Kapuso Star Ms.LJ Reyes celebrates birthday with a yoga session

The holidays can be extra tough especially for all the moms out there who have to add more time for shopping to buy gifts for the entire family. So a couple of months ago, I started going to the gym hoping to lose a few pounds and gain a bit of strength to ease my recurring leg pain.


My doctor had advised me to move around and do some strengthening exercises to mobilise my right leg. I gained around 10 pounds during the past four years which I think is one of the reasons for my leg pain as I am not used to being this heavy.



I’ve been trying to squeeze some gym time 3x a week but with our schedules becoming more hectic, so I try to exercise every opportunity I get.

 And last week I got an invite to celebrate Kapuso Star LJ Reyes 30th birthday at Snap Fitness Gym in Tomas Morato, in front of GMA Network.

Yes a birthday party at the Gym. This is certainly not the usual invitation I get.



Ms LJ Reyes showed up in her work out shirt,  leggings and a Melissa slides. She looked really fit and toned and she doesn’t seem to age even though she’s already in her 30s and has a kid.

She has this healthy disposition which explains her rosy glow.  She is simply pretty and charming in person.

It was perfect time to meet her personally and to know what she has been doing lately.


The event was hosted by GMA Artist Joshua Jacobe. 

She told our group of bloggers that she has been working out toning her abs, arms, butts and hips with a trainer.  Her fitness routine includes cardio and yoga. Since she came from the family who loves to eat out. She has been watching her diet and religiously goes to the gym. Though she doesn’t follow any particular diet, she makes sure to eat in moderation avoiding salty and sugary food.

Ms. LJ started her showbiz career when she joined Starstruck reality show 12 years ago in 2005. She was just 16 years old then. She won her first Gawad Urian award as Best Actress for "Anino sa Likod ng Buwan" on 2016. She has a son named Aki with celebrity actor Paulo Avelino, who is now 7 years old.

Take us back to riding trains, walking around and wandering carelessly of time! But this time, so much to celebrate!❤️ (photo taken last May) now... thinking of a good hashtag for this year’s Christmas trip...🤔 suggestions??

Besides being a good actress LJ is now also an app developer and has helped develop an App for moms out there. Its called MApp ( The Smart Mommy app) is designed for moms (and dads too) who have little kids. The app works when you are looking for some establishments and activities to do and for some emergencies.  The app is available on Android and iOS.

How do you choose your shoes? Do you pick one based on style or are your looking for more comfort?

Ask those who know me and they’ll tell you that  I never compromise comfort over style. Style might always be the one to get my attention but once I put it on, I make sure that it wouldn’t punish my feet.


That’s why I seldom wear heels or platforms. I reserve those for important occasions like a wedding or my kid’s graduation. I can only walk in them for just an hour, but longer than that,  there’ll be blisters slowly appearing on my weary feet.

Those that are painful and hard to walk in are definitely a “no-no” for my shoe rack. I am comfortable with sneakers, wedges and slides. That's why when Im buying my shoes, I make sure that the inside soles are soft and my feet are comfortably settled in, toes and everything.

That is why those pairs that I can walk in for 7 hours without hurting my feet are my favorites. Especially when they are stylish and can accessorize the whole outfit. Though it wasn’t my first time inside their store, I was surprised that they have this device called "Check & Fit" which could check the condition of your feet. Of course I had to try it out! I learned that my feet needs a bit of correction because my soles are not properly settled inside the shoes, that's why Im mejo bow legged. There was even a doctor there who suggested which kind of Dr Kong shoes I should choose to help fix my condition.

As much as hate to admit it, I only realized how important Dr. Kong’s valued service after having tried it out for myself.



Just like a lot of moms out there who balance career and running the household  we oftentimes fail to pay attention to their own needs most especially when it comes to caring for our feet.

Even having a pedicure or a foot spa takes a back seat to taking care of our family, so we really often don’t get enough time to choose the right footwear ourselves and fail to anticipate the harsh conditions our feet can encounter throughout the day.

If not properly taken cared off our feet may develop problems like calluses, corns, bunions, and heel spurs. Calluses thicken and build up whenever feet become constrained by spaces during walking. Because of pressure and friction, the skin hardens and becomes flaky and dry.

Corns and bunions, on the other hand, develop alongside calluses and worsen the pain on the feet.  Heel spurs along with cracks develop from more intense activities like running or jogging, especially when these are done on hard surfaces like gym floors.

Then there’s the plantar fascia--the flat tissue or ligament that links the heel bones to the toes. Its role is to support the foot but once it gets strained, it becomes weaker and irritated. When this occurs this heel strain is called plantar fasciitis, usually caused by the ligaments exceeding its limit for support. When the ligaments are repeatedly strained, tiny tears may be caused and the damage can lead to pain and swelling in the affected area.

