Young artists show their unique flair at the 2017 Global Art Students’ Exhibition

Armed with a mission of training children to think creatively while providing the best art learning environment for artistic expression, Global Art Philippines held the 2017 Global Art Students’ Exhibition at the upper ground atrium of SM Aura. The exciting and fun activity took place in partnership with SM Aura as part of the mall’s Art in Aura event.

Similar to previous years, the annual exhibition put together a carefully curated display of unique and original works by Global Art students rendered in various media including oil pastel and color pencil, poster color paint on paper, canvas and acrylic paints, and clay. A portion of the exhibit area featured some students’ pencil sketch on paper.

“Each year, we and our students and their families look forward to this event which provides the perfect venue to display their artworks that they had worked so hard on during the program. It’s also an opportunity for our students from different branches to come together and admire each other’s artworks, be inspired, and learn from each other,” said Yenny Saw, Country Manager of Global Art Philippines.   “We are thankful to SM Aura who generously provided a free venue for this event and for their commitment to promoting the arts and young, budding artists like our students

The exhibit is in a way a prelude to the much-anticipated National Level Art Competition which will be held on Sept 24, 2017, at SMX AURA, and prepares students in terms of working independently, managing their time, and giving it their best.

Over 200 students joined by their families and friends participated in the whole day affair that started from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  These budding artists and illustrators came from different Global Art schools in Metro Manila including Ortigas (Greenhills), Katipunan, Fun Ranch Tiendesitas, Makati, Serendra, Alabang, Del Monte-QC, Binondo and New Manila.

“We are very much elated on the turnout of participants and the genuine interest of the public to know more about Global Art. We received a lot of inquiries from people asking about our programs. Incidentally, Global Art is offering a back-to-school promo until June 30, 2017 where students can avail of discounts,” Saw shared.

Established in 1999 in Malaysia, Global Art opened its first branch in the Philippines in 2008 and currently has 15 locations found in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Pampanga and General Santos. The art school is also operating in 16 different countries such as USA, Australia, China, India and all of the Southeast Asia.

Its programs are open to students of all ages – from three to 60 – and include Creative Drawing, Acrylic Painting, Cartoon and Comic, Clay, Sketching, Poster Making and Cultural Program (creating icons of different countries using clay).

B.Y.O.B. (BACK-TO-SCHOOL TIPS FROM KING SUE)

The B.Y.O.B. (“bring your own baon”) concept has a lot of benefits—from saving money to ensuring that your kids get proper nutrition. KING SUE  rounds up some  BYOB tips to make your child’s field trip, excursion, lunch or snacks appetizing and delicious.

1. Plan ahead. A well-thought out weekly menu will save you time. Make a calendar and assign specific meals daily, infusing healthy combinations of fish and vegetables with meat. Sit down with your kids when planning the menu and take them with you for grocery shopping. Surf the Internet or exchange recipes with friends. The secret is to make the menu as balanced and as exciting to eat  as possible.

2. Cook in batches. Assign two days weekly—preferably Sunday and Wednesday—for marketing and cooking. Prepare the main meats and pack them in plastic wares with your special marinade. Pre-slice other ingredients like King Sue sausages for your pasta, King Sue hams for pizza, pre-boil or pre-grill as needed, then pack separately. This will save you time on daily meal preparation.

3. Take it easy. Select fuss-free, easy to prepare recipes that will not take too much of your time in the morning. King Sue has pre-packed meats such as tocino, chicken nuggets, burgers, longanisa and a whole lot more. Mix them with eggs and potatoes for a yummy omelet, as a nice add-on to a sandwich (don’t forget the greens!), or to a mouthwatering pasta or soup. Or you may simply fry them  and pair them with a simple salad and you’re good to go. Meanwhile, King Sue Hawaiian Ham can be mixed into Yang Chow Fried Rice or used as a topping to pizza. If you have extra macaroni at home, prepare baked mac  using King Sue old English pork  sausages and German Franks and  top with quick-melt cheese boost.  Looking for other ideas, check out www.kingsue.com for recipes.

