UNIQLO, shows us the joys of clothing as it presents its Spring/Summer collection for 2022

Japanese global apparel retailer, UNIQLO, shows us the joys of clothing as it presents its Spring/Summer collection for 2022. The collection provides fresh, comfortable, functional, and stylish pieces perfect for the season, whether one is in the city, nature, at home, or the seaside.

THE JOYS OF CLOTHING

For this season, UNIQLO focuses on the simple joys that come to life when people and clothes find each other. In its latest lineup, there’s a blazer or dress that captures modern life in the city, a relaxing and roomy pair of shorts for that trip to the great outdoors, and breezy linens and madras shirts in lively colors that can be worn at the beach. UNIQLO presents four sub-themes this season and what ties all these together is that they bring happiness and comfort to its wearer during these sunny days.

The Joys of Skyline

City-dwellers enjoy the convenience of a cosmopolitan lifestyle: a neighborhood cafe with friendly baristas, a deli selling artisanal cheeses, and restaurants serving farm-to-table food. This urban way of life needs contemporary and modern clothes that can be worn at work or off-duty.

The Joys of Landscape

Relish life off the grid, the rustling of the wind in the trees and the crunching of leaves under the shoes, with colors and textures that blend in with the scenery of nature.

The Joys of Imagination

Art and sophisticated designs stir the senses. Imaginations are supposed to wander and enter brilliant new worlds so UNIQLO found inspiration in vibrant and uplifting colors.

The Joys of Sun and Seaside

An afternoon by the beach while soaking in the sun and feeling the breeze calls for natural textures, linen fabric, and clothes that drape effortlessly over the body. These are comfortable to wear and more importantly, easy to shed off when it’s time for a dip.

UNIQLO U

This season’s collection for UNIQLO U aims to support the daily rhythm of all sorts of lifestyles. Artistic director Christophe Lemaire and the design team in Paris produced relaxed, loose-fitting, and clean silhouettes for the ultimate in comfort.

This is also reflected in the palette, featuring earth tones in brown, khaki, and olive. Warm, neutral colors, such as faded tones of orange and green, and military blue also make an appearance. A kids’ collection will be offered again this season.

UT

For this season, UNIQLO’s exciting range of t-shirts inspired by art, music, movies, manga, and other elements of culture, UT promises a diverse range of interests, including film, art, and photography.

A highlight this season is a line of monochromatic Mickey Mouse art by Joshua Vides. The artist is known for his immersive installations and products that embody the essence of pop art. Next is the collection in collaboration with Magnum Photos, a cooperative that has visually documented most of the world's major events and personalities since the 1930s. The collection includes iconic photographs shot by Alec Soth, Eli Reed, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Gueorgui Pinkhassov, Elliott Erwitt, and Martin Parr.

These are accompanied by a collection that features Keith Haring’s debut exhibition at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery in New York City in 1982. Joining Haring are collections showcasing the art of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

COLLABORATIONS

Apart from the sub-themes, UNIQLO is offering collaborations that reflect different aesthetics, but are all grounded by joy:

Hana Tajima

Hana Tajima returns to create UNIQLO’s first collection dedicated to dresses. This season, the New York-based fashion designer created garments that are made to be lived in, with understated yet iconic styles.

The collection features deep greens and blues inspired by nature and flower patterns found in Tajima’s garden. These patterns can also be found on hand-drawn scarves.

Inès de la Fressange

Inès De la Fressange turns to the colorful Moroccan city of Marrakesh in creating this season’s collection. The designer crafted high-quality and elegant yet casual items that liberally use cotton, linen, and silk.

The womenswear lineup is infused with menswear elements in natural colors and warm accents in reds, oranges, and pinks. The collection stays true to de la Fressange’s DNA of effortless chic that is truly French, truly Inès.

JW Anderson

Jonathan Anderson, who is never far from the sea, was inspired by sailing and the culture of seaside towns and ports when developing this collection. The sapphire blues of the sea, the soft browns of seashores, and the calming beiges of chalk cliffs are combined with red, green, and blue elements, reminiscent of maritime signal flags.

The nautical narrative is expressed through rope details, performance fabrics, patchwork, and asymmetrical elements.

UNIQLO’s 2022 Spring/Summer collection will be available starting February in all stores nationwide.

Does size really matter?

It’s a question that has long intrigued the minds of many. And in many everyday situations, size certainly does matter. By going big, there’s more to be enjoyed, loads more to treat yourself to, and, simply put: You get more out of the things you buy and get your money’s worth.

