McDonald’s brings to screen shared, feel-good moments that parents and their children have missed in the past 2 years

In the recently released M Safe film, McDonald’s brings to screen shared, feel-good moments that parents and their children have missed in the past 2 years.

While kids learn to adjust to being outside once again, McDonald’s shows that starting at a place they have always loved—like their favorite McDonald’s branch—is a safe place to visit as they ease back into pre-pandemic routines.

In the short film, viewers get to see an adorable little kid in a dinosaur costume practicing some safety procedures at home. These practices are then mirrored in the following scenes when, after two long years, the little girl’s mother brings her back to McDonald’s. The kid is in awe, and we see that everything she’s practiced is put to good use as they enjoy dining safely at McDo. Like most parents, there is no better feeling than seeing children experience firsthand those same feel-good moments they have missed.

“While more Filipinos continue to seek missed and new experiences outside their homes, we encourage families, parents, and kids to experience those same feel-good moments while staying safe at McDonald’s. With our M Safe practices in place, every McDonald’s store is a  safe space where families can enjoy quality time together without worry,” says Kenneth S. Yang, President and Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s Philippines.

McDonald’s remains committed to safety across all channels with the strict implementation of M Safe practices for all customers and employees at all times. For dine-in, families can have peace of mind as McDonald’s stores are equipped with hand sanitizers, proper ventilation, and a fresh air supply system. Frequent sanitation of customer areas is continuously done while customers continue to wear face masks except when eating.

To ensure a safe dining experience for everyone in-store, 100% of McDonald's employees nationwide are fully-vaccinated and continue to apply the protocols set in place. Whether dine-in, delivery, or ride-thru—all families are assured that their food is safely prepared by fully-vaccinated employees in a safe environment that follows stringent global food quality standards.

Former crew members share how safety has always been a top priority at McDonald’s

In a recently released M Safe video, former store employees of the company talked about how being safe at McDonald’s makes them feel good.

Henric, a former crew at McDo Robinsons Novaliches shared how working at McDonald’s has taught him the value of safety early on. Years after and his own business later, he recalls and proudly attests as to how committed the company is on safety.

Meanwhile, former crew members Arden and Khaycie also highlighted how safety was their first lesson as new employees, wherein stringent global safety protocols were taught. Today, with health and safety being of utmost concern for everyone, they are not worried whenever they visit or enjoy McDonald’s from the comfort of their homes, knowing they are safe.

“Safety has always been at the core of our operating culture and will always be. Our M Safe program is a testament to this – whether it is the safety of our food, the safety of our crew and managers who serve our customers, to the safety and cleanliness of all our restaurants and channels. Safety has been integral to us since day one, and who can better talk about this than our former crew members who have turned into loyal customers”, says Kenneth S. Yang, President and Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s Philippines.

Safety in every way

Customers are assured of safety in all ways. Apart from its Safety Seal-certified stores nationwide, the QSR giant has prioritized initiatives in boosting the vaccine rollout among its people and customers.

To date, 98% of its NCR store employees have already been vaccinated with the first dose and is set to hit 100% this month. Meanwhile, in a bid to encourage vaccination, McDonald’s rolled out Bakuna Benefits wherein customers who have at least had their first dose of vaccine enjoy a 10% discount for select orders.

McDonald’s also continues to innovate and provide customers with other safe choices where they can enjoy their food. Responding to consumer preferences, McDonald’s introduced Bike & Dine, Ride Thru, and Outdoor Dining so any customer can enjoy their favorites conveniently and safely.

Whether dine-in, delivery, or ride thru, customers are assured that their food is safely prepared through its stringent global food quality standards and strict safe and healthy protocols.

“As we all continue to navigate through these challenging times, the public can count on us in making sure their McDonald’s experience is always safe. We encourage customers to share feedback too via msafe@ph.mcd.com,” Yang concluded.

McDonald’s celebrates its #MPowered women

World famous menu items, meals and heartfelt service are signatures of the McDonald’s Philippines experience. And while the public continues to enjoy the company’s industry-leading standards on food and customer-centricity, the women of McDonald’s are taking on more leadership roles and increased involvement behind the counters, that has made all this come to life.

These women are at the forefront of #MPowered, McDonald’s newest campaign this National Women’s Month. The initiative lauds McDonald’s women leaders and team members who have shown strength, confidence, and courage amid a trying year, steering the company throughout the pandemic. The campaign is also headlined by McDonald’s representation numbers, which show its lead from the current global benchmarks for a gender-equal workforce.

At McDonald’s, women account for 55% of the total employee population. Out of this number, 56% manage the company’s over 650 stores. In the boardroom, women from the executive committee take up 50% of the company’s top leadership posts, while 73% of senior management and 54% of its franchise owners, are women. At the forefront is a female managing director, and women thriving in roles that are traditionally handled by men like real estate, construction, legal, IT, and franchising.

“We are proud to exemplify the talents and strengths of Filipino women at McDonald’s especially during these challenging times. We survived 2020 due to the exemplary leadership that the women of McDonald’s have shown-- the roles they played in initiatives that have propelled our business and brought us closer to different communities,” says McDonald’s Philippines President and CEOKenneth Yang.

