Essilor launches interactive new website

Blurred vision. Poor night vision. Eyes that feel tired almost all of the time. Frequent eye exposure to the sun.  Poor vision for your school-age kid. What are the causes of these vision problems and how do you protect your eyes from them? More importantly, what solutions are available to help you address these problems?

To help and guide consumers in understanding and finding the best solutions for their eye problems, Essilor, the world leader in corrective ophthalmic lenses, has launched a newly designed website at www.essilor.com.ph.  The website is more than just an educational portal on vision and eye care, it also offers a comprehensive guide to help consumers find the best and most suitable solutions for their vision problems.

The website makes it very easy for consumers to choose the lenses they need. Click on the “Products” section to see the entire brand portfolio under Essilor: Crizal for clearest vision; Crizal Transitions for optimum vision solutions both indoors and out;  and Varilux as the #1 progressive lenses for smooth transition from distance through intermediate and near visions.  Then there’s Crizal Eyezen for connected people who frequently use digital devices;  Xperio for polarized sunwear for best protection and comfort outdoors; Optifog for long lasting fog-free vision; and Myopilux for the most effective myopia control lens available.

Within the section, consumers can easily choose from lenses which have been carefully classified according to Age, Need, and Activity.   For instance, if you click on Age, you can choose from lenses for kids, young adults, adults and senior adults.  If you’re looking for lenses based on Needs, you can choose from UV protection, blue light protection, reduce glare, fog resistance, distance vision and even eye strain prevention, among other issues. Or if you require lenses based on Activity, you simply click on any of the following: reading, driving, computer use, and playing sports. Simply click on the relevant item and the website will recommend lenses based on your requirement.

Easy-to-understand information on vision is discussed on the “Learn about Vision” landing page. “All About Your Eyes” gives facts and trivia about the eyes, eyesight and vision problems, while “Age And Your Vision” discusses eyesight conditions and problems through the different life stages. The “All About Lenses” subsection shares the types and functions of lenses and gives details on caring for these lenses and the possible conditions that may occur upon using them.

Imparting the significance of proper eye care is also a top priority.  The “Eye Care” subsection goes through each symptom, condition, sickness, cause and preventive measure for vision problems comprehensively, and even has a page devoted to the latest news in eye care and vision research. Finally, “Visiting Your Eye Doctor” explains the critical role of eye care professionals in vision care. This is helpful for site users who are planning to have their first-ever optical check-up and trying to find the best vision solutions for eye problems.

The new website also now includes a dedicated locator, powered by Google, for visitors to easily find the licensed vision care clinic or optical shop nearest them. Each page in the website also has contact functions to allow customers to reach out to the wide network of eye care professionals accredited by Essilor Philippines.

Visit the new website now and learn more about what Essilor can do for you at www.essilor.com.ph. You can also visit the Essilor Philippines Facebook page at www.facebook.com/essilorph.

Crizal Eyezen helps you see the world better

The glasses lenses that suits you depends on your glasses prescription and the activities you use your glasses for and how much time you spend on your computer. Even if your glasses are multicoated,
which corporate a combination of coatings - anti-reflection, scratch-resistant, water repellent and UV, you still need special lenses to protect and relax your eyes after a hard day's work, or just by wearing these lenses to filter out blue light from artificial light like VDU computer monitors, your android phones, and tablets.

I have learned a week ago after trying on the Glasses lenses at Crizal Eyezen event at Green Sun, that Crizal lenses are the best protection there is because Crizal Eyezen lenses exist in three (3) different optimizations according to the type of screen most used and the age of the patient. It features three revolutionary technologies—Eyezen Focus, Light Scan and W.A.V.E Technology that work in sync to relax the eyes from all digital stress and protect against harmful blue light. Just by using the normal lenses without any grades it instantly calm and relax my eyes.

Crizal Eyezen lenses are designed to replace ordinary prescription lenses or to assist occasionally the ones who usually do not need glasses, when viewing their digital devices.

With this in mind, Essilor, the global leader in ophthalmic lenses, introduces Crizal Eyezen, a new range of lenses designed to keep your eyes protected while staying connected to the digital world.

With the abundance of digital devices, people are now engaging in a digital behavior called “multi-screening”. It is a behavior where an individual uses multiple digital screens simultaneously, on average four (4) different devices are used—either for work, education, socializing or leisure.

