Lazada brings you beauty and fashion tips and tricks straight from the experts

What’s the best way to play with Pantone's 2023 Color of the Year, Viva Magenta, to make statement looks in 2023? To bring out your main character energy, how do you pull off an ensemble inspired by a Korean or Old Hollywood Glam leading lady?

These questions get answered by today’s top tastemakers on Style by Lazada, a new video series premiering January 30 on Lazada's Facebook and YouTube, featuring Belle Rodolfo and Marbbie Tagabucba. Beyond being an eCommerce pioneer, Lazada is kicking off the new year with a series that serves as your go-to spot for style and makeup tips and tricks, straight from the experts.

Meanwhile, Marbbie can’t keep her excitement about the many themed episodes of Style by Lazada, including assembling a fun, cool-kid look, 90s nostalgia, and date-ready ‘fits. “For Valentine’s Day, if you’re looking to do something fun, we have a zodiac-themed date night look, so watch out for that! And you can get all these pieces on LazLook, and to make it even better, you can shop for your items so conveniently with Lazada’s fast and free shipping!”

Marbbie describes her style as “very functional.” She prefers work wear and accessorizing with something that presents functional value. Her top fashion tip: “Just elevate your staples, go for statement pieces, and treasure them for life, I think that’s cool.”

Presenting the opportunity where you can play with style and slay is LazLook. As Lazada’s fashion destination you can trust, LazLook offers a wide assortment of trendy and affordable pieces that caters to everyone.

In terms of beauty go-to’s, Belle tends to side with a vibrant and feminine makeup style. Right now, her favorite beauty trend is incorporating Viva Magenta, which she says looks “really good on morenas like me.” She even bought a magenta cream blush on LazBeauty.

Small businesses can thrive by identifying customer needs and giving them a solution

Small businesses owners discussed how their relationships with customers, seller tools and resources have positively impacted their small businesses.

Kickstarting and scaling your business is no easy feat. And for these three inspiring entrepreneurs, eCommercepioneer Lazada has been pivotal in taking their small businesses to the next level.

Michael dela Cruz of Jophiel's Collection, Joven Ganaden of MR mabenta, and Juvy Apura of Vy On Style all took a leap of faith to be able to give their families a better future, through hard work and Lazada’s wide range of tools that empower anyone to be an entrepreneur.

Jophiel's Collection

Michael, for instance, had no experience in running a business. He put up his footwear store Jophiel’s Collection during the height of the pandemic by circumstance, after his work as a wedding video editor came to a screeching halt.

Searching for answers, Michael turned to his in-laws who have been manufacturing sandals for 20 years. They, too, were impacted by the pandemic when their partners closed shop. Michael thought of helping both of their causes by selling the products online, paving the way for the launch of Jophiel’s Collection.

“From a one-man team, now more than 10 na kami,” he says, adding that his shop has added a wider range of footwear selections.

The business was such a hit that Jophiel’s Collection crossed the 1-million-peso mark in sales in just six months. He adds that their small business continues to do well—keeping up with the latest trends in fashion and crafting custom-made pairs that cater to the needs of their loyal customers.

Michael credits Lazada’s vital role in his success. He vouches for the platform as the best choice to kickstart a business, pointing to its wide and established customer base. He adds that the tools and resources Lazada provides also makes it much easier to start and scale small businesses. Today, the shop has even expanded to supplying to resellers.

Through Lazada, Michael also got a new definition for success. "It’s not even about having money or any material thing anymore," he says. "Rather, it’s being able to enjoy the luxury of spending time with the family while making a living."

MR mabenta

It’s the same winning approach that brought great things to Joven Ganaden of motorcycle parts shop MR mabenta. Set on giving the best for his family no matter the cost, Joven worked as a garbage collector, a courier, including for Lazada, and a wet market vendor.

It was during one his deliveries as a Lazada rider, however, when Joven got the idea of transitioning into online selling.

Joven chose to sell motorcycle parts. After almost four years of being a full-time Lazada seller, he has been able to acquire his own property. Joven also bought a car after a month of selling inflatable swimming pools during the summers in lockdown, recognizing that people missed going to swimming trips.

