Kojiesan: Bring Your Skin to Light

It’s no secret that many Filipinas prefer fair, radiant and flawless skin. That’s why whitening products are among the best-selling items in supermarkets. However,  only one contains the two powerful natural-based ingredients of Kojic Acid and high-grade virgin coconut oil: The Kojiesan Skin Lightening Soap.

In the light of the debate as to which ingredient is best for skin lightening, it is important to look for products that are made from natural sources. Originated in Japan, Kojic Acid is a chemical compound made from organic materials that form complexes with substrates and metal ions. Kojic Acid can also be extracted as a by-product of fermentation when making Japanese rice wine & Sake. How natural is that?

Surely, Kojic Acid perfectly fits the bill. Inspired by the luminous, flawless skin of Japanese women, Beauty Elements Ventures, Inc. (BEVI) developed the Kojiesan Lightening Soap, the company’s flagship product, the way the Japanese traditionally formulated theirs.

Since 2007, Kojiesan has been consistently producing their Kojic Acid soap blending high-grade Kojic Acid & virgin coconut oil with effective lightening ingredients that keeps dark pigmentation from forming and inhibits the activity of tyrosinase, the enzyme that produces melanin. Melanin is the pigment responsible for the skin’s darker color.

Despite its massive multinational competition, Kojiesan’s formulation turned out to be the key ingredient in convincing local whitening fans to become true believers. Today, it is the number one Kojic Acid soap in the Philippines.

With regular use, Kojiesan can slow down melanin production and prevent darkening of the skin. It is best for treatment to even out skin tone, erase dark spots and other forms of skin pigmentations. It also corrects skin discoloration and of course lightens skin. Kojiesan products do not contain any hydroquinone, mercury or steroid that may cause further skin irritation like blisters, swelling and severe allergy.

Dr. Lindsay W. Torralba  talks about good skin

Trisha Gregorio Kojiesan Marketing Head
“Whitening has always been one of the goals of most Filipinas today. Perhaps from the influence that we get from Korea and Japan or our daily exposure to teleseryes starring women with flawlessly fair skin, we see that they really look beautiful and attractive. According to research, having a whiter complexion can really boost your self-esteem. However, not all whitening products are the same and not all so-called Kojic Acid formulated soaps are as effective and safe like Kojiesan,” says Trisha Gregorio, Kojiesan’s Marketing Head.

With more and more Filipinas falling in love with the Kojiesan effect, the brand decided to launch a full range of lightening products to complement the best-selling soap—all meticulously developed for undeniably alluring and visibly lighter skin.

Rejuvenate with Kojiesan Cleanser + Toner, equipped with Ginseng Extract and Rosehip Oil to revive tired skin, ridding the skin of excessive oils while repairing skin damage; brighten with Kojiesan Face Lightening Cream, a combination of natural extracts and high-grade Kojic Acid to lighten as it nourishes, restoring skin suppleness for a healthy, rosy look; and lighten with Kojiesan Body Lightening Lotion with advanced formula of Kojic Acid and Rosehip Oil - to whiten skin as it heals - and Collagen + Vitamin E to increase youthfulness and improve skin health.

While the brand enjoys a strong market base here and abroad, Kojiesan is bent on reaching out to more women who are still baffled about which lightening ingredient works best. The new Kojiesan campaign that airs on television will enlighten them as to what Kojiesan as a product is about and what it can do for your skin. No celebrities, no famous faces – just Kojiesan and you – because with Kojiesan, you are the It Girl.

So, when it comes to your skin, you are your strongest advocate. Learn more and try Kojiesan and see how it should be your best choice in bringing your skin to light!

Caltex all-new Techron Glides into Retail Stations

Ever conscious of the needs of motorists, the Caltex brand has reformulated its signature additive package with the addition of a new Clean & Glide technology. The new active ingredients are specifically designed to clean and protect metal surfaces within the engine. Helping reduce friction and thus wear and tear between key engine components, Clean & Glide technology delivers enhanced engine protection, improved fuel economy and maximized power with continued use over time, all key in helping provide a more reliable motoring experience.

The benefits of Caltex with Techron have long been known and making changes to a proven formula was not undertaken lightly. Chevron, which markets the Caltex brand, conducted stringent laboratory tests and accumulated up to 600,000km of real world fleet tests to ensure the final formula provides optimum results for the everyday motorist.