When it comes to bigger and better, Pantene changes the game with their 3-Minute Miracle Conditioner. Compared to the previous 9mL sachet, the sachet comes in bigger at 13mL but keeps the same salon-inspired ingredients and maintains the affordable price of P6* giving everyone who uses it Salontastic and lagkit-free hair.

Bigger and better treatment that comes in not one, not two, but three forms

Different hair types come with different hair care needs and routines. With Pantene’s 3-Minute Miracle Conditioner, those looking to give their hair some much needed TLC have got all the choices they will ever need. And beyond being the clear bigger and better choice, Pantene brings a 3-Minute Miracle in three different ways:

Filled with Pro-Vitamin B5 and keratin strengtheners that provide your hair with essential nutrients, you can be well on your way to swapping frizziness for smooth, lagkit-free, and fragrant hair that lasts all day.

Hair is also a crucial form of self-expression, with many using various styles to change its appearance – but while fun and freeing, this can also lead to dry hair in the long run. To keep you and your hair free from further damage, Pantene also offers its Collagen Repair 3-Minute Miracle Conditioner, equipped with Pro-Vitamin B5 formula and collagen that helps protect your hair follicles and strengthens your hair in the process.

Lastly, those whose hair tends to experience breakage can opt for Pantene’s Biotin Strength 3-Minute Miracle Conditioner. Similar to the previous variations, Biotin Strength also comes with Pro-Vitamin B5 formula while accompanied by Biotin or Vitamin B7, giving your hair the ample nutrients it needs to toughen it up. Besides long-lasting hair strength, it is also able to restore hair shine, perfect in giving you the confidence to go about your day.

Achieve your dream hair with extra flair today with Pantene, with each sachet priced at only P6*. No compromising and no sacrificing of quality – just smooth and Salontastic hair, with no strings attached.  Available in Keratin Smooth, Collagen Repair, and Biotin Strength, Pantene is clearly your best bet for all your hair needs – the bigger and better choice.

Why Ilocos has a special place in Loren Legarda's heart

Senatorial candidate and Antique representative Loren Legarda vowed to continue promoting the Ilocos region if she returns to the Senate. The three-time senator has shown her love for Ilocos through the various projects she has spearheaded in her years in government.

Several of the projects that Legarda championed in the region include supporting the production of cotton in Pinili, Ilocos Norte through the establishment of different weaving and cotton processing centers. She has also been a supporter of the San Jose Multipurpose Cooperative in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, and Rowilda’s Loomweaving from Vigan, Ilocos Sur which participated in the annual National Arts and Crafts Fair exhibition of the Department of Trade and Industry.

Because of her advocacy for the arts, Legarda was also able to help fund eight MSMEs and cooperatives to avail of the Assistance to Artisans under the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Aside from the arts, Legarda also focused on the Ilocos region's need for health by establishing a satellite Rural Health Unit with a birthing facility and provision of medical equipment in two hospitals — the Gen. Roque Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital in Laoag City and the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac City.

She also helped in funding various infrastructure projects such as the Vigan Airport Development Project, the establishment of the Ylokos  Province Theme Park, construction of water system facilities in public schools, and the repair of the Quirino Bridge in the municipality of Bantay.

Likewise, she allocated funds for DOLE TUPAD and Pangkabuhayan programs in both Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur which provide emergency employment and livelihood assistance to displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers. With Legarda’s help, she was also able to allocate (Technical Education And Skills Development Authority) TESDA skills training programs and scholarships for employment and entrepreneurship in Ilocos.

Aside from Ilocos, Legarda also helped the people of La Union through the Don Mariano Marcos State University by providing equipment and supplies, improving the silkworm rearing houses, fabricating weaving looms, and the repair of the weaving house of the Sapilang Weavers’ Association.

The Ilocos region is close to Legarda’s heart. Her beloved yaya Felicidad Bagayas, whom she calls ‘Nanay Fely’ is an Ilocana and raised her along with her late mother Bessie. She credits Nanay Fely for her upbringing and who she has become today.

"Ang Nanay Fely kong taga Ilocos Norte ang nag-alaga sa akin mula nang akoy ipinanganak. Ako ay inaruga at pinalaki ng isang Ilocana at nakuha ko po ang ilang pag-uugaling Ilocano,” she said.

