The event will be freely accessible to the public to help and inform more people.

Ronald Del Castillo, PsyD, MPH,--a psychologist, consultant on social and behavior change communication, and a former associate professor of mental health, public health and social policy--will talk about protecting our mental well-being and how we can effectively cope with stress during the ongoing pandemic.

"Taking care of our mental well-being is as important as our physical health. As the pandemic continues to take a toll on us, we need to talk about mental health more so we can learn how to cope with stress in a positive way. There is a pressing need to further normalize having conversations about it so people who need help can immediately be heard and seek support," said Ronald Del Castillo, PsyD, MPH.

According to the latest e-Conomy SEA Report, Filipinos were spending 4.0 hours online (for personal use) pre-COVID-19, which spiked to 5.2 hours at the height of lockdowns last year--the highest across the SEA region--and now rests at 4.9 hours per day.

TV5 launches “Iba sa 5,” station; ID features different celebrities and diverse personalities who now thrive on the channel

At a time when most have been forced to shut themselves in and many businesses have had no choice but to close down, TV5 has redefined television dynamics by opening their doors to talents and creatives from different networks and giving them a new home. “Iba sa 5,” TV5’s station ID which launched yesterday, features the different celebrities and diverse personalities who now thrive on the channel. Among the slew of stars seen in the video are Maja Salvador, Noel Comia Jr., Empoy Marquez, Billy Crawford, Matteo Guidicelli, Maine Mendoza, Paolo Ballesteros, Cristine Reyes, Herbert Bautista, McCoy de Leon, Randy Santiago, K Brosas, Rey Valera, Alex Gonzaga, Xian Lim, Yassi Pressman, John Estrada, Ellen Adarna, Jay-R, Luchi Cruz-Valdes, Cheryl Cosim, Gretchen Ho, Marga Vargas, Paolo Bediones and Raffy Tulfo. They, and many more, have all come together to produce quality entertainment that brings joy to the viewers.

Maine Mendoza hosts the upcoming PoPinoy, a talent search for the best Pinoy-pop group

The station ID features a catchy jingle composed by Jeff Arcilla, the man behind "Apat na Buwang Pasko" and the original singer of the World Youth Day Song, "Tell the World of His Love."  TV5’s highly sing-along-able tune is upbeat and cheerful, to evoke how TV5 is the Filipinos’ happy place, where they can take a fun break from the challenges of the current situation.

Iba-iba, dito makikita. Iba-iba, dito magsasama-sama.

The new line, “Iba sa 5,” doesn’t just mean offering something different, but something for different kinds of people. The ad agency, Grey Philippines, spent months collaborating with TV5 executives to develop a reinvigorated campaign that conveys the channel’s new thrust. Dino Laurena, Chief Operating Officer of Media5, explains, "The concept behind it is to showcase the wide range of programs and genres that TV5 now provides the Filipino audience. Since TV5's transition back to entertainment, it has now become a one-stop channel for all types of content—dramas, gameshows, talent shows, variety, movies, series, news, and sports. Viewers can just tune in to TV5 and find all these there."

Whether solo binge-watching with a bucket of popcorn, having a barkada sports night, or spending a relaxing Sunday with the whole family, TV5 caters to audiences of all demographics. Those who always want to be in the know can get their first dose of the day's news from Frontline sa Umaga, then be the first to get the information they need from the earliest primetime news program, Frontline Pilipinas

Because Pinoys are known for their love of both music and comedy, they can sing and laugh in equal measure, with the videoke kantawanan ng bansa, Sing Galing. And for feel-good vibes and maximum kilig, there are lighthearted dramas from here and abroad.

Some of the other programs’ Filipinos can enjoy now or look forward to are:

Noel Comia Jr., Maja Salvador, and Empoy lead stars of the hit Niña Niño

Niña Niño – A dramedy series about two siblings leading a life of petty crime to survive, who eventually discover redemption in the form of a life-changing miracle.

Rolling In It Philippines – The local edition of one of the UK’s most popular game shows, where contestants team up with celebrities for a shot at the ultimate cash prize.

PoPinoy – This cutting-edge talent show will follow the entire journey of boy bands & girl groups, as they train to become worthy of bringing Pinoy Pop to the global stage.

Herbert Bautista and Mccoy De Leon star in Puto reboot

Puto – Herbert Bautista, who played the hero puto vendor from the hit ‘80s movie, returns—30 years later! He’s now father to Uno, a bullied teen who realizes he is half-dwende.

Di Na Muli – This romantic drama, top-billed by Julia Barretto, follows the story of a young woman with the ability to see the lifespan of people whenever she holds their hands.

