Teleperformance, DOH, DOLE, MMDA make vaccination more accessible to the workforce


Teleperformance (TP) Philippines, the global leader in outsourced omnichannel customer experience management, along with the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), inaugurated the fourth leg of the Bayanihan Bakunahan initiative, which expands the government’s national vaccination program focusing on the Filipino workforce.

This is in line with TP’s commitment to ensure the health and safety of their employees. Through this partnership, the government is kicking off its stronger collaborations with the private sector to make vaccines more accessible by bringing it straight to workplaces.

 

A ceremonial vaccination was recently held at TP Ayala, which was graced by government officials such as National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementor Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., MMDA Undersecretary Hon. Frisco San Juan Jr., DOLE Undersecretary for Labor Relations Atty. Benjo Santos M. Benavides, and DOH Director IV Dr. Gloria J. Balboa.

 

Also present in the event was Teleperformance Philippines Senior Vice President for Human Capital Resource Management Jeffrey Johnson, who shared, “[It’s] exciting that the government is opening up opportunities for people to get vaccinated right in their workplace. This is important for companies like Teleperformance because we have around 57,000 employees in the Philippines and to give vaccines straight to the workplace is a great opportunity for us to keep everybody safe and at the same time for the government to be able to provide a valuable service.”

That’s why the government’s efforts are as large when it comes to making sure all workers in the industry get their vaccines. (Napakalaki ng ambag ng BPO industry sa ekonomiya ng ating bansa kaya naman ganoon din ang pagpupursigi ng pamahalaan para lahat ng empleyado ng industriyang ito ay mabigyan ng ating booster shot.)

 

Atty. Benjo Santos M. Benavides, Undersecretary for Labor Relations of the Department of Labor and Employment, shared, “BPO was one of the industries permitted to operate even during the height of the pandemic, and on behalf of the Department of Labor and Employment, we would like to extend our gratitude to the BPO industry for preserving employment and avoiding displacement and of course taking care of your workers and to some extent, their families.” Benavides added, “The government in partnership with the private sector, for one, Teleperformance, is making more accessible the vaccines to the workers.”

 

In the Philippines, the Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry is one of the top employers and is said to have about a 1.4 million strong workforce, according to IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) president Jack Madrid.

 

Dr. Gloria Balboa from the Department of Health also said, “We focus on the agencies or companies that have large percentages of employees who need to be vaccinated because they are the target group, like Teleperformance. (The agencies or companies na mayroong malaking persyento pa na dapat mabigyan ng bakuna ay doon po tayo magpopokus, kasi target group na ito.)” Balboa added, “We are bringing vaccines and also the information closer to the homes and to the workplaces.”

 

Last year, Teleperformance Philippines also launched their own nationwide vaccination program, TPVac, which was able to vaccinate nearly all of its onsite team members in 2021. TP also upholds the strictest safety standards in their business locations to protect their employees working onsite, with their facilities being awarded a Certificate of Safety Seal for its compliance to health and safety protocols against COVID-19.

The Ookla Speedtest Awards named PLDT Home the fastest ISP among key cities in the country


 

The need for faster internet connection at home continues to grow even as the country slowly eases out of the pandemic. This makes it more important for consumers to ensure that their internet service providers (ISPs) are delivering as promised by using an unbiased third-party service, like Speedtest by Ookla.

 

The Ookla Speedtest Awards, which recently named PLDT Home the fastest ISP among key cities in the country, is the most respected online service of its kind. Popular among ordinary consumers and IT professionals alike, it is free and easy to use and has become an unbiased means to compare ISP speeds worldwide. 

Fast and easy to use

Regular internet testing assures a user of having optimal internet speeds for productive online work. Some people, however, use the service to detect home connectivity issues or even to decide whether they need a speed upgrade to keep up with their family’s growing connectivity needs. 

 

To use Speedtest, just open your browser and visit www.speedtest.net. (there’s also an app version for download on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, Google Chrome, and Apple TV). Click the “Go” button for the service to connect to a server. Within a few seconds, it will show the connection’s download speed, upload speed, and ping rate (which shows the “lag” or reaction time of the connection). You can then immediately compare the result with the ISPs advertised speeds. 

 

It is also advisable to do the test a number of times using different devices, and at different times of the day. Doing this allows the subscriber to see if there’s a difference in speeds between two devices or if one of them has a connectivity issue. Network-related activities such as routine service maintenance could also affectresults. However, if the download / upload speed seems accurate when using a single device but drastically drags as soon as more devices are connected to the internet, then there’s a need to reduce the number of connected gadgets or bandwidth-hungry apps –- or this could also be a perfect time to consider an ISP upgrade. 

 

When testing internet speeds, user should keep in mind that since devices have different Wi-Fi capabilities, it’s only normal that different devices will register varying download/upload speeds, even on the same connection. Also, the Wi-Fi router itself affects the test result, so users must ensure it is set properly and supports the full speed of the internet service for a more accurate result.

PH internet speeding up 

As average broadband speeds in the Philippines have seen continuous impressive growth in the last few years, PLDT has played a vital role in setting the standards for the country’s internet speeds for the Filipino home.  

 

Ookla figures from June 2020 to June 2021, show that fixed broadband download speeds increased from 23.74 Mbps to 66.55 Mbps. The same improvement is evident for Upload speeds, from 23.46 Mbps to 66.86 Mbps.

 

PLDT Home currently holds the record of being the fastest broadband network in the Philippines for the 4thconsecutive year based on the OoklaSpeedtest Awards Q3-Q4 2021. In the recent Ookla report, PLDT showed top download speeds of 203.97 Mbps and top upload speeds of 217.07 Mbps – or a Speed Score of 77.24. This is a big jump from the telco’s previous Speed Score of 27.28 in the second half of the previous year.

“What I love about my character is how accepting she is,” said singer-actress Gigi De Lana. “She doesn’t judge and gives up. This story is about believing that there is still hope for when you make a decision and set your goals, even if there are a lot of things that hinder you,” she continued.

With over 700,000 subscribers on the Jollibee Studios YouTube channel and millions of views on each of their viral videos, Jollibee continues to share short films that tug at the heartstrings of its viewers. 

When asked about her initial reaction to the opportunity, Gigi was quick to say that it was an automatic “Yes” for her. “I’ve been such a huge fan of Jollibee’s short films. I think what makes it popular is it makes people laugh, fall in love, cry, and most importantly, binibigyan kami ng lesson sa bawat kwento,” said Gigi.