Of all the support he gets from Lazada in running his business, Joven trusts Lazada Sponsored Solutions. The program is a comprehensive suite of paid visibility tools that help drive effective exposure and conversion for brands and sellers.

Vy On Style

Much like those who approach Joven in the hopes of replicating his accomplishments, Juvy Apura of women’s clothing shop Vy On Style wanted to achieve more.

After working in the manufacturing industry for 15 years, Juvy started attending to her family’s household full-time in 2018 when she gave birth to her third child. But she always believed that she could contribute more to her family.

“I love being a mom, pero marami pa akong kayang gawin bukod sa paglalaba, luto, plantsa, at iba pang gawaing bahay,” she says. “Kaya nag-set ako ng goal na makatulong sa husband ko. Talagang motivated ako to build a business that time, at nakilala ko si Lazada.”

With a strong resolve that she could excel in online selling, Juvy began selling everything from clothes to food. She then tapped into her inner fashionista and focused on women’s apparel. Juvy recalls Vy On Style’s first hit product being the Chalis terno coordinates, a versatile “pambahay-pangalis” outfit. From there, the shop’s offerings grew more wide-ranging, including plus-size collections and other items.

“I came from literally zero from 2020 when I started, and now I have 7,000 followers and counting with good ratings,” she says, adding she hit 3 million in sales last year. This year, Juvy is aiming for a million per quarter.

It’s a goal made possible through the massive reach of Lazada. Juvy says her business grew from “parang kaliwaan lang ang sales” to catering nationwide. She also credits Lazada’s easy and efficient logistics services that streamlined her operations.

“Success, for me, is a five-star review on my page,” she says. “Customers being happy and satisfied with the services and products that I offer is the meaning of success to me as a business owner.”

For all the support it provides, Lazada serves as the preferred destination for MSMEs to start and grow their business. The platform is a bona fide partner of sellers with a range of tools and resources that help them thrive, including charging 0% commission for new sellers for up to 3 months. Couple these with best-in-class technology and a supportive community, it’s easy to see why dreamers turn to Lazada.

Google is celebrating your favorite drink milk tea, with a fun interactive Doodle

There’s a new Google Doodle in town and this one celebrates the almost universal popularity of milk tea (or bubble tea)!

To say that Filipinos love milk tea is an understatement. With its cool, refreshing taste, coupled with fun, delightful sinkers such as chewy pearls, pudding, jelly, or even ice cream, the Philippines has officially embraced the beverage as an everyday feel-good staple.

One of the proponents of the craze in Metro Manila is Serenitea, which opened its first branch in San Juan in December 2008. Since then, many local and international chains popped up including Chatime, Gong Cha, Tiger Sugar, and more, giving Filipinos their own spin on the beloved beverage.

In 2019, the Philippines ranked second among the countries with the most milk tea drinkers in Southeast Asia. A food delivery survey found that Filipinos consume an average of five cups of milk tea in a month. That’s significantly greater than Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam’s average of three cups in a month per drinker!

It’s not just the Philippines, the world has fallen in love with this Taiwanese concoction that the market is now worth $2.02 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach $3.39 billion by 2027.

Google is celebrating the beloved drink with a fun, interactive Doodle that allows you to create your own milk tea concoctions and run your own shop.

In this interactive Doodle, you are playing as a dog who runs a milk tea cart. It’s a rainy day and you’re pushing your milk tea cart and setting up shop. It’s the perfect day for a cup of milk tea as the sweet drink and the sinkers are sure to cheer you up in such gloomy weather.

Create yummy customized drinks for five different customers by combining the ingredients–black/white pearls, tea, and sweet syrup–in specific amounts. Tap on your mouse or screen until you fill along the dashed line. Once the cup is filled with all three ingredients, it’s ready to serve!

This will be done 4 more times to serve the other customers. Your served drink is also given a star rating based on how precisely you fill the cup per ingredient.

Celebrate your love for milk tea and check out the Doodle now on Google Search!

NAIA has been crowned as the first Drag Supreme of Prime Video’s hit Filipino reality competition show Drag Den

NAIA has been crowned as the first Drag Supreme of Prime Video’s hit Filipino reality competition show Drag Den with Manila Luzon before a live audience of “drag addicts” at Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier in Taguig City.

