Jollibee digital ads “Crush” and “Regalo ni Lolo” included in top global ad list FeelMore50

A global survey has recognized one of the viral Kwentong Jollibee ads “Crush” and the Christmas digital material “Regalo ni Lolo” as among the world’s most compelling, according to the global ad ranking FeelMore50. The chart, which features TV ads and digital films from all over the world, was prepared by United Kingdom-based research firm System 1 Group and weighed based on an emotional impact review that were based on the responses of more than 50,000 consumers.

Jollibee is the only Philippine brand, and the only one from the quick service restaurant category, to make it to the list.

Out of 702 entries, Kwentong Jollibee’s “Crush” video ranked 44th, while the Christmas video special “Regalo ni Lolo” ranked 47th. Both shorts have been well-received locally, with “Crush” registering 19.6 million views and “Regalo ni Lolo” 8.9 million views on YouTube and Facebook. These videos – like several other made-for-digital materials of Jollibee – have also been featured in the reaction videos of several YouTubers around the world and were positively received for its powerful and engaging storytelling and highly relatable message.

“Crush” tells the story of a young man who was head-over-heels in love with his schoolmate and chose to express his admiration by leaving anonymous notes posted on her favorite Jollibee Yumburger. The feel-good story is part of the fast-food chain’s phenomenal three-series Kwentong Jollibee campaign released last Valentine’s Day 2017.

“Regalo ni Lolo”, on the other hand, is a Christmas video special which captures a grandfather’s earnest desire to find the perfect gift for his apo. He eventually stumbles upon Jollibee’s talk and blush doll—a simple gift, that meant the world to his beloved granddaughter.

These two videos by Jollibee also earlier made it to the PH’s leaderboard as one of the top 10 most viewed YouTube ads in the country for the first semester of 2017.

Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and PH Marketing Head Francis Flores says of the recognition, “It is an honor for us at Jollibee, and being the only local brand, to join the world’s most impactful ads at the FeelMore50 charts. With this affirmation, we will be all the more inspired to create resonant and heartwarming stories based on a powerful truth, and further deepen our engagement with our audience by churning out top-notch content consistently.”

Since 2003, the ranking has showcased the power of emotional advertising and recognized the best works in the industry. Topping this year’s list is Mondelēz International’s Belvita Next Stop: Good Mornings, a video released online for the U.K. market.

Ben 10 Needs your Help to save the World!

In the exciting build-up to the launch of brand-new episodes, Cartoon Network is bringing the world of Ben 10 to life across TV, online and social media.

We all know that 10-year-old Ben Tennyson turns from zero to hero when he chances upon a paranormal wristwatch called the Omnitrix that crashed to earth in a meteorite.

Well, in Ben’s latest battle, he goes head to head with his arch nemesis Vilgax the Conqueror of Worlds. Vilgax is an intergalactic alien warlord that seeks to obtain the Omnitrix for himself. He is a master strategist who is known to trick his enemy when physical force isn't enough.

On Saturday, February 10, Vilgax will unceremoniously announce his plans to the world by interrupting Cartoon Network’s Facebook live, proclaiming:

“I AM VILGAX, CONQUEROR OF WORLDS. I HAVE UNDERESTIMATED THE POWER OF THE OMNITRIX! BEN TENNYSON IS A MERE CHILD AND YET IT GIVES HIM THE POWER TO CHALLENGE ME? I THINK I’LL TAKE IT FROM HIM!”

In a flash, he is gone but Vilgax’s power lingers on with his evil influence impacting multiple Cartoon Network platforms.

Usually Ben only needs his Omnitrix to defeat anyone, but it has begun to malfunction causing an unprecedented transformational loop between all 10 aliens. It is now up to everyone to come together and help him to save the world.

From Sunday, February 11 to Wednesday, February 21, Ben will be working to power up all 10 of his aliens to be stronger, faster and better than ever. Daily challenges will be released on the Cartoon Network Facebook page encouraging fans to help to unlock their new Omni-enhanced forms.

Those who are interested in helping Ben, can like the Cartoon Network Asia Facebook page for latest updates. Fans will also learn about the new Omni-enhanced aliens, their powers, vote for their favorite new aliens and catch them in a showdown against Vilgax on Wednesday, February 21.

