Carousell Frees You From Your Exes’ Baggage

Filipinos are taking advantage of the growing online marketplace to sell their pre-loved items. But did you know that 9 out of 10 Filipinos are willing to let go of their exes’ gifts? They’ve got hugot; and have been posting their items on Carousell to let go of the past.

In a recent in-app survey conducted with about 500 respondents, leading online classifieds marketplace Carousell revealed that 90% are willing to let go of things that belonged to their ex. This is an increase of 30% from a similar survey done in 2017.

These people who sell their exes’ items on Carousell have hugot in their lives. When looking at gifts from an ex, it’s important to ask the most famous hugot line from Claudine Barretto in her film Milan (2004) “Mahal mo ba ako dahil kailangan mo ako, o kailangan mo ako kaya mahal mo ako?”

Selling these items on Carousell not only freeing themselves from their exes’ baggage but they are also making money out of it. Whether these items remind you of your past-relationship, past-job or even past-self, Carousell is the quick solution for you to let go of these items. These are some of the highlights from the data gathered by Carousell:

6/10 respondents said they relate to hugots (emphasis) especially in their love life

Why are hugots so popular?

- 47% said it makes them laugh

- 37% said it helps them express their feelings

- 7% said it helps to release their bitterness

What do you do with your exes’ stuff?

-  9/10 people are willing to let go of the things that belonged to their ex

These are the reasons why people are willing to let go of their exes’ gifts

- 40% said they want to let go of the past

- 32% said they want to declutter

- 14% said they want to earn extra cash

Top 5 gifts from exes’ people are willing to let go

1. Clothes

2. Stuffed Toys

3. Luxury items

4. Gadgets

5. Perfume

New possibilities can be made with that item that was once a reminder of heartbreak, could mean a new opportunity for someone else on Carousell.

It’s truly a February to remember as PWR announces three huge events for the month!

After a chaotic ending to last month’s show, Mabuhay Ang Wrestling, Philippine Wrestling Revolution (PWR) dropped a bombshell of an announcement with a three-event showcase this February. For the first time ever, fans can get to experience the finest of local sports entertainment with a bevy of shows—each with their own special twist.

Love at First Fight

The Mr. Sy Group of Talents (MSG) has run roughshod over PWR and finally fulfilled its promise of #MSGAllBelts. This has not sat well with the Filipino pro wrestling circle and this feeling has made it all the way to Australia! New Japan Pro Wrestling’s “Sniper of the Skies”, Robbie Eagles, has made his presence known and has challenged the devil incarnate, Chris Panzer, for the title of Kampeon ng Pilipinas! Will the highly-touted Fil-Aussie be enough to overthrow the reign of MSG? Catch PWR’s signature monthly event featuring hard-hitting action and instant classics on February 23, 2 PM at the Power Mac Center Spotlight, Circuit Makati!

Rakrakan Festival

HUAWEI MEDIAPAD T3 8” 2020: UNBOXING AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS

This is one of those rare times that I do gadget reviews so forgive me if I don’t sound as techie as those other tech reviewers.

I still remember my very first tablet, it was a Google Nexus which I had in 2014. Back then it was the most advanced piece of technology I had, and was way better and smarter than the phone I was using.

It was my partner who actually convinced me to get a tablet, because he knew that I loved reading books and so he introduced me to ebooks.

Instead of having to go to the bookstore for my monthly book raids, he created an entire library of best-selling books on that tablet. He also made sure that I had access to the latest magazines, so I wouldn’t get frustrated if I couldn’t buy a copy.

When it comes to reading e-books or watching videos I still prefer using a Tablet
I brought that tablet with me everywhere and used it for more than three years until the charging port was damaged and the repair center told me they would need to replace the entire board—which was going to cost almost the same as getting a new tablet.

So even if smartphones have gotten larger displays, I still prefer to read my ebooks and e-magazines and even watch movies on my tablet. Do you know who else prefers to borrow my tablet than my phone? My 3-year-old granddaughter French.

Personally, I think that tablets now appeal more to older people like me (who have bad eyesight) and younger children who prefer to watch videos on a larger screen.

I was quite excited to try out the MediaPad T3 8” --the latest tablet from Huawei which is ideal for those who don’t want to squint their eyes when reading those web articles, browsing their social media feeds or when looking at those photos sent via messenger or email.

UNBOXING
The MediaPad T3 8” comes in a light blue cardboard box, which shows a photo of the tablet, some product information on the bottom and a list of features on the box.

Open the box you’ll find the Huawei MediaPad T3 8, I got the Space Grey color with 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM. The package also includes a wall charger, micro USB data /charging cable, sim card ejector tool as well as the quick start guide and warranty card.

