Catch My Husband's Lover on FOX Filipino on June 20

Often controversial and always compelling, is probably the best way to describe My Husbands Lover, the series that forever changed primetime TV dramas.

For viewers who are sick and tired of the teleserye formula, about the poor falling in love with the rich and their families making their lives a living hell,  My Husbands Lover was provocative as it was refreshing.

Its such a familiar story, that no one dared to touch because of the stigma of homosexuality.

My Husbands Lover turned Tom Rodriguez  into a certified leading man as Vincent, showcased Dennis Trillo's versatility as Vincent's lover Eric and revealed a new side to Carla Abellana who played Lally, the martyr wife

“We’re excited to feature a highly lauded production such as My Husband’s Lover on FOX Filipino—it’s a quality Filipino production that not only entertains audiences but also challenges them to question outdated norms. FOX Filipino is giving those who missed out on the series an opportunity to fall in love with its fascinating characters and their struggle to care for each other under rigid expectations from society.”

FOX Filipino has announced that it will soon feature one of the most talked about local drama series in the country, My Husband’s Lover, which premieres on the channel on June 20, 2016. This groundbreaking series that follows the story of a woman’s awakening to her husband’s hidden sexuality will be shown on weeknights, with back-to-back episodes from Monday to Friday, 7 PM to 8:50 PM. Fans of My Husband’s Lover can also get their fill of this critically acclaimed drama with replays on weekdays from 7 AM to 9 AM and marathons every Saturday from 9 AM to 5:55 PM.

My Husband’s Lover centers on the story of Lally (Carla Abellana), a woman who marries
early after being impregnated by her boyfriend Vincent, who in turn strives to become a
good husband. Despite his good intentions, Vincent (Tom Rodriguez) hides a secret deep
inside him that threatens his marriage: his unshakeable attraction to men. When Vincent
encounters his old love Eric (Dennis Trillo), who is openly gay, he slides into a passionate
affair that even Lally can’t ignore in her innocent devotion to her husband. Lally refuses to
give up on her marriage and the future of their children, and she makes a bold decision that
will change her life, Vincent’s, and Eric’s forever.

On its first run, the series gained generally positive reviews from critics and viewers for its
portrayal of tolerance, forgiveness, and a side of marriage rarely seen on Philippine
television. My Husband’s Lover was also given recognition by various local and international
award-giving institutions, including a “highly commended” distinction for Trillo’s portrayal as
Eric at the prestigious Asian Television Awards. It was also nominated in the Telenovela
category at the International Emmy Awards, which recognizes television production
excellence outside the US.

BSM Students supports The Gala Foundation

On Friday 3 June 2016,  British School Manila Year 6 classes welcomed the children from their Service Learning Partner, The Gala Foundation, based in Angono, Rizal.

We decided to invite Gala to BSM and use the money we had have raised to provide fun activities we could do with the children - to help us get to know each other,’ said a student from class 6GP.

Over the past few weeks BSM Year 6 students have worked hard to raise money for The Gala Foundation through their 'Money Matters' project. The students sold a range of products on BSM campus, to their fellow students, over a 2-day period and raised over PhP30,000.

During the visit by Gala, each Year 6 class led a different event. 6GP class began the day with sport, year 6AD then led an art project and 6GD finished the morning with an ICT activity.

‘It was fun and this was just the first step in working with the Gala Foundation,’ said a student from 6GP. ‘We will continue to support them next year in other ways.’

Some notes from BSM students about the morning:

"During the Gala visit I liked doing sports with them, tennis and poison ball. I loved spending time with them, showing them around our school and walking and chatting. -student from 6GP class
When Gala came to Year 6 we had prepared 3 activities for them. My class helped them to decorate a bag which they could then take to their house. We made many new friends and my Year 6 friends agree that it was an experience we won't forget. - student from 6AD class

During the Gala visit I really enjoyed working with the children on the ICT activity as we got to teach them how to edit pictures. They made a personal card which they took home to decorate their rooms. - student from  6GD

It was a fun morning for everyone involved and a special 'Thank You' to Miss Gemma, BSM's wonderful PLA, for helping to organise a memorable experience.

