Ed Sheeran is delighted to announce details of his new single ‘Overpass Graffiti’, which will be joined by an official video

Ed Sheeran has released his brand-new album ‘=’ (Equals) listen here. In conjunction with the release, Ed is delighted to announce details of his new single ‘Overpass Graffiti’, which will be joined by an official video, premiering today at 9:00pm Philippine Time.

Warner Music Philippines along with SM Mall of Asia and the PH Sheerios celebrated the album release with a wonderful cinematic trailer. Fourteen large butterflies (coming from each of the album track covers) can be seen flying over the city skyscrapers of Metro Manila, painting the town red (and more!), and traveling through relevant areas way too familiar for our Sheerios, such as the famous Mall of Asia Complex where Ed had both of hist Multiply and Divide tour shows. Watch it here.

Aside from that, Asian fans are in for a treat as Ed hosts his a grand virtual fan meet on October 30 (Saturday) at 7:00pm Philippine Time, streamed live from the Warner Music Philippines Facebook page! RSVP to the fan event here.

About the Album

Written and produced by Sheeran, Johnny McDaid and Fred Gibson (the trio behind ‘Bad Habits’), ‘Overpass Graffiti’ - the third official single to be taken from Ed’s new album ‘=’ – is a heady, synth-rich ode to '80s pop, and provides us with a wistful portrait of lost love as Ed soundtracks a past relationship. The official video - directed by Jason Koenig – explores the romanticism of living in the moment as we find Ed stranded in the desert in his dressing gown (!), before he embarks on an adventure with a newfound set of friends who he meets after hitching a ride.

Embracing Ed’s own truths, ‘=’ seamlessly captures both the intimate and every day, elevating universal experiences to a higher plane. The fourth instalment in Sheeran’s symbol album series and a body of tracks that were made over a four-year period that followed his seminal ‘÷’ (Divide) album era, the new album finds Ed taking stock of his life and the people in it as he explores the varying degrees of love (‘The Joker And The Queen’, ‘First Times’, ‘2step'), loss (‘Visiting Hours’), resilience (‘Can’t Stop The Rain’) and fatherhood (‘Sandman’, ‘Leave Your Life’), while also processing his reality and career (‘Tides’).

Sonically, ‘=’ encapsulates Ed’s versatile musical palette, spanning signature, guitar-led tracks and world-class balladry to weightier, euphoric production moments, as first showcased on this summer’s emphatic, 2 x platinum comeback track, ‘Bad Habits’. Written and recorded across Suffolk, London, Sweden and LA, the album’s executive production comes from Ed Sheeran, FRED (No.6 Collaborations Project) and Johnny McDaid (Divide), with additional writing and/or production provided by Steve Mac, Joe Rubel, Amy Wadge, Foy Vance, Elvira Anderfjard, David Hodges, Andrew Watt, Lou Bell, Natalie Hemby and Ben Kweller. Sheeran’s brother, Matthew, a composer, also contributes stunning string arrangements on ‘First Times’ and ‘The Joker And The Queen’. The album artwork is a vivid collage of butterfly imagery symbolising the albums’ thread of ‘new life’ and is backdropped by one of Ed’s own abstract paintings.

Moreover, with the help of his recent single releases, Ed achieved another milestone in the UK after becoming the first British Solo Artist to claim 52 weeks – a full year – at No.1 on the Official UK Singles Chart, with only Elvis Presley and The Beatles achieving more overall weeks at the top.

What You Need to Know: HIV Cases are Rising Rapidly

In the past few years, Filipinos have started opening up and talking about sex and how it is an important conversation to have in order to engage in safe, healthy, and satisfying sexual activities. But despite the inroads that have been made in normalizing conversations about sex, barriers remain when it comes to discussing Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) including the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) as the feelings of shame and stigma remain which prevent people from accessing information and resources that can help Filipinos develop safe sex habits.