Aside from these original new programs, TV5 is reaching out to an even wider audience by allowing fans of ABS-CBN shows Ang Probinsiyano, ASAP Natin ‘To, and  FPJ Da King, to continue watching their old favorites, as well as watch its new dramas Huwag Kang Mangamba, and Init sa Magdamag!

Sports has long been one of TV5’s strengths, and now there’s all the more reason for sports fans to tune in. After a brief hiatus due to the pandemic, the country’s #1 sport is back, as TV5 airs the two top basketball leagues—PBA and NBA

Sing Galing Jukebosses: Ronnie Liang, Jessa Zaragoza, and Rey Valera

Iba, iba, iba sa 5!

Laurena encapsulates the channel’s campaign: “Iba-iba ang mapapanood mo dito. Iba-ibang viewers ang mag-e-enjoy dito. Iba-iba rin ang mga artista at content creator na makikita mo dito.”

Emphasizing the network's open call for other artists and production houses to come and create magic with TV5, he reiterated, “We have said this before—our doors are open to those who want to work with us. Our collaborations with great artists and creative minds in the industry allow us to offer something fresh, new, and unexpected. That is what makes us truly IBA.”

A former asin vendor from San Fernando, La Union emerged as the lucky winner of Cebuana Lhuillier’ year-long International Payout Cash Panalo Promo

A former asin vendor who used to peddle her wares along the streets of San Fernando, La Union emerged as the lucky winner of Cebuana Lhuillier’ year-long International Payout Cash Panalo Promo. Rosita Guerrero Nisperos, 62 years old, emerged victorious out of millions of entries to take home the One Million Pesos grand prize tax-free.

Cebuana Lhuillier International Payout Cash Panalo, which ran from March to December 2020 in all 2,500 Cebuana Lhuillier branches nationwide, is the company’s way of showing its appreciation to the millions of OFWs working hard across the globe, by providing accessible financial services to their beloved families back in the Philippines.

Cebuana Lhuillier International Payout Cash Panalo winner Rosita Guerrero Nisperos recently received her winnings from Cebuana Lhuillier La Union Area Head Alan Paul Ramirez (left) and Deputy Area Head Jade Eulalio (rightmost). Joining her is husband Vuenabentura Nisperos.

“OFWs have always served as the unsung heroes of our local economy, and have always served as the strength and backbone for many of their families here in our country. At Cebuana Lhuillier, we are happy to serve as a partner in ensuring that the fruits of their hard work and labor, their hard-earned money, will be received quickly, safely, and efficiently by their families in the Philippines, no matter where they may be,” Cebuana Lhuillier president & CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier said.

Nisperos, a long-time Ka-Cebuana, regularly transacts at the Cebuana Lhuillier La Union 2 branch to receive remittances from a daughter who is currently an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia. Part of the remittance would go to Nisperos and her 65-year-old husband’s daily needs, including maintenance meds to treat her asthma, while the rest would be handed over to her daughter’s family.

For a long time, both husband and wife worked various jobs in order to place food on the table and to raise their four children, two of which now work abroad. Rosita would peddle asin, plying the streets of San Fernando, while her husband used to work part-time in construction sites and neighboring farms. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, both had no choice but to stay indoors and rely on the remittance sent by their children from abroad for their living expenses.

A longtime client of Cebuana Lhuillier, Nisperos relied on her trusted branch for all her financial needs. Since she is the only one in her family who had a valid ID, she would visit the branch once a month, sometimes even more, usually to get remittances intended for various family members and even in-laws, “More than ten years na ako kliyente ng Cebuana Lhuillier dito sa San Fernando. Mabilis ang serbisyo at mababait ang mga guards at empleyado. Inuuna din nila ang mga senior citizens. Kaya mas gusto kong dito nagpupunta,” Nisperos remarked. Her frequent visits to the branch earned her multiple raffle tickets which qualified her to the then-ongoing Cash Panalo promo for international remittance. One of the raffle tickets for a remittance worth P15,000 served as her lucky break in clinching the One Million Pesos grand prize.

Nisperos enthused that her winnings is about to change her life and that of her family’s. First on her list is to fix their small home and then start her dream business, a store which she will manage with her kids. During the awarding of the cash prize, Nisperos was in tears as she relates her plans post-win, “Sobrang hirap na hirap po kami sa buhay. Madami po kaming pagsubok na pinagdaanan at nagsumikap po kami para lang makaraos sa araw-araw. Ngayon po, sa tulong ng Cebuana Lhuillier, mababago ko na po ang buhay naming mag-asawa pati na din po ng aming mga anak. Maraming, maraming salamat po, hindi ko ito makakalimutan.”

