Top online video creators share their thoughts on the new Vivo V9

Young fans on May 11, 2018 flocked to the World Trade Center as early as 10 a.m. to catch their favorite creators hours ahead of a creator event held in Manila.

To entertain the crowd with their own brand of humor, young global smartphone brand Vivo tapped online video creators Rozel Basilio, Luigi Pacheco, Jomie Hospital, Arah Virtucio, and Lloyd Cadena during the pre-main show.

YouTube star Lloyd Cadena delighted fans with his humor and energy.

Vivo’s first segment was a live skit directed by Lloyd and starred by Rozel, Luigi, Jomie and Arah.

For the second Vivo segment, the creators shared their thoughts on the new Vivo V9 and its 24-megapixel AI selfie camera and its 16MP+5MP dual rear camera.

The last branded segment before the show featured the classic game Pinoy Henyo played by the content creators and the winners of the Vivo online contest. The creators then ended the segment with a seflie with the crowd using the Vivo V9.

One for the books! Top online video creators took a selfie using the Vivo V9 Velvet Red.

After his pre-main program segments, Lloyd dropped by the Vivo booth to meet his adoring fans. Other notable video content creators also visited the Vivo booth and tried each of its station.

The booth featured a Game Station, a Studio Recording Station, and an Open Mic Stage.

The Game Station was where the crowd can use the Vivo V9 as a console while taking a break from the festivities at the World Trade Center.

The Studio Recording Station, meanwhile, was an instant hit to music-loving Pinoys. It was an enclosed room that includes recording equipment. The recording was then published live on Vivo’s YouTube page.

Finally, the Open Mic Stage was a small stage in the middle of the booth where young performers can show off their talents. The stage included a microphone, a bass guitar, an acoustic guitar, a keyboard piano, and a beatbox.

With all these, the Vivo booth at the fanfest became an instant hit among young and up-and-coming online creators.

#HairGoals by Watsons

I have been coloring my hair yearly and then retouching the roots every 5 months, depending if the color fades fast.  I have tried coloring my hair from red, blue, gray, purple, and brown. Im quite adventurous with my hair (despite my age hahaha) . After experimenting to all those colors.

I have come to a conclusion that red suits me best and has lesser maintenance.  Given that you use the right shampoo, a purple shampoo (which is expensive and hard to find )  and a non sulfate conditioner. If you have colored hair, its best to use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair to let the color lingers for 6 to 8 months. Plus it does not dry out hair fast.

My hair goal is to use shampoo and conditioner that matches up the condition of my hair. If its imported, the better.  I had haircut (long layered)  every 3 months to keep up with my layered hair. I have been sporting the long layered style all my life. It keeps me looking young and its less maintenance as I have wash and wear locks. Im just lucky to have a healthy and thick hair, just like my mother.
Its in the genes. I have my hair conditioned for keratin spa 2x a month, to keep it healthy.

Tip: Don't wait until your hair sounds the damage alarm before you take extra care of it. Treat your hair on a daily basis and your hair will surely thank you for it. Use hair treatment products like Silk Secrets and Lolane Intense Care Treatment, to keep hair out of harm's way. You can also use a more potent conditioner such as Creamsilk’s Triple Keratin Active to help bring back the vibrance of your hair.

"Beware of her fair hair, for she excels. All women in the magic of her locks; And when she winds them round a young man's neck, she will never set him free again." --Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Whether it's hair color, styling, or simply the way it blows in the wind, a woman's hair is her source of power and confidence.

Everyone wants in on what's in when it comes to cuts and styles. Filipino women in particular are bold and experimental when it comes to their haircut, but talk about hair coloring and they still tend to be conservative and reluctant to take that leap into more daring hair tones. Also, there is less involvement in hair treatment as it is considered a "fix" to an already existing damage rather than a way of preventing it. But that needs to change.

Watsons is here to help women achieve their #Hairgoals with a wide selection of hair care products from color to treatment. Got that hair color you've always wanted? Watsons says, "Go for it"! Play around with different shades of red (hot to fiery), browns (subtle to striking), blonde (sexy to bombshell), and pastel color (fun to out-of-this-world)! At Watsons, we've got just the products like Revlon, Revia, Bigen, Liese, Kolours, Beautylabo, LOreal Excellence, Naturtint and Lolane, to make your hair color dreams come true.