The lack of access and conversation contributes to the continued rise in the number of people who test HIV-positive in the country. July 2021 data from the HIV/AIDS & ART Registry of the Philippines (HARP) showed that 1,045 Filipinos tested HIV-positive while 60 people died of AIDS-related complications. This means 33 people tested positive every day from January to July 2021.

HIV cases in the Philippines continue to rise especially for youths aged 15-24 years old

Faced with these numbers, Durex continues to strengthen its mission to promote safe sex with its new SEXducated video series available on the Durex Facebook and YouTube channel.

SEXducated with Durex

Targeted toward millennials and Gen Zs, singles, and stay-at-home couples, the SEXducated with Durex video series is a fun and creative treatment to lessons on practicing safe sex. The show gives light to HIV awareness and how to improve one’s overall sexual health.

“It’s part of our responsibility as a brand to empathize with our consumers’ needs and give them safe and practical solutions,” said Matt Davis, Reckitt Marketing Director. “Through SEXducated with Durex, we aim to provide a safe space and have a thoughtful discussion on topics that beg to be talked about.”

Singles and young people can learn from the boys of Boys Night Out (Sam YG, Slick Rick and TonyToni) and Elijah Canlas as the four debunk HIV myths with hard facts. They can also learn from Dr. Kilimanguru, as he addresses need-to-know information about HIV. While couples can find ways to rekindle their relationships as they explore the topic of seeking pleasure through intimate acts with Dr. Rica Cruz.

With Durex’s SEXducated series, Boys Night Out and Elijah Canlas debunk HIV myths and learn hard facts about safe sex

Dr. Kilimanguru or Winston Kilimanjaro Tiwaquen is a doctor who gained fame on TikTok for his medical advice videos known for being easy to understand and entertaining because of his use of hugot lines and jokes. Through his videos, delivered in colloquial Filipino, viewers learn about the simplest medical issues from the common cold to HIV, and even COVID-19. Meanwhile Dr. Rica Cruz is a sexologist and media personality whose expertise is on sexual pleasure and sexual behaviors. Dr. Rica believes that sexual ownership is sexier than sex.

Together Dr. Kilimanguru and Dr. Rica Cruz, viewers learn need-to-know facts about HIV and having sex safely, intimately, and pleasurably

Protection, Preparedness, and Education (PPE)

Enabling Filipinos to “Always Come Prepared,” Durex fulfills its role as a responsible brand through ongoing partnerships with various organizations. The need to connect is very human and so is the need for open conversation about something as natural as sex. And with the isolation possibly triggering more intense feelings, it’s important to protect oneself from risks that can be otherwise prevented.

With its SEXducated campaign, Durex encourages Filipinos to always come prepared and enjoy sex safely. Learn more about practicing safe sex with Durex via their Facebook page.

Shopee introduces the ‘Livestream Call’ feature on Shopee Live to enhance customer experience

Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, continues to push for innovations that aim to improve the e-commerce experience for both the seller and consumer. With sellers preparing for some of the biggest holiday sales of the year such as Shopee’s 11.11 - 12.12 Big Christmas Sale, Shopee introduces the ‘Livestream Call’ feature on Shopee Live to enhance customer experience and improve engagement during a live stream session. During a livestream call, sellers can entertain inquiries via audio or video call while other viewers listen in.

Shopee Live has been a go-to for sellers on Shopee to connect with users and attract more sales. With the pandemic driving the digitalization of businesses, Shopee pushes for innovation that will help local MSMEs adapt to the evolving global retail landscape. E-commerce continues to gain momentum in the Southeast Asia region, with a projected value of US$132 billion by the end of 2021 - and it is expected to double after five years.[1] With more consumers turning to online platforms for their needs, entrepreneurs strive to adopt digitalization to sustain their businesses and capture opportunities in the new digital economy.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “The needs of our sellers are always evolving, and we are committed to providing the necessary tools for them to improve their methods of engaging with shoppers. As more shoppers turn to livestream to learn about brands, products and interact with sellers, we are glad that the new Shopee Live features will also enhance their shopping experience. We will continue to innovate and make improvements on existing tools to support the growth of businesses on Shopee.”