A typical multi-screen user spends 7 hours and 24 minutes of screen media per day. Of that time, 34% is spent on smartphones; 33% on TV; 23% on laptops; and 10% on tablets. This longer time in front of bright digital screens and versatility between devices are challenges for the human eye, and many people are describing specific symptoms linked to their new behavior.

Eyezen Focus Technology helps relieve the eye’s focus when using digital devices and reduces eye strain in ultra-near distances or for reading small characters by giving an extra power in the lower portion of the ophthalmic lens.

Light Scan Technology is a unique light filtering technology which protects eyes from the harmful blue-violet light emitted by digital screens. W.A.V.E Technology, on the other hand, eliminates lens distortion for sharper, clearer vision at every distance and better vision even in low light.

“Crizal Eyezen enhances the digitally connected lifestyle of the millennial generation” says Essilor Philippines general manager Dr. Emelita Roleda. “While ordinary glasses help you see the world, Eyezen enhance the way you live in it. With clearer, sharper vision, you can connect to the digital world better, while getting protection for your eyes at the same time.”

Crizal Eyezen is just one of the many technological innovations of Essilor.  As technology continues to advance, people’s visual needs will change at the same time. Essilor makes sure that people’s visual needs are always complemented through its constant technological innovations, innovations that aim for people to see the world better.

Crizal Eyezen lenses are available in clear and Crizal Transitions at leading optical shops nationwide. For more information, visit the Crizal Eyezen Facebook page, www.facebook.com/crizaleyezenph.

Piolo Pascual shares tips for healthy eyes

Of all the good-looking men in the entertainment industry, Piolo Pascual is known to stand out from the rest. With just one look from those dreamy and mesmerizing eyes, he can make any girl swoon. But Piolo himself is quick to point out: Having beautiful eyes is not enough. One must have healthy vision as well because this will help you perform tasks and achieve your daily goals.

That’s what Piolo shared with media friends during the launch of “Seeing the World Better,” a public awareness campaign on the importance of good vision organized by Essilor, the world leader in vision solutions.

According to Piolo, “In my line of work as an actor, it is very important to read your co-actor’s facial cues properly in a dialogue, and you can only accomplish it with good eyesight,” he shared. “That is why eye care is a serious matter for me. Without good vision, we can only do so much, and this limitation can stand in the way of achieving our goals,” he added. Here, Essilor’s brand ambassador shares some important tips for healthy eyes:

Keep your eyeglasses on. “I am fond of surfing the internet through my mobile device, but I have learned that the blue light from electronic devices can harm our eyesight, so I always wear my eye lenses on,” Piolo shared. Harmful blue light is a risk factor for the onset of age-related macular degeneration, a deterioration of the part of the retina responsible for sharp, central vision. To prevent its damaging effect, eye doctors recommend wearing lenses that effectively blocks the harmful blue light. Reading in a dark room should also be avoided. With only your mobile device as your main light, the glare on the screen can cause eye strain.

Follow a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet. Eating a healthy, nutritious diet is beneficial to our eyes. Vitamins C, A and E, folic acid, selenium and zinc, which are present in fruits and vegetables, can make your eyes healthy. Have a daily dose of fruits and vegetables like grapes carrots, spinach, kale, or collard greens, for a clearer, better vision.

Keeping a healthy lifestyle can also be helpful to your eyes, and your overall health. Piolo, who is a known triathlete, maintains a healthy lifestyle by engaging in sports like swimming, biking and running. By maintaining healthy weight, it reduces the chance of getting eye diseases. According to National Eye Institute, being overweight or obese increases your risk of developing diabetes and other systemic conditions, which can lead to vision loss, such as diabetic eye disease or glaucoma.

Visit your optometrist regularly Piolo shared that he has 20/20 vision, but despite having perfect eyesight, he regularly sees an eye doctor to make sure his eyes are in good condition. Regular visits to an eye doctor are very important because it can pick up early signs of eye conditions. You need not wait for symptoms like headaches, dizziness, nausea and cloudy vision before visiting your optometrist. At the same time, eye check-ups may also detect most diseases, such as diabetes, arthritis, heart diseases, and even certain cancers, and can help cure or prevent these diseases from worsening over time. Make an appointment with your eye doctor once a year to keep your eyes and whole body healthy.

There you have it -- Straight from the man whose expressive, healthy eyes have captivated legions of admirers. By simply keeping these tips in mind, we can keep our precious peepers looking good and healthy and be able to perform our daily activities the best way we can.
