UNIQLO announces the latest updates for HEATTECH as it celebrates 20 years of game-changing fashion for the cold season


Global apparel retailer UNIQLO today announces the latest updates for HEATTECH as it celebrates 20 years of game-changing fashion for the cold season.

 

Jointly developed by UNIQLO and Toray Industries and launched in 2003, HEATTECH serves as UNIQLO’s thin and warm thermal clothing technology that converts water vapor from the body into heat. The cumulative unit sales of the popular line have reached approximately 1.5 billion items worldwide as of last year. HEATTECH embodies UNIQLO’s LifeWear philosophy of simple, high-quality everyday clothing designed to make everyone’s life better.

 

This season, the HEATTECH lineup has been updated to further enrich everyday life, featuring newly developed materials for greater comfort and an expanded range of design and color variations. Along with its signature innerwear, UNIQLO also offers a rich lineup of other apparel and goods that incorporate HEATTECH technology. Keeping you warm and comfortable during chilly weather, HEATTECH continues to support fashion designed for cold weather around the globe.


A new material that is thin, light, and warm

New in the WOMENS line is the HEATTECH Ultra Light Turtleneck Top, made with the thinnest HEATTECH material yet. The use of ultra-fine fibers makes this item about 20% lighter than conventional HEATTECH innerwear. Air pockets, created by knitting the thin yarn in a way that adds puffiness, help ensure heat retention. With warmth the same as conventional HEATTECH items, the material offers smooth comfort and just the right amount of sheerness. It comes in a wide range of color variations as well. These new items can be worn both as innerwear and for layering, making them highly versatile for styling during colder seasons.


Product updates

 

WOMEN - Changes in specifications and knitting method for greater comfort

Standard HEATTECH innerwear now has printed care labels for a smoother feel. This year, the range of skin tone colors has also been expanded for easier use as a base layer. The popular HEATTECH Extra Warm Seamless Ribbed lineup launched last year now has improved knitting specifications that makes it less prone to pilling, while still retaining its fluffy feel. The material used has also been updated with the recycled nylon.

 

MEN - Updated materials and rich color variations

The material for HEATTECH innerwear has been changed to recycled polyester. Including the HEATTECH Cotton Crew Neck L/S T-shirt (Extra Warm) series, color variations in the lineup have been expanded to broaden the range of styling options. HEATTECH Ultra Warm has been updated to a new material with a special knitting technique that holds more air, making it soft and lightweight while retaining the same warmth level the Ultra Warm line is known for.

 

First Holiday Collection from "Princesse tam.tam"

The French-born brand "Princesse tam.tam" joins the HEATTECH lineup as a new holiday collection. 

 

"Princesse tam.tam" specializes in original prints and vibrant colors, and this new lineup features the brand's signature coloring. The newly added items are Seamless ribbed turtleneck T (PHP 990) and Socks (PHP 290). The new items are scheduled to launch in November.

 

 HEATTECH is the choice of fashion professionals

During Paris Fashion Week fall/winter 2023-24, a gathering of fashion industry professionals from around the world, UNIQLO conducted a survey about UNIQLO and HEATTECH products. The results show that the usage rate of HEATTECH increased by 25.5% since the previous survey, indicating a growing market penetration worldwide. When asked what respondents like about HEATTECH, the most common answer was that it is warm without being bulky. Overall, respondents indicated that they wore HEATTECH because they want to stay warm while still enjoying fashion during the cold season.


 

      A boom in the last three years

Of those respondents who said they have worn HEATTECH, 70.6% stated they started wearing it within the last three years. Some respondents cited energy costs, rising prices, and changing temperatures changes as reasons, indicating that HEATTECH buying trends were partly affected by last year’s energy crisis. In addition, when asked how often they wore HEATTECH, about half of respondents said they wore it on a daily basis indicating that, over the past three years, HEATTECH has rapidly become an essential item in people’s wardrobes.


Interview survey on the consumption and purchase of UNIQLO products

Survey method: Street interviews. Survey respondents: Persons in their teens to 60s, (teens 4.6%, 20s 59.2%, 30s 11.9%, 40s 9.5%, 50s 9.7%, Over 60s 5.1%). Those surveyed were visitors to Paris Fashion Week 2023-24 and fashion industry professionals. Number of survey responses: 409. Survey period: February 27 to March 22, 2023.