NAIA bested co-finalists Shewarma and Maria Christina, who placed first runner-up and second runner-up respectively. The final “dragdagulan” to the crown involved a national costume round and a swimwear round with a lip sync battle.

Ultimately, NAIA impressed the judges during the question-and-answer portion. Asked what is the one thing that makes her the true Drag Supreme, she answers, “Coming here to this competition, I did not come here with the biggest budget or the best gowns and the best wigs. I only came here with love and passion for drag.”

“And when I auditioned, I knew that Drag Den was for the underdogs. And I have that quality of growth that I have exhibited ever since Day 1. I’ve stumbled and I’ve gone through so much hardship, especially in this competition. And Manila, you’ve opened my eyes to what drag could truly be. It is freedom of expression and I can’t be more happy to be here,” she adds.

“I hope that my story inspires young queer artists who are afraid of putting themselves out there, because I was afraid. But thank you Manila for giving this platform because I was able to prove that growth is what you need to become the next Drag Supreme. I hope I made you proud. Thank you, Manila.”

Hosted and executive produced by “Drag Lord” Manila Luzon, the eight-episode reality show caught the eyes of many with fashion statements and unique looks that capture the zeitgeist of the Filipino society. It also featured drag queens - the so-called members of the “drag cartel” -  OA, Aries Night, Barbie-Q, Pura Luka Vega, and Lady Gagita. Co-hosting the program were “Drag Dealer” Nicole Cordoves, and “Drag Runner” Sassa Gurl.

Produced by CS Studios, series creator and director Rod Singh and Antoinette Jadaone of Project 8 Projects, all episodes of Drag Den with Manila Luzon are now streaming on Prime Video.

Elevate your smartphone photography game with the Xiaomi 12T Pro

Elevate your smartphone photography game with the Xiaomi 12T Pro, an advanced triple-camera setup with high-resolution capabilities. Whether you're a professional photographer, or just looking to up your Instagram game, the Xiaomi 12T Pro offers a range of features to take your photos to the next level.

The Xiaomi 12T Pro allows you to easily capture stunning images. But it's not just about the camera's technical capabilities that matter, it's also about knowing how to use them.

Experiment with different shooting modes

The Xiaomi 12T Pro's main camera boasts a resolution of 200 megapixels, more than enough to capture stunning images on the fly. When taking pictures, make sure to set the camera resolution to 200MP to capture the highest level of detail and sharpness as possible.

Don't be afraid to experiment with different shooting modes. The Xiaomi 12T Pro offers a variety of modes, including Night mode, Pro mode, and AI mode, each designed to optimize your camera for specific types of shots. Play around with different modes, and see which one works best for you.

Manual focus is another feature that can take your photos to the next level. By adjusting the focus of your shot manually, you can easily capture image shots or specific details in a scene.

The wide-angle lens is another tool not to be overlooked; it’s great for capturing landscapes or group shots. Remember to switch to the wide-angle lens before you start shooting to ensure you're getting the most out of this feature.

Lighting can greatly affect the final outcome of a shot and the Xiaomi 12T Pro's camera performs great in various lighting conditions. Experiment with different lighting setups and angles to see which one works best for the scene you’re trying to capture or mood you want to evoke.

When it comes to capturing movement, the Xiaomi 12T Pro is equipped to handle it in all its forms, from blurred or panned movement to intentional camera movement and sharp movement. But to truly capture movement effectively, you need to understand the principles of composition.

One key composition principle to remember is the rule of space. This principle states that you should leave room in front of moving objects in the composition, allowing them to move into the frame. This creates a sense of movement and dynamism in the photo.

Another great technique to try with the Xiaomi 12T Pro is reflection photography, which can lead to unique perspectives and add depth to your shots.

Xiaomi photography masterclass

Xiaomi recently conducted two masterclasses to guide users of the Xiaomi 12T series phones in making the most of their device's imaging system. The first session focused on "Movement" and was led by Filipino former actor and photographer John Manalo.

The second session delved into "People Photography" and was also conducted by John Manalo, collaborating with photographer Angelo Mendoza.