She thanked Ilocos for the support saying:  "I am very grateful to all Ilocanos. You have been earnestly supporting me since I started as an elected official in 1998 because you very well understand and appreciate the advocacies I work for. Now that I am seeking a Senatorial comeback, I am asking again for your full support.”

“I helped my home province, Antique, reach its “golden age” with the help of my constituents. As I seek another seat at the Senate, I will ensure that this golden age—with your support—will also done and benefit all the cities and municipalities in our country, especially the Ilocos Region, which has always had a special place in my heart.”

ROIDMI offers quality high-tech consumer products like vacuum cleaners to help keep your home clean and allergen-free

Indoor air can be more polluted than outdoor air. If you live in a high-rise, smoke, dust and cooking odors can migrate from other units to yours. Other sources of indoor air pollutants are paint, cleaning chemicals, dust mites, pet dander, carpets, parasites, mold and dampness and many others. Even the furniture in your home and the gas stove you use for cooking can release gas and other debris into the air.

So, what can you do to improve the air quality in your house? Especially in a time where cleanliness matters the most.

One way is always to check the air filters of your air-conditioning units. These filters could be filled with dust and other debris from the air. When this happens, your AC units might not work properly. Second, make sure your kitchen has an exhaust fan and that it’s turned on when you’re cooking. If you don’t have an exhaust fan, open a window for proper air circulation. Avoid smoking inside the house or even outside if the doors and windows are open.

But the most important thing you can do to improve indoor air quality in your home is to increase the amount of outdoor air that goes into the house. This, however, can also result in dust coming in.

Vacuuming dust and other allergens reduces the irritants in the air that worsen asthma and other respiratory problems. But thanks to ROIDMI, home-cleaning has been revolutionized more than ever because of the Cordless Vacuum Cleaner’s built-in ZiWei Sterilization System.

ROIDMI, the leader of the cordless vacuum cleaner industry in China, offers quality high-tech consumer products like vacuum cleaners to help keep your home clean and allergen-free. The good news is that ROIDMI is now in the Philippines!

The ROIDMI X30 VX has two modes for easier cleaning, 200 rpm high-speed wiping, 150W power so deep-seated dirt can be easily removed, three modes to control water seepage, 80 minutes runtime and magnetic charging, ROIDMI X30 VX has two main floor brushes, a wiping cleaner head and a soft roller cleaner head, which allow you to suction and wipe at the same time. This is perfect for homes with many pets. The X30 VX can be used for wet wiping, dry mopping and waxing. Both cleaner heads are equipped with LED light-sensitive response lamps.

The X30 Pro Cordless Vacuum Cleaner has the new generation clean technology with an OLED smart color screen, ZiWei Sterilization System, NEX-V all-powerful brush, 70 minutes running time and 150W suction power for synchronized vacuuming, mopping and sterilizing. It has an air purifier that offers six levels of filtration and double antibacterial action. The ROIDMI X30 Pro received the iF, Red Dot and other awards for its excellent design. The screen not only displays cleaning status but also suction, electricity and calorie consumption while cleaning. The dust cup has one button for no-touch release, an electric brush for efficient removal of mites and an LED light for efficient cleaning.

The ROIDMI X20 synchronizes vacuuming and mopping, so you save time and effort. This cordless vacuum -mop combo has a 120,000rpm brushless motor, magnetic wireless charger, Air-X air-dust separation system and when fully charged, 65 minutes of battery life. The soft rolling brush is made of nano-scale hydrophobic fiber, which is waterproof and self-cleaning. The ROIDMI X20 cordless vacuum cleaner has a 270° two-way handle that allows you to comfortably grip with both hands and mop the floor a lot easier.

The ROIDMI S2 is a lightweight vacuum cleaner with a stronger suction at 130W and stronger endurance at 60 minutes when fully charged via magnetic wireless charging. The ROIDMI S2 has a redesigned fully optimized air duct structure and filtration system to make air circulation smoother and significantly enhance gas-dust separation effect. The S20 also has an automatic sensor light that illuminates dark corners and areas so you can clean more efficiently.

One of the best features of the Z1 Air is its being lightweight and portable at 1.55kg. But as they say, small things can pack a lot of power. The ROIDMI Z1 Air’s 10 separation cyclones powerful suction helps reduce filter blocking and maintain strong suction power. The 100,000 RPM digital brushless motor is also more powerful. It has a 60-minute runtime with only one charge. Your home will also be cleaner with the 2+2 multiple air filtration system.

