Affordable housing na #SaktoSayo at BellaVita Homes

Unlike a lot of people, I never thought about buying my own house.

It wasn’t because of lack of ambition, but when you are working and running a household with three kids studying in private school at the same time, and a budget that barely leaves anything for savings, owning a house becomes less of a priority.

Instead you pass those dreams to your children, teaching them the value of education and getting a good job hoping they can live a more comfortable life and have a house they can call their own.

The idea of an investment never seeped in. “Luho lang ang bahay at lupa noon para sa akin. Plus my parents had a house,  same with my in-laws where we lived.  So, there was little reason to look for a house of our own. I know my reason was shallow, plus it was a good location and the only house (if we could ever afford one) was outside Metro Manila and I didn’t have enough savings to pay for monthly amortizations I was just a rank and file employee with three kids to raise.

It was only now that all my kids have families of their own, did I seriously think about getting a house. I also encouraged them to buy a house and lot for themselves even if they don’t plan living there. It’s a good investment because in case something happens, they have a fallback.

Last year,  I joined one of those "housetripping" events in Gen Trias, Cavite. It was a village called Bella Vita, and I immediately liked the place the moment I stepped inside and went on our first tour.

Last week, I returned with the same group of blogger friends to see how the place changed after a year. Back then there were just a few houses and only a handful of residents but now it has transformed into such a big community with lots of families. There are actually a lot of sari sari stores (almost in every corner) which is like those busy streets in Manila.

If you are not familiar with the property, Bella Vita is an affordable housing owned by Ayala Land Inc. It is located at the fast developing area of Gen.Trias Cavite.

Vivo partners with Qualcomm to a 5G development milestone with their ground-breaking 5G antenna technology.

Vivo today has detailed its collaboration with Qualcomm to address a critical 5G development milestone with their ground-breaking 5G antenna technology. This collaboration has resulted in the successful design and integration of new 5G mm-Wave (millimeter wave) antenna arrays into a Vivo commercial form factor as well as the measurement of system-level OTA (over-the-air) performance.

This milestone is significant as the arrival of 5G is creating major design challenges for smartphone manufacturers and network operators. To fully support the rollout of 5G services, even greater complexity and tougher requirements have been added to antenna designs and technologies.

For end users, mm-Wave technology can attain higher data rates to enable the 5G peak data rate of around 10-20 times higher than that of existing 4G LTE technology, providing a better wireless experience especially with AR, VR, AI, and UHD (ultra-high definition) video applications.

“Through this landmark cooperation between Vivo and Qualcomm, Vivo's industry leadership and innovation on 5G mm-Wave antenna design will contribute to creating optimal devices for end users,” said Dr. Huan-Chu Huang, Antenna Technical Director/ Principal Antenna Expert at Vivo.

“After this successful completion of 5G mm-Wave antenna design and measurement based on a Vivo commercial form factor, consumers will soon see the next round of new device designs offering superior performance benefits and a taste of the next generation mobile experience.”

It is expected that both 5G sub-6 GHz and mm-Wave antenna technology will be deployed in every major market around the world, with some markets by 2019 and others to follow in 2020. Beyond this collaboration, according to Dr. Huan-Chu Huang, Vivo is also proactively applying for patents and publishing international research papers on mm-Wave antenna designs to prepare for the arrival of 5G age.

This latest innovation is another example of Vivo’s dedication to break new ground and to lead in critical industry initiatives such as 5G development. “From the early days of WiGig to 5G mm-Wave today, Vivo has been focused on deep studies and solid works on mm-Wave antenna designs and technologies. This successful development of 5G mm-Wave antenna array technology for smartphones denotes a further progression of Vivo’s accumulation of industry-leading technology breakthroughs and capabilities,” said Dr. Huan-Chu Huang.

Shopee PH celebrates Beauty Week from June 21 to 27 with a storewide sale

"I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass." —Maya Angelou

What empowers you as a woman ? What would be your best answer? I guess mine as a mother would be that,  I raised my children well, knowing that they are now stable, strong  and has a family of their own, is enough for me to rest on my laurels. Now that I am alone, I get to enjoy the rest of my life traveling and do things that I dont have time before.

