From L-R: Event host Vince Velasco, Jollibee Brand Engagement Officer Celina Tan, Jollibee AVP for Brand PR, Communications and Digital Arline Adeva, Pia Wurtzbach, Jollibee Marketing Director for Core Products Mari Aldecoa, and Jollibee Brand Manager for Core Product Pamie Cruz.

What’s better than one Pia Wurtzbach? How about two Pia Wurtzbachs, announcing to the world—or the universe, rather—the much-awaited return of a Jollibee favorite, the crispy and creamy two-na sarap Jollibee Tuna Pie, now in Original and Spicy variants?
No less than the 2015 Miss Universe herself, looking confidently beautiful as ever, is the latest addition to the star-studded Jollibee family of ambassadors.
In the brand-new commercial, two versions of Wurtzbach represent the two-na variants of the Tuna Pie. This reflects how Wurtzbach is in real life, a person who is dynamic and adaptable—when she’s with friends and loved ones, she could simply be her amazing self like the Original variant; or when the event calls for it, she could also be fierce and fiery like the exciting kick of the Spicy variant.

“We believe Pia Wurtzbach is the perfect choice to be the face of our two-na variants for the Jollibee Tuna Pie, because of how dynamic she can be,” says Mari Aldecoa, Jollibee Marketing Director for Core Products.  “She can be as effortlessly elegant or as fiery and adventurous as she wants, and we absolutely love that. We’re excited for all the memories we can make with Pia now that she’s part of the Jollibee family.”
What’s even better is that the new Spicy variant was an instant hit with Wurtzbach. “I love the new Spicy Tuna Pie! It’s just the right amount of kick,” she says. “Don’t worry about it being too hot! If you love the Original variant, wait ‘til you try this one!”

Huawei Film Awards Partners with Filipino Film Directors

Empowering Aspiring Filmmakers by Bringing Smartphone Photography and Videography to the Next Level

February 4, 2020 was a day filled with creativity and passion as Huawei held the Huawei Film Awards, a grand showcase of the gift and talent of Filipinos. Alongside several videos aired that day, like the short films from Pepe Diokno and Sid Maderazo, both famous directors in the Philippines, and the music video of singer-songwriter Reese Lansangan, was the official launch of Huawei’s CSR documentary by filmmaker and humanitarian, Lyka Gonzalez.
The Mate 30 Momentum Continues On
As part of the steady movement prompted by last year’s success of the Huawei Mate 30 Series in the Philippines, the Huawei Film Awards is an Asia Pacific festival dedicated to celebrating work shot using any Huawei mobile phone, with the goal of uncovering and supporting the talents of tomorrow. Through the HFA and Huawei’s groundbreaking smartphones, filmmakers are empowered to expand their scope and freedom to create breathtaking films.

As a global tech brand known for its innovative approaches, Huawei carries on to develop ways for its consumers to unleash their creative potential. Through the Mate 30 Series, Huawei continues to enable its users across the globe to break free from traditional practices and explore brand new ways of art and expression.
Films Seen Through the Huawei Mate 30 Pro Lens
Distinguished names in the industry graced the audience with their beautiful and heart warming films. Producing creative visions into tangible works of art was possible using Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro 40MP Cine Camera which supports a variety of shooting modes. As effective the Mate 30 Pro is as a tool, the match of talent and genius of Pepe Diokno, Sid Maderazo, Reese Lansangan and Lyka Gonzalez is immeasurable.

Renowned director, Pepe Diokno, expressed his admiration with the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro as it was the main device he used when he shot his short film titled Things. “We shot the whole film from morning until night and the battery lasted the whole day. We were shocked that we didn’t have to charge while shooting! Every single frame was shot using the Mate 30 Pro and we didn’t add anything else and the results were just amazing!”, said Diokno.

Popular TV Commercial Director, Sid Maderazo, shared his perspective on evolution of film making saying, “The high end cameras obviously have a lot of advantages with big lenses, but I think we’re going on the right direction. Witnessing and using the phone for me opens a lot of possibilities and seeing the films by Lyka and Pepe, and to think that everything was shot using a gadget that can fit inside your pocket is just mind-blowing! And coming from film, that is something else.”

“The film that we produced was shot mostly on the Pro mode, that allowed us control on what shutter speed to use, aperture to use, and even the frame rate. So, that customization abilities gave us a lot of freedom and control in shooting the film that we want”, says Lyka Gonzalez when asked about which feature she liked best while filming.

