Snack hacks: the secret to eating well on the road
It is amazingly easy to travel these days, and so much more affordable than it used to be. You can find great hostels and camping sites online, and you can even buy plane tickets from your phone. There are even online forums where you can meet strangers to travel with if you’re looking for companionship on a long trip.
People are definitely traveling more, and every time they do, they ask one question: “anong baon natin?”
Pinoys are well-known for their love of snacking. For Pinoy travelers, packing for a trip is never complete without food for the journey, and for good reason. Packed food is easier on the budget than convenience stores and restaurants, and you’ll be able to get to your destination faster if you don’t have to stop every time someone gets hungry.
We want to share a few tips to our fellow explorers on how to eat well on go so you don’t go hungry on long trips.
Here are our fave snack hacks for packing good, satisfying snacks you can eat in the car, on a boat, or even on a plane!
Pack with portions in mind.If it’s possible, buy small, pre-packaged snacks. Super Delights Brownie Bites are a good example of this, which are available in a string of perfectly portioned packs. Each pack keeps its freshness, preserving the brownies’ fudgy, chocolatey goodness.
This technique is great for when you’re traveling with friends. Not everyone gets hungry at the same time, and nobody wants to eat stale brownies or soggy chips when someone else has opened the package.

Resealable containers are your friend. If you want to bring small portions, don’t use single-use resealable bags. They add so much trash to our roads! Instead, buy snacks in bulk and pack them in small, resealable containers.
You could also pack larger containers to share. Something like a barkada-sized portion would be fun to share on the beach or around the campfire. You can fill a large resealable box with mixed goodies to enjoy—Brownie Bites, peanuts, marshmallows, tiny pretzels.

Mind your moisture.Part of enjoyable travel is staying hydrated, so make sure you get enough water in your system. The best way to do this is to have a refillable water bottle for each person traveling with you. Either fill them with ice or fill them halfway with water and pop them in the freezer the night before your trip. Fill them the rest of the way with water and wrap them in a towel before you leave the house. That way, you have cool, clean drinking water for a few hours.
Airlines won’t let you carry water into the airport to check in, but bring your refillable bottles and refill them at drinking stations after checking in. You may also want to pack a few fruits. They’re nice and juicy and contribute to your hydration on the road.
Bring something sweet. This is especially important if you’re traveling with kids. A treat will always be welcome for children, and it’s a great way to beat back their boredom from being trapped in a car.
Sweets are also a great energy boost. Feed your designated driver some Super Delights Brownie Bites on the long stretches of roads when they need a little pick-me-up.

