vivo gives Filipinos a blazing flash this September with vivo Y35

Filipinos now, the Gen Z’s specifically, are deemed to be always on-the-go and have a fast-paced, dynamic lifestyle so a smartphone that can meet their needs is a must. From connecting with one another via all-in-one communication apps to browsing websites, playing games, listening to music, streaming movies and TV series, and checking emails, the gadgets they need should be able to perform a variety of functions well.

Gen Z’s are surely in for a treat as vivo is now gearing up to launch the newest addition to its Y series lineup this September! Designed to cater to the ever-changing demands of today’s digital users, the new vivo Y35 is bound to arrive and make quite an impact as quick as a flash.

But what do we know so far?

With smartphones nowadays running many processes and applications in the background, battery consumption is definitely high, and draining it multiple times a day is common. Fast charging is one of the best innovations offered by modern-day technologies, and vivo seems to be a step ahead in this direction. The vivo Y35 is rumored to carry a 44W fast charge capability (not to mention the 5000mAh large battery capacity), which is a rarity for its contemporaries in the same price range.

Promising a smoother operation, the vivo Y35 is also expected to be launched equipped with a Snapdragon 680 processor. It is also rumored to be the first vivo Y product (the top in the industry!) to have a 8GB Extended RAM - this feature supports more active apps in the background and ensures you can always switch smoothly between apps without any lags. If this is true, then the vivo Y35 definitely is a strong smartphone contender that will surely deliver high performance and reduce lagging of the device.

Apart from this, the images show that the vivo Y35 will be integrated with three rear cameras, including a 50MP main shooter.

In the design department, the vivo Y35 appears to be a looker too as consumers can choose between two stylish colorways: Dawn Gold and Agate Black. The Dawn gold is inspired by the dawn of the morning while the Agate Black is inspired by the change of light and shadow in the midnight sky.

vivo is slated to launch the vivo Y35 on September 10 at a very accessible price point and with amazing specifications and features. Visit vivo’s official websiteFacebookInstagramTwitter and YouTube channels to receive real-time updates about the vivo Y35.

These Shopee stories highlight the transformative power of e-commerce and how it changes lives

In the face of adversity, Filipinos have always risen above every challenge by fostering the spirit of bayanihan. This spirit of community and togetherness is what Shopee recognized and strived for when it first launched Shopee Bayanihan — its umbrella CSR arm that aims to harness the power of technology to serve its customers, sellers, partner riders, and all Filipinos across the country.

Today, Shopee Bayanihan continues to evolve as a multifaceted program with various initiatives that cater to the needs of Filipinos. Each of these initiatives are grounded in its main mission to better the lives of the underserved through technology—to be there for every Filipino through every hardship and victory.

In line with these efforts, Shopee highlights the inspiring stories of five individuals, and how Shopee was able to support them in their time of need and help improve their lives. Watch the full video here.

Roel, Shopee Xpress Partner Rider (TransOrient Agency): A hardworking father who strives to provide

Roel’s journey with Shopee Xpress started when he joined the TransOrient Agency and was placed in the Bacoor Hub. Prior to that, he admitted that he was struggling to make ends meet. By becoming a Shopee Xpress partner rider, he was able to provide for his family and send his children to school. “Kapag ako sumuko pa, paano na sila? Wala namang lalaban sa pamilya natin kung hindi tayo,” Roel says.

Roel shared that one of his happiest moments was when his son asked him to wear his Shopee Xpress uniform at his graduation ceremony. He realized that his son was very proud of him, and appreciated everything he had done. “Nabago ng Shopee ang buhay ko at ng pamilya ko. Ako ay isang proud Shopee Xpress rider!” says Roel.

Virginia, Shopee Bayanihan: Typhoon Odette Beneficiary: Conquering fear as one community

Virginia is one of the many beneficiaries of Shopee Bayanihan’s Typhoon Odette Support. She shared that her experience with the typhoon left her frightened and worried about the future of her family and her home. “I was shivering at the thought of what could happen because both my husband and I are sick. I didn’t know what to do. All I could do was pray for the strong winds to stop.” she says.

When Shopee Bayanihan’s Typhoon Odette Support rolled out to affected areas in Cebu, Bohol, and Surigao, Virginia and her fellow residents of Tinago, Cebu, were one of the beneficiaries that received relief packs and other essentials. “We’re grateful that help came to our community. We were not really expecting this, and had no idea that Shopee was going to be there in our time of need,” she says.