The HFA was not only to celebrate the prowess of the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro but was also a way to shine light on important narratives for people to learn. Anna Oposa, Save Philippine Seas’ Executive Director, expressed how the partnership with Huawei has not only given their organization a chance to be recognized more but also the various projects under them. Full of hope for the future, Anna says, “As the Philippines is the center of biodiversity, we are also the center of adversity. That’s why the partnership with Huawei is so crucial. Huawei has always been at the forefront of developing technology and pushing what can be and what possibilities are. This is I hope the beginning of what is a deeper relationship with Huawei as we work together to reimagine possibilities”.
The HUAWEI Mate 30 Series is built with unmatched features that deliver incredibly smooth and engaging user experience. It is equipped with the HUAWEI Kirin 990, supported by long lasting battery life, seamless SuperCharge, EMUI 10, and the biggest camera upgrade, boasting the world’s first 40MP dual main camera. This powerhouse series was developed with photography and videography capabilities that is unrivaled up to this day. The Huawei Film Awards is testament to how users across the world continue to stay true to #RethinkPossibilities.
The Asia Pacific Regional Huawei Film Awards is set to happen this coming March in Thailand where several awards including APAC Best Director (Male or Female), APAC Best Actor (Male or Female), APAC Best Cinematography, and Best Film in the Country Level will be announced. Brilliant and accomplished filmmakers of this generation namely Pepe Diokno, Carlo Manatad, Martika Escobar, and JP Habac, are on the run to bagging these awards with their films entitled Things, Tisay, Living Things, So Long So Long To Everyone.
Passionate for short films and meaningful stories? Entries for the Acia Pacific Regional Huawei Film Awards will be accepted until February 25, 2020! To learn more about the HFA, you may visit this link: https://consumer.huawei.com/ph/campaign/film-awards/
Together with the Huawei Film Awards, Huawei also officially launched its CSR Gallery alongside a Mate 30 5G Series roadshow in SM Aura. Directors Pepe Diokno, Sid Maderazo and Lyka Gonzalez were all joined by Anna Oposa and Huawei Marketing, Steph Co and Kim Chua to formally open the exhibition to the public.

Meralco announces power rate decrease for February 2020

When you are a mom on a tight budget, every peso counts. And if you're like me you probably scrutinize each item in your bills, making sure that everything adds up. So imagine my surprise when I noticed that our electricity bill had gone down these past couple of months.

I did a quick research and it seems a lot of people had the great news, and this was the post the explained it.

For the second month in a row, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced a decrease in power rates for February.

The overall rate for a typical household consuming 200kWh decreased by P0.59 to P8.86 per kilowatt hour (kWh), its lowest level in two years, from last month’s P9.45 per kWh. Such a household will see a decrease of around P118 for their total electricity bill this month.
The reduction is mainly due to a lower generation charge after the implementation of new Power Supply Agreements (PSAs) starting last December 26.

The back-to-back rate decreases to start the year total to P1.00 per kWh and goes against the usual trend of February rates increasing, as seen in the previous five years.
The generation charge for February decreased to P4.51 per kWh thanks to Meralco’s prudent and strategic partnerships with power suppliers and the resulting new PSAs, such as San Miguel Energy Corporation, South Premiere Power Corporation, and AC Energy, who charge a lower generation cost. Charges from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) were also lower this month.

These lower prices from the new PSAs and the WESM—which accounted for 44% of the total supply—offset the cost of power from Meralco’s Independent Power Producers and old PSAs, which increased to P5.29 per kWh.
With these new PSAs providing lower generation costs, the public can expect consistently low power bills with energy-efficient use of appliances and devices at home, allowing for a bigger budget for other household and family needs.

They even shared some energy efficiency tips!
As we approach the summer months, Meralco encourages its customers to continue practicing energy efficiency initiatives at home to help manage their electricity consumption, such as:
- Such as unplugging appliances when not in use to avoid “phantom load”
- Using the aircon at mid-setting or at 25 degrees Celsius
- Using a power board or strip which can supply power to several appliances at once
- Maximizing natural light during daytime
- Keeping appliances well-maintained to ensure optimal performance

The rare sight of Sakura trees coming in full bloom lifts blissful spirits, signifying a unique sense of renewal and optimism. E\very year, Starbucks offers to bring that cherry blossom experience but always with its own twist.

This February, spring winds are beginning to blow cool air as Starbucks embraces the changing of the season with a cheerful menu of new favorites inspired by the sweet-smelling peach blossom.

Teeming with pastel pink hues, the new collection features the dreamy landscapes brought about by the soft and lovely textures of the Sakura. The artwork draws flowers inspired by rivers filled with falling blossoms over water, sky, and field, as well as trees in full bloom to place the sprouting cherry blossoms as the centerpiece.
