The CamSur Watersports Complex held the adrenaline-pumping triathlon adventure, the Challenge CamSur 2015, where international triathletes joined in the thrill and competed with local triathlon champions. The event was a spin-off of Challenge Philippines Triathlon, one of the country’s biggest endurance events.

Football fans headed to the Nuvali Football Field in Laguna for the 10th European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) Football Cup. Participated by employees from different companies, organizations and NGOs, the fun cup aimed to build strong bonds with colleagues and to appreciate the game of football.

Monster trucks roared into the SM Mall of Asia Arena for the country’s first Monster Jam. Fans from around the globe came to see the world famous monster trucks and their drivers as they competed in racing and freestyle events. Aside from enjoying the roaring engines and crushing actions, spectators took turns taking selfies with El Toro Loco, Grave Digger and other famous monster trucks.

Sailing enthusiasts were treated to a fun sailing and navigation challenge for catamarans, yachts, jet skis, and kayaks at the Romblon 3 Islands Challenge in Romblon City. Windsurfers, meanwhile, traveled to Anilao, Batangas for the Philippine Windsurfing Camp.

Canadian Dignitaries Get a Taste of Home in Manila

A TASTE OF CANADA IN MANILA. Filipino-Canadian Senator Tobias Enverga, Jr. (left) and Canada’s Minister for International Trade, Ed Fast (right), are all set to enjoy Canada’s best burgers and milkshakes at Triple O’s SM Megamall.

For any Filipino who has ever spent some time in Canada, Triple O’s by White Spot will surely be a familiar name. The good news is that Triple O’s claim of having the “sauciest, juiciest, tastiest, bestest burgers around” has already been validated in the Philippines as well, courtesy of jam-packed branches in SM Megamall, SM Aura, and the UP Town Center Mall. For those who have a hankering for something other than a fantastic burger, Triple O’s also provides a selection of other mains, such as chicken, pasta, and fish dishes. Another staple that has achieved a cult-like following are the hand-scooped Triple O’s milkshakes made with 100% premium ice cream.

Recently, the Triple O’s branch in SM Megamall welcomed some very special guests for a surprise lunch. Canada’s Minister for International Trade, the Hon. Ed Fast, joined the first Filipino-Canadian Senator, Tobias Enverga, Jr., and Canadian Ambassador Neil Reeder for a taste of home in Manila. The dignitaries made time in their busy schedules to enjoy Canada’s best-loved burgers and milkshakes, while delighting both the staff and walk-in diners with trivia and other tidbits about the brand.

To find out what the hype is about, visit your nearest Triple-O’s outlet, log on to www.tripleos.com.ph, or join the conversation via @tripleosPH on Twitter and Facebook []

Once upon a Sabado; the day for happy memories

What makes for a perfect Sabado? Is it the extra one or two hours of sleep? The extra 30 minutes you get to spend with your pets? Or is it that one day of the week where you get to spend with your loved ones? In a way Sabado allows us that one day of the week where you get be yourself and do whatever you want.

This is one of the reason why Jollibee is relaunching its most successful campaign.

Last Saturday, July 4 relaunches the "I Love You Sabado" jingle simultaneously at five Jollibee flagship stores. Luckily, I was invited at the Jollibee E. Rodriguez at with guest singer Jollibee Ambassador  Bamboo, who rendered  his hit songs Awit ng Kabataan and Ulan  to the delight of the kids and the kids at heart.

The “I Love You, Sabado” jingle was first launched in 1987, it  has been rewritten and given a fresh arrangement, and considered one of the most well-loved and successful campaigns of the fastfood giant.

“Our ‘I Love You, Sabado!'” campaign inspired families to make the most of their weekends by spending quality time with one another. As a brand that promotes the joy of family, Jollibee is bringing back to life this campaign as we believe that the message holds true in this day and age. Amid the hustle and bustle of our day to day lives, we want to reinforce the importance of reserving weekends and pursuing our passions with the people who matter most – our family,” said Jollibee Vice President for Marketing Harvey Ong.

