Airbnb reveals that over half of Filipinos polled expressed interest in becoming Airbnb Hosts

As the holiday season awaits and the travel rebound continues to unfold, more Filipino travelers are embracing flexible travel while more homeowners turn to hosting on Airbnb for additional income. A new survey commissioned by Airbnb* reveals that over half of Filipinos polled expressed interest in becoming Airbnb Hosts to take advantage of the new appetite for travel.

Around the world, Airbnb has seen strong growth rates of  new Hosts, especially in countries with high inflation rates. Notably, 77 percent of Filipinos polled said they were looking for ways to offset rising costs of living. The survey also shows that desire for travel remains high, with over a quarter of respondents saying that they will continue to find ways to travel even if general costs of living rise.

In a trend that started since the pandemic, millions are now enjoying their newfound freedom to live and work anywhere. Notably, 65 percent of Filipinos polled said that they are now more flexible in terms of their type of holidays and time of travel. Notably, of those who plan to travel within the next year, 1 in 4 Filipinos said they plan to travel without set dates.

This new approach to travel and living continues to shape the choice of accommodation among Filipino travellers. When asked about factors that influence when and how they travel:

      Almost half indicated they are likely to travel if they can find accommodation that makes longer stays easy and comfortable

      35% pointed to destinations offering unique styles of accommodations

      25% prioritised access to amenities that make it easy to combine remote work with travel, such as a dedicated workspace and a fast, reliable internet connection

This growing appetite for travel among Filipinos puts homeowners in a unique position to take advantage of the Airbnb Setup, the all-new easy way to Airbnb one’s home which was announced early this month. In Q3, Pasay ranked as the #1 trending domestic destination for Filipino guests on Airbnb, followed by El Nido, Cebu City, Paranaque, and Iloilo City.**

Amanpreet Bajaj, Airbnb’s General Manager for Southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan, said the fundamental shifts towards long-term stays and flexible travel point to the increasingly important role that short-term accommodations (STRA) like Airbnb play in the new era of travel.

“This growing appetite for travel is a positive sign as tourism recovery gathers pace. More keenly, this is an opportune moment for aspiring Filipino entrepreneurs to Airbnb their homes and earn additional income to mitigate rising living costs or support their travels,” he added.

5 Christmas pasta yummy recipes for Noche Buena

Filipino families have different ways of enjoying Noche Buena during Christmas. Some usually have their go-to dishes, including recipes that were passed down from moms and lolas.

One staple in Noche Buena spreads are pasta dishes, like macaroni salad and sweet Filipino spaghetti. While you have favorite recipes na nakasanayan, you can try something new to make your pasta dishes extra special for Christmas this year. To do this, make sure that you have quality ingredients, like El Real Pasta, to whip up a delicious dish that your loved ones will enjoy.

The possibilities with pasta or “pastabilities” are endless, so here are some recipes you can do for your Christmas spread:

Creamy Bistek Tagalog Pasta

Incorporate the flavors of the Filipino-favorite ulam Bistek Tagalog to your pasta dish, but with a creamy twist. The beef will be marinated in soy sauce, calamansi, and garlic for 30 minutes before pan-frying and simmering it in marinade. Complete the savory sauce with all-purpose cream and let it simmer for a couple minutes or until thick. Mix in the al dente El Real Flat Spaghetti, and top it with onion rings, chopped spring onions, and parmesan cheese.

Sushi Bake

This popular merienda can also become a hit during Noche Buena. Recreate a sushi bake by switching up the rice with El Real Elbow Macaroni. Just mix the macaroni with homemade aburi sauce and top it off with shredded crab sticks, diced mangoes, and ebiko flakes. Bake it in an oven for 10 minutes, and voila, you have a pasta-fied sushi bake in time for Noche Buena.

Lechon Paksiw Pasta

Did you know that you can add lechon to your pasta dish? The Lechon Paksiw Pasta uses El Real Flat Spaghetti with shredded lechon meat, lechon sauce, all-purpose cream, and various vegetables for the sauce. This savory pasta dish may not be your usual recipe, but the tasty lechon paksiw flavor of the pasta will surely impress guests. It’s also a great way to use up leftover lechon from previous gatherings and incorporate the ingredient to your Noche Buena meal.