Making waves in the company, society

Among the women in the #MPowered campaign are leaders who have driven landmark projects for McDonald’s and in partnership with other stakeholders amid the pandemic. Managing director Margot Torres co-led Ingat Angat, the country’s biggest consumer confidence campaign for Task Force T3, a consortium of private companies that support and partner with the government for its test, trace and treat initiatives against COVID-19. She continues her work on another national project, this time focusing on alleviating hunger and malnutrition. She is the private sector lead for Pilipinas Kontra Gutom, a multi-sectoral initiative in partnership with the government’s Task Force Zero Hunger--all while continuously overseeing the company’s day to day operations.

Following the strict lockdowns last year, McDonald’s was able to continue its operations, drive-thru, McDelivery and dine-in at a limited capacity, through its M Safe Program, led by corporate communications manager Puch Agodon. Through efforts of internal communications to align and rally its people on M Safe, the program captures how the company elevated its commitment to quality, service, and cleanliness for a safe and worry-free dining experience for its employees and customers. Rounding the list of notable female leaders amid COVID-19 is Ronald McDonald House Charities executive director Marie Angeles, who was at the helm of McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen. Initially intending to feed 50,000 frontliners and individuals from vulnerable sectors, the project progressed to feeding over 400,000 through the concerted effort of RMHC and its corporate partners including Metrobank, Coca-Cola, HAVI and Angkas. The McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen remains committed to serve more meals for more Filipinos this 2021.

“It is not enough to look at just the projects that gain media exposure because the more compelling work of women at McDonald’s happens every day, in the kitchens of all our restaurants in the Philippines. McDonald’s Philippines takes pride in having women as leaders, and as a woman myself, each day I am inspired by the skill and tenacity of our restaurant managers and crew, whom I believe, through their unique strengths, are pivotal for the success that has brought McDonald’s to where it is today and in the future.” notes Torres.

According to its latest figures, McDonald’s has over 25,000 women, wherein 56% belong to restaurant and safety management positions in company owned stores, and each one in charge of leading her co-employees and customers through the M Safe Program. Meanwhile, among 114 independent franchisees, 54% are also women.

“As we celebrate our female employees this Women’s Month, I would like to enjoin leaders and see the importance of championing a culture and workplace that enables everyone, whatever gender it may be, to grow and have equal opportunity. McDonald’s Philippines will remain steadfast in our commitment to gender equality, diversity and workplace inclusion. We are proud to say that from the crew room to the board room, it’s the women who take charge,” Yang quips.

Since the pandemic, we notice that everyone is into food delivery. McDonalds partners with Air Asia's Teleport t ensure fast moving of your favorite McDo meals like Big Mac and Fries and well-loved local favorites like Chicken McDo and McSpaghetti.

AirAsia’s logistics arm Teleport inked a partnership with one of the country’s largest fast-food chains - Golden Arches Development Corporation (McDonald’s Philippines), to support and ensure a fast-moving delivery of orders within the National Capital Region (NCR).

To kick off the partnership, AirAsia’s Teleport and McDonald’s executives initiated the send off with around 10 members of the airasia delivery team , some of whom are AirAsia cabin crew, pilots and ground staff at McDonald’s McKinley West, who will start delivering orders of customers within Metro Manila starting in Paranaque and Pasay City.

Teleport is an end-to-end logistics experience built for modern businesses. Aside from the last-mile delivery service of transferring items fast and safely to doorsteps performed by the airasia delivery team, Teleport also runs air cargo operations using AirAsia’s fleet and wide network of flights, utilizing existing space on passenger planes to reduce transport costs while accessing over 125 cities across Southeast Asia.

And now, the same level of efficiency can be experienced by McDonald’s customers when they order their favorite meals through the McDonald’s PH App.

Ordering, payment, and delivery tracking will be through McDonald’s channels, while AirAsia’s Teleport will ensure the safe, hot and fresh and on-time deliveries of meals from McDonald's stores right to the doorsteps of customers.

AirAsia CEO Ricky Isla said, “This partnership with McDonald's forms part of AirAsia’s pivot to digital transformation and opening of other lines of businesses that will provide job opportunities to everyone who have been severely impacted by the ongoing pandemic.

At AirAsia, we will continue to be agile and welcoming to meaningful and positive changes that inspire growth and economic development.”

Teleport Country Head Ernest Bernal said, “Aside from the NCR, Teleport is now present in key cities in the country such as Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban, Tagbilaran, Clark, Cagayan de Oro, and Zamboanga. We hope to partner with McDonald’s in these key cities to service more McDonald’s stores in the country.

AirAsia-Teleport is looking forward to the growth of our partnership with Golden Arches Development Corp. (GADC) to expand our services nationwide, as well as Southeast Asia through AirAsia’s expansive network across cities and countries.”

McDonald’s in the Philippines is one of the largest markets in the region with close to 660 outlets nationwide to date, with more slated to open this 2021.