In line with this, the Cartoon Network website will also feature 10 different daily activities and quizzes about Vilgax, Ben and his new alien forms.

Catch Ben in this epic battle on Sunday, February 11 and stay tuned for new episodes on Cartoon Network from Saturday, February 24 onwards, airing weekly at 9:15am.

Incubus Live in Manila on Feb 17 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum

The much loved American rock band Incubus, whose return engagement to Manila has been eagerly awaited is performing February 17, 2018, Saturday, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The band is known for its rock anthems Wish You Were Here, Megalomaniac, Anna Molly, Drive, Pardon Me, Are You In?, Nice To Know You, among others. The concert is produced by Ovation Productions, the group that also did Incubus’ previous concerts in Manila; the last was in 2015.

Since their formation in 1991, iconic multiplatinum Los Angeles rock band Incubus have consciously and continually shifted their perspective with each subsequent album, preserving the spirit that initially drove them and simultaneously challenging themselves as artists and human beings. Their eighth full-length, the aptly titled 8 [Island Records], proudly upholds that tradition for the quintet—Brandon Boyd [vocals], Mike Einziger [guitar, piano, backing vocals], José Pasillas II [drums], Chris Kilmore [turntables, keyboards], and Ben Kenney [bass].

“As a band, we’re collectively interested in challenging ourselves and hopefully finding new, innovative ways of writing music,” asserts Boyd. “That ethos has kept things interesting for us.”

In the fall of 2016, the five musicians regrouped to flesh out ideas, recording at Jim Henson Studios and at Einziger’s personal studio. As the vision came into focus during early 2017, Incubus added another level by enlisting the perspective of longtime friend Skrillex [Justin Bieber, A$AP Rocky, Lady Gaga] for co-production and mixing. Einziger had spent the past few years, exponentially expanding his personal musical palette. Not only did he oversee production for The Internet’s Feel Good and produce three songs for Tyler, The Creator’s chart-topping “Cherry Bomb,” but he also co-wrote Avicii’s six-times platinum smash “Wake Me Up” and served as musical director and performer for a much talked-about 2016 GRAMMY® Awards performance of “Where Are Ü Now” by Skrillex, Diplo, and Justin Bieber. After lunch one day, Einziger played Skrillex some mixes, and “a whole new world opened up” as the producer added his magic to 8.

“It evolved organically out of my friendship with Skrillex,” Einziger elaborates. “Incubus is all about friendship. We transferred the synergy of working together into what the band was doing. As we put the final touches on everything, Skrillex brought another level to the album.”

As a result, the eleven tracks comprising 8 assemble a mosaic reflective of the band’s current mindset. Unease translates to unpredictable guitar riffs that blur the lines between time signatures as cosmic rhythmic transmissions orbit around an epicenter of combustible emotion. Each lyric encodes a parable or what might be a hidden message. The first single “Nimble Bastard” leapfrogs from a rattling guitar snap into an anthemic refrain. “Loneliest” echoes with an existential rumination on solitude over an airy beat and hypnotic guitars. “Undefeated” struts along via a bombastic stomp before culminating on an uplifting chant, while the spacey “Familiar Faces” instantly enchants.

The soothing instrumental soundscape of “Make No Sound In The Digital Forest” illuminates their cinematic side with delicate chimes, simmering drums, and warbling tones. A dial-up modem signals the explosion of “Love In A Time of Surveillance” as the one-two punch of “No Fun” and “Throw Out The Map” tap into a tsunami of distortion and punk-y freedom. “Glitterbomb” represents the glorious push-and-pull of 8, teetering between heavenly harmony and a dramatic twinge. 8 arrives at a significant milestone for Incubus—releasing exactly 20 years since their major label debut S.C.I.E.N.C.E. landed back in 1997. A little older, a lot wiser, quite tighter, but equally ready to challenge themselves and rock music at large, Incubus change their perspective once more in 2017.

“All the time, I hear from fans that our music was the backdrop of their first experience with love or important in getting them through a hard time,” says Einziger. “That’s the highest compliment.”
When we finished 8, we were flooded with this wave of gratitude,” Boyd leaves off. “The fact that so many people are willing to come on this weird ride with us is really humbling. We’re filled with this sense of awe around it. We’re very happy to share this record with everyone, and we hope they like it.”

