Lesha launches her second track, Karma

In a cutthroat industry such as music and entertainment, newbies can experience some sort of possession by monopolizing forces. Sadly, it’s an unfortunate situation to be in.  Its either you give in, or you break free.  You always have a choice on how to steer your path to achieve your end goal.  The hard truth is that there’s always the Law of Karma coming right at you. Thus, everything you do comes back to you, whether it’s good or bad. 

 

For electropop singer and now independent singer Lesha, Karma is more than just a word that you utter daily. But rather, she wants to impart a whole new meaning to the term through a song. This has become a way to defy the norms, break out from the lousy system and share her story no holds barred. Lesha is making it loud and strong statement with her newly launched second single, KARMA. Her latest track included in her .

In “KARMA”, Lesha speaks her truth of having to deal with people in the past for only seeing her value when they are able to take advantage of her. She expresses how her past experiences and learnings molded her into the artist and person she is today which serves as her motivation to continue working smarter and harder because she believes that success is her best revenge. 

Likewise, Lesha once again is collaborating with her Co-Producers friends from all over the globe generously supporting her through this track. Although Lesha produced and recorded her demo for KARMA in her own bedroom,  she decided to send in the song to her collaborator/co-producer from South Korea, REBENN, and he took the lead from there. Another friend Nephibis, a rapper from Baltimore USA, who Lesha previously collaborated with on a track for the Netflix Film: Project Power and was also cool to jump in for a verse. And the rest, as they say is history.

Expect this new song to be a revolutionary anthem for listeners going through the same predicament as Lesha on being an independent singer, songwriter, and producer of her own music fighting the injustice of the system that she went through. “I made sure to make this song relatable to whatever situation a person is going through in life and I feel like I’ve hit a jackpot with KARMA,” she shares.

You’re underrated baby, know you’ll make it far 

Lesha says: This line was inspired by my YouTube’s comment section and twitter mentions. When people would watch or listen to my music on YouTube or tweet about me, they’d always write something cool about me then go “....she’s super underrated though and I don’t know why”. I guess I’m just aware of how much passion, time, money, effort, and love I put into all my projects for it to not get the attention I believe it deserves, and how many times I’d get an opportunity where one of my videos would go viral, but none of them actually translated to make me cut through as an artist here in the Philippines. Through the years, I’ve shown my audience that an artist that can make it in the industry without being backed up by the big machinery. I’ve had so many people take advantage of me in the past, but that doesn’t stop me.”

Lesha says: The line also talks about how unfair the industry can be. When an artist goes viral, that’s the only time they will invest and build them which is probably also why there are so many talented artists out there who are unseen for their work because they were never given the platform or stage they deserve all because of how the system works. With this, I came up a decision to make the bold move of going fully independent again and teaming up with a new team for my music distribution, because I felt it was the right thing to do.

Lesha says: This line is basically a warning that you have to be prepared before getting into the industry (in my case, the music industry) cause it’s tough, there’ll be people who’ll doubt you and your capabilities, people who plan to take advantage of you, or people who are just there because they need to use you. I’ve been belittled, used, and manipulated being in the industry for a while now and I think it’s something people have to be aware of that it’s not all just fun and games.


Lesha is unstoppable in reaching her goals. There’s more to look forward to the next coming days, so watch out for a stronger and more vocal Lesha who isn’t fearless to pursue what she wants. “I can say KARMA is a very “Lesha” song in a sense that people can tell because of the messaging, the visual aesthetic, and the overall vibe of the track which is the complete opposite from my first release, SUN MOON RISING. This is something people should expect from the next releases in the album because each release has its own flavor or side people haven’t seen or heard from Lesha yet.”

The Versailles Town Plaza: Ready for malling in the next normal

When was the last time you've been to a mall to actually enjoy shopping? Before the pandemic the best part of shopping was the hands-on experience. Spending an hour trying on clothes at the fitting room. Trying the new lipstick shades at the make up counter and spritzing perfume. 


Malls may have been deemed as essential, but their operations have been hampered when the pandemic’s community quarantines came into effect. 


As a place where Filipinos liked to leisurely gather and cool off with air-conditioning, the current mall designs do not exactly fit the protocols connected with the pandemic. Movements inside the malls have been limited, and even favorite leisure activities such as dining at restaurant outlets have been restricted to accommodate a few customers at a time.