The ability of the new formulation to protect metal surfaces was proven in the High Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR) laboratory test. The standard diesel lubricity test was modified to safely assess the lubricating properties of gasoline. The results indicated that when compared to its predecessor in a controlled environment, Caltex’s new formulation with Clean & Glide technology was able to reduce metal wear and friction by an average of 38 percent and 41 percent respectively using gasoline from around Asia Pacific and South Africa. This is important because Caltex with Techron is formulated to instantly reduce friction in the upper cylinder area of your engine. With continued use, Clean & Glide technology will begin to build–up in your car’s crankcase lubricant to replenish friction modifiers that are consumed during normal operation. Separate laboratory tests simulating this build-up of Techron in the lubricant demonstrated the effectiveness of Clean & Glide technology to improve fuel efficiency by up to 3 percent, when compared to the previous formulation.

“The addition of our new Clean & Glide technology stays true to the evolving nature of our Techron fuel offering. Our products are continuously being improved in anticipation of future engine technology and local market needs. For motorists, a quick Caltex stop now delivers  gasoline grades that help treat their respective cars right, providing additional benefits without compromise,”  said Peter Morris, country chair of Chevron Philippines, Inc. (CPI), marketer of the Caltex brand of fuels and lubricants.

He added that the new 5-star fuel is a further testament of the brand’s desire to provide the best possible fuel for motorists. “We are confident that our best gasoline yet meets expectations and have enlisted engineering expert Grant Imahara, formerly of Discovery’s Mythbusters series, to creatively demonstrate the benefits of Clean & Glide technology which will be showcased on television soon.”

The new and improved Techron with Clean & Glide Technology will be available across all gasoline grades at Caltex service stations starting July 1. To gain the benefits of a more efficient engine more quickly, motorists may opt for Caltex Platinum  with Techron, with 50 percent more active ingredients of Clean & Glide technology to make it faster-acting. Caltex Platinum with Techron is set to replace the Gold variant.

The addition of Clean & Glide Technology is another relevant innovation from Caltex, joining the ranks of Techron D for diesel engines and Techron Concentrate Plus, a concentrated additive that provides a deep clean for gasoline vehicles in one tankful.

Reader's Digest Trusted Brands 2016: Recognizing the Consumers Choice

For Filipinos, the issue of choice has always been matter of trust. From the brands we put in our shopping carts to the services we rely on, Filipino consumers have a strong sense of brand familiarity – and that belief weighs heavily on the decision-making process.

Reader’s Digest (RD), one of the longest-running and most read print publications in the world, once again puts the spotlight on the companies we believe in at the RD Trusted Brands 2016 Awards ceremony held June 30, 2016 at the Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas, Pasig.

The Trusted Brands Survey, identifies the brands and services Filipinos trust, above all others. It also honors the country’s most trusted TV news Presenter, Radio News Presenter, Entertainment/Variety Show Presenter and Sports Personality.

Trust is an emotion that fuels our decision whether we are conscious of it or not. It is that intangible quality that conveys reliability and integrity. Whether it is a product or service, trust is what reassures us that we are making the right choice.

“For the past 18 years, we have been surveying the people of Philippines and consumers in major markets across Asia, about which brands they depend on, believe in and that they expect to provide premium value and exceptional service,” notes Walter Beyleveldt, Reader’s Digest Managing Director, Asia Pacific.

“Every survey we ask thousands of people – both our readers and a representative sample of consumers in each market – to tell us which brands they consider worthy of their support, custom, and their trust. Not only have we learnt which brands consumers follow, we have discovered a lot about what trust means and how it wins the hearts of people across Asia.”

“Being included in this prestigious list is a huge endorsement and one the winners should be very proud of,” he added.

Beyleveldtand Ms. Sheron White, RD Group Advertising & Retail Sales Director, Asia Pacific flew in from Australia to personally award the trophies to the winners.

Renowned motivational speaker and business influencer, Ms. Anna Esperanza  served as keynote speaker.

FOR CONSUMERS, BY THE CONSUMERS
Trust is a key component in the relationship between brands and their customers.

It is built on – and it builds – loyalty. And loyal customers, as any successful brand knows, are key to getting – and remaining – in competitive times.

Trust is hard won – it is usually built up over many years. Trust goeshand-in-hand with a good reputation and delivery of customers’ expectations. It emerges out of the very best consumer experiences, and is achieved only by truly understanding your customers.

“Trust is an emotion that fuels our decisions whether we are conscious of it or not--an intangible quality that signals reliability and integrity. Whether it is a product or service, trust is what reassures us that we are making the right choice,” said White.