Shopee launched several initiatives that aim to further improve the overall e-commerce experience for sellers and shoppers with Shopee Live. Earlier this year, Shopee rolled out the co-streaming feature which allowed live stream hosts to co-stream with one of their viewers for a more interactive streaming session. The Livestream Flash Sale was also introduced to help sellers gain more viewers and boost their sales during streaming sessions on Shopee Live. With this, sellers can promote their discounted products, attract more views, and boost orders during a live stream. The In-app Business Insights features gave live streamers access to the number of unique and total views, total likes, and confirmed orders from the live stream, letting streamers gauge what their audience wants.

How YouTube protects kids and families with four responsibility pillars

As kids and teens spend more time online, it’s important to protect their experience while encouraging exploration. Anchored on its commitment to responsibility, YouTube invested heavily over the years to build YouTube Kids, a dedicated kids destination for a safer, family-friendly place for young ones to explore their imagination and curiosity.

To live up to its responsibility as an open platform while protecting its community, YouTube’s principles are organized around four “Rs”: removing harmful contentraising authoritative voices, reducing borderline content, and rewarding trusted creators. These pillars are applied across a range of content, grounding its  efforts to protect kids and families. Here’s how they complement YouTube’s existing safety and digital wellbeing optionsand privacy and data practices:

Removing harmful content

YouTube has clear policies prohibiting content that exploits or endangers minors on the platform. Among the measures taken include removing violative content as quickly as possible, as well as a regular review of policies with external experts to ensure they are current. For example, YouTube has updated its policy to cover content targeted towards young minors and families that contains sexual themes, violence, obscenity, or other mature themes. In Q2 of 2021 alone, YouTube removed over 1.8 million videos for violations of its child safety policies.

YouTube Kids also has specific content policies and a much smaller set of channels and videos available that are allowed on the app. Part of its policies include the removal of overly commercial content from YouTube Kids, such as videos that only focus on product packaging or directly encourage children to spend money.

Raising authoritative voices, reducing borderline content

In collaboration with child development specialists, YouTube established a set of quality principles to help connect families with high-quality content. On YouTube Kids, only age-appropriate videos and channels are allowed on the platform. Moreover, the videos should also be enriching and engaging, and able to inspire curiosity and imagination, celebrate diverse perspectives, and encourage kids to uncover their own interests and passions.

These principles are also used to determine which high-quality content is recommended on YouTube. This means that when families are watching “made for kids” content, other recommended videos are aimed to be age-appropriate, educational, and can inspire creativity and imagination.

The same principles are also applied when it comes to removing channels from YouTube Kids and reducing the recommendation of kids content on YouTube that are of low-quality but do not necessarily violate YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Examples of this content include videos that are heavily commercial or promotional, encourage negative behaviors or attitudes, and more.

Rewarding trusted creators

Earlier this month, YouTube shared additional monetization policies aligned with the quality principles for channels that primarily create kids and family content on YouTube. Going forward, these principles will have not only an impact on recommendations and inclusion in YouTube Kids, but also on monetization.

Channels that primarily target young audiences or are classified as “made for kids” will need to deliver high-quality content and comply with kids-specific monetization policies. For example, channels that have predominantly low-quality kids content, such as “heavily commercial or promotional” or “encouraging negative behaviors or attitudes”, may be suspended from the YouTube Partner Program. On the other hand, if an individual video violates these quality principles, it may see limited or no ads. Before putting the policy in place, YouTube reached out to potentially impacted creators in order to support them before the changes take effect starting next month.

Ultimately, YouTube is committed to the goal of fostering a safe and enriching environment for families and children with the partnership of parents, creators, and experts.
