Shopee launches Shopee Pets

Online shopping helps a lot of Filipinos de-stress and unwind. Aside from the retail therapy shoppers can enjoy, Shopee is set to make users’ in-app experience even more entertaining and engaging with the launch of Shopee Pets. Inspired by a popular mobile game during the 90s, Shopee Pets allows players to redeem exciting rewards by nurturing their virtual pets. Aside from big discounts and exclusive brand offers, Shopee Pets is one of the many exciting things to look forward to during this 3.15 Consumer Day Sale.

Shopee Pets is a life simulation game where players can help their pets evolve through daily activities. Players can level up their pet’s XP (experience points) and unlock diamond points throughout the game by feeding, cleaning, and playing with them. Accumulated points can be used to redeem rewards at the Points Redemption Store. Players can take care of their pets all day, and once their pet reaches level 50, they can choose another pet and repeat the life cycle. To level up your pet and gain diamond points, players can do the following:

Social Interactions: Sharing is caring! With social interactions between players, they can receive shared items that can increase their pet’s happiness bar.

Schooling: You can let your pet attend school once it reaches level 4, so they can join class games, and engage in other activities like quizzes and races to achieve diamond points.

Grooming: Keep pets squeaky clean by dragging the soap bar on top of the pet. All cleaning supplies help increase XP and its happiness and cleanliness levels.

Feeding: Make sure your pet is well-fed to maintain its happiness levels. There are three types of pet food and paid food gives your pet higher XP growth and fullness points.

Playing: Keep your pets happy by playing with them on a regular basis. There are three ways to play with your pet:

-       Dance to the Music: Follow the beat to increase your pet’s happiness bar. Each song consists of three rounds and will speed up at the end of each round.

-       Jump on a Trampoline: Drag the trampoline left and right to make sure your pet stays on it and earns more points.

-       Score a Goal in Soccer: Score a goal and increase your pet’s happiness and XP level. Each goal has a corresponding amount of XP.

Remember that you can choose your pet at the start of each cycle and also look forward to dressing them up in adorable clothes—from head to toe! You can also start doing improvements on your pet’s home by level 25, unlocking new themes, and gaining access to upgrades.

During the launch of Shopee Pets on March 3, players can look forward to amazing prizes which include Shopee coins, coins cashback vouchers, and other products such as a Xiaomi Air Purifier, an O'Healthy Electric Juicer Blender, an Acer Aspire 3 laptop, and many more. One lucky player also stands a chance to win ₱100,000 via ShopeePay from March 12 to 16.

Shopee Pets joins a list of other fun in-app games such as Pera Panalo, Shopee Candy, Shopee Farm, Shopee Bubble, and Shopee Claw that have become the favorites of shoppers on the platform. To further enhance the overall online shopping experience, ShopeePay, Shopee's mobile wallet, offers exclusive perks and savings such as daily free shipping and cashback vouchers. Users can enjoy 20% cashback when they scan to pay at ShopeePay’s partner merchants such as Potato Corner, Puregold, National Bookstore, The Generics Pharmacy, and more until the end of March. Users can also checkout ShopeePay ₱1 Deals and redeem discounts in stores.

On 3.15 Consumer Day, users can take advantage of 50% off on load across all networks and up to 100% cashback on bills payment. With ShopeePay’s Free transfers feature, users won't have to worry about transfer fees when they send money to any bank or to any Shopee user. The Miss World Philippines Organization (MWPO) hosted a grand official send-off at the luxurious B Hotel

The Miss World Philippines Organization (MWPO) hosted a grand official send-off at the luxurious B Hotel in Quezon City last Saturday, March 5, for three of its reigning queens who will soon be competing in their respective global pageants within the next few weeks.

On top of the list is reigning Miss World Philippines 2021 Tracy Maureen Perez, who flies back to San Juan, Puerto Rico in the hope of continuing her winning streak on the coronation night of the 70th edition of the Miss World 2021 pageant scheduled on March 16 (March 17, 8:00 am, Manila time). It will be remembered that the Miss World Organization issued its last-minute decision to reschedule the pageant just a few hours before the December 16 coronation night, due to the alarming and unforeseen surge of Covid-19 cases in Puerto Rico at that time.

To keen pageant watchers, the decision seemed anti-climactic for Tracy, who was then clearly ahead of her game—having just assured herself of a Top 40 spot after winning the Head-toHead and Beauty With A Purpose challenges.

Nonetheless, the Cebuana beauty has no regrets about the decision.

She rationalizes, “It could be frustrating for some, but | tried my best to compose and calm myself, ‘coz it’s something | couldn’t control. I’ll just take it as a blessing that I’ll have more time to prepare.”

Aside from Tracy, Miss Eco Philippines 2021 Kathleen Paton hies off to Cairo, Egypt on March 6 to compete in the 7th edition of the Miss Eco International 2021 pageant, to be held from March 6-18, with the coronation night slated for March 16 (March 17, 12:30 a.m. Manila time).