The search is on for the country’s most successful microentrepreneurs
If youre a microentrepreneur and believe that you have what it takes to win this year's search for Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards (CMA), its your time to shine.
The BSP honors microentrepreneurs who have overcome poverty by partnering with microfinance institutions that support the government’s financial inclusion and enterprise development initiatives.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas governor Benjamin E. Diokno and Citi Philippines chief executive officer Aftab Ahmed led the launch of the 17th CMA, with last year's winner Microentrepreneur of the Year winner Mary Grace Bayalas.
The search for the country’s most successful microentrepreneurs is on, with the launch of the annual Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards (CMA) held today at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Funded by Citi Foundation, the nationwide search is a partnership among BSP, Citi Philippines and the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI).
“The partnership with MCPI and Citi Philippines remains one of BSP’s cornerstones in stakeholder engagement for financial inclusion. The Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards, as the fruit of such remarkable partnership, serves as an important platform to convey the message that collaboration with a strong shared vision, coupled with responsive policies and reforms, can bring the best out of the Filipino people,” said Governor Diokno.
This year’s National Selection Committee is headed by Governor Diokno and Aftab Ahmed. Committee members include notable industry and community leaders such as Trade Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, SM Investments Corporation vice-chair Tessie Sy-Coson, Ayala Corporation president Fernando Zobel de Ayala, JG Summit Holdings, Inc. president and CEO Lance Y. Gokongwei, RFM Corporation president and CEO Jose Ma. A. Concepcion III, former Philippine Daily Inquirer chair Marixi Rufino-Prieto, University of the Philippines Diliman Chancellor Dr. Michael L. Tan, Samahan ng mga Pilipina para sa Reporma at Kaunlaran (SPARK!) Philippines president Imelda M. Nicolas, and MSME Development Council Mindanao private sector representative Mary Ann Montemayor.
“We are thrilled that after 17 years, the CMA continues to provide economic empowerment opportunities for microentrepreneurs, including a growing number of young people. We take pride in the fact that this initiative has helped us make a meaningful and lasting contribution on the diversity front. A sizeable percentage of the award recipients have been women and the program has empowered them and helped them improve the lives of their families and communities,” said Ahmed.
The CMA has significantly helped several microentrepreneurs. 2018 Youth Microentrepreneur of the Year winner Mary Grace Bayalas said, “My win at the 2018 CMA helped me expand my business. It was not only the cash prize that was important but also the skills and knowledge I acquired from the training that CMA provided. I also deeply value the connections I have made with fellow microentrepreneurs.”
The awards are open to microenterprises with assets less than P3 million. To be recognized are the CMA National winner, regional awardees from the three major island groups (Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao), Youth Microentrepreneur of the Year and three special awards that are open to different categories including agriculture, green/sustainable business, community leadership, startup micro-business, persons with disabilities, social innovation, financial technology/digital enterprise, and preservation of traditions.
The CMA national winner will receive P200,000 while the three regional awardees, youth awardee and special awardees will each get P100,000. Loan officers and MFI branch partners of the awardees will each get a cash incentive of P10,000. Semi-finalists will get a cash incentive of P10,000.
Deadline for submission of entries is July 19, 2019. Entries should be submitted to MCPI. Finalists will be chosen by the Country Team composed of officers of Citi Philippines, MCPI and BSP. The National Selection Committee will select the winners who will be awarded on November 26, 2019.
Aside from the prizes, CMA awardees also get access to supplementary tools that can help them grow their businesses. They will receive microinsurance coverage and a nine-day entrepreneurship training at the Citi Microenterprise Development Center, a laptop each and basic computer training. They also gain automatic membership to the CMA Alumni Network to build their market connections and to participate in a mentoring program that will help them further improve their businesses.
CMA was introduced in 2002 when Citi marked its 100th year in the Philippines and in Asia. The awards program has since been adopted as a global program and introduced in over 30 countries. In the last decade, it has honored over 100 Filipinos, many of whom have grown their businesses significantly in terms of profits and assets.

If you need a good laugh watch "Feelennial"
If youre looking for a funny movie to watch this week. You should give Feelennial movie a try. The comedy is on point. It guarantees to make you laugh until the end.

Its for you to find out. Tara. Let's give this feel good movie a try.
Feelen
nial, a portmanteau of the words “feeling” and “millennial,” describes middle-aged individuals who feel and act like millennials (those born in the 1980s to the 1990s).
It’s also the title of the new movie that brings together two of the funniest comedians in the country for the first time–AiAi Delas Alas and Bayani Agbayani.
Produced by Cignal Entertainment and DSL Productions, Feelennials is about older people trying fit in with millennials and eventually finding love through a mobile app. Directed by Rechie del Carmen. Feelennial opens on June 19 in cinemas nationwide.
First time film producer Pops Fernandez says she always liked funny and feel-good movies, that’s why she decided to do a comedy as her first venture.
Romantic comedies are always a hit among Pinoys, as local movie-goers love the combination of a good laugh and the kilig feeling they get from these light-hearted movies.
“When I was given the script, I found it so funny that I thought if I already found it funny in writing, what more if it was executed properly?”
“Ai-ai” delas Alas-Sibayan plays Madame Bato-bato, a rich single mom who has everything she needs except the attention of her only son Nico (played by Arvic Tan) and so she tries to do the activities that her son is into. Her “feelennial” activities include online dating where she meets Chito (played by Bayani Rogacion Jr., better known as Bayani Agbayani), a rich bachelor who recently won a huge sum via lotto jackpot.
They will remind are your adorable titos and titas, who stumble into one misadventure after another as they try to adopt the lifestyle of the younger generation.
Their first encounter doesn’t turn out too well, and what ensues is a flurry of mishaps and misadventures, pitting De las Alas and Agbayani into funny, yet thought-provoking situations on how romance and family dynamic has changed in today’s society.
Both Ai-Ai and Bayani said they find playing their roles in the movie a breeze as they can fully relate to their characters. With four grown-up children, Ai-Ai has always practiced the millennial vibe as she is into #ootd’s, constantly takes selfies and groufies, and regularly uploads these on her social media accounts. Bayani is also a certified “titolennial.” Married for over two decades to his wife Lenlen, he gets his inspiration from their four young millennial daughters.
Both Ai-Ai and Bayani are surrounded at work by a young group of stars and production people, whose millennial habits they have somewhat imbibed as well. These include cast members Nar Cabico as Dua, Ina Feleo as Tahoma, Nicole Donesa as Cambria, Jelai Andres as Aerial, Nicole Donesa as Cambria, Sofia delas Alas as Sophia, Skelly Skelly as Dope, Micah Muñoz as Shanty, Arvic Tan as Nico and Raffy Roque as Efril, with special participation of Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, and Paolo Ballesteros.
“At its core, [the film] is about two middle-aged people who find themselves in this world of romance in the digital age,” James C. Meneses, senior manager for content and channel marketing at Cignal TV.
Directed by one of GMA 7’s resident directors, Rechie del Carmen, Feelennial is produced by Cignal Entertainment, the original content division of the Philippine’s #1 Pay TV provider, Cignal TV, and Pops Fernandez’s DSL Productions, which marks its first venture into film production after organizing successful concerts for over 30 years.

