BRIA Homes gives back through ‘Share the BRIA Love’ event for ALAY PAG-ASA Christian Foundation, Inc.
Sparked by its vision of providing a home for ordinary Filipinos, nothing has stood in the way of success for BRIA Homes, now considered the fastest-growing mass housing developer in the country. Thus, with a strong sense of gratitude, BRIA spread its blessings by joining ALAY PAG-ASA Christian Foundation, Inc., a non-government organization that helps indigent children, the youth, and their families, in a feeding program held last December 21.
In an effort aptly termed “Share the BRIA Love,” officials and employees of BRIA Homes held a donation drive prior to the event, collecting rice, vitamin C, canned goods, kitchen utensils and equipment, milk and sugar, condiments such as vinegar, soy sauce, fish sauce, cooking oil and salt, and cleaning products and materials such as mops, soaps, and detergent powder—the identified needs of ALAY PAG-ASA.
During the event, Ms. Maris Masilungan and Ms. Melly Basilio received the goods in behalf of ALAY PAG-ASA, which started as a shelter for street children and has since embraced more individuals and families that need support and compassion.
“Share the BRIA Love” is just one of the many efforts of BRIA Homes to help the Filipino people. After all, its winning formula, Affordability (Mura) + Quality (Dekalidad) = a Beautiful BRIA Home for Every Filipino, was formulated in line with the company’s goal: to help every Filipino have a home of their own.Through this formula, ordinary Filipinos can now purchase a BRIA unit for very affordable monthly amortizations, and through flexible payment schemes, such as bank-financing and Pag-IBIG Funding.
BRIA Homes likewise takes pride in building sustainable, secure, and wholesome communities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, providing recreational facilities for, and accommodating the needs of, Filipino individuals and families.
Accessibility is also a key factor in all BRIA communities, which are located near schools, hospitals, churches, commercial establishments, and major roads and highways.
Finally, the mass housing developer recognizes the varying and growing needs of different Filipino individuals and families, thus offering residential units in a variety of sizes and styles.
Because BRIA’s ultimate goal is to help Filipino individuals and families, it will continue to ensure that its every step is geared towards the betterment of Filipino lives.
BRIA Homes is a subsidiary of GOLDEN BRIA Holdings, Inc., considered the third largest real estate company in terms of market capitalization valued at more than P250B. The fastest-growing mass housing developer in the Philippines, BRIA Homes is primed to bring affordable house-and-lot packages and condominium units closer to ordinary Filipino families. This is the goal that drives every single employee in the company, for which the ultimate fulfillment is seeing a client happily moving into Bria’s homes.

BDO waives remittance fees on donations to Taal eruption victims
To make it easier for overseas Filipinos to provide financial assistance to thousands of victims of the Mt. Taal eruption, BDO Unibank, Inc. has waived its remittance fees on cash donations that will be sent through the different BDO Remit offices abroad.
BDO has extensive remittance coverage across the globe, with overseas remittance offices and partners across Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Cash donations sent through BDO Remit offices will then be coursed through different foundations namely BDO Foundation, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc., GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc., and Philippine Red Cross. In turn, these foundations will facilitate the purchase and distribution of relief goods in evacuation centers that temporarily house the Taal victims.
The remittance free campaign on cash donations to Taal victims runs from January 14 to March 31, 2020.
"We know overseas Filipinos, by the very nature of every Filipino, would love to help their kababayans in the Philippines who were most affected by the Mt. Taal eruption through cash donations. BDO is serving as bridge to this by waiving regular remittance fees on donations sent through BDO remit offices. It's the Bank's way of making sure all donations, every centavo, are spent to buy relief goods. In times like this, you just want to help any which way you can," said Genie Gloria, senior vice president and head of remittance of BDO.
Aside from the different BDO Remit offices, the Bank's global remit partners are also receiving cash donations for the benefit of the Taal eruption victims, including Remitly, Small World, WorldRemit, Azimo, UAE Exchange Centre, and Xpress Money. Regular remittance charges apply.
Meanwhile, for the complete list of BDO Remit offices, interested parties can visit the BDO link at https://www.bdo.com.ph/personal/remittance-services/bdo-remit-international-network/international-offices. Overseas Filipinos can also visit BDO Kabayan’s Facebook page to know more about this campaign.