“Jollibee is going all-out on this campaign in line with our goal of engaging even more Filipino families across the country. We will make this a yearly advocacy by enjoining the whole nation to celebrate every first weekend of July thereafter as a National Family Bonding Weekend. Then and now, this is what our brand proudly stands for,” said Ong.

So whatever happens during your entire week, there is always a Sabado to look forward to and make things better. What better way than to spend it at your nearest Jollibee Store with your loved ones.

Robinson's Fit & Fun attract thousands of Running "Buddies"

It was one of those great reasons to wake up at 3am in the morning.

Turns out all the motivation I needed to finally join another running event was a commitment I made to Ruth Floresca, a fellow blogger.

So despite having no practice run, or regular exercise leading to the run,  this I had to show up to keep my promise, and see if I still had the stamina.

As the name suggests the 8th Robinsons Supermarket Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run, required you to have a buddy, which I think is a very good idea to have you commit and keep you motivated throughout the race.

Together with thousands of other runners, which included several CEOs and celebrities, we ran in pairs around the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

The overwhelming turnout is a testament to the consistently increasing number of health-conscious individuals actively seeking healthier lifestyles.

The annual Fit & Fun Buddy Run is in keeping with Robinsons Supermarket’s commitment to health & wellness. It aims to empower those who are leading healthy and active lives, and encourage the rest to start healthier days by going on a wellness journey with Robinsons Supermarket.

Around 4,500 recreational runners took on the 5KM and 10KM run, including triathlete Nikko Huelgas, who recently bagged a gold medal for the sport at the 28th SEA Games. Philippines Volcanoes captain Jake Letts, and celebrities James Reid and Jessy Mendiola were in attendance as well.

“While eating healthy is at the core of a healthy life, we cannot discount the immutable contribution of exercise. And running is always better when done with a partner hence, the Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy run,” said Robinsons Supermarket General Manager Jody Gadia.

At the end of the run, top pair finishers received prizes from Robinsons Supermarket officials. 5K winners won a trip for 2 to Coron, Palawan while 10k winners bagged a trip for 2 to Yangon, Myanmar. 2nd to 5th place finishers received Robinsons Gift Certificates as consolation prizes.

Special awards from event sponsors were also given away. Outstanding pairs were awarded the following: Close-up Couple award, Rexona Do More Buddies, Breeze Sige Mom-child Tandem, Nestle Best Shape-up Buddies, Milo Energy & Milo R2 Twin Buddies, and the Johnson & Johnson Active Fresh Award.

Revealed: Philippines's Most Trusted Names

THE BRANDS AND PEOPLE WE BELIEVE IN THE MOST

The Philippines has voted, and the results are in.

The Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Survey, now in its 17th year, has identified the brands and services Filipinos believe in, above all others, along with our most trusted TV presenter and sports personality.

Having a trusted name in 2015 – as a brand or a public figure – is more valuable than ever, especially in a world where choices are increasingly decided with a click on the computer, or a click on the TV remote.

It’s a huge endorsement,” notes Walter Beyleveldt, Reader’s Digest Managing Director, Asia Pacific.  “And one the winners should be very proud of.”

THE BRANDS FILIPINOS TRUST

Ø  Filipinos trust their meals to Baguio cooking oil, believe the quality of Monterey and Magnolia Chicken, and are confident in shopping at SM Malls. We’re secure with Acer laptops and when it comes to capturing those precious memories we prefer Canon cameras.  In all, the survey covers a broad range of 42 different product and service categories. See here / See attached for the full results

Ã˜  One of the world’s leading custom research firms, Ipsos, was commissioned to conduct the independent poll, and to ensure results were compiled in an objective manner using proven methodology.  Approximately 5,000 individuals were selected across 5 of Asia’s key markets such as the Philippines, HongKong, Malaysia, and Taiwan.

Ø  In the Philippines, around 1000 respondents completed the survey. Half were subscribers to Reader's Digest, while the remainder were selected to reflect the demographics of the general population.

