Home Credit Philippines celebrates a major milestone by acknowledging its 10-millionth customer

To celebrate Isang Dekadang Saya of being the Filipinos’ financial ally, Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the country’s leading consumer finance companyhas recently recognized its ten-millionth customer, France Janina “Ica” Abion, at a grand event held in SM Novaliches.

Ica, a 27-year-old mom and bank teller started her Home Credit journey in August this year. Recounting her experience, she revealed that at the time of purchase, she and her partner were looking for a smartphone that could meet her everyday work hustle at the Riverbanks Mall in Marikina City.

However, when she finally found the perfect device, her available cash fell short of the overall price—PHP 14,000. Fortunately, a Home Credit sales associate approached them and introduced a convenient and affordable paymentoption

“The sales associate who assisted us was not only friendly but also informative. They thoroughly explained the terms and conditions of Home Credit, including the minimal requirements, one-minute approval process, different installment options, payment procedures, and more. This was when I became convinced to choose Home Credit as my preferred payment method for my smartphone,” she continued.

During the transaction, Ica shared that she only paid a down payment of PhP4,000 and opted for an 18-month installment plan. This allowed her to secure the smartphone she needed while also effectively managing her monthly expenses as she only has to pay PHP800 per month.

Unexpected Blessing

Ica might already be satisfied with her new phone, but little did she know that an unexpected blessing was about to grace her life just a few weeks after her purchase.

Nearly a month after buying my new phone, Home Credit reached out to me while I was at work. Seeing an unfamiliar number on my cellphone screen, I hesitated in answering their calls.

However, after a few more tries to reach mea text message and an email letting me know that I was the ten millionth customer of Home Credit were sent to me,” she added.

Fortunately, Home Credit was able to finally get in touch with her, and they assured her that it was indeed real. The company formally honored Ica via a grand event last Sept 24 where she was awarded a grand total of PHP100,000; anda waived payment for her smartphone.

Overwhelmed with emotion, she expressed, “I really could not believe that am Home Credit’s ten-millionth customer. With a one-year-old baby boy and another child on the way, this is a great help for me and my partner. We are deeply thankful to Home Credit, she concluded.

A decade-worth of innovative financial services

With this 10-millionth-customer achievement, Sheila Paul, Chief Marketing Officer of HCPHtook a moment to reflect on the company’s incredible journey during the event.

“Since Home Credit’s inception in the country in 2013, we have remained committed to delivering innovative financial services—be it product installments, cash loans, virtual credit, and moreto allow Filipinos to live the life they want.Home Credit has also continually enhanced its services to ensure an exceptional customer experience. Today, Filipinos can enjoy the convenience of one-minute approvals with just a single valid ID at over 15,000 outlets to realize their needs, such as gadgets, appliances, furniture, and many more,” Paul shared.

Paul also expressed her gratitude to the more than 10 million customers who trusted Home Credit over the years.

“We are grateful to every Filipino who placed their trust in us, allowing us to improve the lives of many. Rest assured that we will continue to innovate our services to help us elevate the quality of life of the Filipinos,” she added.

An entertaining night of celebration

As a gesture of appreciation to its customers, the grand event was filled with entertaining segments led by Valeen Montenegro, a celebrated actress and comedian who served as one of the event’s hosts. The occasion was made more exciting by the performances of renowned singers Darren Espanto and Moira Dela Torre.

“I am honored to be a part of the Home Credit family as we celebrate this remarkable milestone. As a member of this family for some time now, it is heartwarming to witness its continuous growth. May Home Credit keep on empowering the lives of every Filipino financially, helping them achieve their needs,” Montenegro conveyed.

PHusion Exhibit 2023: Where Tradition Meets Pop Culture in a Vibrant Fusion of Interior Design

Experience the Fusion of Filipino Culture, History, and Pop Culture with Global Influences at PSID's 'PHusion' Interior Design Exhibit, taking place from October 1 to 31 at the Greenfield Tower in Mandaluyong City.

The Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) presents “PHusion,” an interior design exhibit exploring the blending of Filipino cultural, historical and pop culture references with global cultures, slated on October 1 to 31, at the Greenfield Tower, Greenfield District in Mandaluyong City.

Composed of 12 booths that will showcase varied interpretations of the theme, “Phusion” will show this year’s PSID graduating batch taking on the challenge of creating unique living spaces that weave interiors and different cultures and influences through stories, emotions, and beliefs. Co-presented by Greenfield District, “PHusion” will show how celebrating cultural diversity can result in new yet relevant interior designs. Here is a sneak peek!