Mark and Angel, Shopee Sellers: Fighting for their family by driving their business forward

Mark and Angel nearly lost their daughter to biliary atresia, a rare condition that affected her liver and required her to undergo an expensive procedure abroad. In order to provide for their family and help pay for Avery’s maintenance medicine, the couple decided to start their business, Live Pillow. Before taking their business online, they struggled to generate sales. “May mga araw po talaga na wala kaming benta, at sobrang lungkot po namin ni partner nun,” shared Mark.

When they put up a store on Shopee, they were able to reach new customers, generating thousands of orders. Now, Mark and Angel were able to expand their business by having their own staff and warehouse. “Dahil sa Shopee, nagkaroon kami ng pangalawang pamilya at ang staff po namin ‘yun. Lahat kayo, lahat tayo dito, pamilya.” says Angel.

Jocell, Shopee Girl ng Pook Dagohoy: Finding the best deals to support her family

Known as the “Shopee Girl ng Pook Dagohoy”, stay-at-home mom Jocelle shared that it was hard for her to find a way to save due to her family’s debt. “Nalubog kami sa utang. Nung nagka-pandemic, nawalan ng trabaho yung asawa ko. Nangungutang na lang ako ulit para may maibayad sa utang din namin,” says Jocell.

Through Shopee, she was able to save on all her essentials and bills. “Na-diskubre ko na pwede akong umorder ng mga diaper na naka-sale sa Shopee, kaya sobrang nakakatipid ako. Yung ShopeePay bills payment naman po doon po ako nagbabayad ng ilaw at tubig para makakuha ng cashback,” she shares.

Today, Jocelle is able to manage her expenses better, as she is able to get better deals on her family’s needs on Shopee.  “Parte na talaga si Shopee ng buhay namin,” says Jocell.

LifeFood Curcumin from luyang dilaw can provide natural pain relief

Our joints allow our bodies to move in ways that allow us to do the simplest of actions like walking or typing on our phones and computers, and also perform complicated motions such as those required in dancing and playing sports. This crucial role of our joints in movement means that they are subjected to continuous wear and tear, so it’s no surprise that we sometimes feel like our ankles, wrist, or knees are hurting.

In addition to the usual wear-and-tear, joint pains can also be caused by repetitive use, in sports or certain tasks at  work; structural problems, like osteoarthritis; or inflammatory conditions like gout or rheumatoid arthritis. LifeFood, the natural food supplement brand of UNILAB, lists down some of the common conditions that could be making our joints creak and ache.

Osteoarthritis. Getting older is one of the factors that causes joint discomfort, especially in the areas that bear the brunt of our weight like the hips and knees. This is because the gel-like protective cartilage that helps support and cushion the joints and bones can break down over time due to constant wear and tear. This condition is called osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease and affects millions of Filipinos.

Gout. Gout is another cause of joint pain: uric acid crystals accumulate in the joint space causing damage and inflammation. This condition is greatly affected by one’s lifestyle: eating too much protein like red meat, drinking alcohol or sugar-loaded drinks especially those with high-fructose corn syrup, dehydration, and being overweight are among some of the factors that lead to increased uric acid levels. Certain types of medications can also increase one’s chances of getting gout and experiencing joint pain. Considered as one of the most painful types of arthritis, gout symptoms include pain, swelling, redness of the involved joint or joints; typically the first attack happens in the big toe.

Rheumatoid arthritis. Another type of inflammatory arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disorder wherein the immune system attacks membranes around the joints. It’s characterized by tender, swollen joints and feeling stiff in the morning. It can also be accompanied by fever, tiredness, or unexplainable weight loss or loss of appetite. In addition to affecting the joints, rheumatoid arthritis can also affect the skin, lungs, and heart.

Old injuries. Old injuries especially in the tendons, ligaments, or bones, can also cause joint pain which can sometimes become chronic. Trauma to a joint can change its biomechanics and structure in ways that make it more prone to increased wear and tear compared to a non-injured joint.

Whatever the root cause, problems in the joints can be debilitating: the limitation of movements keeps us from doing our jobs or tasks, and the pain impacts our quality of life. Internal medicine specialist and functional medicine practitioner Eca Lorenzo, MD, FPCPshares that there are different ways to address joint pain depending on its cause, but managing inflammation is definitely an important part of treatment.