All these common problems can be treated or cut after they’ve developed, but as they say prevention is always better than cure and wearing specially-designed foot wear is arguably the best prevention out there.

PLAY FOR FUN, ACTION, ADVENTURE IN THE ALL-NEW “JUMANJI”

The game has changed, but the legend continues in Columbia Pictures' upcoming action-adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (in Philippine cinemas January 8.)


In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, starring an all-star cast – Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan – four unlikely friends get sucked into the perilous world of Jumanji, and are transformed into avatars with unique skills. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in Jumanji forever…

Producer Matt Tolmach is a longtime fan of the original film Jumanji starring the late Robin Williams and of Chris Van Allsburg’s children’s fantasy book that inspired the franchise. Upon looking at the 1995 feature with fresh eyes, he says, “I immediately felt there were more Jumanji stories to be told. My first thought was, ‘What’s the next chapter in that story? What’s the next Jumanji adventure?’ It was a natural step to continue what began over 20 years ago.”

Tolmach and writer Chris McKenna saw a new direction for Jumanji: they would turn the concept on its head. Rather than bringing the jungle into our world, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle would bring the players into the jungle – and not just that. “The game evolves, from a board game to a video game – the game will do what it has to do to be played,” Tolmach explains. “And video games are a perfect fit for the world of Jumanji: you get to leave your world behind as you become someone else – an adventurer, a doctor, a hero.

This would be a great way to explore classic timeless themes – being yourself and embracing who you are while also challenging yourself to do things you never thought were possible. They have to go and be somebody that seems completely different from who they think they are – except maybe they’re not so different after all. It’s not a coincidence that you became this character who is seemingly so different than you are – you just need to go on this journey to figure out what you are capable of. You always had it inside you.”



“Our lead characters are actually teenagers who are played by adult actors,” says director Jake Kasdan. Tolmach had previously worked with Kasdan on several films and thought he’d be the perfect choice to direct. “This is a time of self-discovery for them, but it plays out in this fantastical context. So, as they are figuring out who they are in real life, they suddenly find themselves occupying other people’s bodies in this game – people who, on the surface, are nothing like them. I thought that was a really funny idea, but also really interesting. What would you discover about yourself, if you could spend a day in somebody else’s body?”

Still, the movie is a comedy with plenty of kickass action. “We wanted to build a classic action adventure movie with really high stakes,” concludes Tolmach. “The stakes are very real; you can die in Jumanji. We knew there would be tons of comedy in the movie, but we wanted it layered within action that was visceral and exciting.”

Red Ribbon adds sweetness to the kids birthdays from Manaoag

A visit to the Our Lady of Manaoag brought an unexpected surprise to twenty youngsters as they arrived to a simple party where they received the most colorful treat: a chance to celebrate their birthday with their loved ones.

The eyes of the little ones gleamed at the sight of the blessings: a venue decorated with balloons, tables lined with the chocolate cakes, and their names carefully drawn in icing with a sweet “Happy Birthday!” greeting. For most of the youngsters, this will be their first birthday party and the first time they will be blowing out the candles of their own cake.

Coinciding with the special day of the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of Manaoag, the ‘Share a Rainbow Surprise’ was led by the Red Ribbon store team to add sweetness to the birthdays of the kids from Manaoag. The bakeshop identified those who will receive the Rainbow Dedication Cake treat, with the help of the Department of Social Welfare and Development local office and the Manaoag Church Basic Ecclesial Community.

The kids had excitement spelled on their faces as they raced to the venue and received hugs from their parents. It was the youngster’s parents, however, that was moved by the special occasion. “Hangga’t maari po sana, maibigay ko rin po iyong hindi ko naranasan sa kanya. Pangarap ko pong birthday party kay Alesha Anne iyong magkaroon po siya ng cake. Magiging masaya po ako kung matutupad itong dream birthday niya po. (It is my dream for Alesha Anne to have a cake. I would be extremely happy if we can grant this wish)” shared Eliza Corpuz.

Everyone gathered as parents and representatives from Red Ribbon sliced the chocolate cakes and went around with plates in hand. It was yet another surprise as the party attendees saw the colorful layers of chiffon underneath the chocolate coating and the rainbow-toned lollipops that topped the Rainbow Dedication Cake.

The double celebration continued with party games and dances and the birthday celebrators simultaneously blowing out their candles. It was a sight to behold as the little ones, who came lighthearted to the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of Manaoag, went home with wider smiles and a little more sweetness on their special day.