Walk like an Egyptian. This living room knits together the grandeur and functionality of Filipino and Egyptian designs. Especially interesting is a decorative art piece made with wood panels, perforated hieroglyphics and baybayin writings which translate to "Ikaw ang aking Tahanan" and "Mahal kita, magpakailanman," respectively.

PH x Egypt booth “Ikaw at Ako” by Janiz Karen Adlawan, Katrin Miriel Araja, Katrina Marie Balkin, Nicole Mercado, Joana Mannel Lipana

Warm and earthy like South Africa. The Bahay Ubuntu dining space expertly blends Filipino with South African rich histories and cultural subtleties. Local treasures such as tribal masks, and woven and handcrafted accessories contribute to the atmosphere's storytelling.

PH x South Africa booth “Bahay Ubuntu” by Maria Cheska Luisa Mendoza, Ayessa Chloe Carpio, Sofia Raphaelle Pascual, Sophia Chelsea Yling

Hollywood calling. An open-concept kitchen space that melds both strong colors and gold accents in the American Hollywood Regency style and Filipino rich traditional heritage can be nothing but interesting.

PH x America booth “Fillenium” by Ma. Stella Bagro, Romeo Gabriel Conge, Rovina Angelica Manuel, Rosana Bandola

French opulence. L’amour du monde entier (Love from Around the World), is an opulent living room that incorporates local Filipino materials, like wood, capiz, and solihiya, with French design using glass, mirrors, and other reflective surfaces.

PH x France booth “L’amour du Monde Entier” by Alma Marie Lagman, Kristin Dominique Ramos, Bettina Sophia Ejercito, Mary Rose Glovelle Palileo

Brazil, Brazil! This entertainment area named A Diversão (fun) showcases a harmonious space that features vibrant fabrics, organic and natural finishes, and tropical plants, which contrast with elements that reveal the warmth and cultural nuances of Filipino design.

PH x Brazil booth “A Diversão” by Chey De Guzman, Irish Monique Cube, Reichel Alessandra Baytan

Italian Booth. Aptly named Semantika, the bathroom shows that even though Filipino and Italian cultures' identities are unique, there are methods to establish common ground or understanding. Inabel fabric designs were used as a prominent design feature to represent Filipino culture and tradition. The space also features dark heavy wood trims contrasted with soft ecru ceilings and walls, reminiscent of the rustic Tuscan style—a significant movement in Italian house interior design.

PH x Italy booth “SemantiÓ„a” by Jana Loise Cruz, Jeynna Francesa Meria, Sophia Denise Ignacio

Balanced and Scandinavian. This space reflects the Scandinavian ethos of Lagom—a Swedish word that translates to just the right amount or not too much, not too little. Featuring an elliptical shape reminiscent of the delicate curves of iconic Scandinavian furniture pieces, this dining room provides an unhurried and smooth transition of visual perception. Noticeable intricate Filipino design elements such as solihiya, rattan, and slatted wooden louvers fill the space, balancing the minimalist Scandinavian design style.

PH x Scandinavia booth “Lagom” by Maria Beatriz San Luis Gutierrez, Stephen Michael Chan, Carl Lois Mico, Nicolette Lee

Fab and smashing British. This bachelor’s pad kitchen features a uniquely cut island counter with a smoked capiz ceiling—the centerpiece adding the modern flourish to the traditional English kitchen mantelpiece. Filipino and art deco elements like the Barong Tagalog and sunburst patterns are scattered as design elements to add cross-cultural fusion to the pub-inspired space.

PH x U.K. booth “A bachelor’s tavern” by Marielle Marzan, Regine Calupitan, Hannah Izabella Galanto, Ailene Cariño

Nicaraguan Relaxation. Relajarse, which translates to relax, is a bathroom that embodies the fusion of Filipino and Nicaraguan culture. The use of limewash walls and organic materials creates a link to nature, simulating the sense of being in a tropical paradise. Furthermore, the use of gold accents pays homage to Nicaragua's long history of gold production.

PH x Nicaragua booth “Relajarse” by Andrea Maureen V. Severino

Hard-working mate! Yakka, which translates to hard work from an indigenous Australian language, gives a peek at what it feels like to work within a space that feels like a landscape. Curves in the space simulate the organic and picturesque shapes of Australia's landscape, adorned with dot art-inspired paintings as a nod to the Aboriginals. Durable materials, such as burlaps and rattan, reflect the Philippines’ rich natural resources.

