Have a feast at Gerry's Plus on Mother's Day

Gerry's Plus is a new restaurant concept where classic dishes meet modern Filipino cuisine. Gerry's plus has recently launched its classic dishes with Italian-American favorites at UP Town Center last April 24. The ambiance is modern filipino and has a young vibe to it.  It presents some of the dishes I love from Sweet Chili and Gerrys.   True to its motto “You’d still rather be at Gerry’s”, treat your mom this coming Mother's day, go visit UP Town Center and have some quality time with her at Gerry's Plus.

“Now you don’t have to go to several restaurants when your family and friends have a hard time deciding where to eat. Think of it as a one-stop culinary spot that has everything for everyone – from soups to salads, appetizers, main dishes, drinks and desserts. We have expanded our menu to include new Filipino dishes as well as original Italian-American favorites,” says Gerry Apolinario,

Diners at Gerry’s Plus can look forward to hefty servings of mouth watering Filipino dishes straight out of Gerry’s list of favorites: Beef Kaldereta Bulalo, Spiced Chicken Salsa, Baby Back Ribs and Black Pasta among others. “Our dessert line which includes Lava Cake, Choco Chip Ala Mode and Pannacotta are guaranteed to make you forget your name,” says Gerry.

Gerrys Plus Crispy vegetable pocket
This is the modern version of "fried lumpia",  looks like "sipa"  the vegetable pocket is crunchy and is best to dip with their spicy vinegar. This is my personal favorite.

Stir Fry Chinese Veggies

If youre a vegetarian or a vegan, you will love their Stir Fry Chinese veggies. its fresh, delicious and healthy.

Chicken with Basil
This is what chicken should be. With just the right spices, cooked with sweet chili, and topped with basil. Delicious and appetizing.

Japanese tofu with Minced Chicken

If you are a fan of tofu just like me, treat yourself to this menu, its a good source of protein. The delicious sauce with chicken and soft tofu is tasty and filling. You can eat it on its own, and it smells delicious too.

Tuna Pasta
If you are on a diet and wanted to try carbonara, this tuna pasta is the creamiest yet healthy pasta that you should try.

Lava Cake

If you have to try on Gerry desserts, you should order their Lava Cake, theirs is the most flavorful bursting with chocolate that I love most. I love it so much, that I finished the whole dessert myself.

Preparations are as important as the meals themselves and the freshest ingredients – quality meats, fish, vegetables and seasonings – are intricately prepared for a personal dining experience, said Gerry who himself does regular rounds of all their restaurants to ensure top quality of their menu items.
Gerry guarantees: “Dining experience at its best – that’s our credo. And that’s what we assure our guests.”

Plus and More

A trailblazer among fast-casual diners, Gerry’s has been expanding its brands with much success with its diverse offers.

Gerry’s other brand concepts include Aresi which offers Italian-American menu, and Sweet Chili, which serves Thai food.

Aressi and Sweet Chili have both attracted solid following and still continue to pull in more satisfied guests, earning praise for their food’s authentic taste. Aressi is located at the Waterfront Road in Subic; and Sweet Chili is at the third level of Fisher Mall along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.
Gerry’s ‘younger brand Kusina ng Gerry’s, meantime, is a delight to customers who enjoy mix-and-match meals that are not only filling but very affordable.

Slowly building its own customer base is Ramen Sora (Sora means “sky”) which originated in 2003 in Sapporo, considered the culinary capital of Japan that goes by the motto “No Ramen No Life”. Its maiden branch opened in Subic last December beside Aressi.

Ramen Sora had just opened its second branch in Cebu, along AS Fortuna Street, beside the newly-opened Gerry’s branch.

A most awaited new restaurant is Yakitori Binchotan, which will be launched after Gerry’s Plus, named after a special kind of charcoal called Bincho-Tan used to prepare yakitori (skewered food, usually chicken). Its white charcoal produces high heat and does not emit smoke, so it allows the full flavor of the food to come out.

Yakitori Binchotan is expected to open next month.

Ramen Sora: No Ramen No Life!