The company’s continued expansion and growing demand of Filipinos for McDonald’s globally iconic products like Big Mac and Fries and well-loved local favorites like Chicken McDo and McSpaghetti, has challenged AirAsia-Teleport to also strive to ‘deliver’.”

McDonald’s Philippines Managing Director Margot Torres adds, “our partnership with AirAsia is part of the company’s on-going digital transformation journey which started in 2009 with the launch of our McDelivery website, followed by the launch of our McDelivery App in 2014, use of 3POs in 2018 and cashless payment for McDelivery in 2020. It was through these strategic investments that enabled the company to survive the pandemic, and in our continuous pursuit of this [digital transformation], will allow us to future proof our business.”

McDonald’s Philippines CEO Kenneth Yang said, “We have seen the tremendous growth of our delivery business last year, which, enabled by digital technology, allowed us to serve more customers conveniently and safely from the comfort of their homes. Through partnerships like this with AirAsia and Teleport, we will be able to cater to the growing demand while maintaining the high standards of quality, commitment to convenience and accessibility, that McDonald’s is known for here in the Philippines and all over the world“.

Your STEAKation begins at McDonalds with their newest offering Mushroom Pepper Steak

I got an invite to try out McDonald's newest offering yesterday. I left the house at 10am with an empty stomach. When I got off at Ayala,  I took my brunch at McDonald's SM Makati before proceeding to McDonald's Forum. I asked for a breakfast meal, the service crew told me that they're not serving Breakfast meals at their branch. I opted for a Mushroom Pepper Steak which turned out to be delicious with the lavish and creamy mushroom sauce! Not to mention its affordable at Php55.  After my heavy breakfast I proceeded to McDonald's event and was surprised that Mushroom Pepper Steak was their newest meal. I hope that they would put this on their permanent menu. This one became my favorite right away,  next to their fries and Big Mac.

McDonald’s welcomes the New Year with the new Mushroom Pepper Steak! A welcome addition to McDonald’s range of filling and affordable rice meals, it features a juicy burger patty, smothered in a mushroom cream sauce with a hint of pepper, and topped off with sliced button mushrooms.

With the New Mushroom Pepper Steak, customers can enjoy a STEAKation wherever they are, may it be in their home or office. Taste the 1-pc Mushroom Pepper Steak with a regular drink for only Php55. It also comes as a 2-pc meal with a regular drink for only Php89 or with a McFreeze starting at Php69 for a 1-pc meal and Php 99 for a 2-pc meal.

Your STEAKation begins when you dine in at any McDonald’s restaurant nationwide. You can also order the New Mushroom Pepper Steak via Drive-Thru or McDelivery (86-2-36, www.mcdelivery.com.ph, or the McDo PH app).

McRib finally lands on Philippine shores for a limited time only

It was almost the stuff of McDonalds legends. An elusive sandwich we used to see only in the photos of friends dining at McDonalds in some other country.

The combination of Pork + Barbecue Sauce+ Pickles sandwiched in an elongated bun. The McRibs.

Developed by McDonald’s first Executive Chef Rene Arend, who also invented the Chicken McNuggets in 1979. the McRib  made its debut in the U.S. in 1981, which coincidentally was also the same year when McDonalds first opened its Philippine store.

And now after more than 30 years the elusive McRib finally lands on Philippine shores!

When it comes to food, people have different opinions on their taste preference. Ranging from salty and spicy to sweet and sour, complementing flavors that tickle the taste buds. But when it comes to barbecue, Pinoys all want it the same way – sweet, smoky and generous with the sauce.

A well-loved and highly-anticipated product in other countries, McRib is now made available for the first time in the Philippines for a limited time only to satisfy one’s barbecue cravings with its juicy, rib-shaped pork patty dipped in sweet, tangy and smoky barbecue sauce, topped with pickle slices and slivered onions, sandwiched between two warm caramelized buns.

Available at an a la carte price of only PHP 99, the new McRib will offer McDonald’s customers a flavorful burger experience that’s sure to leave them drooling for its lip-smacking barbecue goodness.

“McDonald’s is excited to introduce the McRib sandwich in the Philippines. We remain committed to surprising and delighting our customers with a variety of delicious meals made with high-quality ingredients at great value. The McRib is all that and more – it is a delicious food experience one should enjoy while it lasts,” said McDonald’s Philippines Senior Vice President for Marketing Margot Torres.

For those who prefer the added texture of vegetables in their sandwich, customers can also enjoy the new McRib Deluxe. Made with the same tender pork patty, tasty barbecue sauce and soft buns, the McRib Deluxe replaces the pickles and onions with fresh crisp lettuce and creamy mayonnaise for PHP 119 a la carte.

Try the McRib and McRib Deluxe with McDonald’s World Famous French Fries and drinks today and enjoy a delicious meal that’s dripping with flavor.

Don’t miss out on this limited-time offer! The McRib is available in all McDonald’s stores nationwide via Dine-In, Take-Out, Drive-Thru and McDelivery via the McDo App, 86-2-36, and mcdelivery.com.ph.

Loving the McRib? Share your McRib experience through McDonald’s Facebook fan page, facebook.com/McDo.ph, or tag @McDo_PH on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #McRibCraving.