Pasta Valenciana

Make your El Real Spaghetti fancy by turning it into Pasta Valenciana. This Spanish paella-inspired dish is made with tomato paste, onion, and garlic for the sauce, and chicken and carrots for the toppings. It requires you to place the pasta in the sauce while it’s simmering in a saucepan until the bottom is toasted. Assemble the Pasta Valenciana and serve for a hearty Noche Buena meal.

Nutty Rainbow Salad Delight

For dessert, you can make an elevated version of the classic macaroni salad using walnuts and cashews. After prepping and cooking the El Real Elbow Macaroni and fruit cocktail, mix them in a bowl with Kremdensada until they’re well-incorporated. Top it off with cheese, walnuts, and cashews for an added saltiness and crunchiness. This will be the perfect ending for your Noche Buena.

Cebu Pacific Advisory Peak Travel Reminders

After two years of stop-and-go travel due to COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, we are now ready to re-embrace Christmas and New Year with our families and friends. It’s time to meet them and celebrate the holidays with cheers. But air travel should not be chaotic.

Here are a few friendly reminders to make the travel experience for everyJuan less stressful this holiday season:

1.     Be On Time at the Airport, Beat the Road Traffic

Cebu Pacific and Cebgo passengers must allot time for traffic going to the airport. Passengers must be at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 and 4 at least three (2) hours before departure for domestic flights, and three (3) hours for international flights. Passengers traveling to Dubai are allowed to check in as early as seven (7) hours before departure.

2.     Check in Online

Long lines may be avoided at the airport by checking in via the official CEB mobile app or via the Manage Booking section of the CEB website. Both options are available from seven (7) days up to one (1) hour before scheduled time of departure for domestic flights; and up to four (4) hours before scheduled departure for international fliers.

3.     Check Flight Information

All check-in counters close one (1) hour before the scheduled time of departure to ensure there is ample time for all necessary pre-flight procedures. We encourage passengers to immediately proceed to their respective boarding gates. Boarding commences 45 minutes before the scheduled departure.

Updated flight information may be viewed at https://www.cebupacificair.com/flight-status

4.     Self-Tag Luggage for Select Domestic Destinations

Guests flying out of select domestic destinations (Manila, Davao, Clark, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, Bohol, Iloilo, and Zamboanga) are reminded to self-tag their check-in luggage prior to proceeding to counters for bag drops, in line with the airline’s contactless flight procedures.

5.     Single Hand Carry and Exemptions

Passengers must bring only one carry-on bag for a more convenient flight experience. The carry-on bag must not exceed 7kg in weight and can fit in the overhead bins or under the seat.

CEB has exempted items that are allowed to be carried aside of the single handcarried bag:

       Gadgets or food items that cannot be checked-in;

       Items purchased inside the airport (requires proof of receipt);

       Assistive or medical items such as walking canes, foldable walkers;

       Baby food and necessities for passengers traveling with infants;

       Or a small bag that can fit under the seat

6.     Checked Baggage Policy

Passengers are encouraged to purchase prepaid baggage with their tickets during initial booking on the CEB website and mobile app. CEB has implemented a per piece baggage policy which applies to all passengers with checked baggage. A passenger may choose either a 20kg or a 32kg check-in baggage, or a maximum of the (2) two options.

Any excess in size, weight and pieces are subject to oversized baggage fee, excess baggage fee and/or extra Bag Fee.

7.     Check The Airport Terminal Assignment of Your Flight

Passengers must check their itineraries and boarding passes before proceeding to their designated airport terminal. Cebu Pacific’s 5J flights arrive at and depart from the NAIA Terminal 3, while Cebgo (DG) flights to and from Manila operate from the NAIA Terminal 4 at Domestic Road, Pasay City.

8.     Bring a copy of your LGU vaccination card for domestic, and VaxCertPH for international travel

Travel documents requirements may change from time to time, without prior notice.  We recommend all guests to continue checking relevant travel advisories to prepare for their flight. Passengers may also refer to http://bit.ly/CEBTravelRequirements for more information.

Guests must also update contact details on their bookings so they will be notified of pre-flight reminders and flight changes.

9.     Pack your patience and keep your cool.

It is frustrating when hassles happen at the airport or on your flight. Stay calm and have a positive perspective. It’s Christmas, after all! Keep your stress response under control and maintain that joyful attitude. Cebu Pacific on-ground personnel will assist you. CEB continues to implement a multi-layered approach to safety while it operates with a 100% fully vaccinated crew, 95% of whom have been boosted – all to ensure everyJuan flies safely and conveniently on Cebu Pacific. Visit www.cebupacificair.com for more information.