The ROIDMI X30 VX, X30 Pro, X20, and S2 cordless vacuum have a multi-layer air filtration system that traps previously vacuumed dust and prevents it from being released back into the air. These also comes with wall-mounted docks which can be used for charging and storage purposes. Each ROIDMI vacuum cleaner also includes supporting accessories such as the crevice tool, wide nozzle, extension hose, mattress brush among other tools to meet most home cleaning needs.

*The supporting accessories may vary depending on the product.

The ROIDMI X30 VX, X30 Pro, X20, and S2 cordless vacuum cleaners have LED display screens accessible and supported through the ROIDMI smart app connection to your mobile phone via Bluetooth.  The mobile app enables users to check the main unit power, cleaning time, dust full and filter replacement reminders through the app for the best cleaning experience.

Update your cleaning routine for better indoor air quality with ROIDMI cordless vacuum cleaners.

USAID and Nestlé Philippines committed to share practical tips about improving local solid waste management

To mark the Philippines’ Zero Waste Month in January, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)—through its Clean Cities, Blue Ocean (CCBO) program—and Nestlé Philippines, Inc. partnered to help local government units (LGUs) and community leaders better understand the link between climate change and solid waste management.

Tetra Tech’s Rene Acosta, CCBO Asia Regional Director, and Nestlé Philippines Senior Vice President Arlene Bantoto signed the memorandum of understanding on January 31.

Together, USAID and Nestlé Philippines committed to share practical tips about improving local solid waste management, increase communities’ access to solid waste management education, and implement Nestlé Philippines’ Climate Change and Solid Waste Management Education Program.

(Right) Rene Acosta, Clean Cities, Blue Ocean Program Asia Regional Director, and Arlene Bantoto, Nestlé Philippines Senior Vice President and Head of Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability, sign the memorandum of understanding to help improve local solid waste management in the country.

“Combatting ocean plastics pollution is a challenge that requires strong partnerships,” said USAID Philippines Mission Director Ryan Washburn.  “USAID is pleased to partner with Nestlé Philippines in supporting local governments to reduce waste-linked contributions to ocean plastics and the climate crisis.”

The Philippines generates an estimated 2.7 million tons of plastic waste annually, of which 20 percent is estimated to end up in the ocean.  While the country has legislation on solid waste management, LGUs sometimes struggle to implement and enforce regulations.

By extending Nestlé Philippines’ Climate Change and Solid Waste Management Education Program to USAID CCBO engagement sites in Metro Manila and Iloilo, USAID and Nestlé Philippines will support local government efforts to enhance their solid waste management systems and develop resilience to climate change.

“As a food and beverage manufacturer with a major presence in the country, we are called upon to be at the forefront in helping tackle the urgent issues of climate change and plastic waste.  As Nestlé Philippines sustains plastic neutrality, and other pioneering initiatives for the environment, it is important for us to help capacitate people at the grassroots level,” said Nestlé Philippines Chairman and CEO Kais Marzouki.  “We welcome this partnership with USAID Philippines and look forward to working with other partners as we accelerate our journey toward a waste-free future.”

USAID launched CCBO in August 2019 as its flagship program to respond to the ocean plastics pollution crisis.  The five-year (2019-2024), $48-million (Php2.5-billion) program works at the global level and in specific countries like the Philippines to address ocean plastics directly at their source.

By strengthening waste management systems and building circular economies city by city, the program builds sustainable solutions that reduce ocean plastics while empowering vulnerable populations and mitigating pollution that affects human health and the climate.

Durex calls everyone to come together to stay protected

With over two years in lockdown brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, there is another pandemic that the public needs to be concerned about. UNAIDS recently reported new public research which revealed the existence of a more transmissible and damaging variant of HIV. While this newly identified variant does not represent a major public health threat, it underscores the urgency of speeding up efforts to halt the HIV pandemic which continues to take a life every minute*.

As part of its advocacy to halt the spread of HIV, Durex calls everyone to come together to stay protected. Remaining as steadfast and driven as ever this 2022—despite the challenges brought by the pandemic—Durex pursues its advocacy of raising awareness on the importance of condom use as means to help stop the HIV pandemic and the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the country.