Pound4Pound Grilled Burgers: For the juiciest Themed Burgers

In this corner:  Pound4Pound Grilled Burgers

When youre the one who loves her/his burger juicy, with all the right toppings: caramelized onions bacon, tomatoes, pickles, and chopped onions with mustard, if you like it sweet and savory. Then youre in for a little surprise.  I had a grand time visiting Pound4Pound Grilled Burgers stall at the Yummy Eats Baon Blowout at Glorietta Activity Center.  I wanted mine sweet and savory with all the topping smacked in between patties. I went for Italian Stallion made with beef patty layered with Italian veggies, shredded osso buco, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese in between homemade focaccia. Mediterranean-inspired. It was juicy, with the right cheese tucked in, the patty was well done with all the right marinade.  It was perfect for me.
It’s always a treat when one stumbles upon a place where burgers are more than just fast food grub.

Chef-entrepreneur Claude Noel Hizon gives this classic comfort food the respect it deserves, serving themed burgers under the banner Pound4Pound Grilled Burgers. The rising foodpreneur’s stall can be seen in various weekend markets and can be ordered thru “Food Panda” delivery services.

Everything is Homemade

It doesn’t take much explanation to understand why hungry customers come here for burgers; the ingredients speak for themselves. For one, Chef Claude uses 100% pure beef for his patties. This meticulous attention to quality is also evident in the premium ingredients including the different kinds of homemade buns, toppings, condiments and add-ons which he makes from scratch.

“Burgers are obviously my favorite comfort food. And I’m very particular with how I want my burger to be, so I started making my own versions and thought of sharing them with others,” says the 30-year-old chef, who graduated from ISCAHM. Claude’s experience in the kitchen was fully honed working at various establishments like Italianni's, Discovery Shores Boracay, Richmonde Hotel in Eastwood and most recently, at Raffles and Fairmont Hotels in Makati where he was a chef de partie. He is now a private chef-caterer and a partner at Current Swell Coffee Brewery that he co-owns with his best friend, Miko Sarmiento and  Mikos wife, Angeli also Karnevore restaurant in Marikina together with other business associates.

The name Pound4Pound, meanwhile, is actually a reference to Claude’s love for the sport of boxing. “In a way, Pound4Pound represents my passion for boxing and burgers merged into one food concept. In boxing parlance, it means value. It can also stand for ‘the best of the best’, which is my objective when making burgers. I don’t like cutting corners. Even my burgers are conceptualized in such a way that each has its own robust flavor brought about by the complimentary ingredients,” he says.

Themed burgers on its menu.

Italian Stallion

They have the Italian Stallion made with beef patty layered with Italian veggies, shredded osso buco, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese in between homemade focaccia. Mediterranean-inspired, Leonidas is a Greek burger using brioche bun topped with lamb shank, feta cheese, and tomato & bell pepper jam.

Twice the Fun is Chef Claude’s take on the classic double cheeseburger: a mouthwatering tier of two patties, pickled cucumber, red onion, tomatoes and two kinds of cheddar cheese. He elevates the humble pan de sal into a gourmet sandwich with the noy-Pi Burger, juicy beef patty topped with shredded pork humba, buttered liver and pickled radish. For big breakfast eaters, Claude serves the Early Bird, a hearty meal in itself with burger patty topped with corned beef hash, fried egg, and two kinds of cheddar between halved English muffin.

Those who like their burgers simple may opt for the Classic Cheeseburger, a satisfying combo of beef patty, cheddar cheese sauce, pickles, tomatoes, onion, and lettuce on homemade brioche.

Aside from burgers, Pound4Pound also offers two kinds of pasta: P4P’s Spaghetti Meatballs and Osso Buco Lasagna.

Photo Face-Off returns on History Channel for Season 3!

After two successful seasons, A+E Networks Asia’s original production PHOTO FACE-OFF is set to return on HISTORY for season three. Currently in production, viewers in the region can look forward to the five episode series’ premiere later this year.

Award-winning resident professional photographer Justin Mott is back to take on a new group of amateur photographers who will compete against him, and each other, for the top prize. For the third consecutive year, Canon will be the series’ presenting sponsor, in association with Silk Air. This season’s pool of talented photographers are vying for an overseas trip to the Canon Photo Clinic, a Canon EOS 7D Mark II camera + Canon Red Line Professional Backpack and the opportunity to photograph a red carpet event for A+E Networks.

Besides picking up valuable photography tips from the region’s leading experts, viewers will also experience some of Southeast Asia’s most unique activities and exotic locales. From capturing a figure skater in action, to styling and shooting an album cover for a popular local band, this year’s challenges will be more exciting than ever.

Three local amateurs in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand will be given new photographic challenges each week in their home town, designed to test the shooters’ creativity, skill and technical knowledge. A panel of professionals will judge their work and the pack will be whittled down after each challenge until there is one country representative who will then move on to the grand finale in Vietnam.

