Tagaytay Highlands holds its ground as a safe residential haven in the mountains

With the way things are going nowadays, especially in these difficult times. Everyone is thinking of moving in to a nearby provinces and Tagaytay is considered one of the safest places to live outside Metro Manila.

As Tagaytay Highlands holds its ground as a safe residential haven in the mountains, it has taken new stock of its impact on the environment, ensuring lockdown-weary affluent folks of its proven viability as an alternative primary home.

Use of environmentally friendly vehicles, reforestation, and propagation initiatives are just a few measures which Tagaytay Highlands continues to undertake to be able to maintain good air quality in the complex.

In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Tagaytay Highlands places social and environmental considerations at the heart of its products and services, introducing environmentally sound innovations to protect and nurture its communities.

From simple practices such as looking into species of grass that are most compatible with the weather to efficient use of water resources to efforts at inclusiveness such as installation of ramps and special entrances for persons with disabilities, Tagaytay Highlands takes its role as custodian of the estate very seriously.

For a decade now, Tagaytay Highlands has been holding its “One Tree At A Time” activity with the goal of planting one million trees in its premises by 2044.

To manage its carbon footprint, Tagaytay Highlands regularly monitors its resource consumption and waste generation. As the company pursues its master development plan, it mindfully designs structures for environmental responsibility.

A pioneer in sustainable golf, Tagaytay Highlands International Golf Course makes use of Zoysia Grass in some of its greens and fairways. For Tagaytay Midlands Golf Course, Tifdwarf Grass is used. These species of grass are durable and require reduced water consumption, resulting in lower maintenance costs.

Waste management systems in the complex also ensure that residual waste is properly segregated and handled by an accredited third-party collector. Whenever possible, waste is diverted away from the landfill through composting and recycling programs.

Soon, single-use plastics will no longer be part of Tagaytay Highlands, as the company has started encouraging members and guests to use refillable glass bottles, instead of disposable water bottles. Old air-conditioning units have been replaced by more efficient inverter-type models. Tagaytay Highlands also operates an electricity-run cable car and funicular train as eco-friendly alternative modes of transportation.

Apart from these, Tagaytay Highlands exerts effort at preventing depletion of its water resources. It complies with environmental regulations as it manages its water system. The company also conducts periodic preventive maintenance to keep its wells and attendant pipes clean and fully functional. Opportunities to recycle water are seized through rainwater harvesting systems within the estate. On top of all these, water levels are routinely monitored to employ best practices in optimizing water use at the golf course and common areas.

Given the possible impact of Taal Volcano, Tagaytay Highlands constantly monitors volcanic activity and evaluates risks resulting not just from eruptions but also from landslides, biodiversity threats, and natural environment phenomena that may negatively impact its communities.

On socio-economic development, Tagaytay Highlands provides jobs and skills development opportunities by hiring most of its employees from surrounding local communities. It also partners with Filipino concessionaires to meet the food requirements of its patrons. At Pick and Pay, Tagaytay Highlands’ organic farm, local farmers in the area tend to its variety of organic fruits and vegetables. They are harvested as a resource for local food for its residents and Club members and as ingredients for some of Tagaytay Highlands’ food and beverage outlets.

Tagaytay Highlands builds self-sufficient host communities in its home province of Batangas. The company helps close the gap in basic social services by providing these host communities with better access to public education, health services, and farming livelihood programs. In one host community, the company has installed a water pump and conducted drinking water testing that benefited over 250 households.

In its own themed communities, Tagaytay Highlands dedicates 40 percent of developable land to common areas. This means the ground cover consists of native and low-maintenance plants and trees that protect and promote biodiversity.

Tagaytay Highlands’ communities also have wellness and accessibility facilities such as jogging and walking paths, access ramps for the differently abled, and parks and children’s play areas made from upcycled materials.

Sustainability has remained at the core of Tagaytay Highlands’ vision, knowing how vital it is for institutions to nurture and preserve what we have for future generations.

Finally, the development strictly adheres to sanitation procedures and safety protocols to protect its homeowners, members, and guests. Its property management has likewise proven to be highly reliable in delivering quick-crisis responses during adverse natural events.

TV5 will premiere "PAANO ANG PASKO?" on November 23!

If you're looking for a nice and promising teleserye to watch this holiday season. Look no more for "Paano ang Pasko" is top billed by a powerhouse cast.

Please block off your schedule on November 23 at 9PM  and tune in on TV5. This is headlined by my favorite actresses Maricel Laxa, Julia Clarete and the up and coming award winning actor Elijah Canlas.

Just when most of the traditional Christmas events and specials have been put on hold because of the pandemic, TV5 will premiere "PAANO ANG PASKO?", a star-studded Christmas serye that is tailor made for the times. Starring some of the most promising and biggest names in the Philippine entertainment industry, "PAANO ANG PASKO?" is created by Palanca Hall of Famer Jun Robles Lana and directed by Enrico Quizon, Ricky Davao and Perci Intalan.

