Lalamove Addresses Fraud Concerns with Driver Facial Recognition

Lalamove Philippines has taken decisive action to tackle fraudulent activities amid reports of driver accounts being sold or shared. To assure customers of safe and reliable deliveries, the leading on-demand delivery platform is reinforcing security protocols while working closely with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Facial Recognition Feature for Enhanced Security

As part of its anti-fraud measures, Lalamove has introduced facial recognition verification feature within its Driver App to ensure that only authorized drivers can access the platform.

All partner drivers must verify their identity through a facial scan before accepting bookings, ensuring that only legitimate drivers handle deliveries. The feature reinforces driver accountability and works in tandem with other monitoring systems, including manual reviews and activity trend analysis.

Drivers with mismatched information are subject to routine monitoring and are added to a watchlist, which triggers further investigation to prevent potential misuse. Offenders identified through these measures will be permanently banned from the platform under Lalamove’s one-hit policy.

Zero Tolerance for Fraud

With the new facial recognition feature in place, Lalamove’s stand is clear: selling or sharing driver accounts is strictly prohibited by the platform.

Lalamove Philippines Managing Director Djon Nacario emphasized, “Through our facial recognition feature, we can ensure that only authorized and verified partner drivers have access to the platform, ensuring a fair environment for all consumers. This initiative, with the support of DICT, reflects our zero-tolerance stance on fraudulent activities and our commitment to protecting both partner drivers and users.”

He also clarified that the feature complies with the Data Privacy Act of 2012, ensuring that the personal information of our partner drivers is handled securely while giving customers peace of mind.

Anti-Scam Tips for App Users

With the holiday season coming in, Lalamove encourages users to carefully and religiously double-check partner driver details—including name, photo, plate number, and vehicle information—before releasing items. If anything seems off, customers should report the issue immediately via Lalamove’s in-app Live Chat and reassign the order to another partner driver using the app’s "Find a New Driver" option.

“We deeply appreciate the trust and patience of our customers, especially the small businesses that rely on us daily,” Nacario added. “Our commitment remains strong and true – to providing a safe, reliable, and secure service to support livelihoods and keep deliveries running smoothly for the communities we serve.”

Lalamove Launches Typhoon Relief Operations for Farmers in New Baguio City Service Area

After recently launching its on-demand delivery services in Baguio City, Lalamove has been in talks with the local government to aid over 80 farmers during times of typhoon and produce oversupply. With the support of City Mayor Benjamin “Benjie” Magalong, the leading on-demand delivery platform aims to ensure farmers’ earnings are secured in times of crisis and to reduce produce waste.

As a critical hub for the distribution of vegetables from the Cordillera Administrative Region, Baguio City’s farmers are vulnerable to oversupply issues especially during typhoon season and “Ber” months.

Lalamove’s aid comes during crucial times when farmers’ produce areleft unsold, spoiled, and thrown away, resulting to the farmers’ loss of earnings. According to Djon Nacario, Lalamove Philippines Managing Director, the platform is working hand-in-hand with the Baguio local government to support the farmers’ needs during such incidents.

“The agricultural sector is vital to the Philippines. Amid the typhoon season, we have discussed with Mayor Magalong that should the farmers need assistance, Lalamove is ready to rescue-buy their produce, which will be donated to repository markets and communities in need,” explained Nacario.

Magalong expressed his support, saying, “Lalamove’s support to the Baguio City farmers cultivates hope and growth for our community, contributing to a more sustainable agricultural sector in the region.”

Lalamove is determined to extend this initiative to more farmers and markets across Metro Manila in collaboration with LGUs and other parties interested to serve as repository markets for the rescued produce.

Lalamove is not just about moving goods; it’s about moving lives forward,” said Nacario, adding, “As a testament to our commitment to continuously empower communities, this is just the beginning of the support we aim to provide to Baguio City and to the agricultural sector.”

Lalamove offers Fleet Management program to manage drivers and vehicles

Lalamove, the leading on-demand delivery platform, believes that now is an ideal moment to begin anew, thus providing aspiring entrepreneurs with more business opportunities through its Fleet Management Program for large vehicles, such as L300 and trucks.

With the upcoming summer festivities, businesses are expecting the peak season with orders pouring in. This is an opportune time for fleet owners to maximize their assets and earn more through the on-demand delivery platform.

Focus on flexibility

Lalamove’s Fleet Management offers a lot of benefits for fleet operators and partner drivers as it allows them to operate either full-time or part-time. Part-timers have the option of juggling having a side-hustle while maintaining their full-time job or another business. Fleet owners can register an unlimited number of vehicles that can be tracked and managed through the platform, ensuring more efficient fleet operations.

The vision of the same-day delivery platform is to combine ease and profit, which led to the creation of fleet operations. The brand has been putting efforts into developing platforms for the transport and logistics industry to give everyone a chance to “be their own boss”, especially aspiring Filipino entrepreneurs.

Productive investment

Fleet operations are lucrative in nature, but the main benefit of joining Lalamove’s Fleet Management program is that of earning a steady income without having to operate and run the fleet 24/7.

Patrick Guiyab, a newly onboarded Lalamove Fleet Operator, shared that upon seeing how in-demand trucking and transportation services are in the Philippines, he knew that enrolling in the fleet management program meant good business.

It’s a good business that really fits well into the budget and has a quick ROI (return on investment). It's easy to juggle being a Cost Engineer and managing my small fleet of vehicles,” he said.

Easy sign-up process

Being “your own boss” is possible with Lalamove’s easy sign-up process. Aspiring fleet owners can even do online or walk-in applications.