Since 2014, PLDT, through its consumer business group PLDT Home, has been an ardent supporter of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI)’s various causes and events, especially the annual pageant.
“As a long-standing partner of BPCI, we are honoured to support the organization in its continuous efforts to empower world-class Filipinas in their pursuit of their advocacies for the benefit of many Filipinos and represent the Philippines all over the world,” Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Business Market Development Oscar Enrico Reyes, Jr. said.

To kick off the activities, the 40 candidates were invited for a courtesy visit to the telco giant’s headquarters where they got a chance to meet with PLDT executives and employees. During the event, the ladies were given a platform to talk about advocacies close to their hearts including women empowerment, mental health, education, sustainable tourism, health and environment, and HIV awareness.
PLDT also supported the traditional grand parade, which was held around Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City. The fiesta-themed event gave fans and pageant aficionados an opportunity to see their favorite binibinis up close, as the ladies showcased the country’s rich cultural heritage in their outfits.

The Ultimate Guide for your Father's Day Treats
Whether he’s dad, tatay, papa, or itay to you, many fathers share one thing in common—a love expressed in actions more than in words. Since most dads are not very vocal with their feelings, it's also a challenge to find ways to show them in turn how much you appreciate their love and care.
This Father’s Day, here are simple ways to express gratitude and show how much you appreciate dad’s unique kind of love with the help of PayMaya.
1. Give him a week’s worth of hassle-free rides
The daily commute to work can be very tiring, especially for dads who have been doing it for more years than you can count. Spare him this weekday struggle by giving him hassle-free rides to and from work for a week.
You can do this by directly purchasing Grab vouchers through the PayMaya Shop. All you have to do is log into your PayMaya app, go to the Shop tab, choose between the GrabCar P100 or P200 e-voucher, and send it to your dad using your preferred messaging app.
2. Send him some "allowance" for a special gift
Remember all those times your dad secretly gave you some extra baon when your mom wouldn’t budge? Now is your time to give back! Send dad some "allowance" and let him splurge on himself for a change!
Make him feel loved 3,000 times over by sending him at least P3,000 using your PayMaya. All that’s left to do is to include a note saying "I love you 3,000"—your dad’s inner Avengers fanboy will surely melt at that!
Do this from June 14 until June 30, 2019 and you’ll get a one-time reward of P150. See? Showing dad some love has its extra perks, too!
3. Get him a much-needed shopping spree
A lot of dads get the "kuripot" tag, probably because they refuse to get rid of a worn-out belt or a shirt they've had since a decade ago. Father’s Day is a great excuse to treat your dad to a shopping spree and give him a much-needed wardrobe makeover!
Use your PayMaya physical card or #ScanToPay using PayMaya QR when you purchase items in department stores like Robinsons Department Store or The SM Store. You can also shop online and buy wardrobe must-haves on Zalora or Lazada.
Get more bang for your buck when you use your PayMaya! Spend an accumulated P3,000 using your PayMaya physical card or virtual card from June 12 until June 18, 2019, and you’ll get a P300 cashback. (Then get yourself a little something, too!)
4. Treat him (and the whole fam) to a delicious Father’s Day meal
Sharing a meal with the whole family is already a gift in itself. So make sure that you and your siblings take time off work for a delicious dinner with your dad this Father’s Day.
Enjoy a hearty buffet meal in PayMaya partner merchants like Niu by Vikings, and #ScanToPay for your meal to get up to 100% cashback!
You can also send dad something extra to enjoy at home by purchasing a food voucher from PayMaya Treats found inside the PayMaya Shop which your dad and the rest of your family can redeem at any participating branch nationwide.
Know where you can make the most out of your money and find the full list of PayMaya’s partner merchants by visiting http://pymy.co/QRMerchants.
5. Take care of this month’s bills
Fathers take pride in being the provider for the family but helping him out once in a while will definitely put a smile on his face. Surprise your dad by paying for all your bills this month.
Take care of your bills in the most convenient way possible when you use your PayMaya app. You can do it in the comforts of your own home or your office, and even get up to P500 cashback when you pay for two or more bills, worth at least P1,000 each.
With most dads, it’s true that there’s no need for extravagance. They’ll surely appreciate the gesture no matter how simple it is. So while you honor your dad this Father’s Day with a meaningful celebration, let PayMaya give you rewards and discounts as well (just because you're awesome!).

