Sari-Sari Stores Take Center Stage in Puregold’s MSME Push

In its final installment of the Sari-Sari Stories, Puregold releases “Pangalan,” a moving

tribute to the sari-sari stores that continue to power daily life, grassroots enterprise, and

community connection across the Philippines.

Pangalan,” the final installment of Puregold’s Sari-Sari Stories series, celebrates the cultural and economic significance of sari-sari stores in everyday Filipino lives.

With Puregold Channel’s Sari-Sari Stories, the company honors the enduring impact of sari-sari stores as drivers of commerce and MSME growth.

Following “Ways,” “The Sign,” and “The Witness,” Puregold broadens the conversation

from nostalgia to economic relevance, highlighting how sari-sari stores continue to

serve as accessible retail touchpoints, community anchors, and entry-level enterprises

that support household livelihoods in the country.

Through “Pangalan,” Puregold highlights neighborhood retail as essential commerce hubs in Filipino communities.

Sari-sari stores go beyond informal neighborhood retail. They function as last-mile

commerce points that respond to everyday consumer needs with proximity, familiarity,

and flexible purchasing options. Their resilience has allowed them to remain relevant even as the retail landscape continues to evolve.

That economic role is matched by social relevance. At the heart of Pangalan is the idea

that sari-sari stores are more than neighborhood shops: they are trusted spaces that people turn to not only for essentials, but for connection and reliability. The film captures this dual role in distinctly Filipino terms: the store as tanungan, tambayan, and takbuhan.

Jhoanna of BINI brings familiarity to Puregold’s Sari-Sari Stories, appearing in “Pangalan.”

The narrative is reinforced by appearances of OPM artists Jhoanna Robles of BINI, Stell

Ajero of SB19, and Skusta Clee, whose personal recollections reflect the deep familiarity of sari-sari stores in Filipino life. Their participation adds cultural relevance to a message ultimately anchored in enterprise, accessibility, and community-based retail.

Puregold’s focus on this segment remains rooted in mass-market demand and the practical realities of everyday consumption. By spotlighting community-based retail, the

company reinforces its relevance at the grassroots level while drawing attention to the

vital contribution of MSMEs to the domestic economy.

The timing is equally strategic, with MSMEs already looking ahead at the upcoming

Puregold Tindahan Ni Aling Puring Sari-Sari Store Convention in May.

SB19’s Stell also makes an appearance in Puregold’s Sari-Sari Stories series.

The annual event has become a key platform for sari-sari store owners, entrepreneurs, and partner suppliers, underscoring Puregold’s enduring commitment to small business

development and ecosystem growth.

BINI Jhoanna Makes a Special Cameo in Puregold’s Tribute to Sari-Sari Store Owners

Puregold carries on with its heartfelt tribute to Filipino sari-sari store owners or micro-entrepreneurs with its Sari-Sari Stories video series, the newest installment of which features a special cameo from BINI’s Jhoanna. The Witness is a short film that tells a tender, coming-of-age love story, one that unfolds across the years, shaped by change, constancy, and the quiet presence of a sari-sari store owner who sees it all.

Puregold carries on with its heartfelt tribute to Filipino sari-sari store owners or micro-entrepreneurs with its Sari-Sari Stories video series.

Jhoanna’s cameo adds an extra layer of warmth and relatability to the narrative, underscoring the film’s message of appreciation for small business owners across the country.

The latest Sari-Sari Story follows the budding romance between two childhood sweethearts, their youthful ardor eventually evolving—through the years—into real enduring love. The video depicts the highs and lows of their relationship, all from the perspective of a humble sari-sari store owner who witnessed them all.

Puregold senior marketing manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad echoed Jhoanna’s sentiments, saying, “Puregold has always been a proud ally of micro-entrepreneurs across the country. Through Sari-Sari Stories, we continue to uphold the role sari-sari store owners play in our everyday lives. In their communities, they bring people together by providing convenience and access to daily essentials.”

BINI Jhoanna makes a cameo in the latest installment of the Sari-Sari Stories series.

“The Witness” rides on the momentum of earlier Sari-Sari Stories installments such as “Ways” featuring SB19’s Stell, and “The Sign,” which included a cameo by Skusta Clee. The series has collectively sparked conversations online and resonated with netizens, Aling Puring members, and Puregold followers, reinforcing the remarkable part sari-sari stores play in everyday Filipino life.

