Best Value Factory Food Outlet: Warehouse Shopping without the Membership

This Holiday Season may be the best time to try shopping at the Best Value Factory Food Outlet, one of the best kept secrets in the industry. And best of all, unlike other warehouse outlets, you don’t need a membership. People in the food industry and those with small and medium scale food businesses have been flocking to Best Value even before they opened their doors to the public at large – and now you can, too.

When you name your store Best Value, you need to have the goods to back it up – and they do. They offer factory prices on a host of goods particularly Cooking Oils, Specialty Fats, Baking and Culinary Ingredients and a whole sundry of items you won’t normally find at the supermarket and normal retail outlets. Best Value has a wide assortment of goods at great value and superb quality. Most of their products come from Oleo-Fats, an affiliate company which already manufactures products for food industry leaders and famous food chains.

Initially, the store was just an outlet to sell to Oleo-Fats customers who didn’t meet the larger volume orders, according to Princess Guia, Best Value’s ebullient Sales and Operations Supervisor. But this year they realized that expansion meant choices, and so they decided to carry other brands as well, making them a full-fledged store.

One of the reasons the store expanded to include more and more items is simply because the customers kept asking.  For instance, since they already sold the soft serve mixes, customers also looked for the cones, the syrups and the toppings. “They wanted basic commodities, like flour and sugar, so our goal is to complete the product lines,” says Guia.  This is why you’ll also see products adjacent items such as packaging material and chocolate and cookie molds.

Predictably, Food Service and Horeca (Hotel, Restaurant, CafĂ©) industries make up a large portion of their customer base. The rest have food kiosks/stalls bakeries, some are hobbyists and homemakers. Pretty much anyone will benefit from their products. “For all your culinary needs” is not just a tagline. They have a range of mixes, syrups, sauces, toppings, flavorings, spices, breadings, among other dry goods and even frozen meats. While food items are their primary product, there are also other like soaps, cleaners and laundry detergents because the food service companies also need those and their parent company, D&L Industries, manufactures those products as well.

The company also encourages entrepreneurship with their HANEP (Buhay) Negosyo Packages. The store sells equipment such as soft serve ice-cream makers, granita slushee mixes, juice mixes, 3-in-1 Vendo, and Popcorn Maker. It’s a smart move as they’ve become a one-stop shop for all your entrepreneurial needs. The streamlining just makes it easier. They also conduct free seminars and demos to educate interested customers.

As always, it’s the people who really make the experience shopping here an enjoyable experience. Best Value knows their customers not just because they’re often repeat customers, but because they engage them, and it’s those personal touches that really make the customers feel heard. When some of their shoppers went looking for Organic Apple Cider Vinegar in the shop because there was a shortage in the usual places, Guia herself searched for other suppliers and it wasn’t long before they were on the shelf. It is this kind of personalized service and the products themselves that have brought fast growth to the company and definite expansion plans for next year. As Guia puts it, “We are also learning from the customers.”

Best Value Factory Food Outlet is located at 62 Calle Industria, Bagumbayan, Quezon City, (02) 635 0680 loc 386, 0918 903 9328. Store Hours: 9AM-7PM daily. Visit and like their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BestValueFFO/

GOV’T, TELCOS’ SWIFT ACTION IN ‘LAWIN’ HIT AREAS EARNS PRAISE

Thanks to the full blast restoration efforts and proactive action of the government agencies and telecommunications companies, mobile phone subscribers were able to immediately reconnect with their loved ones in areas hit by super typhoon “Lawin” last month.typhoon-lawin.

Mobile subscriber Mark Pascua experienced this first hand when he sought the help of the government through the 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center and Hotline when he could not reach his relatives in Solana, Cagayan last Oct. 20 in the aftermath of the powerful storm that had maximum sustained winds of 225 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 315 kph during its initial landfall.

A day after Lawin made landfall in Cagayan province on the eve of Oct. 19, Pascua asked the Hotline 8888 Special Action Team of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to help him touch base with his relatives as vital connectivity services were suspended because of the damaged transmission lines.hand-cellphone.

Immediately after taking the call, the CSC Special Action Team in turn relayed thru electronic mail Pascua's concern to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) for the restoration of the communication tower in Solana town and requested the latter to act on the request soonest. The NTC, in turn, promptly addressed the concern by coordinating with the telcos.

The next day on Oct. 21, NTC's regulation branch director Imelda Walcien, who also happened to hail from Northern Philippines, sent a text message to Pascua to ask if he had already reached his family.