The Versailles Town Plaza, which just had its ground-breaking ceremony last September 17, takes all of these considerations into account into its design. The roof terrace level will have an events venue, that will also be managed by the developer whose palatial Versailles Clubhouse has been a popular venue for many milestone celebrations. “Versailles Town Plaza will bet the place that people nearby will think first when they want to dine-out, to eat good food, to buy something or just looking for a place to relax,” she adds.

Cebu Pacific clears all refund cases lodged at Civil Aeronautics Board

Cebu Pacific (CEB) has cleared all the refund complaints that were filed at the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) as the country’s leading airline continued to prioritize its customers by overhauling its systems and augmenting its refund-dedicated workforce to continually process requests.  

As of August, the airline had cleared cases totaling 2,842 that were filed at the CAB since 2020, as Cebu Pacific worked alongside the regulator to resolve complaints after the pandemic upended the travel industry.

Passenger needs remained a top concern for Cebu Pacific which was determined to refund all its customers. As of September 2021, the airline has refunded a total of PHP 8.18 billion.

Cebu Pacific issued PHP 479 million in refunds to customers in the July-September period. Previously, the airline earlier announced that it had refunded its passengers P7.7 billion for requests filed from January 2020 until June 2021.   


As of August, the airline had verified cases totaling 2,842, and discussed with CAB the resolution of these complaints. This is a positive development directly benefiting affected passengers after the Coronavirus pandemic grounded air travel. This shows that CAB and CEB, by working together, prioritized passenger concerns at the most crucial time,” Atty. Wyrlou Samodio, Head of CAB Legal and Enforcement Division.   

Guests with completed refunds have been updated, through the email address provided upon booking, and were asked to check with their issuing banks and travel agencies for the remittance.    

“We thank CAB for its efforts to verify records, so we can close the refund cases. CEB closely worked with CAB to resolve refund complaints, and we are grateful to our teams for delivering on this important undertaking for our customers,” said Candice Iyog, Vice President for Marketing and Customer Experience at Cebu Pacific.  

“We also thank our guests for their patience and understanding. We will remain transparent and continue to listen and improve our processes to deliver the best experience for everyJuan.”

Global fashion retailer SHEIN is ringing in its 13th birthday with an all-out anniversary sale running from October 4 – 10, 2021. With up to 80% off on selected designs, the SHEIN anniversary sale will also include collections by 5 Filipino designers who were part of SHEIN X, the brand’s global design incubator program launched earlier this year.

SHEIN is proud to announce the five new Filipino designers: Candle Ray, Abimer, Raya Aleczandra, Kimble Quinto, and Pamela Madlangbayan.

A closer look at every collection

Candle Ray stands for functional clothing that combines precision and strength with subtle sensibility. The SHEIN X Candle Ray collection offers men's and women's clothing that takes inspiration from architectural geometry that suggests power and authority. SHEIN X Candle Ray was launched in August 2021.

 

Filipino fashion designer Abimer is known for her sexy yet sophisticated pieces. Her designs in the SHEIN X Abimer collection launched in September are inspired by Victorian lingerie and infused with modern techniques to showcase every woman's best assets.

 

Raya Aleczandra knew from a young age that she wanted to be in the fashion industry. Launched in September, the SHEIN X Raya collection showcases her distinct artistry in her womenswear with a range of designs that reflect her ongoing creative journey.

Kimble Quinto's curiosity and fascination with garments led her to pursue international studies in fashion.Her brand, KIMBLE, is about the representation of empowerment through a woman's clothing. The SHEIN X KIMBLE collection, scheduled to debut on the SHEIN app and website in October, showcases a play on textures through different manipulations and a mix of elegant silhouettes.

Pamela Madlangbayan began designing clothing to channel the collective experiences of mental struggle during the pandemic into something artistic and empowering. The pieces in the SHEIN X Pamela collection take influence from musical artists to create fun, fearless, and fabulous pieces that make the wearer feel like a pop star in their own right.

Fostering a global community of creatives

In January 2021, SHEIN launched a designer incubator program called SHEIN X to give emerging fashion designers the unique opportunity to collaborate with the brand and take their designs to new heights. The program involved designers, illustrators, and artists from all over the world to create their own mini-collection of women's, men's, and children's apparel.

 

In August, SHEIN also launched the SHEIN X 100K Challenge, a four-part reality competition and television series that offered 30 emerging designers the chance to partner with SHEIN in launching their own 3-piece capsule collection. The competitors faced off for a USD100,000 cash prize and the chance to be featured in SHEIN's Fall/Winter Fashion Showcase. Pamela Madlangbayan represented the Philippines in the contest.