“A trusted brand has both international appeal but also upholds a strong local connection. It has individual relevance for all its consumers, just about anywhere and in any culture,” she added.

The Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand mark has become a recognizable symbol globally. And we are honored to announce the winners of the latest survey, who will now be able to use this badge of recognition for 2016 to help consumers make the right choices.

For the 2016 Trusted Brand Survey, Readers Digest commissioned global market research company CATALYST.  Approximately 8,000 individuals were selected across 5 of Asia’s key markets such as the Philippines, HongKong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.

The survey covers 44 categories of products and services across a wide range of industries.

Around 1000 respondents were surveyed in the Philippines.  Half were subscribers to Reader's Digest, while the remainder were selected to reflect the demographics of the general population.

The final ranking in each product category were obtained by multiplying the total number of votes for a brand with its average score for six qualitative characteristics. For statistical accuracy and to ensure results were compiled in an objective manner using proven methodology, the data was weighted to reflect the population distribution of participants.

Boy Abunda talks about Healthy Lifestyle and Tocoma Supplement

When I was overweight a decade ago, I experienced constipation everyday of my life. I was prescribed laxatives and into medicines just to regulate my journey to the bathroom. Until, the doctor told me to exercise, incorporate fiber foods in my diet, lose weight and watch my diet. After a grueling 6 months of going to the gym, eating greens, and cutting on sodas that was when I feel lighter and relax. Up to this day, I got that discipline to maintain my ideal weight. If I ever indulge in food with bad cholesterol, too much sugar, and dairies, I worked it out by running or long walks at the mall.

Eating more foods that are high in fiber adds bulk to your stools while keeping them soft, making them easier to pass. Aim to consume 20 to 35 grams of fiber each day from foods like whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables to avoid constipation. If youre the type of person, who doesnt eat vegetables, there is a supplement to cure your constipation and that is Tocoma,  a fiber-rich herbal supplement from Malaysian health firm, Healol Pharmaceuticals.

Boy Abunda together with Dr. Dennis Ngo and Tocoma Executives launches Tocoma to the media last June 23 at Luxent Hotel, Timog QC.

Boy Abunda is involved in a project that he feels very strongly about. It is not just a public health issue that affects many Filipinos, but touches directly on the lives of two persons whom he admires deeply.

The initiative has something to do with helping people become more aware of the dangers of Colon Cancer, the same ailment that both President Corazon C. Aquino and Pope John Paul II battled for a long time.

According to the Department of Health this form of cancer, which is also known as colorectal cancer, is among the top five cancers in the country for both sexes. Global estimates even reach as high as 1.4 million new cases every year, of which 50 percent may develop into advanced stages.

In a health bulletin, the DOH says that "the disease’s signs and symptoms include constipation, or intermittent constipation and diarrhea, difficult bowel movement or change in bowel habit, blood in the stool, weight loss, fever, loss of appetite, extreme tiredness, nausea or vomiting, jaundice, abdominal discomfort, and gas pains or cramps. Rectal bleeding or anemia may also occur in persons over 50 years old."

But despite all the warnings, what is truly concerning from a public health stand point is the almost complete lack of awareness by many Filipinos about the easy steps that can be taken to help prevent this disease.

According to health experts, colon cancer can be avoided by the simple expedient of having a fiber-rich diet of fruits and vegetables, engaging in physical activities on a regular basis, and keeping the consumption of red meat in moderation. Smoking and too much alcohol should also be avoided.

To help spread awareness of the dangers of colon cancer, Boy agreed to be the brand ambassador for Total Colon Management, or Tocoma, a fiber-rich herbal supplement from Malaysian health firm, Healol Pharmaceuticals.

Because colon cancer attacks the intestines, keeping them clean through regular bowel movement is essential. Tocoma provides the necessary fiber and other essential nutrients in our diet, making this easier for our bodies to perform.

Part of Boy's role with Tocoma is that he will be touring the country to talk about the health risks of colon cancer and the benefits of a healthy  lifestyle.

Together, they hope to educate Filipinos on how they can better take care of themselves.

Enriquez can be heard on Super Radyo DZBB’s programs – Saksi sa Dobol B, Super Balita sa Umaga Nationwide, and Imbestigador Sa DZBB. He is also one of the anchors of GMA’s flagship news telecast, 24 Oras, and hosts the investigative public affairs program, Imbestigador.

“You speak well when you speak the truth and you speak from the heart,” he said.