(Tickets to Incubus’ February 17, 2018 concert will go on sale starting November 21, 2017 via www.ticketnet.ph and regular Ticketnet outlets or call 911-5555. Ticket prices are P6905, 5905, 3905, 1905, 1005 plus service charge. Media partners are FOXlife, Monster RX 93.1, Philippine Star, and Business Mirror. Produced by Ovation Productions )

Digital transformation will add an estimated US$8 billion to the Philippines by 2021

Have you seen the new season of Black Mirror series on Netflix? Im sure you do, with all the technology and millennial thing happens around us. Im quite disturbed with what it can do to us all, being surrounded with the internet, social media, online shopping, hospitality online booking and banking. What are the security measures being provided besides not losing your mobile unit, your savings and your mind?  But with the way things are going, we should be ready for the digital transformation here in the PH.

Im glad I have attended the Digital Transformation event on Feb 8 at Okada Grand Ballroom Manila and was enlightened with all the information being given by Sir Hans, Andrea and the rest of the Microsoft Philippines officers.

By 2021, digital transformation will add an estimated US$8 billion to the Philippines’ GDP, and increase the growth rate by 0.4% annually, according to a new business study released today. The research, “Unlocking the Economic Impact of Digital Transformation in Asia Pacific ”, was produced by Microsoft in partnership with IDC Asia/Pacific.

The study predicts a dramatic acceleration in the pace of digital transformation across Asia Pacific economies. In 2017, about 3% of the Philippines’ GDP was derived from digital products and services created directly through the use of digital technologies, such as mobility, cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI).

“The Philippines is clearly on the digital transformation fast track. Within the next four years, we expect to see approximately 40% of the Philippines’ GDP to be derived from digital products and services,” said Hans Bayaborda, Managing Director of Microsoft Philippines. “At the same time, organizations in Asia Pacific are increasingly deploying emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence as part of their digital transformation initiatives, and that will accelerate growth even further.”

The survey conducted with 1,560 business decision makers in mid and large-sized organizations across 15 economies in the region highlights the rapid impact and widespread disruption that digital transformation is having on traditional business models.

According to the research findings, organizations are seeing significant and tangible improvements from their digital transformation efforts across these benefits in the range of 6% to 12% today. Business leaders expect to see more than 50% improvements in those key areas by 2020, with the biggest jump expected in profit margin and productivity.

Measuring digital transformation successes: Organizations across Asia Pacific are starting to adopt new key performance indicators (KPI) to better measure their digital transformation initiatives, such as effectiveness of processes, data as a capital, and customer advocacy in the form of Net Promoter Score (NPS). As organizations realize the potential of data as the new oil for the digital economy, Leaders are much more focused on leveraging data to grow revenue and productivity, and to transform business models.

What sets Leaders apart from others are their ability to ride on the digital transformation wave from an organizational culture perspective. The study found that Leaders have these traits:

“There is a pressing need for organizations to adopt a leaders’ mindset to fully build their digital ecosystem—from employees, to customers, to partners—in order to grow their value chain,” said

Acer Philippines recognized its key business partners at its annual ePinnacle Awards.

Marking its 15th anniversary in the country, Acer Philippines recognized its key business partners at its annual ePinnacle Awards.

"This celebration coincides with Acer's ninth year as the country's number one PC vendor and 12th year as number one notebook vendor. We wouldn't be enjoying this success and the trust of Filipinos without the support of our partners and distributors," said Manuel Wong, Managing Director of Acer Philippines Inc.

Wong also underlined how in the past years from 2003 to 2017, their partners have helped them grow as a company, with their revenue sky-rocketing to 50 times what they had made in their early operational years.

"The support of our friends has added to our passion and empowered our strong resolve to open up new possibilities for our consumers and business partners alike through a synthesis of our hardware, software, and services," said Wong. "Our partnership has allowed us to mutually prosper so much that it has given us the wonderful opportunity of giving back."

As part of the celebration, the tech giant also acknowledged their partner in Corporate Social Responsibility, GreenEarth Foundation.

Since 2011, Acer has been sowing to the GreenEarth Foundation, a non-government organization that aims to restore and preserve the forestry at the foothills of Sierra Madre while helping the communities residing in the area. In six years, the partnership has flourished and restored the region with 8,000 trees.