For her part, Miss Environment Philippines 2021 Michelle Arceo feels more than ready to compete in the 1st edition of the Miss Environment International pageant scheduled from March 21-April 2 in Mumbai, India, with pageant proper scheduled on April 2, 5:00pm (ST/April 2, 7:30pm Manila time.

Miss World Philippines National Director Arnold Vegafria is optimistic about the trio’s impending global conquest.

He says, “With the normalization of the global health situation, | am very confident that Tracy, Kathleen and Michelle can wave our flag proudly and outperform their competitors every step of the way. In Tracy’s case, the odds are already in her favor, based on her very impressive prepageant performance, so we can only hope and pray that she remains in top fighting form.”

Aside from its send-off for the three queens, the MWPO also revealed a teaser for its revitalized slogan, “Exceptionally Empowered Filipina.”

More than just being a celebration of exceptional beauty, substance and purpose, the Miss World Philippines pageant has stood out for championing more relevant advocacies, which have empowered its winning queens to harness their collective energies in furthering their advocacies, which have so far included such relevant issues as cyberbullying, mental health, suicide prevention, gender equality, environmental awareness and many others.

Taking its cue from Miss World Organization founder Julia Morley’s inspiring precedent, the Miss World Philippines Organization hopes to further its noble cause for women empowerment by writing its own unique narrative for its revitalized brand campaign.

To date, the brand makeover has already captured the attention of keen pageant fans and netizens online. As evinced by its eye-catching fashion templates on its social media pages, the Miss World PH organization has obviously rewritten its style bible, utilizing slicker layouts and more engaging content.

Vegafria proudly asserts, “The past pandemic has given us ample time to rethink our strategies, and we feel that a rebrand can do so much to heighten our imaging and marketing potentials, and I’m very proud that our team has churned out a creative synergy that should take us to even unprecedented heights this year.”

The organization’s auspicious rebranding comes close on the heels of its recent announcement for the search for this year’s batch of aspiring queens, with final screening slated for April 19 and coronation night on May 29.

The “Exceptionally Empowered Filipina” brand campaign also coincides with the celebration of International Women’s Month this March.

AirAsia PH launches Vaccinated Travel Lane for Manila-Singapore flights

Guests traveling between the Philippines and Singapore will now have a much more seamless, convenient and safer travel experience as AirAsia Philippines launches the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) for its Manila-Singapore flights. Through VTL, tourists may visit the Lion City sans the need to undergo quarantine, making a more seamless travel experience possible. The first AirAsia VTL flight will depart Manila on 5th March 2022.

AirAsia Philippines is expecting to fly business and leisure travelers through the MNL-SIN VTL until end-March. The world’s best low-cost airline currently flies 1x weekly to Singapore with flights scheduled every Saturday. It is expected to increase the frequency in the near future, subject to approval from the regulating bodies.

AirAsia Philippines will operate designated VTL flights according to the following schedule:

Flight No

Route

Departure

Arrival

Z2 825

Manila (MNL) - Singapore (SIN)

08:00

11:40

Guests can book their flights to Singapore through the ‘Flights’ icon on the airasia Super App. Guests can also enjoy great value flights+hotel deals through the ‘SNAP’ icon on the Super App with savings up to 30% off. Those who prefer to book their hotels separately may check the ‘Hotels’ icon in the app and get an extra 10% off with promo code AAHOTEL10.

Only fully vaccinated travellers are eligible to travel via the Vaccinated Travel Lane to Singapore, and would need to meet  the entry requirements set by the Singapore Government. Through this, quarantine-free travel to and from Singapore and the Philippines is made possible.

AirAsia Head of Communications and Public Affairs Steve Dailisan shares:

“Our optimism for relaxed borders and a better COVID-19 situation in some of our key routes is now being realized. We have been preparing for this new reality in travel since the end of 2021, as reflected by our current growth in flight routes, capacity, and bookings; and programs such as VTL. Singapore has always been among the top goal destinations of Filipinos, and we are glad to make the travel to the Lion City easier and more convenient for our kababayans.”

The reopening of the Vaccinated Travel Lane to Singapore was announced by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) last February 17. This is expected to propel the tourism recovery of the country as it relaxes its borders to international travelers and as it reclaims its position as a global air hub.

The Singapore Ministry of Health also announced that they will start to ease protocols but reminded the public of the strict wearing of masks in public places.

AirAsia flights from Manila to Singapore and vice versa may be booked via the airasia Super App and website. Visit Singapore VTL safe travel page for more information about entry requirements into Singapore.

All AirAsia international flights will continue to operate at NAIA Terminal 3 while domestic flights will be transferred to NAIA Terminal 4 beginning 28 March 2022.

Turn summer at home into a fun bonding activity for everyone

Summer usually means heading to the beach or any outdoor destination, but families can also have fun when they’re at home. With a little creativity, imagination, and help from Samsung Digital Appliances, they can turn summer at home into a fun bonding activity for everyone.