4. Jazz up the packing. If you’re a crafter, doing a bento box is a fun idea.  There are also  other means to jazz up the lunch box. Cookie cutters can turn  fruits, cheese, and breads into fun-shaped food items. Or try to cover the rice in cling-film so you could stick on some googley eyes, sticker smileys, cut-out hearts, and other modern emoticons. Insert a post-it with one liners such as “Good luck on the exams today!” or “Enjoy your lunch. I love you”. You may not see his wide grin when he opens his lunchbox but wait till he gets home and smothers you with hugs and kisses.

Celebrate the art of cooking and preparing meals with La Germania

Remember the saying that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach? While it may still hold true, the responsibility of preparing food isn't the sole responsibility of women anymore.

Even when I was growing up, both my tatay and nanay shared kitchen duties--each had their own specialties-- my tatay his Papaitan, Seafood Lomi and Adobong Pusit while my nanay was armed with a recipes she learned from being a Bicolana-- making magic dishes with her favorite ingredient-- gata.

So whenever I think of my childhood, the first memories that often comes to mind were the meals we shared together--us siblings helping out in the kitchen and sharing these dishes over dinner.

And although I've never really learned how to cook, the one thing I never forgot during my kitchen duties was the trusty white oven we had. An investment my parents would tell us and the brand was La Germania.

La Germania recently launches stoves, range ovens, range hoods, cookers at Guevarra's, Manila. The event was hosted by Suzi Entrata,  husband and wife team  Chef Roland and Jackie Laudico. They whipped out their bestseller dishes and desserts using La Germania range and oven.

At Project Pie, you have the power to make your pizza anything you want it to be. If you're a vegetarian,  just ask for no pepperoni and sausage. You can also opt for a tuna toppings for a healthier option with bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and cilantro. The James Project Salad

Plus, you can also customize your own pasta and salad or choose from their signature flavors. My personal favorite from their salad offerings is the The James Project Salad with mixed greens, candied walnuts, grilled chicken, dried cranberries and feta cheese drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette. Yummy and healthy!

Founder James Markham was sick and tired of pizza that is dipped, dumped and stuffed beyond recognition that he created something real and better, fast and no frills in artisan style pizza. And in taking fast casual, guest engagement, consumer empowerment concept to life, James together with his partners launched in the United States Pieology and later on MOD but soon after success came and the concept diluted, James decided create his own in Project Pie. The brand opened its first store at MGM Grand Las Vegas and shortly after opened the doors to other branches in the US.

Seeing the potential of Project Pie, Mr. Leo Prieto Jr. then Chairman of International Family Food Services, Inc. (IFFSI) spoke to James and soon after, shook hands to bring the concept in the Philippines. Mr. Prieto, together with CEO Vic L. Gregorio set up DBE Project, Inc. (January 2013) the company that brought to life Project Pie in the Philippines (it’s first store opened in July 31, 2013), the first country to have the brand outside the United States.  In 2016, the company changed management hands and is now headed by Mr. Chris Po, as Chairman of DBE Project Inc. and Mr. Vic Gregorio remains to be President.

The concept of Project Pie is what fast casual pizza is all about. They empower their Guests to DESIGN and BUILD their own PIZZA, PASTA or SALAD or choose from their signature flavors. Project Pie boast of their best pizza crust and freshest ingredients, all baked in about 2 minutes! You can choose any of the 32 toppings, to create your own Master PIZZA all for the same price, TOP THAT!

Project Pie also offers their newest product- Oven Baked Chicken Wings! It comes in three (3) exciting flavors -  Buffalo Red, BBQ and Pesto Parmesan. That's one product you will surely enjoy together with your all-time favorite PIZZA, PASTA, and SALAD which you can also now enjoy delivered via FOODPANDA PH.

Ed Sheeran tops the first-ever Billboard Philippines Hot 100, while local singer Inigo Pascual leads the Billboard Philippine Top 20.

Billboard Philippines (“BillboardPH”) recently premiered (June 12) the country’s first rankings reflecting local music consumption.

Using localized on-demand streaming data from global services Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube, plus download track sales from iTunes, BillboardPH’s new charts provide the most accurate representation of music popularity in the Philippines.