Thinking of a new hairstyle? Go right ahead, girl! They say a new hairstyle can actually alter your outlook in life. Plus, depending on the cut, this might even highlight your good facial features. To amp it up, you can use products like Vitress, which you can use to style and smoothen your hair everyday. DOVE Invigorating Dry Shampoo, is also a good must-have to create volume on your hair. And if you are sporting a style you want to last for the whole day, finish it off with a TRESemme Freeze Hold Hairspray.

Having healthy, good-looking hair unlocks that vibe of confidence. Watsons, with an extensive line of hair color, styling, and treatment products available in-store, makes your #Hairgoals happen. So come drop by! Or you can conveniently shop from the comforts of your home via http://www.watsons.com.ph!

Healthy Tacos Recipe using Real California Cheese

I grew up at a time when drinking milk was really quite popular. Back then, we didn’t have all these food supplements and all sorts of vitamins so we considered milk as our all-around healthy drink. I remember how our mother would tell us that we needed to drink milk if we wanted to grow tall, have great skin and not become sickly.

So it was no surprise milk and dairy was always a priority in our grocery list.  And I guess she was right because we were never hospitalized and rarely got sick growing up.

I remember how my brother would even put condensed milk or powdered milk on top of his rice whenever he didn’t like our ulam that time.

As for me, I always enjoyed drinking milk while nibbling on a slice of cheese or with a cheese sandwich.  We didn’t have all those sorts of fruit preserves and jams like we had today and Nanay would often find me experimenting as to which kind of sandwich and kind of bread goes best with cheese.

Nanay also loved using cheese in her recipes too.  Whether it’s simply sprinkling parmesan over spaghetti, or putting a few cubes of cheese in her beef mechado recipe or using it as a dip for our chips and tacos—it always makes her cooking even more delicious, not to mention nutritious too. It brings more creaminess and enhances the rich flavor of her signature dishes.

So when I had kids of my own I made sure that milk and cheese were also a part of their diet although I aint as much of a good cook as their lola.

Now that I’m of a certain age, I’m trying to incorporate as much nutritious food in my diet especially since I am trying intermittent fasting or if I need my diet to be as nutritious and delicious to keep me satisfied during my 12pm to -8pm eating window schedule.

It should be high in protein and muscle building essentials to energize me throughout the day. For the most part, yogurt and California cheese topped with berries and almonds have been my to-go food for the week. It is already quite filling and doesn’t make me crave for other kinds of snack food.

I am glad that there are lots of dairy choices in the supermarket nowadays and all I have to do is look for the Real California Milk seal so I can be sure of the quality. This assures buyers that they’re getting dairy products made exclusively from nutrient-rich, high quality 100% California milk.

Products bearing the Real California Milk seal mean that they were made exclusively with California milk and are power-packed with calcium, protein and other nutrients in each serving.

More California dairy products are sure to end up on local dining tables. On the next trip to the grocery, take a closer look at the chiller for products with the seal. Anytime is the perfect time to have a taste to see the difference.

Now I am preparing a healthy tacos snack using California cheese.

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo lean ground beef

1 cup Thick 'n Chunky salsa

10 taco shells in box

1/2 head lettuce, shredded

1 medium tomato, chopped (3/4 cup)

1 cup shredded Raw Sharp California Cheddar cheese (4 ounces)

Steps:

1.    Cook beef in 10-inch skillet over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain.

2.    Stir salsa into beef. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly; reduce heat to medium-low. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour beef mixture into large serving bowl.

3.   Heat taco shells as directed on package. Serve taco shells with beef mixture, lettuce, tomato and grated cheese.

Better yet, drop by the supermarket to check out products with the Real California Milk seal and give it a go. You’ll be healthier for it.

Real digital transformation: future-proof your business model

The Digital Transformation of Asia Pacific’s massive manufacturing sector promises to deliver USD 387 billion leap in regional GDP within three years.