Each episode will feature a three-round battle: a speed challenge which will require them to think on their feet and race against time; a theme challenge where they will have to meet a client’s brief; and a final face-off where the last one standing will compete head to head with expert Justin Mott for bragging rights and Canon prizes.

PHOTO FACE-OFF is the first and biggest photography reality competition television series in Asia and is produced by Beach House Productions for A+E Networks Asia.

HISTORY is available on SKYCable Ch 67; Cable Link Ch. 43; Dream Satellite Ch 30; Destiny Cable Ch 57; and Cignal Ch 125.

Orange Blush Salon Opens Branch in Cubao

Orange Blush Salon will have its first branch in Metro Manila with the opening of a new salon in Spark Place Cubao in July.

Orange Blush Salon opened its first branch in Nueva Ecija in 2003.

“It was already a small salon by then, owned and operated by a hairstylist and two other junior stylists. It was about to close down due to financial difficulties, and I was at that time, looking for a place already to put up my own small salon since I had always been interested in the beauty business," says Joby Linsangan Moreno, proprietor of Orange Blush Salon.

Joby took pride—and still does—in Orange Blush being a proud and successful probinsyano brand. And she knows deep in her heart, that inevitably, the day would come when she would have to expand the reach of the business outside Nueva Ecija either through franchising or putting up new company-owned branches.

“The plan was to move to conquer the metro, carrying with us that unique and probinsiyano brand that we represent,” she explains.

Now, they are all set to launch a branch in Spark Place Cubao and even have special promos. These include an opening promo of P20 per haircut if a customer wears orange (this will go on for three days following the opening, she says); anybody who comes in with an Orange Blush salon flyer will get a 25 percent discount in the newly-opened salon; a Loyalty Card that entitles the customer to a free hair treatment on the fourth visit and a free manicure and pedicure on the eighth visit.

“There will also be freebies to be given away during the opening,” says Joby excitedly.

But that’s not all. Joby also shares that the first franchise salon of Orange Blush will open in Bambang, Sta. Cruz, also in July with three more franchises to open soon.

With this move to the big city, Metro Manilans will finally get to experience the kind of impeccable service that Orange Blush has become known for in Central Luzon.

Joby and her staff are looking forward to welcoming clients and having them try their rebonding services, their manicure and pedicure, hair treatments and hair coloring, and the money-back guarantee.

Orange Blush is one of the very few (if not the only) salon that is so confident about the services it offers that it has a money-back guarantee in case customers are not happy with the service."Sinasabi namin lagi na sa Orange Blush salon, warantisado ang kagandahan. Meron po warranty ang lahat ng customer ng Orange Blush," Joby adds.

Yazz Card presents the Multitasking Celebrity Dads

Perfectly fitting with the evolving needs of today's generation—from paying bills, booking travel tickets, and purchasing from go-to online shops online—Metrobank Card Corporation offers YAZZ card, the all-around prepaid VISA card that allows cashless transactions, anytime, anywhere.

This Men’s Month, give the special man in your lives the gift of shopping convenience with a swipe of a card. YAZZ card asks celebrity dads, Ali Khatibi, Troy Montero, and AJ Dee, on how they balance their career, family, personal time and still do what they love despite of their back-to-back schedule.

“I'm usually kept busy with sports training, attending business meetings, and running errands,” says Khatibi, who married actress, Cristine Reyes—with whom he has a daughter, Amarah—earlier this year. With both mom and dad leading hectic work lives, Khatibi and Reyes makes it a point to spend free days together eating out, watching movies, or taking long drives. “Our daughter is only a year old, and it's critical that the three of us spend time with each other as much as we can.” The young family recently went on trips to Thailand and Iocos Norte.

Dee’s schedule is just as hectic. When he isn’t shooting, working at an event, or updating his blog, The Filo Dapper, Dee squeezes in some much-needed me time by working out, watching a movie, or simple reflecting. “That’s the time you get to think, to reflect. Dun ako nagkaka ideas.” Moreover, Dee, actively finds time to talk to his family, who are based in Norway. “It’s a different kind of situation because were apart from each other,” he says. With a six-hour time difference, he reserves late evenings to communicate and bond with his wife and two sons through Facetime. When he visits them in Norway, the family bonds by shopping, which is great exposure for Dee’s fashion blogging.

