Polaris Esports defeats Execration in All-Filipino Dota 2 Grand Finals

Championship Sunday was in full swing at the Asia Pacific Predator League 2022 Grand Finals at Link Forest in Tokyo, Japan. With a Filipino team already assured of the win in Dota 2, ArkAngel Predator had to play above expectations to make waves in the PUBG side after a middle-of-the-pack showing in the first two days.

In the All-Filipino finals of Dota 2, it was a brawl between Polaris Esports and Execration. A risky Position 4 Leshrac by Marvin “Xavius” Rushton didn’t pay off too much in the early game despite picking up an early Aghanim’s Shard. Jinn “Palos” Lamatao’s Pudge was hitting all the strides in Game 1 in a masterclass performance. Game 2, the Pudge was again the hero, this time in the hands of John “Natsumi” Vargas. Alongside Mc “Lelouch” Villanueva and his Leshrac, Polaris snowballed itself in Game 2 to force a decider.

Game 3 promised to be a banger of a long game from the draft alone with Execration picking up Naga Siren while Medusa was the choice for Polaris Esports. But long game it was not, as Polaris managed to play a fast tempo game with an unchecked Broodmother pick. Polaris convincingly took the championship against Execration to take home the $75,000 prize and the illustrious Predator Shield. Execration brings home $30,000 prize money after taking second place while GrindSky Esports, who finished third, has $15,000 in earnings.

Sue Ong-Lim, Acer PH General Manager

For PUBG, ArkAngel Predator kicked off the day with a middle-of-the-pack performance in Map 11. The Filipino squad had to bring in its A-game from Map 12 onward for any chance of a podium finish against the fierce competition from around the region. ArkAngel’s safe approach allowed the team to secure some much needed points as it finished strong with 11 kills in the map to move up in the standings.

ArkAngel Predator found its fire anew in Map 14 as the team managed to finish third in the crucial map which stabilized the team’s position at third overtaking Korean squad GNL. ArkAngel goes home after a hard fought campaign and will be bringing home $15,000 in prize money. In the end, it was still Vietnamese squad Genius Esports and its huge lead that took the championship and the $75,000 prize money while Korean team DWG KIA took  second place and $30,000.

After the awarding ceremony, participating teams were honored and Intel MVP Awards were given to Attack All Around’s Escalucio and Yagon Galacticos’ ATee for PUBG and Dota 2 respectively. To cap the tournament off, Acer Philippines General Manager Sue Ong Lim, along with Predator Philippines brand ambassadors Alodia Gosiengfiao and Amara Ui, announced that the next Asia Pacific Predator League Grand Finals would take place in Manila, Philippines in 2024.

Acer Philippines partners with Samsonite for its Back-to-School #CarryOn Promo

I remember owning a very sturdy backpack that travels with me in and out of the country for as long as 9 years now. I always partner it with my luggage. Its the best investment that I have. It seats in the cabinet for months now. I need to retire the backpack and replace it with a compact luggage soon. I have around 4 luggages in different colors.  I need to buy a black or blue luggage this year to give way to my travels. I am excited!

I just got lucky that Acer PH came up with the back-to-school promo. With every Acer PH laptops and or projectors that you purchase, you'll get to own one sturdy luggage from Samsonite.  That is good news for millennial travelers as well as bloggers like me who love to travel and document, vlog/blog each country that I am going to visit.

Acer Philippines, a leading tech and innovations company, has collaborated with American luggage and travel bag manufacturer Samsonite for its back-to-school promo. The launch event was held last May 15 at the Mega Fashion Hall in SM Megamall.

This year, Acer Philippines’ back-to-school promo is especially made for millennials. Seeing the world’s biggest generation’s constant thirst for adventure and new experiences, the tech giant uses travelling as a motivation to inspire the youth to do well, whether in school or in their professions. Aptly called “#CarryOn”, the Promo encourages the youth to power through the hurdles they encounter in pursuit of their dreams and goals.

“If there’s one thing we’ve learned about millennials, it’s that they are very passionate individuals who are unstoppable if they are truly motivated,” shares Sue Ong-Lim, Acer Philippines’ Sales and Marketing Director. “Travel is, without a doubt, one of their strongest motivations. This is why we’ve partnered with Samsonite, a household name when it comes to travelling, to help us propel this cause forward. Hand in hand, we are hopeful that we will be able to not only motivate our millennials, but also reward them for their hard work by fueling their wanderlust.”

Befitting a movement that advocates trying out different things and enjoying new experiences, Acer Philippines’ Back-to-School Promo was launched through a travel-inspired event, where guests filled out a passport by completing various activities.

The affair also saw the debut of the #CarryOn video, which shows what the back-to-school campaign is all about. Directed by Ms. Irene Villamor, known for her works in Camp Sawi and Meet Me In St. Gallen, the film depicts how the youth turn to travelling as a way to cope and re-energize in the face of the stresses of their daily lives. The full video may be seen in the Acer Facebook Page.

“Travel inspires a different form of education – it makes you learn about new environments, exposes you to different cultures, and gives you a clearer view of the world,” shares Ciely Buenviaje, Country Head of Samsonite Philippines. “Samsonite could not be happier to be partnering with Acer in promoting such a holistic growth for the millennial generation.”

The Acer Philippines #CarryOn Back-to-School Promo will run until June 30, 2018, during which every purchase of qualified Acer and Predator laptops, Acer projectors, and Acer desktop will come with free Samsonite luggage.

For more information on the Promo, visit the Acer Philippines Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/AcerPH and the Acer Philippines website at www.acer.com.ph, and follow @acerphils on Twitter. You may also purchase online via http://ph-store.acer.com/.

It was truly a fun day when Acer transformed Glorietta Activity Center to a giant ball pit on August 7, where guests and a kid at heart like me played and tried all the game stations.

Acer celebrates "Acer Day" in keeping with the global look and theme “Be cool everyday”, the venue was transformed into a giant ball pit for a full day, where mall guests may play freely in any of the stations. The Glorietta Activity Center also served as the backdrop for various energetic performances by Basti Artadi and Kjwan, and lively sets from famed DJs Euric and Nina.

“Acer Day was conceptualized to continually refresh and breathe new life into the brand, as well as to boost the public’s awareness and knowledge about Acer products,” shares Sue Ong-Lim, Sales and Marketing Director of Acer Philippines. “This year’s celebration is the first of many to come, and consumers can trust that it will only get better from here.”

Acer Day is the world’s leading computer brand’s first transnational and largest annual brand day event, which kicked off in 14 countries, including China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam.