On top of fixing their home and starting a business, Nisperos made it a point to still save for a rainy day. She also made sure to deposit a small part of her winnings to her Cebuana Lhuillier micro savings account, which will come handy as she begins life anew.

Meanwhile, to further heat up summer, Cebuana Lhuillier recently launched, “Winner TECHs All,” an electronic raffle promo open to all clients who will claim their international remittance sent through partners abroad in any of Cebuana Lhuillier’s 2,500 branches nationwide. With as much as One Million Pesos to be given away in prizes, at stake for the monthly raffle include 40 smart phones and 40 tablets; as well as 40 e-Scooters, plus PHP5,000 cash each for the final monthly raffle.

For more information, head to www.cebuanalhuillier.com or visit the Cebuana Lhuillier page on Facebook. Promo runs until June 30, 2021.

McDonald’s Philippines joins "Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat" campaign to raise awareness and education among Filipinos to boost vaccine confidence

With the arrival of more doses of vaccine into the country and with the need to encourage more people to get inoculated, McDonald’s Philippines joins different members of the private sector in a campaign to raise awareness and education among Filipinos to boost vaccine confidence.

In a press briefing of Ingat Angat, a private sector-led campaign that aims to re-start the Philippine economy safely, McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO, Kenneth S. Yang expressed the company’s support in participating in the “Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat” multimedia campaign which was recently launched. Ingat Angat is led by Taskforce T3--a multi-sectoral public-private consortium working closely with the Department of Health (DOH), the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19, and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to manage the COVID-19 situation in the Philippines.

“In McDonald’s Philippines, safety is always an integral part of our operating culture and will always be. Our M Safe program is a testament to this. The health and safety of our people will always be a priority, as we are grounded on the principle that when we keep our employees safe, we keep our customers safe,” says Yang. “With the arrival of vaccines, we will double down our efforts in supporting the government’s program towards the vaccination of more Filipinos. We have started by first informing and educating our employees on the importance of vaccines, as an additional layer of protection  to keep themselves safe first so they can keep their family, co-workers and customers safe always.”

McDonald’s Philippines continues to support its employees with regular RT-PCR testing conducted to the company’s front-liners, the distribution of care kits, and strict implementation of M Safe protocols to ensure a safe working environment for the employees, and a safe McDonald’s experience for customers.

Earlier this year, McDonald's also announced that it has purchased close to 100,000 doses of vaccine to be given to its employees for free.

“The private sector plays a very big role in supporting the government’s vaccination program. From ensuring that our own people are vaccinated, to using our voice and influence to encourage our consumers to do the same. It is only through getting more Filipinos vaccinated at the soonest time possible that our country can recover and rebuild.” Yang added

M Safe dine-in with McDonald’s

The launch of the Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat vaccine confidence campaign comes after the recent announcement of the government on the new classification for the ‘NCR Plus’. Beginning May 15 until May 31, Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal will be placed under “General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions”.

With the new classification, the aforementioned cities will be able to allow restaurants to continue to accommodate outdoor dining at limited capacity, but will also be able to allow more consumers to dine-in indoors with 20% venue capacity. This will allow Filipinos to have more ways to enjoy their favorite meals from McDonald’s apart from Drive-Thru, and Take-out, on top of delivery.

Customers who would want to enjoy their favorite meals are assured a high standard of safety with stringent M Safe protocols in place. Through M Safe, store employees are empowered to be safe to ensure the health and safety of customers especially during this period.

Here’s a guide to picking the right TV that matches the demands of homes and lifestyles, today and tomorrow

The past year has been a reminder of the value that TVs bring to our homes and lifestyles. Once regarded as a device purely for watching TV and playing video games, they now double up as conference rooms, fitness hubs, and even a space for virtual socializing as we look towards a new normal in 2021 and beyond.

Perhaps now is the best time for you to consider investing in a new TV for your living spaces, with the launch of Samsung’s latest Lifestyle TV innovations

Here’s a guide to picking the right TV that matches the demands of homes and lifestyles, today and tomorrow

For art connoisseurs looking to elevate room aesthetics with a statement piece: The Frame

Do you miss visiting art museums and exhibitions? What if there was a TV that can display an ever-evolving collection of renowned artworks?

Coming in sizes from 43”, 55”, and 65”, The Frame can be used as a blank canvas for virtual artwork. In Art Mode, The Frame can bring over 1,400 pieces of virtual art works from leading art houses, content creators and world-class museums, straight to your living room. Imagine being inspired by an impressionist masterpiece from Vincent Van Gogh today, and then moving photography from Steve McCurry the next day.