Like Khatibi and Dee, Montero’s daily routine is a balanced mix of daddy duty and work responsibility. Up by 5am in the morning, Montero is in charge of taking his kids to school, before heading to the gym, followed by the office. Apart from hosting events and making TV appearances, Montero runs We Love Post, a production company. Once weekends, Montero goes on full father mode, bonding with his children and long-time partner, Aubrey Miles.  “Since school is on, family time is usually on the weekends.” The Montero-Miles brood counts shopping, eating out, or travelling during the summer among their go-to activities. “That’s the way I grew up. My parents made an effort to spend time with us on the weekends and I appreciate the time and effort they put into it.”

For these three guys, shopping certainly counts as both a family activity and a personal one. However with their busy schedules, they especially love the idea of online shopping for the unique conveniences it affords them. Khatibi, Dee, and Montero talks about the perks of making purchases with one click of the button.

“We usually book airline tickets, hotel rooms online if we are going on a trip,” says Khatibi, who also purchases sports gear through the internet. Dee, who also has his own suit collection, naturally gravitates towards fashion pieces like accessories and hard-to-find shoes. Finally, Montero likes the online-only travel perks, in addition to the convenience of purchasing anything from clothes to gifts. And with convenience and time-saving in place, these guys have more time to raise their families and enrich their lives.

Life demands much of these male celebrities. Between tapings, trainings, family time and even squeezing in much needed R&R like a quick online shopping session, the best companion to a multi-tasking lifestyle is a card that works as hard as you do, Metrobank’s YAZZ card!

Use YAZZ to instantly pay for bills and purchases from your favourite boutiques, supermarkets and 24/7 convenience stores worldwide. Go online to book travel tickets, buy books and games, and even plan entire vacations  with more confidence as the YAZZ card is EMV-enabled, which is the same technology used with credit cards that gives you more security and protection.

Shopping abroad becomes even more convenient as YAZZ is accepted in over 40 million VISA accredited merchants worldwide. YAZZ users can also enjoy aggregate load balance of up to P100,000 per month, which means more purchasing power with your card. And in instances where you need cash, you don’t need to worry as you can simply withdraw at the nearest accredited ATM.

Goldilocks celebrates Goldi-Father's day!

Its that time of the year when we remember our father. Thank you's and gifts are not enough to show him how he is loved. Spend a day or two and a simple "kwentuhan"  would mean a lot to him. To my tatay, happy father's day and I wanted you to know that I love you beyond words. Ill be seeing you this weekend to spend Father's day with you and nanay.

One part love, another part fatherly wisdom, add a sprinkling of corny jokes and you have the basic formula for a dad. The equation may be straightforward, but don’t take that to imply simplicity, because as many of us know, raising a child takes a lot of work!

Father’s Day is time where we strive to show the men who raised us how much we appreciate and love them, because despite their responsibilities and hectic schedules, they have always given their time, love, and support to us.

So what can we do to show the dads of the world how much they mean to us? With every passing year, Father’s Day arrives with the annual panic of trying to find a last minute gift that we desperately hope doesn’t look like a last minute gift.

Thus, instead of a goofy tie, why not indulge your dad’s sweet tooth? Apart from the Chocolate Caramel Decadence – a luscious chocolate fudge cake filled with gooey caramel – Goldilocks Bakeshop also offers a range of gifts that will give any father a perfect end to a work-filled day.  Exquisitely delicious, affordable, and true to the Pinoy spirit, there’s truly no better way to fill your dad’s heart with joy.

It is said that the quickest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and the country’s best-loved bakeshop certainly abides by this. Indeed, Goldilocks gifts are a scrumptious way to celebrate a special day, and put a smile on your father’s face.

For more information on Goldilocks’ delights, or to order something for your loved ones, visit www.goldilocks.com.ph or join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter via GoldilocksPH []

Ku'te celebrates a different kind of love at the World Premieres Film Festival-PH

KU'TE,  produced by PRO.PRO with story and direction by Ronaldo  "Roni" M. Bertubin and screenplay by Romualdo Avellanosa, celebrates a different kind of love as it participates in the World Premieres Film Festival Philippines.

Ku'te, for Direk Roni, tells about the relationship of Emong, a hardworking young man who works as a production assistant and his sister, LenLen, a girl with Down syndrome (DS). Johan Santos plays the role of Emong and Marielle Therese, who is really afflicted with DS, plays LenLen :
He says, "My inspiration for this movie is a friend who I worked with for a production outfit. He told me about his sister who has Down Syndrome.  This co-worker of mine, handang gawin ang lahat para itaguyod ang kapatid. Then I added some other elements for people to understand and realize what it is like to have a family member with DS. These are collective stories that I learned from friends, acquaintances, even strangers na may kapatid, kakilala, kamag-anak na may DS, pero iba-iba ang level ng pang-unawa at pagmamahal nila."