Ø  Consumers were asked to rate the brands they nominated on six qualitative criteria, including quality, value and innovation

Ø  There are two premium level awards given for Philippines Most Trusted Brands.  Gold Trusted Brand Award winners are those which stand out clearly above their competitors.  Platinum Trusted Brand Award is for brands which have achieved a mathematical ranking at least double that of the nearest competitor.

“Having a trusted brand is a distinct competitive advantage, and something the winners should quite rightly be making the most of in the marketplace,” notes Sheron White, Reader’s Digest Group Advertising Director, Asia Pacific.   “Congratulations to them all.”

 MOST TRUSTED PERSONALITIES

The Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Survey has also identified the Philippines most trusted TV presenter, entertainment presenter and our most trusted sports personality.

These are highly popular and competitive sectors, where trust is a crucial attribute.

“TV presenters and their ratings depend on our trust, so to top this poll is a significant achievement indeed,” notes Sue Carney, Reader’s Digest Editor-in-Chief, Asia Pacific.

“Likewise, sport is something of a cultural and emotional attachment for many people, so being at the top of the podium is definitely worth celebrating.”

Much like the awardees for the consumer categories, the Filipinos choice for the Most Trusted Personalities have likewise remained consistent for the past few years.

Ms. Jessica Soho remains as the Most Trusted News Presenter for the fifth straight year, proving how much the Filipinos value her news reporting and her opinions.

As one of the most visible TV personalities and bankable product endorsers, multi awarded host Vic Sotto has again been voted as the Most Trusted Entertainment Presenter.

Sotto, who has been part of Eat Bulaga, the Philippines longest running variety shows on TV, has also hosted several game shows and starred in various sitcoms throughout the years.

Finally, despite coming up short in what was billed as the “greatest boxing match of the century” Filipino Pride and future boxing hall of famer Manny Pacquiao continues to be the Filipinos Most Trusted Sports Personality.

Meet the women of "Magic Mike XXL"

It has been 3 years since "Magic Mike" hit the screen, I know that everyone's excited for the opening of "Magic Mike XXL" next week, since all of us know the "men" behind the movie, let us all have a glimpse of its women who comprised of the following hotties.

The filmmakers of Warner Bros. Pictures' “Magic Mike XXL” amped up the volume with new female characters that introduce unexpected challenges and directions. Playing them are Amber Heard as the elusive Zoe, a photographer who catches Mike’s (Channing Tatum) eye; Andie MacDowell as Nancy, an uninhibited Southern Belle who might have something BDR (Joe Manganiello) had given up hope of ever finding; and Jada Pinkett Smith is Rome, a woman from Mike’s past.

The guys who wowed audiences around the world in the rousing hit “Magic Mike” are back. This time, they’re turning up the heat and taking it on the road – with a revealing new story, a fresh perspective on the future and a bigger, bolder set of some of the hottest and most exciting dance moves ever captured on the big screen.

Rome is now the impresario of a one-of-a-kind exotic entertainment palace, which takes Mike and his buddies (Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Adam Rodriguez, Kevin Nash) down a rabbit hole of possibilities that are nothing short of inspiring and brings a fresh focus to their performances. Likewise, Pinkett Smith, who had never been to a strip club before, says, “When I saw how exhilarating it was to be with other women in that environment and see how much joy they were getting from celebrating these beautiful men and really exploring that primal nature within us, it was an eye-opening experience for me.”

“Rome’s club is so far removed from anything they know, they come away from it realizing that they all have something unique to offer,” adds Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, Mike has his first of several chance meetings with Amber Heard’s Zoe at a beach party, illuminated mainly by car headlights. An intriguing young woman with a flair for candid photography, Zoe is someone he’d like to learn more about, but, for the moment, she gives him only a smile and something to think about. “What I like about the way these two interact is that they don’t follow a traditional trajectory of ‘boy meets girl, boy chases girl,’” Heard observes of their keep-‘em-guessing interplay. “It’s not about that. We get the impression that they have something to impart to each other which is not possible in their first meeting, though they’re drawn to each other.”

