See a New Day: How SMILE at Fatima University Helps You Rediscover Clear Vision

As we grow older, it’s natural for our eyes to undergo changes—some gradual, some more noticeable. You may start holding your phone farther away, squinting more often, or struggling with night driving. These are just some of the signs of our eyes aging with us. But while blurry vision may feel inevitable, it doesn’t have to be permanent. With modern advancements in eye care, there's now a gentler, faster, and flap-free solution: SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction). And yes, it's now available at Fatima University Medical Center. If you’re ready to welcome the world with fresh, clearer vision—without the hassle of glasses or long recovery times—then SMILE might just be your new beginning. Because every day deserves to be seen clearly.

Fatima University Medical Center Antipolo (FUMC), a trusted leader in eye care in the Philippines, announced today the integration of the cutting-edge ZEISS SMILE pro technology into its Eye Laser Center offerings. This revolutionary laser vision correction procedure is minimally invasive and requires little recovery time. This advancement aims to help more patients achieve clear vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses.

FUMC has been at the forefront of providing exceptional eye care for decades. Its medical expertise, combined with the latest advancements in vision correction, such as the ZEISS SMILE pro, has transformed the lives of many visually impaired Filipinos.

The ZEISS SMILE pro is a minimally invasive procedure designed to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. Utilizing the advanced Zeiss Visumax 800 femtosecond laser, SMILE reshapes the cornea through a small incision, maintaining the biomechanical stability of the cornea, thereby protecting its integrity. The tiny incision also helps minimize post-operative dry eye. The laser ablation is completed in just nine seconds, faster compared to the earlier SMILE technology. This enhances patient comfort and overall procedural efficiency, and allows for a quick recovery time.

"Our integration of Zeiss SMILE pro underscores our dedication to pioneering the future of laser vision correction in the Philippines, providing Filipinos with the latest technology available, complemented by our caring and professional medical experts and staff," stated Dr. Vicente Santos, president of Fatima University Medical Center. "FUMC has a long and successful track record of achieving outstanding results for our eye care patients, and this latest advancement further solidifies our commitment to healthcare excellence."

Fatima University Medical Center is every Filipino’s partner in achieving clearer and better vision. Beyond laser vision correction, FUMC offers a comprehensive range of eye care services, including routine check-ups and advanced treatments for various eye conditions. Brighten Up Your Day With Timmy Albert’s “smile” Inbox

Timmy Albert is undoubtedly one of the most promising indie pop acts in today’s local music landscape. The 21-year-old singer-songwriter continues his dedicated work ethic through the ongoing pandemic, releasing another captivating new single “Smile” under Universal Records.

Opening with a soothing falsetto plus a simple yet bright guitar riff, his new song indeed has what it takes to be your next feel-good romantic anthem.

Timmy Albert’s “Smile” surely is captivating, as it tells someone you admire the most that he/she looks so divine and you just can’t help but to fall completely in love with him/her. It emanates a giddy head-over heels-for-you kind of vibe in less than three minutes as he croons “cuz even when it rains it’s summer time / I’m feelin’ all of the rays of your pretty smile.” The production centered around breezy pop sensibilities of Timmy and his groovy electric guitar playing skills. He just can’t wait for you to hear it!

The song follows his previous single “TOTGA” released last month which focuses on the melancholy from reminiscing a bad break up.

To promote his new song, Timmy made a TikTok video of him days ago performing “Smile” inside his room. (WATCH HERE)

“Smile” is also part of this week’s New Music Friday Philippines Playlist on Spotify. Brighten up your day and feel free to check out its official lyric video HERE!

DOT video pays tribute to 'Noypi' health workers around the world

As the world emerges from quarantine measures and more places are being declared safe from COVID-19, let us not forget the many Filipino health workers who have been risking their lives from the start of the pandemic, and who will continue to brave the front lines, thousands of miles away from home.

Following “Smile,” DOT’s inspirational tribute to Filipino frontliners, “Noypi” honors over 254,000 doctors, nurses, caregivers, hospital staff, and other healthcare workers who form part of the 10 million OFWs around the world.

Originally performed by the band Bamboo, Noypi’s surging melody and rousing lyrics are made tender and poignant when sung by 16-year-old Katching Silvestre to a choir-like vocal arrangement by her father Monet Silvestre.

We celebrate this Independence Day by standing with our frontliners. Your dedication to the profession has made an immense contribution to global recovery, and we are all deeply proud to say, “Hoy, Pinoy ako!”

Footage used in the video was crowdsourced, and all production was done remotely.