“Whatever the cause of joint pain there is usually inflammation involved, that’s what causes the pain. Inflammation is our body’s natural response to injury or infection, it’s part of the healing process. Unfortunately, it can become chronic and when that happens it starts to cause damage instead,” Dr. Lorenzo explains. “We can curb chronic inflammation by living a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise, and following a diet that’s loaded with colorful fruits, vegetables, and whole grains that are rich in nutrients and antioxidants.”

She adds that one of the foods that people with achy joints can turn to is turmeric, also known as luyang dilaw. “Turmeric contains curcumin, a chemical that’s well-researched for its anti-inflammatory properties and known for reducing joint pain and swelling. Various studies have shown that it benefits those with diseases that are caused by some sort of inflammation like arthritis,” the doctor points out.

One of the products offered by LifeFood is LifeFood Curcumin that has a concentrated dose of curcuminoids extracted from turmeric. Considered as a natural pain reliever, it comes in a capsule form that can be taken 2-3 times a day, or as directed by a health professional. Unlike the usual luyang dilaw offerings in the market, LifeFood delivers 29x better absorption through a technology that ensures the body gets the optimal effects in every capsule.

Joint problems, in some cases, may be inevitable, but the pain that comes with it is highly manageable. With a healthy lifestyle and solutions like LifeFood Curcumin, we can get relief from pain so we can move more, and live life to the fullest!

5 items we treasure from our childhood

Most of us turn to our childhood for the nostalgia of simpler, more carefree times. A simple mention of a funny or meaningful event from our childhood is enough to get us reminiscing with family and friends. It instantly takes us back to a totally different way of life, making us miss the old times.

This is why we treasure items from the past. Memories and sentimental value make it difficult for us to part with them. Whether it’s things we used to enjoy as kids, pamana keepsakes from our parents, or little things we occasionally used to get as treats, these items from our childhood will always hold a special place in our hearts.

CDs and cassette tapes

Today, we listen to our favorite artists with just a few taps on our smartphones. But back in the day, we still had to go to our favorite music store to grab a cassette tape or CD of their latest and greatest hits. Then, we would pop them into either a Walkman or CD player to listen to the tracks. For music lovers and collectors with a taste for the classics, keeping most, if not all, these music mementos is a must!

Piko, tumbang preso, and other street games

Before the days of smartphones and online games, us Pinoy kids had the streets as our playground. Playtime meant spending an entire afternoon with our friends outdoors. Who doesn’t remember classic street games like piko, tagu-taguan, luksong baka, and tumbang preso, or the thrill of running away from the taya in a round of habulan? We all looked forward to those fun times spent outdoors, and to this day, many of us still know how to play these games by heart!

Jolen, jackstones, and other classic Pinoy toys

Aside from the street games mentioned above, many of us also loved collecting, trading, and playing with simple toys like yo-yos, paper dolls, jolen, jackstones, and teks. Some of us would even painstakingly make our own tirador and saranggola, with plenty of help from our parents. One thing is for sure – we’re all guilty of spending a big portion of our baon to expand our collection of these classic toys!

Film cameras

Many of us were also guilty of playing with family cameras as kids. It was always fun pretending to be photographers, taking snapshots of things we found interesting. However, with only 24 or 36 shots in a roll of film, we had to make every shot count! Fortunately, with film photography now getting popular again, we can still keep shooting with these vintage cameras and relive our days as budding photographers!

Jolly Spaghetti.

Part of every Filipino’s childhood is rushing to Jollibee to have their favorite meals like the sweet-sarap Jolly Spaghetti. Just one bite instantly takes us back to fond memories of celebrations and bonding moments with family through the years. There’s no surprise that the meatiest, cheesiest, sweet-sarap Jolly Spaghetti remains a firm favorite of both the young and the young-at-heart mula noon hanggang ngayon.

Jolly Spaghetti is available for only PHP 55 Solo and PHP 215 for a Family Pan in all Jollibee stores nationwide. Satisfy your cravings and have it safely delivered to you via the Jollibee Delivery App, JollibeeDelivery.com, or #87000. Also available for Dine-in, Drive-Thru, and Take Out!