PH x Australia booth “Yakka” by Franchesca Eunice Co, Reina Kristina Sempio, Kharen Charmaine Urbano, Maria Katrina Challoy

Turning Japanese, Pearl of the Orients meets prosperity in this Filipino-Japanese fusion bedroom, a combination of the Japanese number 8 which symbolizes “growth” merged with the Philippines' wood, stone, capiz, bamboo, and rocks.

PH x Japan booth “Pitokaja” by Joan Dominique Vinco, Kaila Patricia Caido, Victor Jay Flores, Sophia Isabelle Serrano

Persian Persuasion. This bedroom features the rich and vibrant culture of Persia combined with the natural and neutral palette of Filipino materials. Indigenous Filipino materials were integrated with intricate Persian details to create a balanced and symmetrical space.

PH x Persia booth “Kanlungan” by Sheina Rose Gina, Karen Cabalquinto, Isobel Merici Dator, Erica Leona Chua

PHusion proudly shares this celebration of cultures and ingenuity with Boysen, Decoliving, Genteel Home, Gorenje, HMT, Jed Yabut, Keystone, La Europa Ceramica, Lucendi, MainLine, RGC Fabrics, Spectrum, Vertiflute, and VLF Wood Veneers.

The Diamond Star Returns: Welcoming Her to Her Newest Family

Bona Vita was born from a familial love for healthy coffee. The Cerezo family's shared passion has inspired them to embark on a coffee business which aims to uplift every Filipino’s health and wealth.

Pursuing a passion this big has been challenging enough from the start, but for this family, it has been the most fulfilling, rewarding, and one of the nicest things that ever happened to them.

“Imagine working with your loved ones whom you trust and care [for] the most.” Bona Vita Chief Executive Officer Jethro Cerezo said. “Family businesses can be difficult, but our bond became stronger by resolving family conflicts through prayer and faith in God,” Cerezo added.

After a successful launch in 2016, things took an unexpected yet exciting turn when their hero mix, Bona Vita 8-in-1 Coffee–a natural food supplement drink not intended to be used as medicine, has been receiving overflowing customer testimonials claiming it has improved their health in various ways. The remarkable outcome prompted its patrons to dub the drink as “The Coffee That Makes Wonders.”

Brewing cups and bonds as strong as a Diamond

Indeed, Bona Vita continues to make wonders through its freshly-brewed partnership with renowned Filipina icon, the Diamond Star Ms. Maricel Soriano to be the brand’s newest ambassador.

“It is a privilege and honor to have [partnered] with the one and only Diamond Star, Ms. Mariel Soriano. Her elegance, simplicity and classy image makes her standout among the crowd. Therefore, she is perfect to be the new Bona Vita star,” Cerezo stated.

Her stellar reputation breads her role as the coffee’s brand ambassador in stirring brand awareness, maintaining a positive image by mirroring the brand’s core values, and representing the brand’s characteristics—classy, healthy, and quality.

Her timeless career recognitions and contributions to the Philippines’ entertainment industry have also been a relatable moment with the Cerezos that reminds them of Bona Vita’s emerging and dynamic journey.

“[This] partnership with Ms. Maricel is undoubtedly our perfect mix. Her career has proved nothing but success to us and there is no doubt that it will also be the same for Bona Vita,” Cerezo added.

The aroma of wellness

Having the Diamond Star on board is a huge milestone that shows how much Bona Vita has grown since it was established. The company has been reaching target goals that helped expand the team, provided better compensation to employees, and built great rapport with business partners.

The family plans to increase their marketing initiatives with bigger advertisement investments across different platforms to compliment their boosting online sales performance.

“After 7 years of hard work, dedication and prayer, the brand ascends up the ladder. By the grace of God, Bona Vita is now #1 in various e-commerce shopping sites in the Philippines,” said Chief Operations Officer Edgar Cerezo.

Even the Diamond Star herself is an avid consumer of Bona Vita Coffee and a supporter of the company’s mission and vision. With her own Bona Vita experience, she emphasizes the importance of prioritizing one’s health–making Bona Vita Coffee a perfect companion in achieving better health.

The love that people continue to show for Bona Vita Coffee products serves as a motivation for the Cerezo family to work harder, produce more products, and provide better services.

And in a true Bona Vita fashion, they have managed to broaden the brand’s flavors with innovative product variations. When asked to tease about Bona Vita’s plans, Jethro Cerezo answered, “A lot is in store for Bona Vita! More amazing and quality products [will be revealed] soon, which will definitely excite your taste buds and will be beneficial to your body and health.”

In 10 years, Bona Vita envisions to have a self-owned establishment within Metro Manila and open branches all over the country. The family is poised to continue making waves in the healthcare industry.
