Hada Labo, this cult favorite is beloved throughout Japan for embodying the beauty of simplicity

The new year is always a good opportunity to reevaluate one’s habits and switch up routines. For skinthusiasts, this means reviewing their skincare regimen. As beauty experts round up the hottest beauty trends for the year, there’s one that has always been part of the list: skinimalism.

Skinimalism, which means skincare minimalism, isn’t really a trend. Rather, it’s an approach, a philosophy on one’s skincare routine. The rule is simple. Instead of piling up products on your skin or stocking up on the next big holy grail, why not give your skin a much-needed breather, go back to basics, and use effective products that your skin needs? Beauty experts and other skinthusiasts have all started swearing by their skinimalism approach to skincare for their healthier glow.

When it comes to going back to basics and effective simple routines, there’s one popular Japanese skincare brand that you can rely on: Hada Labo. This cult favorite is beloved throughout Japan for embodying the beauty of simplicity. Its products are all formulated free of all unnecessary additives, colorants, fragrances, and mineral oils that burden the skin. In fact, only the finest and purest ingredients like its star ingredient hyaluronic acid are retained to ensure maximum effectiveness.

One of its bestselling products is the face lotion (selling out a bottle every five seconds in Japan!), which is considered as the first step to that coveted mochi-mochi skin, a hallmark of healthy skin for its soft, bouncy, velvety matte, healthy-looking texture. Known for nourishing the skin through deep hydration, Hada Labo offers two lines of face lotions in the Philippines.

Gokujyun Hydrating Lotion is Japan’s No. 1 face lotion that’s perfect for daily use, especially if you have dry or normal skin. And it’s now improved with five kinds of hyaluronic acid that deeply hydrate the skin, replenish optimum moisture, create a moisture-locking shield to prevent moisture loss, and enhance absorption of other skin-care ingredients. This formula also has the world’s first fermented hyaluronic acid that significantly improves how it locks in moisture deep into the skin. The line also has Gokujyun Hydrating Light Lotion that contains four types of hyaluronic acid and a light, non-greasy formula specifically created for oily or combination skin.

Skinimalism also encourages use of multi-functional products, and Shirojyun Premium Whitening Lotion fits the bill. Apart from the hydrating power of hyaluronic acid, it also offers brightening ingredients to give you that crystal bright glow, making it the perfect choice if you’re worrying about dull, tired skin. It’s infused with Alpha Arbutin, Niacinamide, and Vitamin C to brighten and even out skin tone. Alpha Arbutin can prevent skin pigmentation and dark spots. It’s a natural antioxidant and skin brightener reduces melanin formation in an effective and safer way. Niacinamide is known for helping protect skin from environmental stressors like UV rays and pollution, while Vitamin C can help exfoliate the skin to reveal a brighter complexion.

For best results, use it twice a day and apply the product the Hada Labo way—by patting it onto the skin.

Want to give skinimalism a go? Head over to The SM Store’s Beauty Section in SM North EDSA until January 18 to learn more about Hada Labo and enjoy special freebies and discounts. Hada Labo face lotions and other products are available at Watsons and Zalora, and through the official Mentholatum store on Lazada and Shopee.

Cult fave J-beauty brand Hada Labo helps you say no to dull holiday skin

Everything’s coming up merry and bright for the holidays this year with in-person gatherings and reunions with family, friends, and colleagues getting back on track. As festive as the season is, it’s also stressful and hectic.

We’re juggling more tasks and errands than we usually do, decorating our homes while finishing up end-of-the-year reports, and (finally!) catching up with friends. And all those sleepless nights and hours spent working overtime, holiday shopping and gift wrapping can show on you, especially on your skin.

All the late nights and stress can deal quite a bit of damage on your skin, and incorporating something more nourishing can help combat that. The Japanese always makes sure they have a face lotion which function as skin conditioners, softening and hydrating it, and even performing a few extras. As the key step to mochi mochi skin or skin so baby-soft, bouncy, velvety matte they look and feel like that popular Japanese dessert, face lotions are full water-pushing humectants like hyaluronic acid to plump up dehydrated skin that’s typical of the colder months.

Cult fave J-beauty brand Hada Labo helps you say no to dull holiday skin and look your best despite the stress. The brand sells out a bottle of face lotion every five seconds and offers two of its most famous product lines here in the country. Staging a comeback on the social scene is easy with these skin saviors!

Gokujyun Hydrating Lotion Rich is Hada Labo’s flagship product that’s updated with an enhanced formulation. It contains five types of hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate the skin, replenish optimum moisture, create a moisture-locking shield to prevent moisture loss, and enhance absorption of other skin-care ingredients. This formula also has the world’s first fermented hyaluronic acid significantly improves its barrier function even more. The Gokujyun line also offers the Gokujyun Hydrating Light Lotion that has the same hydrating formula as the former, just lighter for oily or combination skin.

Shirojyun Premium Whitening Lotion, on the other hand, is best for those who have dull, tired skin. Apart from Hada Labo’s signature hyaluronic acid formula, it also contains brightening ingredients to give you that crystal bright glow. It’s infused with Alpha Arbutin, Niacinamide, and Vitamin C to brighten and even out skin tone. Alpha Arbutin can prevent skin pigmentation, dark spots, and freckles. It’s a natural antioxidant and skin brightener reduces melanin formation in an effective and safer way. Niacinamide is known for helping protect skin from environmental stressors like UV rays and pollution, while Vitamin C can help exfoliate the skin to reveal a brighter complexion.

Whichever face lotion best suits your skin, make sure to apply it twice a day as after cleansing the Hada Labo way—by patting the product onto the skin to get that natural holiday glow!

Planning to carry your new mochi-mochi skincare routine into the new year? The J-beauty skincare brand is treating shoppers to some exclusive promos and freebies. Simply purchase your Hada Labo products at The SM Store’s Beauty Section in SM North EDSA on December 29, 2022 to January 11, 2023 to enjoy these perks. Hada Labo face lotions and other products are available at Watsons and Zalora, and through the official Mentholatum store on Lazada and Shopee.

Hada Labo - Japan's No.1 Facial Lotion is now available in the PH

I learned about Hada Labo Hydrating Facial Lotion 4 years ago when I was shopping for skincare in Hongkong. The crowd (most of them tourists like me) went wild because it was 20% off sale. Everyone hoarded all the Hada Labo facial lotion and other products. Before I knew it, I grabbed the only bottle that was left in the rack. I was wondering then, what was the fuzz?. In my mind, this product should be that good to be hoarded and lined up.

Back to my hotel, I tested it after taking my shower. I have a combination skin. My T-zone is oily and the rest of the face is dry. The facial lotion is clear like water, odorless and has no alcohol.  It was just like any other toners but this one keeps moisture at bay. It is never drying and its good to partner with any foundation. It never breaks me out. It cleans and refreshes skin.

Since then, I have been using and  buying this at a Japanese Store in Robinsons Manila where it was available.  The only physical store that carried the brand.

When my supplies ran out, I went back to the mall only to find out that it closed store already.  So I tried online,  it was never cheap buying this online because of tax and shipping fee. Thats why I was happy to know that my HG facial toner is now available here in the Philippines. Its so affordable that before you buy the large size you may opt to try the 30ml variant first.

Last August 6,  Hada Labo was finally launched in Manila at the Blue Leaf, Taguig. The event was graced by Hada Labo executives and media.

Here are the Hada Labo Pricelist, now available in any Watsons stores nationwide.