This finding, in a Microsoft commissioned survey and authored by analysts at IDC, throws a spotlight on the importance of rethinking traditional business models in this technology-driven age.

The survey, of 615 manufacturing firms in 15 economies across Asia Pacific, identifies managing costs as the biggest business concern among CEOs in the region. And, it is through that lens that they view digitalization largely as a way reducing expenditures. In its analysis, IDC agreed that while rising costs represent a real worry, it is a backward way of looking at the power of digital transformation. The good news, however, is that the CEOs rightly grasp the imperative of developing new business models to beat the rise of disruptive competitors. It is here that true Digital Transformation holds its greatest potential for success.

“In other words, manufacturers are trying hard to balance priorities. They want to keep traditional revenue streams ticking along while keeping a fixed eye on the fast-approaching future. We believe that change is not coming as quickly as it should. Manufacturing companies have to accelerate on truly transformative measures otherwise they run the risk of being lagged behind”, said Victor Lim, Vice President IDC Asia/Pacific.

Balancing the present and the future

Digital Transformation initiatives bring tangible results to manufacturing companies.

The survey identifies five top benefits, three of which relate to the present bottomline—improvement in productivity, profit margin and cost reduction.
And two others—revenue from new products and services along with improved customer loyalty— represent long-term sustainable growth and are truly transformative initiatives. They demonstrated the highest impact of all five last year, from 16% to 17% (see chart below). Moreover, revenue from new products and services along with customer loyalty show the most promise for improvements in the lead up to 2020, at 23% and 28% respectively.

Start the journey

Simply put it, Digital Transformation is about reimagining how organizations bring together people, data, and processes to create value for their customers and maintain a competitive advantage.

So how does an organization start? The answer is gathering data—lots of data.

“Broadly, an organization should go through a three-step process,” Lim said. “ Firstly, the data that you collect can help improve decision-making and leads to insights. Secondly, those insights feed the development of better products and services. And thirdly, that will lead to new business models to monetize sets of data directly or develop new commercial digital services”

A great example of a manufacturing firm gathering data on old processes and using that data to develop new business opportunities is Toyota Industries, which moved from being simply a maker of forklifts to a company that also sells complete digital warehouse management solutions around the world.

“Leveraging data is a smart and creative way has opened a whole new opportunity that places Toyota Industries in a strong growth trajectory,” said Scott Hunter, the Head of manufacturing at Microsoft Asia Pacific.

The Survey finds that most manufacturing companies in the region understand the potential power of the data they are collecting. They see data as an asset akin in value to cash holdings plant equipment or real estate. Moreover, they are also adopting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) based on data. But again, they tend to prioritize short-term process and services effectiveness over long-term data capitalization along with product and services innovations. Just like the benefits described earlier, it is a matter of finding the right balance between the present and the future.

Microsoft’s Hunter said Digital Transformation in Asia means moving the focus from process automation, optimization, and productivity improvement efforts into developing new business models to stay competitive”.

Another proof point that manufacturers are serious about data is highlighted by where they are choosing to invest this year. The evidence is clear— Asia Pacific manufacturers are putting a lot of their money into the core technologies of big data analytics and cloud computing. They are also investing in the emerging technologies of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics, along with Internet of Things (IoT).

“The pay-off from harnessing data is improved products and services, from that they get a value that will lead to new business models,” Lim said.

Silos and Leaders

Let’s talk about the traits of leaders in digital transformation, and how manufacturing sector differs from the overall picture that we see in the Asia Pacific. The survey shows that “leaders” in the manufacturing sector are ahead of the rest of leaders in Asia Pacific* in terms of each having a key person or dedicated business unit to drive Digital Transformation. However, they lag in the allocation of budgets as a permanent part of their profit and loss statements. They also remain ‘siloed” within their organizations and are slow to push all the departments on to the same path of change.

“Digital Transformation is a team sport,” says Lim. “A holistic, well-developed plan that every part of the company contributes to is essential. Having it in place from the start is a key to the long-term success. It is so much more important than having short-term targets or “siloed” initiatives across company divisions, even if they bring good, but siloed immediate results.”