Siya Nga! offers the readers a selection of short reflections by Fr. Villarin
"Siya Nga" is a Filipino expression of wonder and, thus of openness to possibilities. It is in other words, am expression of epiphany and eureka! And since this expressive phrase literally means "its Him". Fr. Villarin and I thought the phrase will "work wonder" as a title for this volume of Christian reflections."
David Jonathan Bayot
Sya Nga! Reflections with Art book was launched last January 28 attended by it author Fr. Jose Ramon "Jett" Villarin and editor David Jonathan Bayot and artists/friends from Ateneo de Manila University held at DLSU , Manila.
Collegiate basketball’s legendary rivals came together for the launch of a book of reflections on 52 terms in the Christian faith last January 28 at the De La Salle University in Manila.
Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University temporarily put aside their athletic differences to celebrate the launch of Siya Nga! Reflections with Art, a new book penned by Fr. Jose Ramon “Jett” Villarin, S.J., President of Ateneo, edited by David Jonathan Bayot, and published by the De La Salle University Publishing House.
Each of the 300-word reflection aims to shed a light on the terms that both the author and the editor deemed significant in the life and living of those who share the Christian faith.
Fr. Jett Villarin, S.J. (Center), President of the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) receives the first copy of Siya Nga! Reflections with Art from Br. Raymundo Suplido, F.S.C. (Right), President of the De La Salle University (DLSU) at the launch of the said book at the Henry Sy, Sr. Hall of the DLSU in Manila, last January 28. Joining them in the photo are (from L to R) Dr. David Jonathan Bayot, Executive Publisher of the DLSU Publishing House and Br. Bernie Oca, Chancellor of the DLSU.
“What we wanted to do is to make these familiar words unfamiliar once again,” Fr. Jett Villarin said. “The book aims to look at these words in a different way, in a different manner so that we may show that the newness of God will never grow old, and the bigness of His love will never grow small.”
Siya Nga! Reflections with Art contains 52 reflections on terms like Incarnation, Trinity, Word, Freedom, and Christmas. Each reflection is elucidated by images of artworks created by a broad range of Filipino artists including, Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, Benedicto Cabrera, Arturo Luz, Elmer Borlongan, to name a few.
“I envision the book to be one that contains images of artwork by a broad range of Filipino artists: from the canonical ones including the National Artists to the younger voices in the Philippine art scene. In so doing, the book seeks to foreground the artistic representations of the Filipinos and the range of the representations,” the book’s editor, David Jonathan Bayot said.
The launch of the book culminated in St. La Salle Hall being lit in Blue and Green—the school colors of Ateneo and La Salle, respectively—to celebrate the partnership between the two universities and to mark the 60th birthday of Fr. Villarin as well.

This holiday season, FWD Philippines gives you the confidence so you “KanDuu” all the things you want to do, now. Imagine all the things you can do when you’re confident and secured enough to accomplish them.
1. Jump off a plane and freefall, the wind on your face,
your mind wide open.
2. Open your first solo exhibit or publish your first book.
3. Train, join, and finish a local triathlon or a marathon.
4. Nibble on freshly baked French macaroons you
made yourself in a baking class in Paris.
5. Trek through the magnificent forests and high alpine
meadows of Nepal, solo!
6. Quit your desk job to go freelance, full-time.
7. Explore the dive bars and architectural relics
of Shinjuku’s Golden Gai.
8. Turn your little passion project into an online startup.
9. Live in a far-flung community to film your
first documentary.
10. Go wreck diving in the Coron.
They say you can do anything you set your mind to. And setting goals for yourself seems so fairly simple. You think it. You write it down. You affirm it, And you do it. But it’s not always as easy as that, is it? Whether new to adulting or “adulting for a while now”, people have responsibilities—bills to pay, work to deliver, a family to take care of, a future to secure—that often stop them from doing all the things they are passionate about. But who ever said you can’t have it all?
When you want something so much, you have to be willing to do what it takes to make it happen including, and most importantly, financial planning. Saving up enough funds for a dream trip or to start a passion project is one thing. Securing yourself and those you love so you can go for it without a single worry is another.
Giving Filipinos the confidence to live life to the fullest, FWD Life Philippines (FWD PH), part of pan-Asian insurer FWD Group, recently launched KanDuu, a set of insurance products that covers you from death, critical illness, or accidents so you "Can Do" and pursue all the things you love.
Go ahead and do it!