Another unscheduled but equally inspiring detour takes them to a formal-looking plantation house owned by a very informal woman: Nancy, played with authentic southern charm by the South Carolina-born Andie MacDowell, whose breakout role was in Steven Soderbergh’s now-classic “sex, lies and videotape.” Says director Gregory Jacobs, “She was the first person I thought of when this character was written.”

Recently divorced, unabashedly flirtatious and a mite inebriated, Nancy is toasting her newfound freedom with some girlfriends, and they couldn’t be more delighted when these five handsome hunks in shorts and sleeveless shirts enter the floral-wallpapered parlor like gladiators taking the arena. For MacDowell, “It was a totally different experience than I’ve ever had in my entire career; a lot of big, crazy, talented male energy.”

Playing at being mysterious, Manganiello offers, “My character has had some difficulty romantically, that has become a source of concern for him. Let’s say it takes the right kind of woman to handle a guy like Big Dick Richie.”

“And Nancy says, ‘Bring it on,’” MacDowell counters enthusiastically. “She’s primed for a good time and she may have finally found the right man.”

“Magic Mike XXL” reunites Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias, stars of the 2012 worldwide hit “Magic Mike.”

Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them.

On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.

Opening across the Philippines on July 15, “Magic Mike XXL” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.

Drew Arellano goes for better choices in life

Multi-faceted television personality Drew Arellano goes for better choices in life. As the new face of Sun, Drew is proud to be the voice of the fastest-growing mobile brand in postpaid.

Drew Arellano is the new face of Sun post paid

Drew, who loves to travel and is a triathlete, said he is supporting Sun’s #ChooseBetter thrust for very good reasons. “One of the reasons why I’m happy and proud that I’m now with the Sun family is because of the value-rich benefits Sun provides its subscribers – that’s what we want to push. It’s also about associating myself with a very good brand, a trusted brand,” said Drew.

The travel show host recalled how he’s always opted for intelligent choices, making the decision to support Sun’s campaign an easy slide. “Before, when I was in college, you wanted to have that value for money and uso yung group messages. Like don’t call me with other networks. That’s how it is.  It’s weird because right now we believe the market now is highly intelligent, very resourceful. They do checkout the deals for them. You know the amount of budget they use. So with Sun, it’s pretty much all about getting more than what you pay for.”

Choose better

Like Drew, Sun’s  #ChooseBetter campaign rationalizes the importance of knowing your options because there are ways to make the most out of what we pay for, the backbone of this new campaign that calls on mobile subscribers to weigh their options carefully because it’s only through making better choices do they get the best value for their money.

Drew Arellano with Sun executives

Sun Vice President Joel Lumanlan underscored the brand’s solid business performance, “Sun’s stellar performance in the postpaid segment has been hugely driven by feature-packed plans that give subscribers unbeatable value for their money. We are optimistic about sustaining this momentum of double-digit growth throughout the year as we continue to introduce highly competitive products under an insightful marketing campaign that appeals to the wise spender in every Filipino.”

Sun’s #ChooseBetter campaign is seen to sustain the gains posted by the brand in 2014, which saw Sun emerging as the country’s fastest growing postpaid brand in terms of subscriber base.

Sun Cellular set the pace for the mobile industry by posting 16-percent year-on-year growth in its subscriber base, according to the year end disclosure of PLDT.

Sun is pushing for Best Value Plan 450, an entry-level postpaid plan which already comes with a free Android handset plus a monthly pack of unlimited calls and texts to Sun; 250 texts to all networks; and 20 hours of mobile surfing.

On the other hand, Sun offers broadband users with Non Stop Surf Plan 450, which comes with Non-stop surfing, data streaming and access to Spinnr music app.

“With all their inclusions at very affordable prices, Sun Best Value Plan 450 and Non Stop Surf 450 are clearly the best-value postpaid plans in the market today,” noted Lumanlan.

Sun emerged in 2014 as the fastest growing postpaid brand in the country after posting a remarkable 16 percent year-on-year growth in terms of subscriber base, compared to the 12 percent growth posted by rival Globe Telecom Inc., over the same period.