Data from the Department of Health (DOH) shows that HIV cases in the Philippines are rising rapidly and that 30% of new HIV cases are those between 15 and 24 years old**. Furthermore, the DOH says HIV cases increased mainly because in 2020, there was a 61% decline in HIV testing due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that only 35% of Filipinos use condoms***

With the alert level now downgraded to level 2 in Metro Manila and many parts of the country, Durex is anticipating that more people will be very eager to go out and reconnect with their partners. These couples are those who hardly saw each other or those who saw each other too much during the lockdowns- leading them to experience low libido or loss of interest in sexual activities. And as Durex champions everyone’s right to pleasurable and safe sex, they say reigniting romance must be done responsibly.

As the world’s number one condom brand and global experts with over 90 years of experience in the sexual well-being industry, Durex stands firm in its advocacy of helping stop the global HIV pandemic. Their mission is to educate and promote awareness on the benefits of safe sex to curb the spread of HIV, AIDs, and other sexually transmitted infections.

Durex continues to dispel the notion that wearing a condom makes sex less pleasurable- thus making non-users more at risk to HIV and STI. In fact, Durex’ wide assortment of condoms offer different benefits to help provide various sexual sensations while at the same time provide the quality standard of protection.

Since 1929, Durex has been making condoms with the finest raw materials. From ribs and dots, extra sensitive, extra thin, to made-to-make-it-last and more shapes, sizes and sensations, Durex condoms make sex feel good. Durex also offers lubes that are designed to bring smoothness and extra stimulation to sexual experiences.

Despite COVID-19, and the existence of a more transmissible variant of HIV, Durex believes couples should still be able to live life to the fullest and enjoy its perks- like enjoying pleasurable and safe sex. And one way to do this is to reignite romance with passion while staying protected- and to #ComeTogether with Durex.

While the country has officially gone past the flu season—which usually takes place in the chilliest months of the year—one can never be too complacent. With summer fast approaching, we still have to watch out for symptoms associated with having the flu: sniffles, sneezes, headaches, and fevers, plus a few body aches here and there. And because the flu shares many symptoms with COVID-19, catching the former also means that the average Pinoy will have a little less peace of mind.

In short, flu symptoms aren’t just more common these days—they’re also a lot heavier to deal with.

That’s why it’s generally a good idea to get tested for COVID-19 in case one experiences flu symptoms. In the event that it’s confirmed to be COVID-19, one can start practicing the necessary isolation and treatment protocols.

On the other hand, if that cough turns out to be a symptom of the flu, it isn’t enough to stop at the negative COVID-19 results. Flu symptoms still need to be treated ASAP, as they may lead to more serious health complications.

When a cold or flu creates a blockage in the sinuses, for example, this can trap bacteria and viruses inside through the mucus. A bad enough infection can lead to sinusitis, which in turn causes severe headaches, fever, facial pain.

The fluid buildup from the flu can also cause bacteria or viruses to infect the space behind the eardrums, leading to a painful ear infection. In people with asthma, flu symptoms can trigger asthmatic attacks, or cause difficulty breathing among people without asthma.

Flu symptoms could also make it more difficult to sleep. Studies have found that a lack of sleep can have a negative effect on the immune system, making someone more vulnerable to different illnesses.

Given how important it is to immediately treat flu symptoms, medication for these symptoms is a must- have during the country’s flu season. For many Filipinos, the ideal fix is to have a multi-benefit solution like Phenylephrine HCl Chlorphenamine Maleate Paracetamol (BIOFLU) at home.

Unlike other medications that address only one or two flu symptoms, Phenylephrine HCl Chlorphenamine Maleate Paracetamol (BIOFLU) is specially formulated to provide relief for all common flu symptoms. It helps relieve fever, colds, clogged noses, sneezing, headaches, body aches, joint pain, chills, sore throat, and cough due to post-nasal drip. It can also help reduce itching in the eyes and treat a runny nose.

Its formula was also created to treat the symptoms of other ailments like allergic rhinitis and sinusitis, making it a valuable multi-purpose medication for every household. At just PHP7.50 SRP per tablet, it’s also one of the most sulit solutions available to Pinoys. The medication provides relief for multiple illnesses and prevents complications from their symptoms at a cost cheaper than a cup of coffee.

And because a lot of the symptoms that it treats are also common side effects from COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, the medication has also proven to be helpful for people who need to get back to work soon after getting their shots.

With flu season in full swing and a pandemic still hitting Pinoys where it hurts, it’s always good to keep medication handy that can help people bounce back more easily from the symptoms. When it’s a multi- benefit solution, it’s more than just helpful—it’s sulit.
