Manny Pacquiao is the newly appointed ISPS Handa Ambassador

The International Sports Promotion Society (also known as ISPS Handa) with Ms. Midori Miyazaki and Mr. Kevin O' Brien recently appointed eleven-time world boxing champion and Philippine senator Manny Pacquiao as one of its global ambassadors last October 17 at the Makati Shangri-la.

He is joined the ranks of  former New Zealand Prime Minister Sir John Key, former Prime Minister of Ireland Enda Kenny, international rugby icons Dan Carter, Francois Pienaar and Mike Tindell, as well as top rank golf pros including Lydia Ko, Ernie Els, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie, Thorbj orn Olesen, Emiliano Grillo and Lee Westwood.

In a press conference held at the Makati Shangri-La on Wednesday, October 17, ISPS Handa representatives conferred the recognition to the acclaimed boxing icon, and officially turned over its contribution amounting to $100,000.00 to the senator's charity foundation Emmanuelle & Jinkee's Heart Foundation, Inc.

He told that the contribution would be of great help to the people of Gen San, whose main advocacy is to provide homes for the indigents.

”It is a great honor to be an ISPS Handa ambassador," Pacquiao said.

"I was able to meet Dr. Handa earlier in Japan this year, and we have become good friends since then. Since we are both sports enthusiasts, we share the same vision of using sports to bring people together and promote world peace, and I am happy to know that this is the same vision that has inspired ISPS Handa since it began."

Founded by Haruhisa Handa, the Japanese charitable organization has gained renown for its active involvement and sponsorship in major global golf tournaments and has also played a major role in the promotion of blind golf worldwide.

Pacquiao recently reclaimed the WBA world welterweight title after defeating Argentinian fighter Lucas Matthysse during their Fight of Champions bout at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last July 15.