This special drama series revolves around a family’s unprecedented holiday gathering and how old wounds and struggles threaten to dampen the supposed joyous occasion. The series assembles a powerhouse cast that marks the return to television drama of two award winning actresses: Urian winner Maricel Laxa who plays Faith, the loving matriarch who is about to discover a long kept family secret, and Cinemalaya winner Julia Clarete who plays Love, the eldest daughter whose past is coming back to haunt not just her but her entire family.

A familiar lead in most top rating teleseryes, Beauty Gonzalez plays Hope, the second daughter that has a past with her sister's husband. Young actor Elijah Canlas also stars in his first teleserye after winning Best Actor at the 17th Asian Film Festival in Rome and at the 43rd Urian Awards. He takes on the role of Noel, the troubled grandson who is about to discover the truth about his lineage.

Alongside these remarkable talents are the veteran actors Ricky Davao and Allan Paule, with Ejay Falcon, John Sweet Lapus, Matt Evans, Danita Paner, Devon Seron, Cedrick Juan, Ace Ismael and introducing Justine Buenaflor.

Viewers were given a preview of the serye through a music video of “Pasko Na Sinta Ko” performed by Jona, posted on the IdeaFirst and TV5 social media channels. It has since garnered hundreds of thousands of views and excitement among Filipino viewers.

Produced by The IdeaFirst Company for Cignal Entertainment "PAANO ANG PASKO?" premieres this November 23, Monday to Friday at 9:00 PM on TV5.

Darren Espanto keeps the Holiday tradition alive by spreading kindness and joy this festive season

The isolating nature of the pandemic has left us yearning for human connection, disrupting our daily lives on an unprecedented scale and forever changing the way we interact with one another. Its uncertainty has not only instilled fear and anxiety, but also forced us to participate in a game of risk roulette, where everyone tries to survive a global health crisis that knows no end or time, and outwit an invisible enemy through strategic measures that align with the new normal.

But Darren Espanto wants us to believe that love will always be our guiding light even in the most difficult of times. The accomplished recording star is optimistic about using his voice as a catalyst to spark hope and inspire others to make a positive difference—all in the spirit of Christmas. He wants to keep the Holiday tradition alive by spreading kindness and joy this festive season, but also wants to see it with a renewed perspective: that the cherished holiday traditions are more than just about sumptuous feasts. It’s also about a celebration of new beginnings and unwavering hope of much better days ahead, an opportunity to encourage everyone to be there for one another even when the going gets tough.

“This year, there’s no other way to celebrate Christmas but to be grateful for the simple things that life has to offer amid trying, challenging times,” Darren Espanto shares in a statement. “More than ever, this gives us a chance to strengthen our faith and love for one another, and protect the family and loved ones whose lives matter more than anything else in this world. This Christmas is different from what we’ve been accustomed to for sure, but I’m positive that we’ll emerge stronger, better individuals after this crisis unfolds. For as long as we have each other, no grueling situation can hold us down.”

Our capacity to bounce back from an adverse event is something that Filipinos have always expertly done after a recession, personal catastrophe or a storm, and this is something that Darren Espanto expertly tackles on his new single “Believe in Christmas” as he sings an anthem of hope amidst brokenness and frailty.

“Believe in Christmas” isn’t just your typical Holiday anthem wrapped in high spirits and effervescent glow. Written by industry respected songwriter, Tiny Corpuz, the song’s message aims to spark the light of hope in a world full of dimly lit spirits especially going into the Christmas season. It acknowledges the current time and situation that we live in, but as the lyrics put it, “When love shines through, there’s always something more: a new season, a new reason, a spark of hope and joy to believe in.”

For his part, Darren interprets the material with utmost care and sensitivity, singing like his life depends on it, and fleshing out the song’s nuances with every fiber and being. The Canadian-Filipino recording sensation has always been known for his incredible technique and soulful singing, but on “Believe in Christmas,” he has also developed a deeper understanding of the narrative, perhaps because it feels closer to home, and it doesn’t feel removed from what’s happening in the real world.

This time, he’s also more involved in the recording process as a vocal producer, ensuring that he’s in top shape to get the best vocal performance possible. “Believe In Christmas” composer and overall producer Tiny Corpuz attests to Darren’s potential as a multi-faceteted artist with so much talent in his hand. “Darren is a total performer, he sings, dances, even acts, and now exploring on songwriting and production. A true artist knows what he wants. We’ve witnessed him grow. He’ll definitely go places with that kind of determination and passion.”

TikTok Enhances Privacy with New Family Pairing Options

TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile videos, is enhancing privacy and browsing options for families on the app by building on its existing Family Pairing features.

As more families continue to turn to internet platforms like TikTok to stay entertained, informed, and connected, parents now have the option to manage their teen's online experience by linking their TikTok account to their teen's, and setting discoverability and safety controls. Developed for parents, this suite of new features is intended to jumpstart digital wellbeing and online safety education for families.

The new features include:

Search: This allows parents to directly control whether a teen can search for content, users, hashtags, or sounds on the app.

Comments: Parents may decide who can leave comments on a teen's videos - Either all users, friends only, or no one.