The box contains a charger and sim ejector tool

The package is pretty standard, although I wished they included either a case or maybe a screen protector since it’s a bit hard to find those.
Wall Charger with Micro USB cable

Warranty Card Quickstart guide and sim ejector tool

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
As its name suggests, the Huawei MediaPad T3 8” has an 8-inch IPS HD display with a resolution of 1280 x800(HD). I think 8 inches is just the right screen size as 10 inch is a bit too big and 7 is almost the same size as some other phablets. The high resolution display is suitable for binge watching the latest movies or series on NetFlix, and in my case watching the latest episodes of Raffy Tulfo in Action on YouTube. Watching it on the large screen of the Mediapad T3 will really give you the “Tulfo and Chill” feeling.

I love the size of the screen! perfect for "Tulfo and Chill" afternoons!

The MediaPad T3 8 also supports smart eye protection modes that are certified by TÜV Rheinland. The blue-light filter and low-light display modes make sure that you don’t tire your eyes quickly.

As for the build and design, the Mediapad T3 has an anodized aluminum body and weighs only 350g making it very easy to carry around in my bag.

Exploring the device, there’s a 5MP camera with auto focus on the back as well as the Huawei branding.

On the right you can find the simcard tray, power button and volume rocker

The camera is decent, but don’t expect it to be on the level of current smartphone cameras.  On the side you’ll find the power button, volume rocker and sim card slot. Yes.  You can even use it as a phone.

On the bottom you’ll find a speaker and the charging port.
The charging port and microphone is on the bottom

Lastly, it has a 2 MP front camera for those video calls.
There's a 5MP camera on the back for those quick snaps

So far, I wasn’t disappointed by the performance of the MediaPad T3 8” According to the specs it has a 1.4GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor Adreno 308 GPU coupled with 2GB RAM, which is enough for my daily use. I’m just a light user and  like I said I usually just read books and watch videos on my tablet.

Good thing it has a 4,800 mAh battery, that keeps it going for hours of use without the need to recharge it in the middle of a movie.
The earpiece /speaker

Lastly, the Huawei MediPad T3 8” has this Smart app access and content control that allows you to let others use your device in a way that gives you full control. I will try to check it out and include my thoughts in the full review.

That’s it for now, as I’m still trying out and testing the other features of this really versatile tablet.

The MediaPad T3 8” retails for PHP 6,490 and is now available at any Huawei retail stores nationwide.

Huawei MediaPad T3 8-inch specs:

  • 8-inch HD IPS Display (1280x 800, 189 ppi)

Celebrate Love in All Forms on TikTok

February is known as the month of love! As this season rolls in, people around the world get creative with how they express love towards those who matter in their lives. While it is best known as a time to celebrate romantic love, after all, Valentine’s Day happens right in the middle of the month, February is as good a time as any to express love in all forms.

Are you ready to show the world how much you care for someone or something? Why don’t you try doing it online through TikTok? You might just be surprised at how much love there is going around in this popular app. Here are some of our favorites.

Fur Baby Love

Ask any pet owner to talk about their fur babies, and they’re almost always sure to start gushing about how much they love their pets. It’s not unusual to see pet-lovers post about their kitties and pooches online, too, and TikTok is no exception. Take @ardelpresent for instance, whose adorable pet dogs regularly make an appearance in his videos.

BFF Love

Best friends tend to do everything together, so it isn’t surprising when they show up in one another’s TikTok videos. Creating posts together is not just a lot of fun, but it can also be a great way to show appreciation for your BFF and constant. One pair of besties that you’re sure to love on TikTok is @fa_shainebuhat and @chriannn. While it’s entertaining to watch their individual posts, the best ones are really those that the girls record together.

Love for the Environment

TikTok can be a great way to speak out on issues that you are passionate about. You can get as creative as you can be, in order to get people to pay attention to topics that matter, such as human rights, equality and freedom of expression. One issue that has become increasingly pressing over the last few years is the state of our environment, and how we care for our planet. It is important for us to give value to the Earth after all it is our home. Many users have started posting about their love for the environment on TiktTok, just like this post by @cedricksblanco.

Love for the Arts

Did you know that February is also National Arts Month in the Philippines? This has been celebrated since the early 1990’s, and aims to honor our national artists in various fields such as cinema, music, architecture, literary arts, and visual arts. It’s a great time for those with a love for art to showcase their talents, both in the real world and online. There are a number of users you can check out and follow on TikTok, too, if you have a love for the arts. One great option is @shy_ane.

