Cordlife celebrates 10TH anniversary of giving chances and choices to help save lives

I have been attending Cordlife events for 3 consecutive years now. Though I have been blessed to have 3 healthy kids from a previous marriage. Still, I missed the chance of having my cord blood banked. As there were no available cordblood banks except from abroad during the 90s when my kids were born. The generation today are blessed to have a choice for cord blood banking. Imagine, the diseases that it would be treated in the future for your kids and family. It really is a gift of a lifetime to those you love.

To those who do not know. Cord blood is a rich source of blood stem cells. Stem cells are the building blocks of the blood and immune system. They have the ability to develop into other types of cells, so they can help repair tissues, organs, and blood vessels and can be used to treat a host of diseases.

The cord blood stem cell discoveries are nothing short of miraculous, especially with the list of stem cell treatable diseases that continuously grows at a rapid pace. Through this development, many illnesses that were deemed incurable now have cures, and cord blood banks have started to be set up all over the world.

Cordlife recently celebrates its 10th year anniversary last April 23 at Crowne Plaza. The event was attended by Cordlife management, Cordlife ambassadors and families who availed of Cordblood banking.

Cordlife is amongst the leading players for private cord blood banking services in  most of the markets it operates in, namely Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam and the Philippines.

It All Began with a Chance and a Choice

This year, Cordlife Philippines has reached a significant milestone of 10 years in the consumer healthcare industry. But the greatest breakthrough in their journey began with a decision they made a decade ago. A chance they took and a choice they made back then that proved to be right.

Their cord blood banking service was first introduced to the Philippine market in April 2009, and was headquartered in Antel Corporate Centre in Ortigas.

Their cord blood processing and storage facility in UP AyalaLand Technohub in Quezon City was established in 2010. It has a storage capacity for 30,000 cord blood and cord lining units and is built in accordance to global gold standards to give local families peace of mind.

It is the first and only stem cell bank to be registered with DOH and to be certified by ISO in the country since 2012. Cordlife is also the first in the Philippines to earn the prestigious AABB Accreditation in 2017.

A Decade of Quality Cord Blood Banking and Beyond

During the past 10 years, Cordlife Philippines has built a tradition of delivering the highest of quality standards in service and product offerings to every Filipino family. From less than ten, their team of highly talented and dedicated workforce grew to almost a hundred nationwide.

To provide families with more treatment options in the future, they launched their cord lining banking service in 2013. And to ensure that their clients’ health is well taken care of in the most holistic way possible, they introduced Cordlife Care360° Safeguard Program, Cordlife Shield, Cordblood Network, and Cordlife Transplant Care.

Now, more and more families are gaining access to cord blood and cord lining banking as the company extends their services in Visayas and Mindanao with the opening of their Cebu and Davao satellite offices.

Their prolific years of experience in umbilical cord blood banking pushed them further to offer more quality services. Hence, the introduction of their umbrella brand, Genscreen®. With Genscreen®, they launched genetic screening services such as: NICE and Prevue Non-Invasive Prenatal Tests and PlumCare DNA Advisor, the first and only family genetic testing in the Philippines.

More than just a Cord Blood Bank

With the power of cord blood stem cells in their care, Cordlife Philippines values great responsibility to their community as well. That is why in 2017, they pioneered a national advocacy called One Blood. The CSR program grants free cord blood banking to qualified pregnant moms with family history of diseases that can be treated by cord blood stem cells.

In celebrating the first ever World Cord Blood Day in the country, Cordlife Philippines joined hand-in-hand with healthcare professionals, celebrity brand ambassadors, and Cordlife moms to spread awareness about cord blood and cord blood banking through informative talks and lectures.

And as a gesture of gratitude to their clients, Cordlife introduced their Privilege Card that offers discounts and promos from their trusted partner brands.

Their journey in saving lives does not end here. The gift of giving chances and choices in securing precious stem cells will continue as they remain steadfast in providing reliable healthcare solutions and delivering excellence in cord blood banking and more.

With a firm belief that their services may offer life-changing and life-saving therapeutic options for families in the future, their commitment to continuously offer quality services will never be compromised. Because after all, Cordlife is really all about celebrating the gift of life!

Cordlife Philippines celebrates 1st World Cord Blood Day

I used to work in a hospital before. I remember when I was assigned at Delivery Room as a ward clerk. No one saved those umbilical cords for cord blood banking. It was thrown away right after deliveries. I should know because I was documenting each (Normal and Caesarean Section) deliveries in my shift. This was in the mid 90s. Little did I know that baby's cord can be used for medical treatment. It has since treated over 80 life-threatening diseases such as leukemia, thalassemia major, lymphoma and other blood disorders.

To those who do not know Cord blood is the blood in your baby's umbilical cord. The baby's cord blood can be collected at birth and stored for future medical use.
It is rich in stem cells that can morph into all sorts of blood cells. Both cord blood and cord tissue are rich sources of powerful stem cells.

That could be  used to treat diseases life threatening diseases and  metabolic disorders.

In case something happened to the baby or the family who needed medical treatment. Cord blood could help save lives of those you loved around.

If I have known it before or if someone advised me for cord blood banking. I would avail of it during those times. I had 3 normal deliveries.  Because cord banking is the best investment and gift that you could give to your loved ones, when they needed it for the future.

Cord blood, a newfound and non-controversial source of stem cells, has since saved thousands of other children from dreaded diseases through 40,000 cord blood stem cell procedures performed to date. Yet, not everyone is aware of the need to preserve this valuable, vital resource. In fact, in 98% of childbirths, cord blood is thrown away as medical waste.

It’s About Time
This year, November 15 has finally been designated as the first ever World Cord Blood Day. Arising as an answer to the need to promote awareness and expand education on the life-saving benefits of cord blood and cord blood banking, this is a celebration filled with talks, lectures and activities geared at reaching more families about this life saving resource and procedure.

In the country, Cordlife Philippines led the celebrations for this important event as the prime mover in the drive to enlighten Filipino families, particularly expectant parents, on the benefits of cord blood banking as an available standard option for treating over 80 life-threatening diseases such as leukemia, thalassemia major, lymphoma and other blood disorders.

Cordlife PH recently held a talk hosted by Cordlife Brand Ambassador Dimples Romana. The event was attended by Cordlife Ambassadors Nina Corpuz and Vanessa Matsunaga, to name a few.

The day’ 5 events revolve around the value and benefits of cord blood and cord blood banking, the latest developments in its use such as in the other areas of regenerative medicine such as the treatment of spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy and more.

Dr Arvin Faundo, one of the leading experts in Stem Cell Transplantation in the Philippines, answered many questions about cord blood and cord blood banking and how it serves as a non-controversial source of valuable stem cells that can save the lives of children afflicted with various dreaded diseases.

According to Dr. Faundo, "expectant parents in this country must be given sufficient information on the importance of cord blood banking. If the choice is not made, that chance is lost for good. "

The highlight of the celebrations is a ceremonial pact between Cordlife Philippines, its partners and its celebrity brand ambassadors including Vanessa Matsunaga, Nina Corpuz and host Dimples Romana to work hand in hand to promote and spread awareness of about cord blood and cordblood banking-a life-changing medical development that can save the lives of children all over the world.

Why is this crucial? Everyone knows about stem cells, they are at the forefront of one of the most fascinating and revolutionary areas of medicine today. However, not everyone knows that cord blood contains the healthiest stem cells that can replenish blood, regenerate damaged bone marrow, and treat blood cancers as well as correct genetic defects.
