English pop duo Swing Out Sister, composed of Corinne Drewery and Andy Connell, is heading back to the Philippines for their 2020 Philippine Tour with special guest Sybil. Dates are April 16 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, April 17 at the SMX Convention Center in Davao, and April 19 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.

The much loved 1980s duo began to dominate the music industry with their sophisticated dance-pop-jazz genre in the autumn of 1986, following the release of their biggest hit to date, Breakout. The irresistible upbeat single lived up to its name as it became an international chart sensation not only in the United Kingdom and the US but in many markets worldwide including the Philippines.

Swing Out Sister became part of the defining sound of British pop in the late 1980s and one of the most successful pop bands around the globe with their multiple hit songs such as Where In The World, Fooled By A Smile, You On My Mind, Twilight World, Waiting Game, Forever Blue, Am I the Same Girl, The Windmills Of Your Mind, La La Means I Love You, Love Won’t Let You Down, and Precious Words.

Special guest is Sybil whose many hits include Make It Easy On Me, Don’t Make Me Over, Walk On By, It’s Too Late, The Love I Lost, I Wanna Be Where You are, Lovely Day.

Sybil, on the other hand, is an American R&B and pop singer-songwriter. She gained notable success in her career with songs during the mid-1980s into the mid-1990s. She achieved worldwide crossover hits with her cover versions of Dionne Warwick’S hits Don’t Make Me Over, and Walk On By which were released in 1989 and 1990, respectively.

Swing Out Sister 2020 Philippine Tour with Sybil is presented by Ovation Productions in cooperation with TAP Go: Stream Sports Anywhere!

Experience Dunkin' upgraded 360 design and enjoy great tasting coffee and donuts

I am now in love with Dunkin modern interior design- with wooden furniture, contemporary lighting finished  with its signature orange and magenta design. I love that they always have a nice, comfy little corner to finish your coffee and donut, read a book, and just chill while waiting for someone. You should check out  Dunkin in Mindanao Avenue or just recently the one in Aurora, also in QC.

Dunkin Ambassadors Piolo Pascual, Derek Ramsay together with Dingdong Dantes graces the newly renovated Dunkin’ Aurora, Quezon City branch.  With its upgraded 360 design, its ready to put you in a wonderful mood.

Go ahead and experience its upgraded 360 design and enjoy great tasting coffee and donuts.

As soon as you arrive at the store, you’ll see the first upgrade-the new Dunkin’ logo following the global rebranding. After being in operation for years, it seems like the time is right for patrons to call their beloved brand by its nickname.

Once you enter the outlet, its 360-design comes to life holistically-meaning anywhere you look in the store is upgraded. All elements are also aligned with the Dunkin’ Proud design strategy, encouraging both Dunkin’ patrons and discoverers to experience and celebrate the brand that has been serving them in the Philippines for almost 40 years.

For one, the outlet banners its signature orange and magenta, brought to life by artworks, one of which even bears local elements such as a tarsier, a jeepney, a pawikan and the Mayan Volcano.

It’s clear that the comfort and convenience of customers were considered in the redesign. There is a community table that encourages sharing and interaction. This table also has provision for power supply, to make it more convenient for students and businessmen who frequent the outlet.

For senior citizens and PWD customers who love their Dunkin’ coffee, couches were placed on the sides to give them their own space to relax. For those who just want to grab and go, a dedicated take-out counter is now available.

The warm white lights, plus cozy café-style tables and chairs make it even more enjoyable to have your favorite world-famous Dunkin’ coffee and donuts. The only thing you’ll stress about is whether you'll get a Butternut or Choco Butternut donut-to which the easy solution is to have both.

Spreading the spirit of optimism is always the goal of any Dunkin‘ store and it doesn’t stop there. To make it a year of good vibes, here's an offer for the first month that will fill you with happiness: the Dunkin' Sari-Sari Bucket.

Get one bucket filled with 10 Choco Bang, 16 Premium Munchkins,
and 12 Dunkin’ Van for only P299.

This offer is available in all Dunkin' outlets until January 31, 2020. The newly redesigned Dunkin’ outlet is located in 733 Aurora Boulevard Corner Balete Drive, New Manila, Quezon City

The UP BS Interior Design Class of 2020 presents the newly renovated Kalinga Day Care Center

UP BS Interior Design Class of 2020 joined by the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (UPCWGS) and the UP CWS Foundation, Inc. (UPCWSFI) officers led by Atty Gabbie Concepcion  for the ribbon cutting of the Kalinga Day Care Center held at UP Diliman , QC last January 10.