Fueling MSME Success in the Digital-First Economy: Nurturing Digital Proficiency with Grab's Merchant Masterclass

 

Grab Philippines remains unwavering in its commitment to fostering sustainable success for its merchant-partners in a digital-first economy, with a special focus on empowering Filipino Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). In line with this, the leading superapp proudly commenced the Grab Merchant Masterclass, a capacity-building program geared at enhancing the digital prowess of MSMEs across various dimensions of their enterprise. 

 

The Grab Merchant Masterclass is the flagship initiative for merchant-partners under the Skills Development pillar of the GrabAsenso Program, which is the overarching social empowerment campaign of Grab Philippines. The knowledge-sharing sessions are led by subject matter experts from Grab and partner organizations, covering topics such as digital advertising, cost-efficient digital marketing, and accessible micro-financing.

The hybrid training program for merchants has had four face-to-face sessions in Manila, Bacolod and Iloilo in the first half of the year, welcoming more than 250 merchant-partners in total. In a bid to reach more merchant-partners from across the country, the Grab Merchant Masterclass also recently launched online episodes on Grab social media channels and Grab’s dedicated Merchant App. 

 

Culminating this season of Grab Merchant Masterclass is a hybrid session held at Commune Makati. Led by Frances Cruz of social entrepreneurship and human resource development organization Bayan Academy, and Erica Suerte of Grab Finance, the masterclass zeroed in on branding and advertising through digital marketing and enterprise financing with business loans.

Championing Change: The HOPE Hero Awards Honoring Everyday Heroes


HOPE, an impact organization that invests 100% of its profits for the building of public school classrooms and environmental interventions, awarded three outstanding everyday heroes during the recent virtual HOPE Hero Awarding Ceremony.

 

HOPE Hero Awards is a recognition program that shines a spotlight on those who have dedicated time, resources, and creativity towards uplifting the lives of others, earning them well-deserved recognition for inspiring others to follow their footsteps to create meaningful and lasting change.

 

“The stories of our HOPE Heroes are of triumph over despair, of compassion in the face of cruelty, and of perseverance when the odds seem insurmountable. They remind us that no act of kindness is too small, and no dream is too big. These stories will hopefully inspire us to dig a little deeper to find our own best selves - to find the better angels in our natures - and to recognize the many everyday heroes that you may have in your lives each day,” said HOPE chairperson Nanette Medved-Po.


Cynthia Caridad Abdon-Tellez was named Hope Hero of the Year, the top award of the recognition program for establishing the Mission For Migrant Workers (MFMW) in 1981. Recognizing an urgent need, the mission has now provided essential services to approximately 30,000 foreign domestic workers in Hong Kong. It is through her advocacy that she has shed light on the challenges faced by these workers, 98% of whom are women from underdeveloped countries. Her work extends to addressing issues of underpayment, overwork, debt, discrimination, and even physical and sexual abuse.

 

Four decades of service later, Cynthia has become a catalyst for empowerment, allowing migrant women to rise above victimhood and become advocates and leaders themselves. Under her guidance, grassroots organizations and unions have flourished, creating a united front for asserting rights and advocating for change.

 

Runner up, Anton Mari Lim is the co-founder, president and CEO of the Yellow Boat of HOPE Foundation. As his flagship project, he was able to donate safe transportation in the form of 5,000 yellow boats, ensuring that children in remote areas can access education which has led to increased school attendance in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

 

Runner up, Zacarias Mansing is a wheelchair-bound PWD who embodies the spirit of a socio-civic volunteer and motivational speaker. Despite being paralyzed from the chest down, he continues to inspire others through his initiative “Books for Kids” that aims to be a catalyst for children to develop a love of reading and elevate literacy levels in public schools, especially in the remote areas of Negros Oriental.

 

The HOPE Hero Award is open to Filipinos who are delivering impact anywhere in the world AND individuals, regardless of nationality, impacting Filipinos.

 

Each candidate was deliberated by a panel of judges who reviewed and evaluated the submissions under the following criteria: Community impact and reach in which the initiative should have significantly improved the lives of the people in the community and have impacted a large audience; Consistency where the recipient should have demonstrated a consistent history of his/her work for not less than a year and in ongoing at the time of the awards; and Creativity where the recipient’s work must involve some degree of unconventionality, innovativeness and originality.