He emphasizes, "Through this movie, gusto kong patunayan sa lahat na bigyan lang ng pagkakataon, they can be assets and not liabilities, na ang mga taong may DS ay may kakayahan. di man kasing galing ng tunay na artista, pero totoo sa kanilang bawat kilos at galaw."

"As a director, it was a great challenge for me and the rest of the cast to work with Marielle. This young lady is very talented, she easily understands and picks up instructions very well. I'm sure people will be affected by her."

Johan Santos, who portrays the role of Emong reveals, "The role is very challenging for me on two major levels, first is being the brother of Lenlen. During the whole course of the shooting, Marielle as LenLen was cooperative, kind, sweet, no tantrums whatsoever. I give credit to her mom who takes good care of her. Second was my character. Emong is gay and he’s hopelessly devoted and in love with Roldan, played by Nico Gomez. "

Nico Gomez quips, "More than the subplot of our love story, the most important love celebrated and embraced in this movie is the love that Emong and Lenlen share. It was both an eye-opener and heart- warming. No other love can comes close to the love that this brother and sister share. "

Also in the movie are Maya Samson as Meding and Adrian Ramirez as Jeff.

Direk Roni wishes that people will support Ku'Te. "This is my dream. Pangarap kong sana mabigyan ng pantay na pagkakataon ang lahat, sana makita ang kakayahan ni Marielle, maramdaman ang kanyang pangarap, mata at puso ang gumagalaw sa kanyang inosenteng pananaw sa lahat."

He ends, "I pray that this movie opens a lot of eyes and stirs a lot of hearts. Lahat ay may pantay na karapatan at tayo, who are supposedly normal and able, we must not only embrace and love people with Down syndrome, it is imperative that we defend and protect them from people who are abusive and capable of doing evil deeds to the differently-abled."

Supporting director Bertubin, to realize his advocacy movie Ku'te are Bounty Fresh ( Chooks to Go ), Wang Chu King Foundation (Mighty Corporation) Don Benito’s and Rebisco.

The World Premieres Film Festival - Philippines, mounted and organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), will be held from June 29 to July 10, 2016.

Cebu Pacific and UNICEF partners for vital child health and nutrition campaign

Now, flying with Cebu Pacific will not only take travelers to the best destinations here and abroad, it will also bring much-needed health and nutrition to infants and young children.

Cebu Pacific (PSE:CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have partnered to introduce the Change for Good program in the country. CEB is the Change for Good launch partner in Southeast Asia.

“Change for Good is an extraordinary opportunity to help lay the foundation for the Philippines’ future. The team looks forward to working hand in hand with our guests in making a difference in many children’s lives,” said Lance Gokongwei, Cebu Pacific President and CEO.

Change for Good is an innovative global partnership between UNICEF and the international airline industry. Established in 1987, the program is designed to collect donations from passengers and convert these into life-saving materials and services for vulnerable children in more than 150 countries around the world.

Change for Good will initially be implemented from CEB’s Manila hub starting July 1, before being rolled out across its other Philippine hubs.

“We are very thankful to Cebu Pacific for empowering its thousands of everyday passengers to contribute through their own small way, towards helping provide health and wellness to children in the most at-risk communities,” said Lotta Sylwander, UNICEF Philippines country representative.

During mid-flight, after the Fun Games, CEB cabin crew will invite passengers to make a donation to help fund UNICEF’s 1,000 Days Health and Nutrition program.

The program aims to provide optimal health and nutrition in the first 1,000 days of a Filipino child, from a mother’s pregnancy to the child’s second year of life. Safeguarding the health and nutrition of children during this critical window will ensure that they are protected from life-threatening childhood diseases, that they finish more years of school, and even earn up to 50% more as adults.

CEB, which marked its 20th year of operations this year, chose UNICEF’s First 1,000 Days Health and Nutrition program as the beneficiary of its Change for Good partnership. The first1,000 days of a child are crucial to physical and mental growth and is the foundation of the child’s ability to grow, learn and earn later in life.

Donate to UNICEF’s Change for Good 1,000 Days program on your Cebu Pacific flights, starting July 1!For more information on Change for Good, visit www.cebupacificair.comand 1000days.unicef.ph.