Ramen Sora opens at the Waterfront Avenue in Subic

My comfort food consists of hot steaming bowl of mami, congee and then ramen. When ramen becomes a rage in Manila last year. I checked out the first ramen house that was available together with a friend. I first ate out at Fukkouka Makati and the rest was history.  At first glance, ramen has a resemblance to mami but the difference lies in the soup and ingredients. It is mostly creamy based on the soup.  Ramen (ラーメン) is a noodle soup dish that was originally imported from China and has become one of the most popular dishes in Japan in decades.  Ramen restaurants, or ramen-ya, can be found in virtually every corner in Japan and produce countless regional variations of this common noodle dish. Ramen is the most affordable dish in China and or Hongkong, but here in Manila, you have to scowl php400 for a decent bowl. I have been to 5 Ramen restos in Manila and I should say, Im still exploring other ramen houses as well, as I am a fan of legit spicy ramen, the spicier the better.

From L-R; Chef Nori, Chef Yoshi, Chef Tommy and Gerry Apolinario

Last December 20, 2014 I was invited to check out the new ramen restaurant Ramen Sora at Waterfront Avenue in Subic. Gerry Apolinario of the famous Gerrys chain of restaurants decided to bring Ramen Sora here in the Phils from Las Vegas, USA. upon seeing that Ramen Sora holds a new promise in the food business, The men behind the Ramen Sora Nori, Yoshi and Tommy were excited for the first store in Subic  and claimed that they are on the process of putting up their second branch in Cebu.

Corn Butter Ramen
Shio deluxe Ramen
Menma Ramen

Miso Ramen

When I checked their menu, the ramen that intrigued me is the one with corn and  butter, so I ordered for that with the shoyu (soy)  soup as base as I am not a fan of the salt. The taste was fine with tomago and chasu. I feasted on their noodles. They were on their dry run that day, its okay to spice it up a little bit, if you prefer it with chilis. Noodles are freshly delicious, its not soft or hard, its the way I like it cooked. The interior has a homely feel to it as if youre eating in Japan with the legit ramen.

Born in Hokkaido Sapporo in 2003. Ramen Sora Subic is only the second branch overseas after Las Vegas, Nevada USA., which has a 5-star rating at travel website tripadvisory.,com

Considered Japan's culinary center, Sapporo is often the go-to district for those who want to indulge in the best of Japanese food like Ramen Sora.

Chef Yoshi Ishise, the man behind the restaurant's best tasting ramen, explains: "Ramen is one of Japan's staple dishes just like the rice to filipinos. We could not live without ramen. At Ramen Sora we put our heart and soul into preparing dishes because we want to make our customers happy. Isnt happiness life's ultimate goal?"

Chef Yoshi along with his team of Filipino chefs and partners from Prime Pacific Grill, Inc (PPGI) guarantee that they will transport Pinoys to Sapporo to enjoy the best ramen they will ever taste from Ramen Sora.

PPGI is also the operator of Filipino favorite Gerry's Grill, Kusina ng Gerry's, Aresi (Italian American restaurant) and Sweet Chili (Thai restaurant).

If you happen to drop by at Waterfront Subic, dont forget to check out Ramen Sora, Aresi and Gerrys as well. Then tell me what is your favorite ramen flavor.

Visit Gerry's Restaurant at SM Sta. Mesa

Gerry's with its popular filipino dishes is now open to serve you at SM Sta. Mesa. Gerry's recently unveiled its newest restaurant branch at SM Sta. Mesa  to the public last November 11.
Residents of Sta. Mesa, no longer need to go far to enjoy delicious Filipino favorites with the opening of  this well-loved restaurant.

Located at the second floor of the famous mall, Gerry’s presents diners with their best selling dishes such as Pork sisig, Crispy Pata, Bulalo, Kare Kare, Grilled Squid, and many others, as well as their new  desserts, the fruit medley and Toasted ice cream.

I love how this fruit platter medley tastes with ice cream and mango slices, it compliments everything. This is my new favorite dessert from Gerry's.

The rebranded Gerry’s which has dropped ‘Grill’ from its name is among the flagship brand’s new outlets scheduled to open within the Christmas season.

Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar is scheduled to open two more branches before end of the year: Antipolo and Las Pinas. It hopes to close the year with 70 branches worldwide, among them two in the US and Singapore and one in Qatar.

Gerry’s recently reopened its renovated branch at the ground level of Ali Mall at the Araneta Center in Quezon City.

The branch is the second reopened outlet after Tacloban which resumed operations in June seven months after typhoon Yolanda struck Eastern Visayas.

Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar’s aggressive expansion opened new outlets which include SM Malolos in Bulacan, Ayala Terraces Fairview, Naga, Iligan, Cauayan in Isabela, Tugegarao, and Fisher Mall along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.

Meanwhile, Kusinang Gerry’s, a fast-casual/do-it-yourself restaurant is also set to open in Talisay, Cebu within the month.