When individual plans and initiatives become aligned with an overall change strategy and scaled organization-wide, the effect of collaboration helps achieve the broader Digital Transformation results.

Still, there is no shortage of challenges.  The most pressing is the need to recruit talent with skill sets that can drive change, the Study finds.  Shaping the workforce of the future is also a major issue because 85% of jobs in manufacturing are expected to be transformed in the next three years. And almost 60% will be redeployed to a new position and/or retrained for digital work.

What is the way forward?

Microsoft and IDC have a roadmap on how to digitally transform. It starts with developing a digital culture. It encourages the use of data across all the processes in an organization and sharing it externally with customers and partners. This could mean a manufacturer, looking outside its own organization and building a digital supply chain and data-sharing across an entire ecosystem.

Embracing a “micro-revolutions” approach is important as a series of small steps leads to the bigger strategy realization. New ideas should be quickly tested, allowing for room to fail fast and learn fast.

Data is key to unlocking the potential of Digital Transformation, which can change a product-centric company to a services company that delivers on evolving customer needs. Embracing new technologies, such as Big Data Analytics AI, IoT must be at the heart of any Digital Transformation effort.

Acer Philippines partners with Samsonite for its Back-to-School #CarryOn Promo

I remember owning a very sturdy backpack that travels with me in and out of the country for as long as 9 years now. I always partner it with my luggage. Its the best investment that I have. It seats in the cabinet for months now. I need to retire the backpack and replace it with a compact luggage soon. I have around 4 luggages in different colors.  I need to buy a black or blue luggage this year to give way to my travels. I am excited!

I just got lucky that Acer PH came up with the back-to-school promo. With every Acer PH laptops and or projectors that you purchase, you'll get to own one sturdy luggage from Samsonite.  That is good news for millennial travelers as well as bloggers like me who love to travel and document, vlog/blog each country that I am going to visit.

Acer Philippines, a leading tech and innovations company, has collaborated with American luggage and travel bag manufacturer Samsonite for its back-to-school promo. The launch event was held last May 15 at the Mega Fashion Hall in SM Megamall.

This year, Acer Philippines’ back-to-school promo is especially made for millennials. Seeing the world’s biggest generation’s constant thirst for adventure and new experiences, the tech giant uses travelling as a motivation to inspire the youth to do well, whether in school or in their professions. Aptly called “#CarryOn”, the Promo encourages the youth to power through the hurdles they encounter in pursuit of their dreams and goals.

“If there’s one thing we’ve learned about millennials, it’s that they are very passionate individuals who are unstoppable if they are truly motivated,” shares Sue Ong-Lim, Acer Philippines’ Sales and Marketing Director. “Travel is, without a doubt, one of their strongest motivations. This is why we’ve partnered with Samsonite, a household name when it comes to travelling, to help us propel this cause forward. Hand in hand, we are hopeful that we will be able to not only motivate our millennials, but also reward them for their hard work by fueling their wanderlust.”

Befitting a movement that advocates trying out different things and enjoying new experiences, Acer Philippines’ Back-to-School Promo was launched through a travel-inspired event, where guests filled out a passport by completing various activities.

The affair also saw the debut of the #CarryOn video, which shows what the back-to-school campaign is all about. Directed by Ms. Irene Villamor, known for her works in Camp Sawi and Meet Me In St. Gallen, the film depicts how the youth turn to travelling as a way to cope and re-energize in the face of the stresses of their daily lives. The full video may be seen in the Acer Facebook Page.

“Travel inspires a different form of education – it makes you learn about new environments, exposes you to different cultures, and gives you a clearer view of the world,” shares Ciely Buenviaje, Country Head of Samsonite Philippines. “Samsonite could not be happier to be partnering with Acer in promoting such a holistic growth for the millennial generation.”

The Acer Philippines #CarryOn Back-to-School Promo will run until June 30, 2018, during which every purchase of qualified Acer and Predator laptops, Acer projectors, and Acer desktop will come with free Samsonite luggage.

For more information on the Promo, visit the Acer Philippines Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/AcerPH and the Acer Philippines website at www.acer.com.ph, and follow @acerphils on Twitter. You may also purchase online via http://ph-store.acer.com/.
