqua Jade push up is Pat's pick, catering to Filipinas like her who crave comfort with style to boost their confidence. "It truly is a gift to us Filipinas because it prioritizes the needs of women when it comes to wearing underwear that suits our comfort and style." We can tell that Pat will definitely love these even more once she takes on a new adventure as a cabin crew!

Triumph has truly defined comfort through bras that give you worry-free support, security, and of course, style. When you feel that you are comfortably yourself, just like Pat and Mel, confidence oozes from within, inspiring you to triumph over anything life throws at you. Take their advice: comfort should be non-negotiable. Always choose underwear that makes you feel like your comfident self.

This year’s theme, ‘Make Your Green Mark’, highlights Acer’s care for the environment by reigniting its passion for sustainability practices and serves as a reminder for the collective efforts needed in making a “green mark.”

“Introduced in 2017, the Acer Day campaign has helped promote the company’s brand image among consumers as ‘Young and Stylish’, while promoting its advocacies, consumers, and channel partners. This year, with the focus on sustainable living and the promotion of the eco-friendly Vero series, Acer hopes to garner more support for environmental efforts and remind everyone of their duty to preserve and care for our planet,” said Andrew Hou, Acer Pan Asia Pacific President.

Acer Day 2022 will kick off with a manifesto video on August 3, 2022 at 8:00PM (GMT+0800hrs) featuring its 18 ambassadors from across seven regions. These include India’s Pankti Pandey, a zero-waste advocate and a TEDx Speaker; Malaysia’s Mei Yan, a top breakfast radio announcer who started an online channel called “Heal The Earth" to raise environmental awareness; Indonesian musicians Muhammad Pradana Budiarto and Ayudia C, environment patrons who wish to inspire entrepreneurs and start the #SayangBumi (love earth) greener lifestyle.

Also making appearances in the video are Vietnam’s Duong Thu Thao, a young and dynamic nature lover who follows a green lifestyle by practicing small sustainable actions daily ; Thailand’s Phakin Khamwilaisak, a leading musician and actor who has recently launched an environmental project entitled “Keb Ruk”; Taiwan's very own Atom Boyz-Earth, one of the most popular groups among the younger generation; and the Philippines’ group of Acer Day ambassadors, including Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo, Esports queen Alodia Gosiengfiao, and P-pop boy band sensation, SB19.

All of the Acer Day 2022 ambassadors are strong environment preservation advocates who have continued to make a positive impact to the global youth in their own ways.

The “Make Your Green Mark” campaign manifesto reads: A call to action for cleaner air, clearer waters, and a sustainable future. In the video, the Acer Day ambassadors share their passion to protect Mother Nature and encourage their fans and followers to make their green mark on the planet.

Pandamart continues to dominate the grocery delivery scene with over 5,000+ daily essentials

Now that COVID-19 cases are rising up again, the thought of going out scares everyone nowadays. That include my parents. My mother is now doing her groceries online with the help of foodpanda and pandamart app, and she just enjoyed the process from the comfort of her room.

The growth of e-commerce and the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a significant uptick in the demand for online grocery delivery services. And with it comes the emergence of a new player that is changing the landscape of grocery shopping and retail commerce as we know it: dark stores.

For some who are not yet familiar, “dark” stores are generally warehouses used to store products and items that will cater specifically to online grocery shopping. And leading this space in the Asia Pacific and the Philippines in particular, is pandamart, powered by online quick-commerce platform foodpanda.

According to foodpanda’s Director of New Verticals Karan Bhaskar, they are the pioneers of the dark store business model having been the first to introduce the concept in the Philippines. “When we first brought pandamart to the Philippines in 2020, we changed the rules of e-grocery shopping in the country. Two years later, we continue to be a leader in the industry as the biggest online grocery shopping platform with more than 40 warehouses all over the country.”

A pioneer and leader in the e-grocery space

“What separates us and makes us unique is not just that we are the first and the biggest – we also have control over the entire ecosystem. We have our own warehouses where we curate, store and pick inventory. In addition, the grocery platform is ours and we are also the ones who do the delivery.”

“We are committed to bringing much loved grocery products closer to our Filipino consumers and solidify our position as the biggest grocery delivery service in the country. That’s why aside from major cities in the Metro, we have also expanded the areas where our warehouses are located to include, Baguio in Luzon as well as Cebu and Davao in VisMin.”

Karan also shared that having access throughout the end-to-end ecosystem has allowed them to deliver quickly and efficiently. “In pandamart, what the customers see on the app is the actual inventory because we have a real-time overview of the stock-keeping units (SKU’s)  in our warehouses.”

How does it work

Offering a one-stop shop for all food and essential needs, pandamart continues to dominate the grocery delivery scene with over 5,000+ daily essentials such as groceries, fresh produce, household items, beauty products, and more where you can have everything delivered in less than an hour after ordering.

Available in the foodpanda app under the “pandamart” tab, online shoppers can browse for items and products.  Afterwards, a designated person or what they call as “pickers” will get the items you selected. The order will then be received by your assigned Ka-Panda rider which will be delivered to your doorstep in as fast as 25 minutes.

Karan also noted some interesting consumer buying behavior that they have noticed. “Despite quick commerce being seen as mainly to fulfill consumers’ impulse needs like snacks, it’s interesting to see that there are orders like the ones you usually buy in physical retail stores such as fruits, vegetables, meat and baby/child and pantry essentials, among others .”

Supporting and empowering businesses

foodpanda’s Director of New Verticals also shared that pandamart currently houses hundreds of brands ranging from big names in the industry to small and medium enterprises. Some of their partners include leading brands from Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, and Universal Robina Corporation (URC). On the other hand, pandamart has also tapped into Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“Some of the MSMEs that we have partnered with offer the not-so typical grocery items that you would get from an e-grocery platform. Those shops include Blooms Artisan where you can get beautifully curated dried flowers and Best Fresh for fresh fruits and vegetables,“ Karan says.

“Being able to house both big-time companies and MSMEs in the app allows us to provide a variety of choices that would fit whatever it is our shoppers are looking for. In the end, it is ultimately the Filipino shopper who should win with a choice that is tailor fit for their preference.”

“We have also seen how assisting MSMEs can help them gain more exposure in our app so one of our goals moving forward is to partner with local jewels in the months ahead,” he added.

Looking ahead

As the demand for safe and convenient access to groceries grew, they have also seen an increase in the usage of pandamart especially during the heightened pandemic restrictions. “We now get 5x as many customers compared to when we started back in October of 2020. What’s also noteworthy is that even with the easing of restrictions, consumers continue to believe in the benefits of groceries being delivered in the safety and convenience of their homes.”

Seeing as how the industry could still grow in the future, foodpanda is looking at expanding to include more warehouses in other areas and locations across the country as well as onboard more partners, especially MSMEs.

“We are seeing more and more consumers switching to online means for their grocery shopping. So yes, we would continue to work towards improving our offering in the efforts to make this a sustainable and rewarding experience for our consumers in the coming months. ”