“Hi Mark Pascua. This is a representative of NTC. We take notice of your request for assistance submitted to CSC.  May we know from your end if till this time there is no signal yet to contact your family?  Thanks,” said Walcien’s text message to Pascua.hand-cellphone

Pascua, for his part, replied: “Thank you.  I already had a contact with my family.  Thanks a lot for a quick response.”

NTC said it was also fortunate that the restoration efforts of the telcos in the calamity areas were in full blast at the time when Pascua sought assistance.

In anticipation of the devastating effects of typhoon Lawin, NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba as early as Oct. 17 already directed all public telecommunications entities to ensure that there are sufficient number of technical and support personnel and standby generators in areas forecast to be affected by typhoon Lawin.

The 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center and Hotline was institutionalized through the Executive Order No. 06 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte only last Oct. 14.

The 24-hour hotline allows citizens to report inefficiencies and corruption in government. The complaints are referred to the concerned government agency for appropriate action.

EO No. 06 requires concerned agencies to come up with a “concrete and specific” action within 72 hours or three days from the receipt of the complaint.

Love at First Bite that's the #DominosEffect

A “domino effect” is defined as “a cumulative outcome that is produced when a single event initiates a succession of similar events”. Domino’s Pizza Philippines has stayed true to this meaning, and yet has added so much more. The country’s pizza delivery expert has demonstrated that the simple act of receiving a delicious box of Domino’s pizza creates an outward (and contagious) ripple of joy, delight, and cheerfulness. Indeed, it is enough to make you momentarily forget about the weariness and challenges of the day, and instead focus on “love at first bite” – that’s the #DominosEffect !

As of last count, almost 1 million people have seen the #DominosEffect on full display, when a viral of a truly unique initiative exploded on social media. In case you haven’t seen the video, here’s the link: http://bit.ly/TheDominosEffect

When a company shows that it understands and empathizes with the grief associated with Metro Manila traffic, and does an amazing gesture in order to put smiles on people’s faces, then it is no wonder that the #DominosEffect video has taken the Internet by storm.

According to the company, they are “delivering delight, one pizza at a time.” While there’s no doubt that Domino’s Pizza will surely translate into delight, it is the message to share and spread this #DominosEffect that really resonates and deserves to be passed on. The world can certainly use more smiles, joy, and laughter nowadays.

MiG Ayesa debuts passion song Fill My Cup with FWD Life

I first heard of MiG Ayesa way back when he joined that reality show Rockstar: INXS, where the band was looking for a new vocalist. He quickly became my favorite even before I learned he was part Filipino, I just loved his look, and from the three finalist I think he looked the most legit rocker.

I finally got the chance to meet him in person when he was promoting his play "Bridges of Madison County," and although he still had that "rocker" look, he didn't have that snobbish attitude you usually associate with artists of the genre.

In fact, MiG was the complete opposite, he was nice very friendly, and most of all he smelled so good!

Fast forward to last week, I got to meet MiG once again at the launch of his new song "Fill My Cup, his newest passion song, which he wrote for insurance company FWD.

“Fill My Cup is my own personal soundtrack as it echoes my take on life and how I look at opportunities and challenges. It’s all about following your passions, “filling” up life with everything you can and never giving up. There are so many amazing things to see and to do in this world and we shouldn’t let our uncertainties and fears stop us. And that’s exactly what FWD wants to tell everyone—that they will be there to back you up, just in case something goes wrong. Remember, fortune favors the brave and FWD is there to help you be brave,” MiG told us.

It is a song about resilience and optimistically taking on life’s challenges and future uncertainties by just living life to the fullest.

For FWD, MiG was the perfect partner for this project because not only is he a world-class musician and talented actor, but he also lives and breathes the FWD brand message,"said Roche Vandenberghe, FWD Life Philippines’ Head of Marketing.

The song’s music video perfectly captures MiG’s zeal for life, as shown in the behind-the-scenes footage of the studio recording and clips of his own personal experiences and adventures. Mig “Filipinos are musical people. We express ourselves through music and lyrics. And we thought what better way to communicate how we, as a brand, embody the Filipino spirit—their love of life, their resilience, their optimism.

"Fill My Cup" really captures the very essence of FWD’s philosophy of celebrating life and living life to the fullest. It’s such a feel-good and positive song and we hope it motivates Filipinos to live life to the fullest and always pursue their passions. When they do, FWD Life has their backs,” adds Vandenberghe.

To make the song even more inspiring, FWD Life Philippines is donating P50 every time “Fill My Cup” is requested and played on the radio, and these will go to the Saint Rita Orphanage, a loving home that takes care of abandoned and orphaned children.