Those who decide to apply online only need to access Lalamove's official website and fill out the application form. The Lalamove team will then get in touch with the fleet owner to follow up on the submission and discuss the next steps. Once the application is accepted, the fleet owner will get a notification through SMS with login details, at which time they can begin registering their vehicles and drivers.

Lalamove marks 6th year celebration in the Philippines

In celebration of its sixth anniversary of reliable same-day delivery service in the Philippines, Lalamove recognized its hardworking partner drivers in its three key locations –Manila, Pampanga, and Cebu during the recently concluded caravan entitled “6sik Saya Ka Dito, Bossing!”

A total of seven partner drivers were rewarded with brand-new motorcycles from Alpine Motors Corporation, Tata Motors, and GCash, while others also won appliances, smartphones, cash prizes, vouchers, and more. They were also treated with an exclusive movie screening for them to enjoy with their families.

Lalamove Philippines’ Pampanga City Manager Marc De Dios expressed his gratitude to all Lalamove Bossings, As part of Lalamove’s tradition and in recognizing its partner drivers' valuable contributions to the brand, we make it a point to show our appreciation to them and continue to uplift the lives of each and every partner driver we have. Being a partner driver is not an easy feat, it entails a lot of patience and hard work. With that, I personally salute our Lalamove Bossings!”

Congratulations to the Lucky Raffle Winners

It was pure luck when Richard Tambiga, a part-time MPV partner driver, won the brand-new motorcycle at the Cebu event. “I am grateful for Lalamove because it serves as an option for me to earn extra when I have no scheduled trips at my regular job,” he said.

He also wants to encourage his fellow partner drivers to be patient with the customers and “mag-kugi” (to work hard). “With Lalamove, as long as you strive hard, you will earn more than what you are expecting in a day,” Tambiga added.

Meanwhile, weeks before the Pampanga event, Lalamove Bossing Kreavior Lapuz, met with an accident  which  damaged his motorcycle. “With this brand-new motorcycle, I can now do my deliveries without worrying about my safety. I hope Lalamove expands to more areas so more Bossings can experience the opportunities and benefits we are enjoying,” he said as he recalled how Lalamove has changed his life for the better.

Rewarding Remarkable Partner Drivers

In a span of six years in the country, Lalamove has built a strong community of partner drivers, recognizing outstanding ones as Star Drivers and Top Drivers. They are partner drivers who have shown remarkable service to customers and have maintained good customer ratings.

Manila Star Driver Ariel Alulod has been with Lalamove for two years. His unemployment due to the pandemic drove him to be a partner driver. Lalamove announced its strengthened partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry Region 3 (DTI-3)

Third-party logistics solutions provider Lalamove announced its strengthened partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry Region 3 (DTI-3) for the upcoming Likha ng Central Luzon Trade Fair. The partnership sees Lalamove’s continued support of the government’s efforts to empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Philippines stimulus program.

This entails the provision of business logistics solutions to businesses across provinces within Central Luzon – namely Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales – that are designed to drive growth, widen reach, and boost economic performance.

A collaboration to further Central Luzon’s growth

This collaboration between Lalamove and DTI is in line with the latter’s promotion of entrepreneurship across the Philippines, and its continued advocacy for local products and goods. Supported by the Regional Development Council-3 and the Central Luzon Growth Corridor Foundation, Inc., it furthers the Department’s mandate to drive inclusive economic growth across all regions, provinces, and cities in the country.

Likha ng Central Luzon Trade Fair, a major regional trade promotion activity jointly organized by DTI-3 and Philexport-3 aims to gather and champion the region’s entrepreneurs. The annual event will run its 24th edition on October 26-30, 2022 at the Mega Trade Hall, SM Megamall.

“By working together with logistics partner Lalamove, we hope to bridge the gap between Central Luzon communities, shine a light on the beauty of Filipino craftsmanship, creativity and ingenuity by opening the avenue for MSMEs to reach wider markets without compromising affordability and efficiency, and ultimately boost regional commerce across the country,”  DTI-3 Assistant Regional Director Brigida Pili commented.

Business solutions for MSME growth & empowerment

“As an advocate for MSME growth and empowerment, especially at the regional level, we hope to serve as a platform that enables connection among markets and communities in the Philippines, starting with Central Luzon. By working closely with the government to provide access to local entrepreneurs, we hope more businesses will feel more empowered and confident to grow their businesses further, and reach farther, with Lalamove,” expressed Dannah Majarocon, Lalamove Philippines Managing Director.

Through the on-demand delivery platform’s long-distance delivery and last-mile delivery solutions, the partnership hopes to push entrepreneurs to grow further with the app’s affordable rates (fixed price for the first 40 kms), reach farther with wider coverage across 31 serviceable areas in Luzon, and broaden their market through a wide-ranging fleet of vehicles fit for every delivery requirement.

Through these offerings and more, MSMEs can easily widen their scope for both B2B and B2C deliveries, effectively opening new opportunities for growth with Lalamove. This, tied with the Likha ng Central Luzon Trade Fair, and entrepreneurs across Central Luzon are given the perfect avenue to establish new partnerships, promotions and connections with neighbouring provinces and communities.

With the Lalamove app, MSMEs can book from Pampanga, Manila, Olongapo and Tarlac within Central Luzon, or across Luzon, for their business needs. They will immediately have access to features such as route optimization, trusted partner drivers, and multi-stop deliveries, to name a few, plus a fleet of motorcycles, sedans, 4-wheel, 6-wheel, and even 10-wheel trucks to tap. As corporate clients, MSMEs can unlock further tools to enrich their ventures, including optimal support from the Lalamove team for growing businesses