As the series continues, audiences are spurred to watch for the next story, reflecting how sari-sari stores have—over time—integrated themselves into people’s lives and into the communities they serve.

With a powerhouse lineup featuring BINI, SB19, Flow G, Skusta Clee, G22, KAIA, and SunKissed Lola, the night was more than a concert. The crowd was as diverse as the setlist. Everyday shoppers stood shoulder to shoulder with influencers and local celebrities. It was proof that music, like Puregold, cuts across communities. Thanks to ticket redemption events held nationwide, fans traveled from across the country, while some even flew in from other parts of Asia and the UAE, just to be part of the moment.

Fans in attendance even got to enjoy a premier VIP experience that included a soundcheck party before the concert proper. On top of that, freebies overflowed from top consumer brands that included Nestle Bear Brand, Nestle Chuckie, Great Taste, Jack 'n Jill, Cream-O, Coca-Cola, Nutriboost Kids, Nissin Wafer, Lucky Me!, Argentina, Angel, Tide, Safeguard, Cream Silk, Surf, Alaska, Doowee Donut, Del Monte Fruity Zing, Nestle Carnation, Nissin Noodles, Magnolia Cheezee, Purefoods, Champion, and Colgate.

Puregold Empowers 1 Million MSMEs: 2025 Tindahan Ni Aling Puring Convention Sets New Milestone in Grassroots Retail Growth

Puregold Price Club Inc. continues to prove that growth and inclusivity are not mutually exclusive—but mutually reinforcing. Now, with over one million active members in its Tindahan ni Aling Puring (TNAP) program, Puregold has evolved from a traditional retailer into one of the Philippines’ most effective grassroots economic enablers.

That transformation was on full display during the 2025 Tindahan Ni Aling Puring Sari-Sari Store Negosyo Convention, held May 15–17 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Attended by a record-breaking number of close to 50,000 sari-sari store owners and micro-entrepreneurs, the event wasn’t just a celebration of loyalty—it was a milestone in Puregold’s strategy to embed itself deeper into the engine of the Philippine economy: the MSME sector.

“Our business’ impact isn’t measured not only by store count, but in lives changed,” said Ferdinand Vincent P. Co, President of Puregold. “When a sari-sari store thrives, a family moves forward, a community strengthens, and the economy grows from the ground up. By enabling our Ka-Asensos to succeed, we’re paving the road to thriving communities.”

What began 21 years ago as a store-based card initiative has become a nationwide platform for micro-entrepreneurship, bridging product access, education, community-building, and digital transformation. The 2025 convention’s theme, “Piliin si Aling Puring, Kayang-Kaya Umansenso,” has a bold proposition: that financial mobility, even national growth, can be built one store at a time.

Puregold has built transformative programs for its TNAP members that goes beyond discounts. Through programs like Mas Pinababang Presyo Araw-araw and Panalo sa Branded, members gain access to high-margin, high-demand products that improve profitability at the shelf level.

Digitally, Puregold is also closing the tech gap. Tools like thePuregold Mobile App and P-Wallet bring ordering, payments, and inventory management online—empowering even the smallest sari-sari store to operate with the efficiency of a modern retailer and a community hub.

TNAP is a strategic growth engine. By mobilizing one million MSMEs as both customers and distributors, Puregold is tapping into a built-in salesforce that penetrates every corner of the country—an asset few competitors can match.

The 2025 convention also spotlighted strong collaboration with partner suppliers, who leveraged the event to engage directly with sari-sari store owners. For FMCG companies and suppliers, Puregold’s grassroots platform offers high-volume, high-trust engagement at scale.

In an economy battling inflation, MSMEs are essential to resilience. They represent 99.5% of all businesses in the Philippines and employ more than 60% of the workforce. Yet many still lack access to formal distribution, financing, or even technology. Puregold is filling that gap—and turning it into a long-term competitive advantage.

“We’ve always believed that progress should be shared,” Vincent emphasized. “And when we say ‘Tuloy ang Asenso,’ we mean it—for our members, our partners, and the country.”