The Kalinga Day Care Center is a special project of the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (UPCWGS) and the UP CWS Foundation, Inc. (UPCWSFI). It was designed by UP BS Interior Design Class of 2020. They get their inspiration and design from treehouses. It took them 6 months to conceptualize and finally execute the inspired design to Kalinga Day Care Center. interiors.

Its a non-formal , non structured alternative learning environment meant to provide a safe comfortable environment for children ages 1.6 to 5.5 years old. This is open to children of UP employees and students, with a few slots offered to non-UP constituents.

The Kalinga Day Care Center (KDCC) started as a special project of the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (UPCWGS). formerly called UP Center for Women’s Studies (UP CWS), and the UP CWS Foundation, Inc. (UPCWSFI). It was conceived in response to the result of a UPCWS commissioned I995 feasibility study on support system for working mothers in UP Diliman through the establishment of a daycare facility in campus.

Among others, the result showed that there is the need for employees for such childcare services with learning activities open on weekdays from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and that the services would include “parents’ education that promote gender fair childrearing and humanist/nationalist value inculcation.”

The KDCC as a non-formal, non-structured learning environment focuses on the positive self-image and love of learning. it has a “play-centered and homelike environment” that engages children in “gender-fair and appropriate learning activities” to ensure “holistic development and self-directed learning.” It also networks with various colleges and student organizations for special activities and programs. Furthermore, parents, guardians and caregivers or yayas are regularly provided with gender responsive seminars on childhood care and development, laws, and other women’s/gender related issues.

Mia The Movie: Blackouts and Bru

In #MiaTheMovie,

*
Magaling si Coleen sa paganap niya bilang si Mia and parang mas maganda siya kapag bare face lang and no heavy make up.

*

Insight 360 Films will hold the first “National Mia Day” on January 13 at the Cinema 1 of SM Megamall in honor of women whose name is similar to the main protagonist of the most-awaited romantic comedy film “Mia.”

The special event, which will be held simultaneously with the advanced screening of the film “Mia,” has already create massive buzz on various social media platforms—attracting thousands of inquiries from curious netizens all over the country.

“The moment we posted the trailer of ‘Mia’ on Facebook and Youtube, we’ve noticed so many people tagging their friends and relatives named Mia. It gave us an idea to celebrate the National Mia Day two days prior to our movie’s theatrical release on January 15,” explained executive producer and Insight 360 Films president Chris Cahilig.

“So far we’ve received thousands of messages from women named Mia from all walks of life asking how they can participate in the event,” he added.

But with or without a free pass, legions of netizens are raring to go and watch award-winning director Veronica Velasco’s “Mia” after viewing its beautifully crafted trailer, which has garnered, to date, close to 10 million views.

One netizen posted: “There have been a lot of ‘hugot’ films since 2018, but one thing is sure about this one—the trailer makes you curious about the situation of Mia.”

“Trailer pa lang ang ganda na. Paano pa kaya ang buong pelikula. Gusto kong manood . . . Mia,” another remarked.

Indeed, the trailer gave local movie fans a glimpse of the strong chemistry between Mia the doctor and EA the forester, with Coleen’s classic raw beauty complementing EA’s charmingly boyish looks. It doesn’t hurt, either, that both of them display considerable acting chops.

Many commenters excitedly revealed their plans about watching “Mia”. One gushed, “Omg! I feel this movie. Panonoorin kita kahit mag-isa ako!” while another suggested that watching “Mia” will be a perfect pre-Valentine’s date.

Some netizens shared that they would save up for the film, while one declared, “This movie will be my birthday gift for myself; I can’t wait!”

A compelling story about finding love, healing, and hope, “Mia” was directed by Velasco and produced by Insight 360 in partnership with Viva Films.

The film depicts the story of Mia, portrayed by Coleen Garcia, a doctor who turned self-destructive alcoholic after her fiancé’s tragic death, and Jay, played by Edgar Allan Guzman, a forester and environmental advocate who transforms mined-out lands into rainforests. The promise of love and healing comes when Jay decides to pursue the heartbroken Mia.

Other cast members of “Mia” include well-known actors William Martinez, Yayo Aguila, Billy Crawford, Star Orjaliza, Jeremy Domingo, Sunshine Teodoro, Pau Benitez and Xenia Barrameda.

Co-written by Velasco and Jinky Laurel, the film is a refreshing take on the usual romantic-comedy and “hugot” films, shining a light on relevant concepts such as grief, self-love, and acceptance.

As the first Filipino film of the new decade, local movie buffs believe that “Mia” will exceed expectations and make its mark among the best of Filipino romantic-comedy flicks.

“Mia” will show on cinemas nationwide on January 15.