Additionally, The Frame’s Adaptive Picture can intelligently adjust screen brightness and color based on the lighting conditions in your house, accurately depicting the color fidelity of the artwork on display.

With attachable bezel options in four colors and two different customizable styles — Modern and Beveled — there’s an option to match the theme of any type of room, aesthetically. The 2021 version’s frame is about halfway thinner[1] compared to previous iterations, mirroring the depth of a traditional picture frame.

But apart from displaying virtual artworks, you can turn The Frame into a full-functioning TV to watch your favorite shows, play video games, make conference calls, and even do a virtual workout session right in your living room.

For those who value personal taste and constant design evolution at home: The Serif

The home is often a reflection of one’s self, and that includes your choices in TVs. For those with a keen eye for design, The Serif is a perfect match.

Recognized for its iconic 360° design, The Serif is a portable TV that is beautiful from any angle. Co-created with French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, The Serif comes in two sizes: 43” and 55”, each with a detachable stand to give you the flexibility to display it however you want, and instantly add style to your home.

The Serif features Ambient Mode+, where the screen can mimic the background of the wall behind it when turned off or display the time, weather details, and more. You can also seamlessly play music or stream content with Tap View just by tapping your smartphone on The Serif.

In addition to its portability, The Serif features lifelike 100% Color Volume. Thanks to Samsung’s Quantum Dot Technology, which delivers a billion shades of color to bring out the best of your TV program – down to the tiniest detail.

For those who are looking for the best immersive experience: The Premiere

Nothing beats watching a movie in the cinema and listening to live music. Now, you can bring that home with The Premiere. With screen sizes up to 130”, it’s the perfect big screen TV experience for the whole family.

With this 4K triple laser projector[2], watch anything from movies to concerts in cinematic quality from the comfort of your own couch. No need for any additional equipment as The Premiere has built-in 4.2Ch 40W speakers and subwoofers. Just place it a few inches from a wall or screen to get movie night started.

Not sure what to watch? Not a problem – The Premiere comes with all the features of a Smart TV, with pre-installed apps such as Netflix, YouTube, and the web browser.

Jollibee is releasing this heart-warming digital short film "A Message from the Future"

In the future when we look back on today, how would we describe the pandemic? What version of history would we tell?

This is the theme of Jollibee’s first internationally produced film developed by BBH Singapore, which reinterprets the brand’s tagline of “Joy of Family” in the context of the current pandemic.

When the pandemic broke out, everyone was unprepared and had to face an uncomfortable reality – that life as we knew it changed overnight. It was painful, scary and upended lives around the world. Yet it is in our darkest hours when we see what’s most dear to us - our families. From physically spending every waking hour together in lockdown to long video calls across continents, our family was what got us through. This was the year of the pandemic, but it was also the year of the family.

The 3-minute-long campaign film titled “A Message from the Future”, shot in New York and directed by award-winning director Law Chen, tells a perspective-changing story about the times we are currently living in, which will leave you feeling grateful for the time you have with your family, and how through it all it is the Joy of family that gets us through all the hardships.

In a departure from the brand’s usual campaigns, the current film adopts a sombre and realistic tone as it goes in the future to record a nostalgic and emotional story of a migrant Filipino family based in the US. Set in 2060, the film shows a grandfather recounting his memory of the pandemic to his grandchildren. The story starts off on a bleak note but gives way to hope and joyful family moments that could have only happened because the family spent more time together, a transition highlighted through the film's progression from black & white shots to coloured ones.

Francis Flores, JFC’s Philippines Country Marketing head and Jollibee PH Marketing head, said: “Jollibee as a brand has been all about the joy of family, and while in our current times it may be difficult to focus solely on that aspect, we realize just the same that there’s a silver lining in all this.  Coming from a powerful truth that we are spending time with our families more than ever, it has never happened before and may never happen again – we wanted this campaign to acknowledge the grim reality of the current pandemic but still give a positive message of hope. It’s all about appreciating these moments with them and finding the ultimate Joy with family. Our families have been a comforting factor for most of us in these tough times and we wanted everyone to be grateful for that.”

Jollibee is releasing this heart-warming digital short film as the grand culmination of the brand’s new Family Thanksgiving Month initiative. “The Family Thanksgiving Month is not just a celebration here at home. We’re hoping that all families, whether Filipinos living abroad or other nationalities, will be inspired to start a tradition of expressing their appreciation for their loved ones,” Flores added.

You can watch the video on Jollibee’s official Facebook page and Jollibee Studios’ YouTube channel