Leading BillboardPH’s chart offerings is the BillboardPH Hot 100, which ranks the top songs by both local and foreign acts. The Billboard Philippine Top 20, meanwhile, will contain only Filipino artists, and the Billboard PH Catalog Chart will list songs by Filipino acts that are older than three years, but still being actively streamed.

Ed Sheeran commands the No. 1 spot on the BillboardPH Hot 100 with “Shape of You,” while Bruno Mars and The Chainsmokers each place a pair of tracks each in the top 10.  Also occupying spaces in the Hot 100 top 10 are DJ Khaled's “I’m the One," featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne, at No. 3, and the current Billboard Hot 100 U.S. No. 1 hit “Despacito,” by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber, at No. 5.

The Billboard Philippine 20 is led by Inigo Pascual’s “Dahil Sa’Yo,” with singer/actress Jona holding down two spots in the top 10, at Nos. 3 and 4, with “Pusong Ligaw” and "Maghihintay Ako,” respectively. Also faring well on the local list is rock/fusion band Sud, which stands at No. 2 with “Sila.”

Billboard PH, launched in September 2016, has quickly become the premier source of music coverage in Philippines. The addition of local charts to a menu already including the U.S.-based Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200, among others, further emphasizes the site as the go-to place for Filipino music fans.  The Billboard PH charts refresh each Monday morning local time.

PhilNoni x Stevia: World's super anti-oxidants

I have been to big organic farms in some provinces like Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro and Laguna. I have met with the farmers and visited fruit bearing farms and learned a lot or two about good soils. How to grow flowers, vegetables for salad (like lettuce, romaine cabbage) and stevia (or sweet leaf).

I remember drinking oregano tea with stevia leaves infusion. It was my first time to chew Stevia. It was tolerable as it was sweet but has a distinct slight bitterness after taste.   Upon research, stevia has an antioxidant property and is a good source of Vitamin C. Its a good substitute to your white refined sugar.

I have never seen a Noni fruit before but my parents told me that it has medicinal health benefits. It is a memory booster, it can lower your cholesterol, thus its good for the heart.  It is good for your hair, skin diseases, a good antifungal agent too. The best thing is it can also cures cancer of any type.

Philippines Phil. Morinda Citrifolia, inc. (PMCI) has launched one of the world’s amazingly superb single course anti-oxidants from the ancient tropical Noni plant on June 10 at Stevia Farm Bocaue, Bulacan.

PhilNONI juice is an extract from the whole ripe fruit of the amazing medicinal plant Noni tree found growing wild in the island shores of the Philippines. The taste of PhilNONI juice is enhanced by Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) known in the market as Sweet and Fit, another Philippine product. Noni is the international name of this ancient medicinal plant which is scientifically known as Morinda citrifolia Linn.

Dr. Tito Contado, a former Professor of the UP College of Agriculture until 1978 and a retired UN FAO Senior Officer for 13 years and 7 years as Chief of the FAO Extension, Education and Communication Service, studied and experimented the use of Noni for two years before he decided to register with the SEC in 2001 to pioneer the Noni company, Phil. Morinda Citrifolia, Inc.

Having effectively recovered from a 6 heart by-pass in June 1999 using regularly Noni fruit juice supplement, Dr. Contado envisions to make PhilNONI brand products AVAILABLE, ACCESSIBLE and AFFORDABLE to the market, worldwide.

PhilNONI con Stevia

With the very successful production and marketing of 100% pure PhilNONI juice for more than 10 years, PMCI conducted further studies to better improve its taste without compromising its efficacy, stability and safety.

The study resulted in a partnership with Philippine Glorious industries Development Corporation, producer of the natural sweetener Stevia, Sweet and Fit which enhances ,the taste of pure PhilNONI juice.

PhilNONl con Stevia, being a superb Nutraceutical (partly nutritional and partly pharmaceutical), is well known to for its multiple antioxidant functions, healthy weight loss, increase energy, slows down aging, and younger-healthier-looking skin properties. It also helps boost the immune system, prevent degenerative conditions such as: Alzheimer’s disease, Arthritis, Diabetes, Cancer, Premature aging, etc.

PhilNONl con Stevia is now available in Mercury Drug Stores nationwide.