Realme Philippines claims the fourth spot in the list of the top smartphone vendors in Q4 2019

After just a year of operations, realme Philippines climbs to the fourth spot of the top smartphone brands in the country in Q4 2019, according to leading global market analyst firm Canalys. realme Philippines grew its year-on-year sell-in shipment by a staggering 709 percent, the fastest of any smartphone brand, making it claim nine percent of the country’s total unit shares. The same global study showed that the Philippines witnessed a growth of 28 percent in total smartphone shipments in the same quarter.

In 2019,realme Philippines has established a strong presence in the market with the launch of six new devices positioned strategically across different price segments. The clear understanding of the market’s demand for real value has ushered in record-breaking sales both in online and offline channels and critical accolades for the brand and its devices.

Propelling the brand’s market value are its highly engaging products realme 3 series, realme C series, the recent quad-camera realme 5 series and the realme XT. realme Philippines’ record-breaking feat can also be attributed to the wide array of partnerships it has sealed in the previous year, such as those with SM Supermalls, Home Credit and Qualcomm. Cementing its stake in the local mobile gaming industry is its strong partnership with Mobile Legends Developer Moonton.

realme Philippines also grew vigorously offline and online, strengthening its presence in Shopee and Lazada. The fastest growing smartphone brand also grew the number of its distributors, resellers and brick-and-mortar stores in 2019. The brand currently has 4,500 partner stores, 280 kiosks and 24 concept stores nationwide.

Realme Philippines is determined to keep the growth momentum strong by keeping the same brand DNA in its products and promotional approach. The brand is also keen to further expand reach with its growing Artificial Internet of Things (AIoT) product line, which includes the realme Wireless Buds, realme Powerbank, realme Buds Air and more.

Additionally, realme Philippines has shown intention to propel the growing demand for 5G by offering its very competitive 5G smartphone lineup in the Philippines. The brand is now in close coordination with local telecom operators to ensure the compatibility of its devices. Once the local 5G landscape and infrastructure are ready, Filipinos can expect the most attainable 5G smartphones to come from realme.

“We are much delighted to share this news to the realme community as this would not be possible without their constant support and loyalty to the brand. We are thankful for the support and patronage we are receiving. 2020 will be the year that we grow further with more competitive smartphones, AIoT, and 5G inclusion. Expect that we shall leap to greater heights with more Filipinos ready to enjoy the real value and the latest technology,” shares realme Philippines Marketing Director Austine Huang.

Kathryn joins love team partner Daniel Padilla as part of the Pepsi family

If there is one love team that I have been following since day one. Its #kathniel..I love how they interact with their fans and have been following them on social media. That's why I was just as excited as everyone else's when I got an invite to attend to Kathryn's launch as one of Pepsi endorsers. This was by far the happiest launch that I have been to.

“Handa na akong #SundinAngPuso ko”, said actress and box office queen Kathryn Bernardo.

Unveiled as the newest endorser of Pepsi Philippines, Kathryn joined her longtime love team partner, Daniel Padilla, among others, as part of the Pepsi family.

“Something that Daniel and I share is the belief that we should follow our hearts and do the things we love. Just go for it 100%! That’s why this year, I really told myself I’m going to go all-in,” she said. “I’m thrilled to join Daniel in encouraging people to do the same, as part of the Pepsi family,” Kathryn shared, as she was introduced at the recent Pepsi Taste Challenge held at TriNoma mall.

The event also featured different Pepsi influencers and endorsers like Daniel Padilla, Mimiyuuuh, JinHo Bae, Pamela Swing, Alyssa Valdez, Kiefer Ravena, and Ricci Rivero. Various fun and interactive activities such as Pepsi-oke, a live vlogging challenge, and a digital roulette and extraordinary performances from inspiring local artists including Matthaios, Autotelic, and SB19 entertained the audience.

The Pepsi Taste Challenge celebrates Filipinos’ love for cola and dares them to challenge their preconceptions through a taste test in different cities around the Philippines, to find out whether people prefer the refreshing bold taste of Pepsi vs another cola brand. The event will also take place in Cebu and in Davao - two of the most bustling areas in the country.

“Kathryn embodies a refreshing personality which Pepsi represents,'' said Gutzee Segura, Marketing Manager of Pepsi Philippines. “Like Pepsi, she has always been a crowd favorite. As a matter of fact, during our Pepsi Taste Challenge held in different countries around the world such as UK, France, Italy, and Australia, among others, most of the people picked Pepsi over other cola brands.”

“Apart from these though, Kathryn’s amazing dedication to her craft serves as an inspiration to countless fans”, Gutzee shared. “With her passion and her knack for following her heart, she really personifies what Pepsi stands for,” she added.

#SundinAngPuso and put your cola taste to a test, with live performances from local artists at the upcoming Pepsi Taste Test Challenge events: SM Seaside Cebu on February 22, 2020 and SM Lanang Premiere Davao on March 7, 2020.