Likening their development as a company to how trees grow, Wong proudly announced how their efforts with GreenEarth has borne fruit. Romnick Blanco, a farmer's son and one of the many beneficiaries of the organization, has recently accepted a full scholarship from Harvard College. As a gift, Acer also provided him with his own notebook PC to aid him in his studies abroad.

"Romnick is only the first fruit of this special tie-up. We continue to pursue our commitment as a company until more young people like him have great opportunities opened to them.  And with partners like you, we are confident this is a reality we will be witnessing in the many years to come," said Wong.

With the send-off, the ePinnacle awards night drew to a close. A total of 46 partners were awarded that evening in the following categories: Acer Provider Awards, Marketing Awards, Associate Partner Awards, Commercial Partner Awards, Consumer Partner Awards, Acer Distributor Awards, and Partner of the Year Awards.

The prestigious awards ceremony was held at Cove Manila with over 500 partners in attendance. Ending the evening on a high note were balladeer Ogie Alcasid and Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid serenading their guests.

“Through tonight’s celebration we opened the year strong,” said Wong. “Together with our partners, Acer Philippines will continue its legacy of providing the best quality tools and break the barriers between people and technology. Filipinos should get ready to see and experience the exciting things we have in store for them because the best is yet to come.”

Medical Professionals urge Filipinos to take skin health seriously during PAPSHPI’s 12th Annual Convention

JW Healthcare Philippines (JWHP), the local sales subsidiary of JW Group, a leading pharmaceutical company in Korea, is one of the companies that supported the 12th Annual Convention of PAPSHPI. In photo are PAPSHPI officers (left to right)  Sarah J. De Los Reyes, M.D.,June Paul Ayache Garcia, M.D.,Maria Carmelita G. Vergara, M.D.,Grace M. Lopez, M.D. - center (founding chairman),Marlon B. Ulit, M.D.,Joan Yabut-Dulfo, M.D. and Manrico Cruz, M.D.

The Philippine Association of Primary Skin Health Physicians, Inc. (PAPSHPI), an affiliate of the Philippine Medical Association, urges the public to take skin health more seriously and choose medical grade skin care products.

Skin health is often neglected and taken lightly. It is easy to dismiss skin care as an unnecessary indulgence for mere cosmetic reasons or vanity.

PAPSHPI, which recently held their 12th Annual Convention at Novotel Manila Araneta Center, warns patients against these common pitfalls.

Through PAPSHPI President Dr. Elise Christine Tompong, Chairman Dr. Grace M. Lopez, and past presidents Dr. Maica Galvez-Vergara and Dr. JP Ayache Garcia, the association stresses the importance of skin health.

“Skin is the largest organ of our body and most people do not know that. If we can take time out to give attention and care to our heart, lungs, stomach, and other vital organs, why can’t we do the same for our skin,” says PAPSHPI.

Skin care should be regarded as preventive care, and treatment of skin diseases must start early to prevent further damage just like with any other organ. Physicians warn that “symptoms may go unnoticed or may not be given attention to for months, even years.”

Skin cancer, for example, is not as popular as breast cancer. But, according to PAPSHPI, it is a disease that may afflict Filipinos, too.

“The realization that early treatment should have been done sets in when the problem has become severe and chronic,” says PAPSHPI.

Mass market vs medical grade
The market does not lack skin care products, which are categorized into mass market and medical grade. However, PAPSHPI advises against falling victim to mass market skin care products because these provide temporary results and come with a higher risk of undesirable side effects.

The medical group urges Filipinos to be selective in using skin care products by choosing products that have been medically tested for safety and efficacy.

PAPSHPI President Dr. Elise Christine Tompong explains that medical grade and prescription-strength skin care products are formulated to provide lasting or permanent results, and skin heath doctors can prescribe these products for specific skin concerns.

Every skin is different and therefore one product cannot suit all skin types. PAPSHPI reminds the public that it is best to ask experts such as medical doctors and professionals which products are good for your skin.

JW Healthcare Philippines (JWHP), the local sales subsidiary of JW Group, a leading pharmaceutical company in Korea, is one of the companies that supported the 12th Annual Convention of PAPSHPI.  JWHP recently launched Dermairis Korean skin care mask infused with natural ingredients and manufactured using patented CTP technologies.