Angkas ready for its pilot run complete with reflectorized vests and biker's unique ID number
If you live in Manila, you know how bad traffic is everyday. Ride-hailing apps such as Angkas can improve traffic, save money, and help the environment. Not to mention that it gets you faster to your destination.
Yesterday, was the worst traffic we encountered from Cubao going to EDSA. Even if we (my partner) used the Waze app. There was no way to get us out of bumper to bumper traffic via rerouting. Traffic is everywhere from Tomas Morato/ GMA area. We left QC at 12:30PM hoping that we would be on time for our "2PM" event. But we arrived late in Makati at 3:30 pm. Usually, it would always take us 2 hrs going from QC to Makati. I am now considering Angkas to be the next option to commute aside from other ride-hailing apps out there.
As Angkas explore ways to make transportation systems as efficient and reliable as possible, they have re-trained their 27,000 biker-partners to ensure safety for both bikers and riders. They have additional safety measures in place in collaboration with the Department of Transportation - Philippines.
Angkas, the country's first app-based motorcycle ride-hailing service, is ready for its government-sanctioned six-month pilot run in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu with additional safety measures in place.
In a press conference held yesterday, Angkas Head of Regulatory and Public Affairs George Royeca said that they are retraining their current biker-partners in preparation for the pilot run and in compliance with the directive and recommendations of the Technical Working Group (TWG) created by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to study the feasibility of motorcycle taxis.
“The safety of the riding public has always been Angkas’ advocacy. All our biker-partners go through rigorous riding skills assessments, written tests, and extensive safety training to ensure they meet very high safety standards. We fail over 70% of applicants to make sure that only the most capable bikers ferry passengers for Angkas,” Royeca said.
For his part, Angkas Operations Head David Medrana revealed, “For the pilot run, Angkas is introducing special reflectorized vests with side straps that help bikers become more visible at night and aid passengers in holding on to the biker’s waist. Each vest also has the biker’s unique ID number, ensuring that only officially-registered bikers can take bookings.”
Medrana also said that, as before, all Angkas biker-partners and their passengers are insured for every ride.
“We also have a feedback mechanism in our app to closely monitor the performance of all our biker-partners and address any concerns immediately,” Medrana noted. "Hopefully, after the six-month pilot-run, the law to regulate motorcycle taxis can already be passed," he added.
Angkas has been an advocate for biker education and training since the service’s inception. Testament to their strict safety guidelines, Angkas officials have trained more than 100,000 motorcycle bikers to date but have accredited only 27,000 biker-partners because of their stringent standards. This has resulted in a current safety record of 99.997%.
In a previous statement, Royeca declared, “I am grateful that the DOTr saw the merits of Angkas’ safety record and we are happy to be working with them to ensure motorcycle taxis are safe.”
Jobert Bolaños of the Motorcycle Rights Organization declared, “The pilot run is the fruit of the long hours spent by the members of the TWG: Angkas, the DOTr, the LTFRB, the Highway Patrol Group, the MMDA, and all the hardworking commuter groups, transport advocates, and members of the academe. We’ve spent a long time working to figure out how to come up with a motorcycle taxi service that's not only fast and accessible, but also satisfies the safety requirements of the regulatory agencies as well.”