Here are just some things families can do in the comfort of their own home:

1. Play outdoor games. It’s nice to soak in the sun every now and then. If families have space in their backyard, they can play fun relay races or even paintball.

A day outdoors means sweat and other stains, so it’s important to have a powerful washing machine to get clothes fresh and clean like the Washer Dryer Combo that uses Eco Bubble™ technology to efficiently clean clothes. Detergent is turned into bubbles, which quickly penetrates fabric to remove dirt while preserving its color and texture.

2. Make summer treats. A good way to bond with the family is through food. The Smart Oven makes it easy to prepare a feast with its six cooking functions. With just one space-saving device, it’s possible to roast chicken, air fry potato wedges, grill kebabs, steam dim sum, and even bake pies or cookies. A unique function is its fermentation feature, which can be used to prepare homemade yogurt and rising yeast dough.

Store all the food in the Family Hub Inverter Side By Side with SmartThings Connectivity that lets homeowners manage their Smart Appliances from the refrigerator’s FamilyBoard. It also has SpaceMax technology™ for more storage space inside with a sleek design, while maintaining great cooling performance.

3. Spend quality time in the living room. Make the living room a space where everyone can get together and spend quality time. Keep the space clean with the JetStick Vacuum Cleaner, a wireless vacuum that uses Jet Cyclone for outstanding suction power. The technology also separates fine dust particles from the home, resulting in cleaner air.

4. Relax after a long day. After a day of playing and cooking, it’s nice to relax and sit back with loved ones. To make the atmosphere cozy, turn up the air conditioner and grab some thick, comfortable blankets.

Families can stay cool with any of Samsung’s air conditioners, which offer different and unique features. The WindFree™ Premium Plus gently disperses air while capturing ultra-fine dust with its PM1.0 Filter. The Window-Type Inverter cools rooms 15% faster than non-inverter air conditioners. Meanwhile, the airflow of the Floor Standing Inverter and the 360 Cassette Air Conditioner can be customized. To keep the home feeling clean, the Air Purifier has a three-layer filter that traps larger dust particles, harmful gases, and up to 99.97% of ultra-fine dust.

Homeowners can now purchase all the home appliances they desire, including the Samsung Washer Dryer Combo, Air Purifier, Family Hub Refrigerator, Smart Oven, JetStickVacuum, Digital Inverter Window-Type Air Conditioner, WindFree Premium Inverter Air Conditioner, and Cassette 360.

A Net Zero IdeaNation: UPLB and Nestlé PH partner to generate sustainable solutions from the youth

Stronger typhoons and rising threats to biodiversity and food security are just some of the impacts of climate change that have become more evident in the Philippines over the years. Therefore, tackling climate change cannot wait and urgent action is needed across all sectors of society.

As a Kasambuhay ng Kalikasan, Nestlé Philippines is taking a leading role in tackling climate change in the country. Guided by Nestlé’s global ambition and roadmap of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, it is committed to source responsibly, transform its operations, and help shape a waste-future.

These three Net Zero focus areas are the central theme for Net Zero IdeaNation, a program launched by the University of the Philippines - Los Baños (UPLB) through the Department of Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship (DAME), and Nestlé Philippines to harness the potential of the youth towards climate action. The partnership was made official with a recently signed agreement between the two parties.

What is Net Zero IdeaNation?

Net Zero IdeaNation consists of two phases. The first phase will run throughout the second semester of Academic Year 2021-2022 during which students of the ABME 10 (Foundations of Entrepreneurship) course will be asked to generate innovative and sustainable solutions geared towards achieving net zero emissions. By the end of the course, the teams with the best concepts will be selected to proceed to the second phase of the competition in July 2022.

During the second phase, the winning teams will receive mentorship from industry experts to further develop their ideas. All will culminate through a pitching competition in which one team will be named the Nestlé Net Zero IdeaNation Winner.

“This undertaking will be an excellent mentoring opportunity for our students, that will further inspire them to become innovative and creative in helping find solutions and avenues for sustainable business,” said UPLB Chancellor Dr. Jose V. Camacho, Jr., “Our vision is a future-proof UPLB in society with its stakeholders and communities. We hope to engage actively with industry, and this new form of partnership with Nestlé Philippines will significantly contribute to enhancing the quality of education in the university amidst the pandemic.”

Nestlé Philippines Senior Vice President for Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability Arlene Tan-Bantoto recognized the capability of the youth in being agents of change in society and creating a lasting positive impact on the environment.

“Engaging the youth in climate action is important because of their crucial role in ensuring a livable future on the planet they will inherit. Through initiatives like this, Nestlé Philippines aims to empower the youth and provide them platforms that they can use to help address environmental problems that affect not just our country but the rest of the world,” she said.

Nestlé Philippines also offers a post-graduate sustainability scholarship in partnership with the UPLB Graduate School.