Shopee PH  talks about women empowerment and its impact to those around us. The event featured three different talk show sessions where the five women shared personal stories on various topics, including how the media has influenced the standards of beauty, their struggles with overcoming society’s expectations of women, and how they managed to achieve success in both their careers and personal lives.

Shopee  partners with Grab and Beauty Brands Maybelline and Palmolive to bring together 5 Women Rights advocates  in celebration of women empowerment last June 19 at Okada Grand Ballroom.

As part of Shopee’s Beauty Fair event, the women 2013 Miss World, Megan Young, actress KC Concepcion, and blogger influencers Martha Jante, Kristine Roces and Helen Payawal each shared their personal stories on how they overcame society’s beauty standards, and to encourage Filipina women to do the same.

In line with the Beauty Fair event, Shopee will also be celebrating Beauty Week from June 21 to 27. Users can expect up to 95% off the health and beauty category on top of a storewide sale, exclusive deals and bundles, P199 below collections and many more. Users can look forward to massive savings on a wide variety of items including makeup, skincare, haircare and other health and personal care items.

I enjoyed listening to the speakers especially with KC Concepcion's words of wisdom. She really had it in her. She is strong and beautiful and has a brilliant mind to speak with.

Jane Lim, Director of Shopee Philippines, said, “Shopee’s Beauty Fair is a celebration of women and their success, and we are proud to partner Maybelline and Palmolive for this event both leading beauty brands who share the same belief that women should be celebrated as they are. Beauty Fair was conceptualised as part of Shopee’s continued commitment to empowering Filipina across the country. We hope that this serves as an inspirational platform for more women to take a step towards achieving their goals.”

2013 Miss World Megan Young on empowerment and standing up for yourself

As a speaker at the event, Young shared about her journey to being crowned 2013 Miss World, and how the title has since placed her in a position to inspire young women around her.

“Joining Miss World 5 years ago really took me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to be more confident. After being crowned, I realised I was in a position where I had the power to influence young women, and I wanted to do my part to encourage them to stand up for themselves. I used to just shrug off people who say insensitive or hurtful comments, but now call them out and tell them they’re wrong, and I encourage all women to not be afraid to do the same,” shared Young.

Young’s success in her acting career is also a reflection of her commitment to empowering women, choosing only to act in powerful female roles. She currently stars in the drama,The Step Daughters, where she plays a young, fearless woman named Mayumi who changes her destiny by being tenacious and true to herself.

Maybelline’s top beauty influencers shared their stories on being confident

The brand presented top beauty influencers Martha Jante, Real Asian Beauty (Kristine Roces), and Helen on Fleek (Helen Payawal) to talk about their work as influencers and bloggers in the beauty industry. The famous influencers also shared their everyday struggles as women in their field and how they were able to overcome it with the confidence that makeup has been able to give them.

Vivo X21’s AI Scene Recognition not only identifies night, sports, vibration or back light scenarios, but it can also detect and identify 18 tags and 140 scenarios such as portraits, food and plants as it shoots. It then actively adjusts photography settings and effects to make it easy for the user to capture a great photo.

By upgrading Vivo’s photography technologies with AI, Vivo’s AI Face Beauty and AI HDR features can identify the subject’s sex, skin tone and surrounding lighting environment to create the ideal facial enhancement settings, even in a backlit environment. With AI Face Beauty learning the user’s specific preferences for beauty, it can generate custom beautification effects tailored to each user. Think of X21 as your personal make-over team packed into one intelligent device.

System level optimization enhances mobile entertainment

While gaming, the system will automatically adjust the CPU to optimize performance according to the game’s resources for a smoother gaming experience. The Game Mode on X21 even prevents accidental touch operations, ensuring gamers only make the moves they intended.
X21 continues Vivo’s Hi-Fi legacy and houses the AK4376A audio chipset.