Discoverability: This lets you regulate whether your teen's account is private or public. With a private account, your teen can choose who can see their content. When the account is set to public, anyone can search for your teen’s profile, and view their content.

Liked videos: Here, you decide who can view the videos your teen liked.

"Parenting a teen's digital life can be daunting and many parents feel as though they're playing catch-up when it comes to the latest technology and apps their teens use. Working with our community and industry partners, we are committed to helping facilitate important conversations within families about internet safety," said Arjun Narayan, Director Trust & Safety, TikTok, Asia Pacific. "Family Pairing was developed to help parents build upon their online safety education and define the experience that is best for their families."

Family Pairing, which allows a parent to link their TikTok account to their teen's, already offers features such as Screen Time Management, Restricted Mode, and Direct Message regulation to provide parents with insight and control over how their teens use TikTok.

Over the past year, TikTok has taken steps to improve and enhance its teams, policies, controls and educational resources. Along with its tools for families, the platform continues to strengthen its youth safety and well-being policies. Just recently, TikTok added more guidelines and resources to support body positivity within the community, and remove harmful content such as hateful ideologies. Sending of images or videos in comments or messages is also not allowed on TikTok, because studies have linked the spread of child sexual abuse material to messaging on apps, especially those with encryption.

TikTok has developed global partnerships to protect against child exploitation and to remove such content, terminate accounts, and report cases to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and local law enforcement agencies. Protecting minors – online and offline – is highly important and requires collaboration between platforms, governments, and child safety organizations. This is why TikTok supports the implementation of the Voluntary Principles to Counter Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, which offers a framework that can be consistently applied across sectors and services to respond to changing behaviors and protect young people.

For families who want to learn more about online safety, TikTok has created several resources, including its Youth Portal, Parents page, and educational safety videos. TikTok remains committed to the security of its community – especially the youth – and will continue to develop resources, tools, and policies as it aims for the highest level of safety.

Healing benefits of the yun-zhi mushroom for those with medical conditions

In 2018, lifestyle diseases or noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) remained as the top causes of mortality in Filipinos, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority, with Ischemic heart diseases, Neoplasms, Cerebrovascular diseases (including stroke and aneurysm), Pneumonia, and Diabetes Mellitus as the top 5 causes. These are diseases that are known to be correlated with one’s lifestyle and habits. The good news is that there are ways to boost one’s immune system that may be able to increase your protection from these diseases.

One way to give your immune system a boost, together with switching to a healthy diet and exercising, is through medicinal herbs and food supplements. One of the most sought-after herbal supplements in recent years are those made of the Yun-zhi mushroom or turkey tail mushroom, a legendary mushroom whose effects have been known for at least 2,000 years. Ancient medicinal records would describe its effects to bring invigorating vital energy and rejuvenation after prolonged consumption. Its benefits have attracted the attention of modern science and has sprouted extensive clinical trials to ascertain its effectivity and benefits, making it one of the most heavily researched mushrooms in the world.

In 2017, Dyna Drug Corporation launched NeuCell, a single plant extract formulation that is made with 250 mg of Yun-zhi Mushroom, which was also described by early Chinese texts as a “godly” medicine because of its remarkable health-promoting properties. Here are just some benefits of NeuCell, especially for those with preexisting medical conditions.

Boosts your immune system

In a random clinical trial, NeuCell was proven to stabilize white blood cell count in participants, making it a great supplement to boost the immune system, especially of those undergoing chemo- and radiotherapies. It also helps to reduce side effects of these treatments such as fatigue, poor appetite, pain, nausea, vomiting, and sweating.

Supports the respiratory system

The Yun-zhi mushroom is also known to improve the functions of the lungs. In traditional Chinese medicine, this highly researched and respected medicinal fungus has been used to treat lung diseases and to promote a healthy upper respiratory system.

Strengthens healthy liver function

The Yun-zhi mushroom was found to help detoxify the liver, helping promote overall liver health. It was also found to improve and strengthen the functions of the liver.

Promotes vitality

In a clinical study on the anti-fatigue properties of the Yun-zhi mushroom published on the International Journal of Medical Sciences, it was also seen that they can improve athletic performance by reducing fatigue. In the Compendium of Materia Medica published by Li Shizhen during the Ming dynasty, he described the effects of the Yun-zhi mushroom as “invigorating vital energy, and stimulating longevity and rejuvenation after prolonged consumption”. For people undergoing chemotherapy, NeuCell can help lessen fatigue as a symptom of the treatment.

NeuCell is highly recommended for people with existing medical conditions or undergoing chemotherapy in order to keep up their immune system. The results of a double-blind random clinical trial of NeuCell showed an effectivity rate between 83% and 86% for the participants. Still, anyone can take it as a food supplement to boost the immune system and to detoxify the body. For people undergoing chemotherapy, the recommended dosage is 4 to 5 capsules after meals, while those taking it as a food supplement are recommended to take 2 to 4 capsulesdaily.

NeuCell is FDA approved and is currently available at goodwill.market for only P720.00.
